A full weekend of airsoft, Nam style. Silly pyjamas, primitive weaponry, and up to your bollox in mud. Great stuff.
Sank a few beers with mates and dragged an LSW around, much to the detriment of my back. Hooray for Tramadol and gritted teeth.
Now back home clogging up the washing machine's filter with fern stems and mud, and drinking to another victory for Uncle Ho.
Du ban yankee! Vhe nha!
-
Nice one, where was that?
I was so disappointed when a local site cancelled their Nam-film-sim. I had the rice hat and pyjamas all ready to go, specifically in order to annoy any "The NVA didn't wear those!" stitch counters.
-
Sounds like fun 👍
That's what I like about nae.
You are out all day walkin',stalkin'👀and talkin' bollocks an shootin' every leaf and branch that dares to move accompanied by shouts of "contact 12oclock!", and " cease fire he's on our side"and "wanker! It's the bloody wind!"
Oh how we laugh till our bellies ache which is fitting as it matches our aching legs and feet.
Then it's back to main arena for drinkipoos and a bit of nosebag and stories of how we each wiped out the entire oppfor single handed that were hiding behind the shivering leaves.
Oh man I so missed it last year ☹

Getting fed up with the lack of accuracy with my G&G CM16. FPS wise it's consistent. The decent tightbore and bucking are fine, but the plastic build lets the barrel move.
The super low weight and ergonomics have made it my lazy go to for years, but frustration is setting in. Shame as I really like the super reliability, fit, ease of maintenance and pointability.
Suppose a new M4 is on the cards. What to get?

Isnt plumbing tape the airsoft trick for this people wrap it round the barrel and the hop for airseal. I had severe accuracy issues with my specna arms E11 a while ago, bought a zci hop unit, madbull tightbore and maple leaf bucking and nub, then i sent it off to The cage airsoft techs. They fixed it real good it shoots like a laser atm.
-
If you want a no frills M4 that just runs and runs, TM M4 CRW high cycle.
A teammate has one and it's retarded 25 rps on a 7.4...
Factor in a zci hop unit with a maple leaf rubber to lift them heavies and you're golden.
-
Cheers fellows. I'll try a new hop and tape it if it's still loose.
If I get no joy tinkering I'll have a gandar at the TM.
It was frustrating on Sunday to get hit by the lad shooting my el cheapo CYMA AK as my shots spanged around him at random.
Seriously, it was very slightly loose from the box, albeit years ago. A wobbly receiver is never going to be the base for an accurate rifle.
-
Had some new boxing gloves delivered today. Got some new hand wraps too.
Got home from work at midnight and went out into the back garden all excited to do some heavy bag work with the new toys. Got in about 2am, drenched in sweat, with not one neighbour complaining.
Given the bloody awful noise I made, I reckon that I can still visibly (and audibly) wallop things a fair old bit.
Seriously though, bloody good workout/cardio for airsoft if anyone's interested. No matter how good webbing gets, you need upper body stamina for milsims. Carrying an LMG/LSW needs strength over time.
Anyway, that's my excuse for tonight's antisocial behaviour.
-
Had to clean the hop rubber in my CM.028u. The lad got a bit liberal with the silicone oil...
Bloody palaver compared to an M4, managed to crack the housing round the tiny screw that holds the underside of the battery compartment/dust cover holder/slide. Only needed a washer to make good, and probably could have got away without using one but still.
The wires are so damn short that the fuse holder sits under the cover too. Couldn't be arsed to get the soldering iron out, and no thin wire sitting bout anyway.
Not a lazy man's rifle.
Namsoft next weekend and the AKs have to be in prime nick. Dụ má mày yankee!
-
yeah ak's can be fun to work with depending on how they're setup.
you get used to it though, whilst barrel access aint as good at least you don't have to have half the externals dissassembled just to get to the gearbox.
-
Very true, the pinned models are very handy to work with. The CYMA uses cheaper screws, and for a sub £100 rifle its astounding. Pays your money etc...
I think that they make a good base for custom builds too.
I do have a habit of shedding mags though; I think due to using a mag grip equipped M4 a lot more. I must catch the release with my (gloved) thumb tip.
-
the jg's/cyma's in the ak world are good shooters, bit of tinkering and they'll deliver the goods no bother when it comes to the fundamental task of slinging plastic downrange.
generally with the likes of the lct's/e&l's what you're paying for is the exterior quality.

Jesus wept!
My thighs ache like fuck. I can hardly keep my eyes open, and I feel fantastic.
Great day at Tuddenham with Gunman today. Perhaps going for a long run yesterday to warm up was not such a good idea...
After lunch my painful back was feeling much better and my shoulders and neck were much looser. Airsoft is great physio. Hot shower and a walk of a couple of miles to warm down.
I'll do some bag work tomorrow, and a couple of rounds with the lad if he's not too tired after college.

Yep, I can imagine.
I found myself not so much steadying myself against the trees but positively using them for support.
One of the reasons I love this so much is that you simply push yourself into physical action for so long. I don't mind squash etc, but you'd never play that for four or five hours, let alone a full weekend!
-
So... having moaned about the barrel support on G&G M4s, I did the obvious thing and bought another one (thanks to Shooting Aces!).
I have fitted a very curvy sculpted grip and a similar sculpted magwell grip. I really fancy a chunky round profile stock to complement them both and the big fat round forend. Something shaped like a flat bottomed tick that doesn't alter the standard cheek weld would be favourite.
Any ideas?
P.S. each pay day I'm buying stuff to fit to this. So far I have a load of marked shims, new bushings, SHS 12:1 gears, hi-torque motor, Perun mosfet, 16AWG wiring, lightweight piston and new cylinder/nozzle, ZCI barrel and hop unit etc.
-
Well... fucking great day at Gunman Tuddenham. Good gameplay, really aggressive play from the green team and some hard pushes from the banded team too. Lots of BBs gone south. Positive kill to death count. New (to me) pew worked faultlessly.
Only thing was forgetting to take my pain killers at lunchtime. I took them when I stopped play, but depressing the clutch pedal was agony all the way home.
Picked up my M14 from the on site gnu guru. It now shoots supernaturally good. Seriously, give Theatre 1 Airsoft a look. As a former engineer, I cannot work the magic that Roman lays on what he plays with. I now have the best beastiest airsoft rifle I have seen in my gun cabinet.
Thoroughly recommend this site, and this very special tech.

Hi @Tactical Pith Helmet! 👋

ZCI plastic rotary hop fitted to the G&G, grubscrews tightened, new stiffer spring on the hop unit. Brilliant service and price from AK2M4.
Rifle shoots bob on again.
No excuse for a new rifle now.
Pondering a new shell and building a 12 tooth V2 box with a hi-torque motor. Easy enough to switch back to standard if I ever had to sell.
Any recommendations gratefully received.

get yourself a E&C box with some 13:1s, either ZCI or SHS HT motors and call it a day.
-
i recomend the rocket 13-1 gears and there high torque motor all available from ak2m4

Educate yourselves airsofters. The pith helmet is a summer essential. Everyone should play in one.
And don't shoot until you see the whites of their eyes.
-
Hehe I saw that a few days ago and thought of you. Nearly sent you the link 😄

I can't believe that I've just watched a 10 minute documentary on pith helmets!
It was enjoyable though.

All packed and charged. A full weekend of airsoft ahead.
Uniform, gnus, radios, two pairs of boots etc.
Went to the supermarket and bought some pork pies and crisps, along with a modest 12 cans of ale, a decent bottle of scotch and some machine rolled Cuban cigars. Bought the lad 20 Buds and slab of Guinness.
That this amount of booze is required for what is essentially a sporting event is amazing but essential. I think that the support gunner role is enhanced by slightly trembling hands.
I will still be following my morning fitness routine though. Press-ups win prizes...

Now, that's some forward planning, having a son with the same sized feet.
-
By extreme cunning the boy wears 100% the same size as me. This makes loadout pilfering a serial household issue... Although my dislike of cold wet feet means that I always take a second pair of boots.
Sadly our trip to Bedfordshire is cancelled, but Gunman have offered a free weekend at their filmsim sites plus the expected refund or different game. So it's off to Tuddenham tomorrow. We'll camp and do both days.
-
All deposits paid for Cajun Chicken in October. One of my favourite games of the year.
The game is based on the film Southern Comfort. Bloody good fun. Time to don the dungarees and shotgun!
-
Another AK followed me home today.
One did last week too.
There's another that I fancy in the classifieds section...
Is there an AKs Anonymous?

There’s an AK that will be following me home soon, do you think there could be a connection!?…. 😂👍

Given how many I own and variants thereof I have owned I think I should set up some kind of support group...

Another thoroughly enjoyable weekend from Sierra Bravo airsoft. Ran around like a loon for two days. Dressed like a PAVN officer. Lost weight. Had fun. Drank enough for five or six sensible men over 48 hours. Burned through a muchly amount of BBs. Took about 15 minutes to set up a shot that took out my son and a very close mate, whilst accompanied by close mate's son. My back told me that support gunner role is contingent on fitness yet again.
All very satisfying. Will do again.
The black pyjamas always win. Go home Yankee!

Enjoying the stars and a few ciders at Cajun Chicken. Great weekend so far.

Getting my loadout ready for a game the weekend after next. This post apocalypse look is seriously harder than it looks. Reckon my 1970s Warsaw Pact kit will be a good base.
Gas mask is de-filtered and ready.
Snow Wolf K98 is shooting uncannily well as usual.
TM 1911 is fine for a magazine a fill. If it's cold I'll use red gas. Since we're limited to 17 BBs it will be fine capacity wise.
Nice to have a game less than an hour away (ish).
Camping in October is fine if you have the kit. A touch of medicinal scotch will work wonders too no doubt.
-
it's events like that that make me want to open up my Tanaka m700 and see what's up with it as it's not shooting how I want it to (yes, I have 3 gas m700s!). It's in a real wood m700 stock and definitely can look the part for post-apoc; will bring it to Namsoft in 2023 if it's shooting well by then, which I sincerely hope it would be!
What event are you going to and where? Hope you have fun with it! -
I'm off to Stalkers at Tuddenham next weekend.
I'd like to see the wood m700. Certainly looking forward to Namsoft next year. Last game of the season has come to mean the coming of the autumn.
When I find what I know is lurking in the house kit wise, you may get a pic @Rogerborg. I've a pair of 1930s goggles that I want to re-lens for one. Should be on my dead Nazi tankman's skull but someone has moved them.
-
Going off for Vietnam themed silliness again this weekend.
Still picking the thorns out of my knees after the last game.
Still haven't got round to getting a cheap set of gel filled kneepads.
I have bought two slabs of ale and a bottle of Stoly though.
-
I think my CYMA AK is cursed. I've gone from loosing a mag each game to losing parts of the rifle.
The rear sight went the game before last, I've just noticed that the stock has sprung apart due to a lost screw.
Something else to ignore tbh...
-
I was about to pop a case of cloudy cider into my trolley this evening. I thought I'd treat myself for Crimbo. I then remembered the weight adding properties of the stuff, and that any added belly fat would mean that my winter Russian loadout would be too tight.
Can't decide whether I should be proud of the self control, or saddened by the reach of my obsession with running about with toy pews at my bloody age...
Enjoying an isotonic sports scotch in consolation.

Well underneath our tree sits a box 📦 about the size of an old gallon petrol can.
It say fragile, glass. When shaken its obviously liquid.
Upon further investigation 🔎 I have seen a label underneath which says in very small letters 'Bristol cider company'. Aha! A clue 🤔
I don't think she would get me a gallon of petrol, not a todays prices so putting two and two together I'm pretty sure it's cider. However, with it being from Bristol which I believe is the home of west country cider, its gonna be strong and possibly still cider.
I'm a fizzy cider type of animal.
So I'm either gonna hate it,which won't be well recieved, or I'm gonna love it and get smashed off my head 🙃 which also won't be well recieved.
Damed if I do and damed if I don't 😅😅
Merry Christmas 🎅 🎄

Just booked my Operation Thunder tickets for the weekend after this.
Bloody excited just thinking about going. Since I'm training pretty hard at the moment, my black PJs do emulate the pong of a chap whose been in the field for too long a couple of times a week.
Du ban GI!
-
Just checked when a game that I am interested in playing is on.
Turns out it's 9am tomorrow morning and I forget to get tickets. Bollox.
To console myself I bought tickets to all of the remaining Nam games and a modern milsim. Even ironed on a set of PAVN collar tabs ready for stitching.
Still have to fix my pith helmet. This may become a priority.

British Army lightweights. Leave them on the washing line for a couple of weeks to fade them.
You want these ones without the map pocket. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/264344266961?

Just counted my rifs... thirteen plus the never used pistol.
Sounds bloody unlucky to me, so the search for a PPSh is back on.
I clearly remember working out how much I would save buying a CM16 rather than renting one when I started out. What the bastard fuck happened? 😳
-
Just fitted a rotary hop to (one of my rapidly breeding) G&G M 4s. ML and Omega. HT SHS motor and some cosmetics/ergonomics.
The air seal seams fine judging by the consistency. Think I'll leave it there until it's time of the rattle can. The rest of the goodies can stay in their boxes for another rif.

Just had a look at some CYMA AK47 midcaps. Several going at around £20, the cheapest being £13 odd after postage.
I'm sure I paid less than £4 per 70 rounder from TG about six years ago.
First world problem and all that but still.

I've been getting some bits and pieces from SIXMM although for anything larger than a letter the postage is a killer.
Was gonna get some midcaps from there but they wanted £37 postage just for a box of 5
-
It’s a pain to get any CYMA / TM AK parts at the minute for whatever reason.
Close to binning it and getting something M4‘ish..
-
And just like that one of the lips on a Cyma AK74 Hicap just tore off. Of course I can't get anything reasonably priced in Rip off Britain! Got these for 4 quid each before. Cheapest I can find it is 13 now.
-
Just purchased a CYMA Dragunov. Now for the inevitable DMR-ing and standing to one side of other projects for the new toy...
