Airsofters are Airsoft's worst enemy.
-
How long should I leave it before I accept that my last Airsoft game, was probably my last Airsoft game? 🤔
-
Yeah, used to joke about the insanity of getting up early on a sunday to go run around a muddy field.
Think the issue for me was that after coming back from covid, to the same old creative game mechanics, dickish behaviour and sites that at best cant and at worst wont do anything to remedy the situation that's plagued the sport for as long as i've been playing it.
Dont get me wrong, had some fantastic times playing pew wars, but a hobby you do for fun to unwind it's not good when having fun and unwinding are at the mercy of wether or not a decent crowd of folk show up on the day.
Maybe if i learn to tolerate it better and find fun regardless but methinks waiting for humanity to improve will be waiting a while.

Anyone else buy that 3d printed pistol stand from the midlands airsoft fair? being told it is made to fit any double stack pistol, it was 3mm too wide for a M9, P226, Grach, 5-7, G19 and desert eagle... it was cheap, and after a time with a dremmel it works great. but amazed at how off the fitment was
-
"any double stack"
Doesnt even fit a glock.....
That's some top tier sizing right there

Dammit!
I hate motor insurers with a vengeance.😡😡😡😡

Looking at getting red dot + magnifier for sniper rifle... am I insane? I've noticed I don't really go above 3x on scopes and I play sniper aggressively.
-
eh, the rs world generally considers dots viable out to the kind of ranges airsoft can only dream of.
not so keen on magnifiers myself, and seniorspaz has saved me the trouble of writing out why.
i'd personally go for stacked, you can get the benefits of the dot and the benefits of magnified whilst having an easy, quick and intuitive no-handed switch between magnified or dot as the situation requires.
only downside of stacked is bore offset (which eh, not really that big a deal imo) and having to separately zero 2 optics (which also eh, not really a big deal).

Well I really can't work women out.
Mrs Shamal is on a ten day cruise of the med.
So I hatched a plot to send her a video of her two most loved furry friends. Nonky the tiger and cheeser the mouse. She is so protective about them that it's unreal.
With the help of @EDcasea video was produced that showed them both hanging from my drone at the local cricket club although they have never left the house.( Excellent production from Ed.)
I sent her the video today thinking that she would go ballistic( imagine a five foot stick of tnt in the heat of a Turkish bazaar)
Her reaction? "Ahh Sweet"🤔
Unbelievable!
I asked her how many cocktails she had had. No reply.
I may be on some sort of hit list for when she returns.
If you don't hear from me then you know the reason why!😂

What amperage should I charge my lipo batteries at?
Battery = li-po, 1300mAh, 7.4v, 25C, 8Wh
Charger = Turingy Accucell 6.
I read recently the suggestion that its better to charge lipos slower, but I need to balance that against getting them charged in time for tomorrow! Any advice?
-
Take battery capacity in mah
Divide by 1000
Thats the 1c charging current in amps
At 1c a battery theoretically takes 1hr to charge, although often it'll not be exactly that depending on charge level etc.
Whilst you can charge faster on some batteries, 1c is a good rule of thumb for max, anything up to that is unlikely to hurt tje battery but going over might shorten its life.
On in shorter terms, 1.3amps is fine

If you get to a point when you think your collection is complete, do you find yourself planning on tinkering and upgrading?
on that note, AK hop ups.... is the nub the same as normal M4 style ones or do i need to look for different things?
-
I immediately started down the path of tinkering back when i'd only got the 1 aeg, needless to say these days i advise folk to have at least 1 gun that they leave alone....
Downside to tinkering is once you've reached a level where you can reliably build a good shooting pew, it puts you off expanding the collection because of the time/money you know you'll have to sink into it before it'll shoot at the standard you've gotten used to.
As for ak nubs, should be just standard (manufacturer specific oddities notwithstanding).

Hello guys, this guy is a scammer…I lost 350£,I paid him for a gun with bank transfer(lesson learned) and he never delivered…Anyway I went today to Metropolitan Police in Euston and gave all details that I have and screenshots with the conversation also (dm me for case reference if anyone else was scammed by him).Never trust ppl here and also don’t do business without PayPal

must say 3 days seems a tad quick to be jumping to contacting police?
maybe it's just me but i'd give it at least a week of no contact, some folk just don't come online all that often.
granted it's poor form to not at least try and maintain some communication, or at least state reasonable expectations up front (eg "sorry i'm busy next couple of days but i'll get it posted friday) when you've just taken someone's hard-earned.
for sure though, any secondhand sale not conducted face to face with cash is a task for paypal to prevent exactly this.

First time taking a gearbox apart and I swear to god this M95 spring is way to strong to get into the casing without exploding the internals everywhere. Am I missing something?

@Rogerborg the combat union hop barrel retention is truly ridiculous, on top of a metal c clip with grub screw retainer it has a collet that properly clamps down on the barrel and locks it solid.

are the 3 washers you describe on the rear end of the spring guide like this:
https://www.ak2m4.co.uk/internal-parts/spring-guides/zci-spring-guide-stainless-steel-qd-gearbox
if so that's a thrust bearing (sometimes they are just washers that sorta kinda do the same job), you'll often find aftermarket pistons have something similar.
it's a common aftermarket part (and a bunch of stock guns come with them). generally you want at least one end of the spring on a thrust bearing (both is kinda redundant) and i prefer having them on the spring guide as it's extra weight on the piston that doesn't need to be there.
if the washers are halfway along the spring guide like this;
https://airsoftdirect.uk.com/shs-aeg-dsg-spring-guide-v2-stainless-wd0033/
then it's a DSG spring guide designed to add more spring preload to compensate for a dual sector gear build where you're only getting half the stroke of spring compression. personally i'm not keen on the idea reckon a stronger spring with a standard guide is the way to go, but this would explain the spring being particularly nasty to try and fit as you're putting it under even more preload than normal.
it's common for spring guides (wether or not they have a thrust bearing) to not have a hole all the way through, although generally there's a bolt hole of some description to get a little purchase.
whilst it's a pain in the ass learning on a non qd, think of how glorious working on your first qd box is gonna be......

it's an annoying operation for sure.
i tend to find right hand fingers down on the cylinder, hold it in position.
once you've got the spring guide in it's notch in the lower half, you can use a screwdriver through the hole in the back to hold it angled slightly down usually stops it jumping free (most gearboxes have a rear hole for this, although i've met ones that don't) leaving your right hand sufficiently free to pick up and place the gearbox casing.
really difficult to describe with words, it's the kinda thing you just have to pick up by feel but hopefully that made at least a little sense.
of course it's exactly at that last point that the trigger, anti reversal latch or both jump free, forcing you to reset.
the anti reversal latch in particular hates playing ball, always loves to jump free at the last minute. backing the geartrain into it can provide just enough tension to stop this, or if it's a real bugger then a magnet on the underside will hold it down for you.

Sorry dark theme users if you've been flashbanged this evening. Every major IPB update I wipe the theme and apply our changes afresh (thereby wiping your default selected theme).

Just a quick one:
My AK does 24/25 RPS on a 7.4v battery, it has a 36k warhead + SHS 12:1 gears.
What ROF am I looking at with 18:1s?

Is there a GBB Luger thats generally considered the best?

not the WE version, don't get me wrong i'm not one of those "all WE's are terrible" kinda folks, but the WE luger specifically is imo one of the worst airsoft pistols ever made from a skirmishability perspective.
the combination of horrific gas effeciency and no hop unit (not an exaggeration there is literally no component that functions as a hop unit) means you've got an effective range of maybe 20 feet for the 5-ish rounds it'll fire on a good day.
one better left for the re-enactment crowd.

Does anyone know anyone who could do custom sorbo pads? v7 gearbox sorbo pads just don't seem to exist in Europe

just use some piston shims that @ak2m4 sells?
aoe isn't a magic "for X gearbox type use Y distance" kinda thing, you need to be checking and if necessary adjusting on a per-gearbox basis.
