  5. No info currently but it'll be the same system as the AV-74M no doubt. Same mags however now in a "plum" colour too. There was also some "leaks" from QRF.Mag of: An AKM mag (So hopefully AKM next?) and also a 40 round Molot mag prototype which looks... interesting. This was also teased, a GRACH Which isn't the Raptor, assuming it is VFC making it which is also very exciting for RUSFOR players as the raptor is dog shit

  7. Ouch! I put a DNA outer barrel and gas tube on mine, and it's a nice weight improvement to the gun. Top tip if you didn't know - there's a cross pin in the gas block that you can only get to if you adjust it open (keep going - it'll appear eventually), which helps hold the gas tube in place. I punched mine out and haven't bothered put it back - I think this is the cause of a lot of peoples issues with the fine thread cracking, because it's really not obvious it's there until you take the gas tube out (and by that point it's too late and you've buggered it).

  8. Got to my first game for a month yesterday. Now the weather is nice and cold I busted out my full rusfor kit including the portable sauna that passes for 6b45 body armour and despite the lowest temp hitting 6 degrees I still had to strip a layer to avoid feeling totally roasted. Played the first game with my new pp19 from the classifieds and after dropping a m100 spring in it ran absolutely fantastically and I now look at my old ak sliding hop ups with disdain! There was a bit of variety to the usual mission types at Dirty dog which was much appreciated. Best of the day was each team being given a dummy VIP to guard while trying to capture the opposing teams VIP. I played the game as a medic and despite only shooting off one round I had a brilliant time moving the dummy from safe spot to safe spot and sprinting to revive other players. We eventually ran out of time having only briefly captured and then lost the opposing dummy but it was definitely one of the funner game modes I've tried recently. Highlight of the day was another player keeping the Halloween spirit alive and running around as Doctor Zoidberg.

  9. What do you want a hpa setup for that you couldnt acheive with another platform? Edit: that sounds like sarcasm but it's meant to be a serious question to see if turning to the dark side is actually going to give you what you want it to.

Hi everyone! 👋 I'm MT, currently based in Coventry. Have spent some time on airsoft but just joined this community. Due to academic pressure, I’m more of a collector than an active player, but still forward to chatting with everyone and joining some local games soon. Cheers!

  13. Mine is lovely, shoots brilliantly. The Heavy Recoil Discord is very favourable of them, you just got a lemon which happens sometimes. Though I haven't fiddled with mine at all bar locking it to semi only via inserting hard resin into the full auto selector slot. No NPAS nonsense, no hop fiddling, nothing.

  19. Me and my friend made it down to Worthing Airsoft this weekend just passed for... what turned out to be a pretty phenomenal day of airsoft. I really wanted to go so I could make an accurate comparison between Driver Wood and Worthing from a sniper's perspective. It was absolutely tipping it down on Saturday evening, night and into Sunday morning when I woke up, but fortunately it had pretty much stopped by the time I was getting into the car, and by the time we got to the site it had completely stopped. With the heavy rain we've been having, the site was pretty muddy, but at least it wasn't raining on us while we played! As we had no car to store stuff in, I only brought 1 rifle and 1 pistol, so the trusty pre-ban Tanaka m24 came out, but I took a huge gamble and used my TM M&P9L that I've never fielded since I won it in a raffle a number of years ago. I put in my standard hop configuration (Flamingo 50 degree rubber + Hadron H plate) to make sure it'd hop the .32s I would put through it, but otherwise hadn't touched it. Fortunately it worked really well, though I didn't need it during the day. I also used my lightest weight loadout with only a very lightweight belt kit that I usually pair with a chest rig, but didn't need to because the m24 magazines are small and I only have 4 of them at the moment. Anyway, first game was a basic king of the hill style game around one of the bases. I got into a position where I could peel players off the back of the base in question. I actually planned to take a really strong position a little further forward, but a large group of rentals went to the same area me and were making a lot of noise. Plus, the foliage is a lot thinner than it was last time I played (because winter is a thing), and I was wearing a flannel shirt so I wasn't too confident on staying hidden from that angle. I started racking up a stupid amount of kills though, since a lot of enemy players were using the back of the base to try and fight the rest of my team, blissfully unaware that I was about 70m off to their side with an angle on them. I did eventually get knife killed by a ghillie who went all the way around the site to get to me (took him the entire game to get there), but he immediately got taken out afterwards, so 90 seconds later I had respawned and was right back where I was before. However this time I did go slightly further forward as we had a good presence on one of the structures to my side that would help protect me from the vulnerable side, so I got into my originally intended position for the last 5 mins of the game. I had already got a lot of kills that game from the previous position, but that paled in comparison to my intended spot, as it watches the main pathway from their respawn back to the base that everyone uses (far from the only pathway back, but definitely the most used one), through a very small gap where there's no chance in hell of them spotting me. I went through all 4 of my mags in this last 5 minutes, which is only 40 shots, but that's a hell of a lot of shots for me, and pretty much every shot was a kill. A very good start to the day... Second game we swapped ends and I went to a spot I like from the other side. It wasn't anywhere near as fruitful as my spots in the first game as it's a bit more expected, and I did get taken out once while I was there because someone pushed up to the base aggressively and unfortunately flannel isn't great camo (I would've gone unnoticed if I was in my usual m81 woodland camo, let alone one of my ghillie setups). However, it's super easy to get back into so I left my backpack there and took a light jog back to spawn and then back to my spot. Really feeling the benefits of 8 weeks of couch to 5k, as I'm able to jog about the site with ease and have really quick recovery now. Can't recommend it enough for people who want to get fitter, as I am the opposite of a natural runner with my build and it has worked wonders for me (large and tall Dutch build that had me on the school rugby team as a teenager as number 8, even though I really didn't like playing rugby...) Third game had one of the marshalls acting as a blind guy guarding his moonshine at the bottom of the site. He was invincible, but would only shoot at noises, so you had to creep in and grab one of his barrels and then creep out without getting shot by him or any enemy players. We absolutely rinsed this game, because the yellow team kept shooting at the marshall (leading to him shooting back at them), and they tried pushing heavily towards our spawn near the top of the site, which was fine by me because I took a position in this overgrown fallen tree that even my flannel shirt remained hidden in and kept picking people off. Meanwhile, at the bottom of the site, blue team had one guy with a support gun who... put his gun down, took the box mag out, hid behind a tree and would occasionally shake it to make a bunch of noise and draw the marshall's attention, while others on the team slowly and silently tip toed up to grab a barrel. This game ended sooner than expected because blue team grabbed all of the barrels, so fourth game before lunch was a 3 base domination. Didn't get too much done in this one, but hit one of my favoured spots again. Worthing is very overgrown and even in the winter when the leaves are gone, there's still a hell of a lot of twiggy bits, brambles and evergreen foliage that make it hard to shoot long distance so there are only a handful of good positions to snipe from. I definitely think I will DMR more at Worthing in the future and maybe bolt action more at Driver Wood once I have my car and my license (counting down the days to my test in December...) After lunch we played a rolling assault, where blue team had to take a stretcher with a dummy on it to a bunch of bases. It was a really hard slog, but this game had some really great points for me. I couldn't use any of my usual sniping positions, so I had to try some far less than ideal positions. At the first base, I ended up lying prone off to the side where I could draw line of sight to the side of one of the structures but there was absolutely loads of foliage in the way and posting shots through it was as much luck as it was skill. However, if I moved forward at all, I would get taken out as a number of blues tried it and got taken out by someone further ahead who couldn't see me where I was (and couldn't hear me as my m24 is nice and quiet). However, I managed to take out about 5 defenders from this spot, posting shots through all the foliage and twigs but it wasn't exactly a one shot one kill deal. Second base we captured before I could get into a spot where I could make much of an impact, but third base I managed to get to a barricade under what is normally a holly bush in the summer where I could see a bunch of players near and inside the base. The shots were really difficult, as I had to get them over the barricade, under the bush, and also under a bunch of twiggy bits further down, but I managed to take out two defenders outside, and then two defenders in the top of the base. Then by the fourth base I managed to get into another spot where I could see the back of the base we needed to take. I got spotted by one guy, but I was out of his range so it wasn't too hard to take him out and three more from the back of the base, but time ran out before we could get the stretcher to that base. Final game was a classic. There was a box with a blue button and a yellow button and all you had to do was hold down your team's button to increase the time on the clock. The challenge was not getting shot while you do so. The first half of this game I was milling about and not really sure what to do, but eventually I pushed up to a tree where there was a part of our team watching the flank to the left, but I realised I had a perfect view into the base where the box was located. I initially was helping the team watch the flank, taking one guy out and calling out movement, but they had that under control and I soon saw a lot of the enemy team pushing into the base to push the button. Fortunately, they didn't spot me leaning against the tree in my goddamn flannel shirt, and I was able to just post shots constantly into the base, cracking a few shots off the side of the rental facemasks that kept popping up. Much like the first game, I burned through all four mags before the game ended, with a lot of those shots being kills, despite there only being about 15 yellow players left (against our 13 blue players. A lot of people had left before this last game) Overall, it was a really really good day, probably one of the better ones I've had in a while. Hit calling was mostly fine, though the marshalls said they got a lot of reports of people not taking their hits, however I didn't really see all that much of it myself (a few instances of it, but it was really uncommon). Game modes and objectives are definitely more well thought out than Driver Wood, the games are also definitely more inventive and fun, and the general vibe and community feel is definitely better. Also, not going back to the safe zone between games is a massive advantage at Worthing, as I hated having to go back every time at Driver Wood as I carry everything I need on me to play the whole day; however where Worthing really falls short is how awful it is for any sort of long distance shooting. The gameplay area at Driver Wood is definitely better (and I'd say the strongest part of that site), but on basically every other point I feel like Worthing is the better site.

  23. I offered £10 for that completely shit MP5K in the classifieds a while back. This is the charming reply I got from the seller: Wouldnt cover the postage, packaging and fees, do you get many free guns? I could just through it in the bin for the sake of 34p i'd get from your serious offer >.> am going to seriously reject that, but thanks for taking the time, to waste my time and hopefully you dont live much longer if this is how you spend your life... 24. I'm not an HPA user myself but I'd imagine it would really help if you specified a budget (with wiggle room if there is some) so those better versed than me could give advice of what hardware falls within it. I have bought a lot of my kit from HPA UK and as you'd probably guessed, they have a lot of HPA parts to build a stock tank setup.

  26. AF-UK will be migrating to new forum software within the next few weeks. You may notice a difference in the appearance and functionality of the forums, but your posts and content will carry over. The Classifieds will be wiped and rebuilt (this includes feedback), but will be available immediately after migration. The current forum software has become a huge headache The forums run on software called IPB. Back in 2023 IPB decided to discontinue their marketplace, and ever since this has meant maintaining certain code without the assistance of authors of the various 3rd party plugins that we use for things like The Classifieds, small moderation tools and other minor tweaks that you likely don't notice like dead thread protection. Without these modules it's impossible to maintain the current rendition of AF-UK without dropping certain large features. A lot of you joined the forums for The Classifieds, and many of you solely use the forums for them so it's untenable that many of the modules that AF-UK uses don't work properly with the latest versions of IPB. We're moving to new software Migration could take as little as a week but may take up to three weeks. Downtime when the migration happens should be less than 24 hours. The new Classifieds will be more reliable and should have a few extra features when it releases with the new forums. The forums themselves will remain largely unchanged. Some data will be lost, but most will remain Although all of your accounts and posts will be retained, many items such as feedback and current classifieds listings will be wiped. Please use the next week or so to save any data that you may need as nothing is guaranteed given the age of the AF-UK database. There is still a small possibility that a full forum wipe will need to take place, but this is very unlikely.

  28. Hello again, Op Venezian, the UK's first dedicated Halo LARP / Airsoft event has come and gone. It was a great event, with some lovely people and fun times. It was hosted at Gunman in Eversly, so a bit of a trek for me. Luckily some Scottish ODSTs picked me up on the way down. I'm glad to say that the HPA M7S performed flawlessly. I really enjoyed using it. It's so damn quiet with the suppressor. It was quite handy when I was playing as the Flood given I could easily one hand it to swing around wildly. The torch was pretty handy in the Flood infection night game (rather inspired and hair raising by the way, very fun). (Credit, Bipocalypse) (Credit: Bipocalypse) (Credit: Bipocalypse) Spartan Jess' episode 1 https://youtu.be/l1x2rKwVcvM?si=2vf9XkYxjTZ1Y2W2 If anybody's interested in attending next year, I can shoot you an invite to the discord. We actually had a lack of people willing to play URF (rebels) with minimal Halo gear which was surprising. Credit: SpartanJess I did finish the Reach backpack in time. Unfortunately in my sleep deprived rush, I managed to spill superglue on the cordura lid. I've yet to take decent photos, so I'll save that for another post. I've since started two new projects. Both very much WIP. One for later when it's fiscally feasible, a support weapon / emplacement for next year's event. Halo 2's M247 mounted machinegun. It'll require an order of steel and a lot of filament. It's 1.55m long, using a V3 gearbox and 15mm steel box section spine similarly to the BR55. I would use an M249 gearbox, but they're 3x the price and not very readily available. I'll build a tripod for it also. I've shelved that for now after making a start in favour of a project I can do right now. The MA5B. Powered by HPA, using basically any engine with a universal plugboard. Right now that's the Scalar engines and the Polarstar F2, maybe the Jack as far as I know. I am looking into the very real possibility of making a version that uses the P90 V6 gearbox eventually. The stock would have to be extended (easily done), the magazine would need to be different (smaller), and the gearbox would need a different cylinder head, nozzle and custom 3D printed tappet plate. I will be looking to sell the files to this as a sort of trial to see whether I run into issues with people being untrustworthy, and determine if I want to sell files in the future. I've designed it so it can be printed on standard sized printers and I'll be using steel rods only with no drilling of metal required. It will be using the tachyon round counter, and I'll make provision for either a custom torch to be used or a tactical one ( Fenix PD35 for example). Short-ish update today. 'Til the next post.

  29. No I wouldn't. I really don't know if it's sadism but i don't get the more power lot in airsoft!. I have seen people get their teeth shot out, i have had to dig BBs out my arm, still got a mark on my collar over a month after i got shot. All at UK limits most from long range shots. It's been proved time again you don't need power to get range and personally think airsoft would better with out snipers.
    1 point
  30. I think the current limits keep gameplay at a close range that encourages action and fun. I think having higher range is good up to a point (see paintball vs airsoft) but the 50-70m limit from a well tuned 1.14j airsoft gun is about right. Also, might be an unpopular opinion, but getting shot at close range by 1.14j hurts plenty for me. Much higher and I'd be less inclined to do CQB.

  31. I'd call these rather poor quality photos, but here you go regardless. Unfortunately most are done with a phone camera with the notable exception of the first one. Paint me like one of your French Marines This was a bit rushed, so I'll probably get another set of photos with a better camera, and hopefully do a shooting video or two.

  32. Hello again, I've made a fair bit of progress, so I felt I should drop an update on what I've been up to. The biggest project has been the SMG. To be seen completed (to be painted still) below, complete with functional suppressor and fairly game accurate red dot sight. The red dot is a Vector optics 1x22 V3. A very good value optic. It has an auto-off, which is great as I have a habit of killing batteries by leaving optics on... It's seen some improvements to the selector switch (new higher quality toggle switch), stock detent system, grip battery panel, and now includes a threaded barrel. The magazine was also improved (now a few mm wider to allow for extra M2 bolts which ensure no flexing apart of the two halves when using strong springs). These improvements will translate to the AEP version if I ever make another. It's also printed in a new ASA (123-3Ds brand), that I've found to be exceptionally printable in a mildly warm chamber. It's a little bit more flexible than the PLA-ST I used previously, but it's more temp resistant (fine to be left in a summer car in direct sun) and long term environmental stability (10y+). I've since acquired an Airtac tank, reg and line, along with a filter and pump. It's gruelling work (doubly so when I found the reg outlet had a leak, and I didn't turn the reg off, letting out most of the air), but tolerable. Parts were acquired for the M7, such as an FPS airsoft 185mm barrel, Lonex AUG hop chamber, XT barrel extensions, and an alu toob. Various little bits and pieces. First testing of the engine went well, though when I got it into the actual gun, ran into some consistency issues. As it turns out, stock tappet springs aren't nearly strong enough, and a stronger one had to be stolen from another replica. Unfortunately the extra strength tappet springs are ludicrously expensive for what they are. (sound warning) VID_20250703_212547966.mp4 See the basic working setup of the gun. The Seraph is a particularly unusual engine in that it requires a carriage with a tappet plate to be made. Thankfully I nailed the dimensions on the first go. See, comically large "ultra super sneaky suppressor". And torch mount with completed suppressor. The suppressor has a series of plastic rings holding some rods that keep the foam out of the path of the BB, while allowing the air to expand into the foam. I lined the inside wall of the suppressor with TPU rubber, and included some TPU cones. I'd do some testing to find what's most effective, but I'm plenty happy with it as is. I believe the extra moving parts (tappet plate) adds some unsuppressable noise. The loud crack is successfully deadened however. VID_20250726_215728216.mp4 Another improvement over the original is metal detent sockets for the foregrip. I went to the effort to add a metal plate in the stock, so I figured, why don't I have metal inserts for the foregrip also? I didn't like having metal on plastic, when I value longevity. I've also successfully managed to print polycarbonate (eSun) for the first time, so any clear parts you see are now in polycarb. This includes any high wear pieces or pieces that benefit from being stiffer, such as the feed nozzle, magazine release and hook etc, and the magazine base (which is very thin at the base, so benefits from the far better impact resistance over PETG). It's clear to allow you to see how many rounds are in the magazine (though unfortunately not while it's in the gun). The backpack is near completion, though due to life, it has sat with only spray putty, ready for more work for a time now. Padding, lid and straps are done. Hopefully soon to be completed, so I can use it to carry the HPA tank for the SMG. Buckles are 3D printed and magnetic. It's also a rather unintended design point that alice pack straps can be used if wished. I've also finished sewing the chest rig, completed some more BR-55 pouches (unfortunately run out of ranger green cordura, and now don't have enough for SMG pouches), and completed the arm panels for the pouldrons. Unfortunately ranger green cordura is shocking scarce, and the one place I can buy it, it's £30 per meter, 3 or more times the going rate for similar material. (don't know why this one is flipped, can't fix it). One small last thing, I added a USB charging board for the 3.7V battery on the helmet. Fancy! Thank you for reading. I plan to get some decent pics of me in gear soon. o/

  33. Hello again, It's been a slow few months. The moths inhabit the empty wallet, and the paint is slow to dry in the cold of late winter / early spring. I have since acquired the HPA engine (Scalar Seraph, though I've yet to acquire the tank and regulator. I've started working on the HPA adaptation of the M7 SMG, and will be looking to do do some preliminary thinking and design work for the MA5B (Assault Rifle). Cute lil thing. I reprinted the entire helmet as the prior one was too small for me. I also printed it as one piece instead of 2, out of PLA-ST instead of ABS. I got a significantly cleaner and stronger print. While experimenting with the electronics, it turned out that DC fans usually don't like PWM unless they're designed for it. This means that unfortunately I had to ditch the controllable fan speed for a simple on / off switch. Preliminary sanding done using orbital sander, proxxon pen sander for details, and hand sanding. My fingers and tendons thanked me for buying the pen sander. Layer of Motip spray putty that needs to be sanded right back to the base material. Leaving too much on makes the paint easy to chip / flake off. Unfortunately I spent a lot of time sanding the helmet smooth, painting it with a rather heavy top coat of Maston olive green, before figuring out an alternative finish that I'd rather use. It sealed the deal when I foolishly thought the paint was fully set and I turned it over to paint the bottom. Somehow I hadn't thought of making a helmet stand, and the paint on the top marked from the bubble wrap I'd set it on. I sanded it back a bit before applying the textured finish. The technique I discovered was simply painting over a textured spray paint, which provides a nice textured finish that's extra matt and scratch resistant. Unfortunately this meant I wasted rather a lot of somewhat expensive paint. Comparison between the same paint, both smooth and textured. Rustoleum textured paint. Created a helmet stand for painting without the paint ever touching anything. Overcoated with Maston olive green. Unfortunately the black also didn't fully set, and the masking tape marked it lightly. The lacquer evened it out well enough thankfully. I've never had this many issues with paints not setting even after days, even in the cold months. I had the same paint mark from sitting on fabric weeks after painting. I ended up using a food dehydrator inside a large cardboard box, set to 50'C for 12 hours to "bake" the paint. It seems to work well. Voila. I think it came out rather well. The chin strap was a bit of an experiment, to see whether a fully elastic strap would work. It didn't, it's *too* elastic. You want a little bit of flex to allow your jaw to wag, but too much and it allows the helmet to shift and pull right off your head if you fall. So as you can see there are multiple layers of elastic with some inelastic strap to remove the elasticity rather than ripping all the stitches. I'll certainly change it at some point. I've used a magnetic buckle as I did with my previous helmet that makes it easy to secure with gloves on. Due to the buckle, you can't get a cheek weld on the side it's on. It can be reversed easily, but not something you'll be doing mid game. Getting a cheek weld in general is awkward, but it's the price you pay to use a "sci fi" helmet. It is possible, and better than my prior helmet in most ways. I've also added TPU (rubber) pads to the inside and bottom of the mandibles to stop any scraping against guns to protect the finish of both and reduce noise. The padding is a rather crucial part of this helmet. Not only is it about comfort, but it's about safety too. I see a lot of dodgy custom helmets, and I wanted this one to not be a death trap while running around playing in the woods. I've bought a set of quality D30 pads from a body armour shop, which are amazing at absorbing impacts. Some may know D30 from motorbike armour / padding. These form the primary padding around the skull, while my own DIY padding protects the neck from rotation of the helmet. It consists of 20-30mm of hard / dense EVA foam, with a soft open cell fronting and sewn mesh covering. The fan and battery is integrated in such a way that it doesn't protrude or create any pressure points. The fan is a little louder than desired, but it does actually work to clear / prevent fog if you tilt your glasses slightly so there's a gap at the top for the air to pass into. I imagine it works well for goggles as the top vents would be closer to the duct outlet. The side panels can also be replaced with low profile ones that should allow wide goggles to fit. Key thing for me is it's low fuss, no tubes to mess with, and it's there when I need it. It's a little noisy for running all day, but there's enough capacity in the 18650 battery to do so. Something I may look into eventually is fitting a full face shield, a little like the NMPD police helmets in ODST. The Bolle sphere would be the main candidate as it has a 16J impact rating. One more project I'll be working on is a backpack for my kit and the HPA rig. I wanted to do the hardcase trooper backpack from Halo Reach. This'll be a tall print, using up 359mm of the XL's 360mm build height. I want to add some MOLLE modularity to it. I'll be sewing the straps and padding system, and likely padding out the inside so it's not a rattle can. On another post I'll detail the DIY chestrig I made once I have the chestplate and pouldrons finished up. Thank you for reading, more updates to follow

  35. Mine would disagree, 150 fps loss after 10 shots with multiple brands of npas, gas tube arriving broken, hop unit not adjusting out of the box... And that's just the issued I've found before getting a chance to use the thing in a game 😂

TM Detonics mags, leak free. £20 collected ( High Wycombe, Bucks) or if need posting then + £7 for post and paypal. Real steel stag antler grips, these are real antler not imitation, now these I've buggered guys, they were for a full size 1911 which I modified to fit a detonics, everything turned out OK but I've enlarged the grips screws hole more then they need to, still salvageable if you glued a bit of same colour plastic on the back to give the screw's something to bite on. Looking for a tenner collected or £16 posted including post and paypal. Kick in the teeth is they were £70 imported form US : ( Will combine post if you are buying both grips with mags.

  37. Sounds like my MP5K-PDW. Its had 3 loading nozzles, seals, springs, magazines modified, etc I don't think i've put 100 rounds through it yet. Usually i just get to unjam it and pick broken bits of BB out of its insides. 😭

  38. Picked up a VFC FAL from HPA-UK last week. Nice replica but jesus christ the issues I've already had with it... 160 FPS drops (from 350 down to 150) within 10 shots with both the Crimson NPAS AND the default VFC NPAS, on top of that the mock gas tube had decided to crack (Assuming in transport as it wasn't as tightly secured in the box) on the thread which seems to be a common issue too... Now it's currently in parts waiting for a new inner barrel to replace the crappy aluminium inner barrel (Why oh why is that even a thing any more?!) and a new hop unit as this one was fucked upon arrival and wouldn't adjust properly. Another £200 on steel parts to replace the poor quality of the chineseium they used for the barrel that attaches to the receiver and steel front sight/gas tube... Already spent just over £1000 (Replica included) and I've not even used it in a game yet... Thanks VFC 🙄
