    so, a quick sand and the hop up fits.  On first test, it lost 100fps.... not sealing around the nozzle.   Greased up the interface where the hopup joins the gearboc and boom, 330fps.  Thats a 30fps gain from putting a 340mm barrel in place of a 210mm barrel in what was a CM raider.

      I've found most hop units generally do have a gap, brought some brass rings from ebay and sorted it

      It is quite normal for there to be a gap; that is what the brass ring is for.

    True. But generally people only review when its bad. You have to go out of your way to do so. So the anger drives that. I cant think any delivery firm is over 60% JG scorpion for £50 on gunfire though.....

    just my two pence on this debate. Also, free trade and open markets are great for finding deals... think of it as a more fun and rewarding insurance comparison site. You wouldnt stay with a 'local' insurance company who jacks up your cover by a £100 each year for no reason when there is another offering the same for much cheaper... you just have to put up with the inevitable asian call centre if things go sideways

      if your considering a mosfet id throw in a perun v2 hybrid again available fro our lovely ak2m4,also the m4 compression kit upgrade from ak2m4 is another gd call improved my m4 no end

    i had a replica M1 helmet from china stopped at the chinese boarder a while back. seemed a little odd to me tbh. was on ebay, seller was good about it, messaged me 2 days after ordering and gave full refunds

    odd thought on cylinder compression etc.  i have a secondhand CM16 shorty firing at 297fps.  i assume the interior is the same as the longer barreled version.... so would that mean i may see a jump by putting in a longer barrel?  else they would have different cylinders or fire with a lower fps than this one?  (this is ignoring the airseal)

      Depending on the cylinder, yes, a longer barrel will boost the energy output.

       

      Installing the same exact gearbox in a wider range of guns is just one way to cut corners (imagine having to tune each gearbox)

      It's possible, and plausible, and even likely, but I wouldn't want to leap to any conclusions.

       

      If you're wanting to improve the air seal and energy, I'd start with just squirting some silicone oil or spray up the nozzle, swish it around, then blow it out the nozzle before re-assembling.  You can also get some in behind the piston head via the cylinder cut out.

      The gearbox sounds alright so that is something im trying not to crack open.  im trying for a more classic M4 look, so i have ordered a 4 inch outer barrel extension which will allow for a longer inner barrel.  So if the theory is right that they use the same gearbox etc in all varients of combat machine, will give it just a little more fps without having to open the gearbox (another 20 to 30 fps would do nicely.)  The current plan is a new hop-up assembly inc rubber and buckings with a longer inner barrel.  open to recommendations on good hopup units not gone aftermarket for these before

      depends on what you want.

       

      but they do offer a lot of functionality such as burst, precocking etc.

    Yup the 30 round stanag that comes with it is so tight you have to hammer it in (annoying, but i only use the stubbies anyway). The g&p 20 rounders fit fine and drop freely when you press the release. The battleaxe brand 20 rounders are also good.

    Right. Had two game days with it. Unfortunately i the piston head still vents on firing. Resulting in poor efficiency, only one of the mags managing to fully empty. The other two mags seem to suffer some icing issues(?). You fire and they have a quiet temporary gas leak before sealing itself again. Secondly. My one good mag seems to fire the best. The others for some unfathomable reason seeming to not hop/come out with as much power behind it. Have had some kills with it running with my SVD yesterday. And it is satisfying to hold. Just still needs some tinkering

      Nasty things.  I had my top tucked into my bottoms.  Long sleeves, full trousers, army boots and gloves.  The thing somehow got in and crawled up to within 4 inches of my gentlemen bits on my inner thigh.  How it got there i cannot fathom.  Glad i got it out alive, though with normal tweezers.  Think im gonna buy some tick ones to carry on me next time

    There is a raptor grach thread i started. Might be worth a read. After a month. The mags still hold enough gas to fire. Though not far enough back to lock the slide (which it doesnt do much of anyway). The mags suffer with bad ice build up, slow leaks for a period after firing. Part of me hopes the valve can be changed for an aftermarket one. But not looked too far into this option. Are they interchangeable? The chamber in the slide pisses gas. Probably why it doesnt have enough blow back to lock. I did change the oring as recommended on another thread. Seemed a slight improvement but not perfect. Half wondering if i should use the marui weaker green gas. Maybe then it wont force out so much? Black gas short strokes. Fires one but doesnt cycle the slide at all. Ramble over

    Considering the weight of those rifs. It would need to be a beefy recoil system. Would be awesome... dunno if id want to own 3 m14's....

    I got the Tm samurai edge HD off gunfire a few years ago. Think it was £150 odd at the time. Purely for a display. Did fire it a few times at first. Felt nice. But never wanted to skirmish it. Depends really on how much a little extra shine on the slide matters to you. Only guy i ever knew with a WE m9 broke on the first day. making a semi only pistol fire full auto. So maybe a little more fun to use ignoring the fact that somethings not working. buuuut this was at the gaol its semi only (unless outdoors lmg) so his new toy was not skirmishable.

    So my favourite site is closing down and selling the rental gear.  Nabbed a combat machine for cheaps. Something to tinker on without me worrying too much about destroying the gat. 

     

    Plan to slowly upgrade parts to see if i can get it going well and learn teching.  Any advice on what parts to go for first. Im guessing the usual barrel and hopup assembly first.  

     

    Need to find out which CM it is first tho. Collecting sunday. It is the M4 variety, the first and only M4 i have ever owned

      I like them a lot.  I've a tight bore barrel on mine, standard green hop rubber and a ZCI plastic rotary hop.  It has a lazy mans plug and play Burst Wizard 4 'fet.  

       

      The barrel support is weak, the controls lack much feel or deliberate clicks and they feel a bit flimsy beside a steel receivered rifle, but they are very light and the M4 ergonomics are hard to beat/fuck up. 

       

      I keep mine switched to full with the burst set to single shot and spam the trigger with manly abandon.  It's had scores of thousands of rounds through it.  Never misses a beat.

       

      I've a second that I've bought to get silly with tuning wise.

    This. My first speed loader was a cheap nuprol clone of the stanag TM type. Jammed all the time. Replaced with the TM and works so much better.

      See i have some like that. But the back of akm mags has a thin metal strip.  Something that would likely cut through rubber/plastic retention pouches. Or so id think?
