That's one thing which tripped me up. Arriving late I missed the safety brief so I didn't know about that rule. I agree with it as it's an extra layer of safety, but what I didn't like was that when I was pulled up for it I mentioned that it wasn't on the website, just to get a curt "it's on the Facebook page". The same member of staff didn't look too happy when rather than give them any more money I used one of the spare pair of hiking socks i kept in my kit bag4 points -

When it comes to allergies and reasons like that I thought they were excused on this rule but looking at the website it doesn’t make that clear, I’d like to think they would. It’d be even more of a pants rule if they wouldn’t.3 points -
That's a shit rule. I like to have my own snap, always pack sandwiches or something of the like, and if a site says I can't do that I just see it as money grabbing as they are more bothered about making cash off their customers who have already paid a bit to be there. My brother-in-law has severe allergies and can't have a lot of food or food that has even been in the vicinity of cheese otherwise he goes in anaphylactic shock, so if they are doing cheese burgers that day he can't have anything off the grill so it's best he brings his own snap that he knows what's in it and3 points

So what about people with specific dietary needs, gastrointestinal issues like ibs or diverticular disease ?, i get it, he's a greedy cnut, but if you cant eat what their offering, are you expected to go hungry for the day. Feck that, tell me what I can or cant do when it comes to safety or gameplay, but not what I can eat. He can stick his site up his arse🍑3 points

I really would like to give Driver Wood a spin as it looks great and gets good feedback on here, always a fairly anccurate indicator I feel. Now, the only reason I won’t is because of the ‘not allowed to bring your own food’ rule he runs there. This may sound petty to many and I understand that completely, it’s also the owners site and he is naturally entitled to make any rules he likes however I feel that’s a very outdated and unnecessary policy these days, nonone else I’ve ever visited does this. I would have far more understanding if he was running a restaurant and people were bringing in maccy d’s all the time…. Anyhoo, big shame as again, it’s meant to be a pretty awesome site.3 points -

I can definitely understand the added safety element to barrel socks. I think I'm just thinking too much into my GBBR mind set of I have no mag in my gun so it can't fire a round and forget about the retards with aegs who don't observe the no dry fire rule. So definitely appreciate the added safety they offer.2 points

Not so much just bought, but certainly new in the last month. This has more or less instantly become my favourite RIF. Stock apart from a Waldo Dynamics hop arm. Was a bit of a basket case when I got it, the manufacturer had managed to glue the hop adjuster shut in their attempt to thread lock it into the upper. After removing all of that I fitted the Waldo arm and a 4UAD bucking, but got terrible nozzle sticking so swapped back to the original bucking. Despite that it shoots great. At my local CQB site I can easily one shot all of the Attack Sense targets dotted around the arena.2 points -
Even if it wasn't allergy related etc, some people like to know what they're eating, & might not fancy cock & bollocks chicken nuggets, or minced arsehole burgers 🤮. What next, you can only use the BB's he sells 😬2 points

That is a really dumb rule. Does it cover drinks as well? I always bring a thermos of tea, especially on a cold day. And an electrolyte drink for the end of the day. I don't eat meat so I just bring my own cheese sarnie for lunch, and a snack bar to stash in a spare pouch.2 points -
bit late for OP, but maybe helpful for others..... was also going to suggest the SPR300. picked one up myself recently and its a really nice RIF, though i do need to try and get used to the sniper playstyle, as im normally pushing up close with the action to get my moneys worth, but a recent injury has made me consider having a fallback option so i dont over exert myself, and after watching videos about the rifle from BZ tactical, i bit the bullet (pun intended) and bought one best part is the dual mag system, which i also was confused by.... basically the rifle is set up using VSR compatible internals. with the length of bolt pull, you would be unable to feed BBs into the hop from a magazine in the correct position to look like real steel rifle, so they installed a feed bridge to transfer BBs from the mag, through the hand guard and into a VSR hop unit, so the regular mags act as speed loaders. but if you pop the bridge piece out (a bit fiddly, but doable) you can then pop a normal VSR mag in the slot and have it feed directly into the hop chamber, so great if you already have lots of VSR mags, or fancy buddying up with a friend and need to be able to share ammo/mags do you recall what spring you upgraded to? not sure what i have in my stock one, but if i ever need/want to upgrade the power, i dont want to waste my money by mistake on the same or a weaker spring than i already have2 points

A Tokyo Marui Combat Delta EBB? I had never heard of this one. There appears to be a line-up of TM AAA battery powered 6mm airsoft pistols. I had to have one in my modest collection and opted for a 1911 copy. Got it from a German airsoft store. It's not expensive, the plastic is rather toy grade. Performance is toy-grade as well. It only dented the paper target I used for testing. It's a can plinker. Glad I got one 😉1 point

System: New Forum Software
Mr Dellski reacted to proffrink for a topic
AF-UK will be migrating to new forum software within the next few weeks. You may notice a difference in the appearance and functionality of the forums, but your posts and content will carry over. The Classifieds will be wiped and rebuilt (this includes feedback), but will be available immediately after migration. The current forum software has become a huge headache The forums run on software called IPB. Back in 2023 IPB decided to discontinue their marketplace, and ever since this has meant maintaining certain code without the assistance of authors of the various 3rd party plugins that we use for things like The Classifieds, small moderation tools and other minor tweaks that you likely don't notice like dead thread protection. Without these modules it's impossible to maintain the current rendition of AF-UK without dropping certain large features. A lot of you joined the forums for The Classifieds, and many of you solely use the forums for them so it's untenable that many of the modules that AF-UK uses don't work properly with the latest versions of IPB. We're moving to new software Migration could take as little as a week but may take up to three weeks. Downtime when the migration happens should be less than 24 hours. The new Classifieds will be more reliable and should have a few extra features when it releases with the new forums. The forums themselves will remain largely unchanged. Some data will be lost, but most will remain Although all of your accounts and posts will be retained, many items such as feedback and current classifieds listings will be wiped. Please use the next week or so to save any data that you may need as nothing is guaranteed given the age of the AF-UK database. There is still a small possibility that a full forum wipe will need to take place, but this is very unlikely.1 point -
New gun day. ❤️ Tac 41 lite, it's reputation preceeds it. Beautifully made and well presented in its box. I opted to get the extra 110 shot magazine for aesthetics and functionality, it came with the smaller one already in the box and an extra spring. The quality is evident, especially the aluminium receiver/scope mount. Glad I opted for this rather than the sport version. It's quick and easy to assemble, there's instructions in the box but being a man I didn't need them. Id watched enough YouTube reviews before purchasing to know how to put it together. I'll be purchasing more mags and the recon stock from fire support in the future to give me more flexibility in the field but for now I'm a very satisfied customer. Unfortunately I'm not allowed it till Christmas, so I haven't properly fired it yet but the action is smooth and it all functions perfectly. Can't wait for Christmas. Thanks to impulse and others for the recommendation.1 point

Sky's Halo airsoft projects (WIP)
John_W reacted to SkywardSoul117 for a topic
Hello again, Op Venezian, the UK's first dedicated Halo LARP / Airsoft event has come and gone. It was a great event, with some lovely people and fun times. It was hosted at Gunman in Eversly, so a bit of a trek for me. Luckily some Scottish ODSTs picked me up on the way down. I'm glad to say that the HPA M7S performed flawlessly. I really enjoyed using it. It's so damn quiet with the suppressor. It was quite handy when I was playing as the Flood given I could easily one hand it to swing around wildly. The torch was pretty handy in the Flood infection night game (rather inspired and hair raising by the way, very fun). (Credit, Bipocalypse) (Credit: Bipocalypse) (Credit: Bipocalypse) Spartan Jess' episode 1 https://youtu.be/l1x2rKwVcvM?si=2vf9XkYxjTZ1Y2W2 If anybody's interested in attending next year, I can shoot you an invite to the discord. We actually had a lack of people willing to play URF (rebels) with minimal Halo gear which was surprising. Credit: SpartanJess I did finish the Reach backpack in time. Unfortunately in my sleep deprived rush, I managed to spill superglue on the cordura lid. I've yet to take decent photos, so I'll save that for another post. I've since started two new projects. Both very much WIP. One for later when it's fiscally feasible, a support weapon / emplacement for next year's event. Halo 2's M247 mounted machinegun. It'll require an order of steel and a lot of filament. It's 1.55m long, using a V3 gearbox and 15mm steel box section spine similarly to the BR55. I would use an M249 gearbox, but they're 3x the price and not very readily available. I'll build a tripod for it also. I've shelved that for now after making a start in favour of a project I can do right now. The MA5B. Powered by HPA, using basically any engine with a universal plugboard. Right now that's the Scalar engines and the Polarstar F2, maybe the Jack as far as I know. I am looking into the very real possibility of making a version that uses the P90 V6 gearbox eventually. The stock would have to be extended (easily done), the magazine would need to be different (smaller), and the gearbox would need a different cylinder head, nozzle and custom 3D printed tappet plate. I will be looking to sell the files to this as a sort of trial to see whether I run into issues with people being untrustworthy, and determine if I want to sell files in the future. I've designed it so it can be printed on standard sized printers and I'll be using steel rods only with no drilling of metal required. It will be using the tachyon round counter, and I'll make provision for either a custom torch to be used or a tactical one ( Fenix PD35 for example). Short-ish update today. 'Til the next post.1 point -

Having done up a replica G3 from an old TM version made from parts. I wanted a scope on it, but didn't just want an ordinary scope and didn't wanna pay for the scope that goes with the gun in the real world. Anyhoo, I started with a cheap 4x40 normal scope and cut it down. Emptied it out and put a bit of 30mm pipe on the back. I had a TM MP5 claw mount and cut the top off, filling any gaps in with milliput. A friend 3d printed some spacers and I glued them to the scope I was using. I glued various spare caps on and put a real G36 3x inner scope part to have some sort of sight picture through it. Sprayed up black and flip up end caps to finish. A bit later on I decided I wanted the more modern type lower that I'd seen with the German soldiers in Afghanistan. I used a cheap MP5 Navy lower and filled in the embossed bullet symbols. Sprayed it with bumper paint and drew on the selector markings. I bought a real selector lever from D&B Militaria and drilled a new hole to slot it right through to the other side. It may feel like a long winded way of making it but apart from the lower I already had and the selector which was only a couple of quid all it cost me was a bit of time.1 point

Saw this thread and thought I'd share one of my projects I'd done a couple of years ago. Nothing too fancy but it's unique as I've not seen any other airsoft replica Turkish HK33 looking replicas as accurate tbh. Classic Army Base gun. Slim Handguard made from a real G3 Handguard. Railed Handguard made from an old springer shotty and an MP5 3d printed handguard. The GL front end was a cheap battery box cut to suit with the handguard made from foamex board. The cocking handle was fashioned from foamex board too. The lower was a standard MP5 one with the embossed bullet symbols filled in. Repainted in OD then the new bullet symbols drawn on freehand by marker pens. The magazine is just a spring Sig552 one modded to fit. Again, nothing too fancy, but I like the finished job.1 point
