  2. Went to Gunman Alpha yesterday for a themed ‘90s game. It was the invented nation of Sahud occupied by Russians vs the NATO forces. Everyone made lots of effort with period kit and it worked really nicely. The event really leant into the roleplay element and the whole day was tracked with a giant ‘morale-o-meter’. In short the Sahudi’s has tasks to do to make rebellion popular with the people, while the NATO forces had to win hearts and minds. For lots of tasks there were different ways of going about it, and some outcomes would have positive effects on the morale, some outcomes negative. I was on the Sahudi ‘side’ but myself and another were actually CIA operatives under cover. We kept well hidden within the Sahudi team, until we were eventually assassinated by our own NATO forces, who opted to put spent Russian cartridges around our bodies to sow seeds of discord into the Sahudi/Russian alliance. It was interesting focusing more on the roleplay rather than the shooty shooty and the first time I’ve done this sort of game. I wouldn’t want to do it every weekend but it was cool to try. If you fancy it but don’t have the kit, Gunman has a huge stockpile of stuff, with lots of people borrowing period kit for the weekend. Not sure when the next one is, but I’ll go again.

  5. Today was an invitation only event at Airsoft Plantation; 32 players were present along with a player marshal on each side. The first game of the day had two stages; in the first, we had to defend a stretcher that we had hidden in the bunker in the mortar pits area; once the red team captured it, we switched to stage 2 where they had to get it, with a player on it, to the plane at the DEA base. We had one life in each location, while the attackers had infinite buddy regens after a 30 m fallback. I took up a position on the far side of the mortar pits, where I would be able to help defend against any enemy who tried to swing round and attack from that side. Some of them did and they were sent back to find a colleague to regen on. After doing this a few times, an attacker and I traded kills and I wandered off to the DEA base, where I set up in a favourite bush. We held up their advance on the DEA base for quite a while, despite being attacked from 180 degrees. Eventually a wafty shot came wandering into the bush, touching me very gently on the leg. In the reverse of this, a group of us swung around the mortar pits and attacked from the far side, which we seemed to clear out rather quickly, as other colleagues moved in from other directions. A brilliant grenade attack on the top deck of the bus cleared out the last defenders and we located the stretcher in the horse box. After a slightly reluctant player had taken up position on the stretcher, we set off for the DEA base, with the stretcher team being held back until the area was cleared. Our little group pushed around to the right, slowly helping to clear out the very determined defenders so that the stretcher could be rushed to the plane in a time that was a mere 45 seconds faster than the red team had managed. After the usual short break to reload etc, we set out to defend two crates of beer that we could locate anywhere we chose in the village; I hid one in the fuel dump. We had two lives in the village, while the attackers again had infinite regens, this time at the silver birch, which was also their start point. The enemy attack opened with a barrage of grenades, which had very little effect as they mostly fell short. Fighting on our left, I was with a group who held up the enemy on that side for a considerable time, although we were slowly being ground down. Eventually, I was hit and fell back to the fuel dump, where I was finally hit from a slightly unexpected direction. When this was reversed, I went into the village through the suburbs, taking out a few enemy players as we slowly cleared out the defenders. However, we could not locate the crates of beer; eventually, I found one secreted in a large wooden crate, which the marshals decided was an ungentlemanly place to hide it and imposed a time penalty on the defenders. The other one was finally found hidden under the barrel barricade. Lucheon was then taken, which meant cold pizza for me; yum! After we had dined, we went out for a free for all in the woods. Once you were hit, you joined the player who shot you if they could put their hand on you within 10 seconds. If they couldn't, you were on your own again until someone managed to hit you and claim you. Another player and I traded shots, forming a two person team; we quickly acquired a couple of colleagues and set up a perimeter about 25m behind the kill house, backed up against the earth bank, which we held throughout the game, preventing the enemy getting a hand on our shot colleagues and reclaiming them ourselves. By the end of the game, we had been reduced to a team of three, as one of us got a bit too far away and was shot and claimed by the group that had occupied the kill house. It was a chaotic and rather fun game. The next game required us to prevent the attackers, who started at the border, obtaining an ammo box from the ridge fort and transporting it to the wobbly bridge. We had two lives in front of the wobbly bridge and one beyond it; the attackers had infinite buddy regens after a 30m fall back. I took up a position on the far right, hoping to ambush any attackers who came that way. After taking out a couple, I was delighted to see the opposing team's player marshal carefully picking his way along the site boundary; he then had to climb over a large fallen tree, after which I double tapped him. He took his cowboy hat off, threw it to the floor and sank down while proclaiming "I give up!" before getting up again and trudging off. I then set off to shoot the attackers in the back, which I did several times before they finally got the ammo box to the bridge that wobbles. Several players had to leave at this point; those of us who remained went to the village. After the teams had been rebalanced, we played a quick game of last team standing. The teams started at opposite ends of the village with everyone having one life; the winners would be the team that the last surviving player belonged to. I moved up along our right, taking out a couple of enemy players before I was hit and sent back to the safe zone, ending my day. It was a good, old fashioned day of airsoft. AP is a huge site that easily absorbs 200+ players; playing with a fraction of that number really changes the dynamics, resulting in a very different experience. 6. Only stayed for the first couple of games, but long enought to realise I need to attend more often. The weather was mixed, light showers pre-game then heavier during the brief to nice and sunny by our first game. We were attacking in the first game, I used the LR300 which performed pretty well but the mags I used didn't perform as well, still managed a couple of kills (pretty sure 1 was a teammate ), our team won but tbh I was mostly laying down trigger spamming covering fire, respawned a couple of times and got back into it. The second game we were defending, I used the TM URG-I but the only 'enemy' I really saw were out of range until the last 5 mins or so, they got close enough to have me respawning a couple of times but I'd be surprised if I got any kills. The most possitive part of my day was getting my combat jacket zipped up*, WOOHOO..! *tight fit tho.

  10. Today was just one of those days for me. Played half the day at Worthing and then me and my friend left at lunch due to gun issues. The day itself was mostly good, with good hit taking, though the marshalls did have to collect everyone together to go over a few issues that happened (full auto up close and people removing eye-pro in the gameplay area) and the only real issue outside of these that were dealt with was some pretty rampant spawn-camping in the long game before lunch. Temperature was perfect too, a bit colder than it has been, but still probably between 18 - 20 celcius. We were dropped off today, as the guy we usually go with has had his car break down and I'm still a few months off from my test, so I packed light. Went with the hawaiian shirt today as the flannel was too invisible last game day and I needed to up the ante, so a bright hawaiian shirt was the pick, with my usual not-jeans and Aliexpress belt kit and chest rig. Only brought the one gun and one pistol, as I didn't want to leave any of my rare stuff lying about the safe zone; I have never heard of anyone having stuff nicked at Worthing as the community is pretty great there, but I don't want to take the chance with pre-ban Tanakas and other not-so-common gas rifles, so pretty much everything I had with me could come out into the gameplay area. The one gun was one of my MWSs, the mk12 mod1 that I ran last game day and was flawless all day, alongside my TM p226 as a sidearm. Since then, I haven't done anything to it, so it should be fine, right? Well, it was not fine. My MWS for whatever reason wasn't pushing the bolt all the way forward. I tested it on all 7 short mags I had with me and when I put the mag in, pulled the charging handle back and released it, it went almost all the way forward, but stopped short, not feeding a BB into the hop unit and therefore venting the whole mag when I pulled the trigger. A very kind bloke offered me his regular length MWS mags and while I could get a shot or two off with those, by the 2nd or 3rd shot it did the same thing, bolt not going all the way forward and then venting all the gas. So that was that, my MWS wasn't working at all. This meant that me and my very obvious hawaiian shirt had to go out in the morning with just my pistol; on the plus side, I definitely looked the part of "some CIA guy about to go shoot up a drug den in Cuba" as one of my mates put it, and I do love looking the part as a filmsim enjoyer, even at skirmish games. Fortunately, my p226 was functioning flawlessly, but I wasn't looking forward to how I was going to have to play. Especially when I saw that there were about 10 ghillies on site today. Anyway, first game was a king of the hill style game around the tower base. Rather than post up where I normally do with my sniper rifles and DMRs, I went full-send. First game I managed to get all the way up the side, taking cover in a spot where I could pick people off on a flank. Spent most of the game bouncing around there until I was finally taken out, but got some great kills with the pistol. Then we swapped ends and I went full-send again, running up to the same spot to stop the enemy team from doing what I did in the last one. One of the enemy ghillies went all the way around the other side of the site to come in behind us, shooting my friend and one other of our team until I burst out, running across and shooting at him. I don't think I hit him, but I caused him to have to move enough and caused enough commotion to where some of the rentals turned and hosed the area with full auto and someone got him. I then medic'd my friend back in, so I'll call that a win. Second game was... difficult. Because we had won the first game on both sides, we had the challenge of taking a stretcher to 6 different areas of the site, having to hold the areas for 10 mins with the stretcher before moving onto the next. We started at the bottom of the site and got to our first objective quite quickly. Had some of the ghillies try and harass us, but we just pushed through quickly and got to the base, then moved off before they could really do anything. Second objective was difficult, at the top of the hill that we were at the bottom of. This was challenging, as their spawn wasn't too far away and wasn't down a hill like ours was, so when they identified where we were with the stretcher, it became very difficult to push it. However, we managed it with some great aggressive play by half of our team; a group of regulars and a family of rentals. Dad, mum, and either both their kids or their kid and his friend, but there were 4 of them and they absolutely got stuck in, helped us with the stretcher and played their absolute hearts out, so massive respect to them. Once we had that objective, the next base we had to get to was... right outside the enemy spawn and this is where the gameplay completely broke apart. We were still having to respawn at the bottom of the hill and the enemy team had a very, very short walk from their respawn to the objective so it just became impossible to push. After I got hit carrying the stretcher, I pushed up aggressively after I respawned in, running around and making the dug in people have to worry about multiple angles which helped get them taken out. We almost got the objective, despite it being right next to the enemy respawn... until we got shot in the back. What we found after this was that the enemy team were sending a lot of people into the very dense part of the site and using that to basically spawn camp us on the hill. I saw at this point a lot of people had given up, because they were going down the hill, spawning, going up a tiny bit and just getting shot. I don't know if anyone reported it to the marshalls, but with only a few minutes left I made one last hurrah along one of the flanks, taking out two people with my pistol before the game ended. It was a real shame for me today, as I really needed a good day of airsoft after work has been a pain in the ass the past few weeks (on a project that is like pulling teeth at the moment...), but with the MWS not working and having to run around a very dense woodland site, against an enemy team with at least 6 ghillies, in a bright hawaiian shirt with just a pistol was... not ideal and got very frustrating. Even with just a regular 1J rifle things would've been a lot easier, but accurate pistol shooting out to 40m+ is very difficult, even with real ones that have way better ballistics than our toy guns, so I was struggling today. On the plus side, my Earmor m31s were really good. Haven't worn them in a while, but figured I'd give them a run as I always use a headset in games like Tarkov or Gray Zone Warfare, so I figured I should use them in airsoft, and the difference was noticeable. Not so much with footsteps (a little bit, but not *that* much), but what it was amazing for was helping me pinpoint where people were shooting from which was a massive benefit. Oh well. Two weeks to wait until the next one, and depending on how it goes with my friend's car will dictate whether I need to start running my Vietnam kit, as I want to make sure that works before the September 'Nam game if we even make it there. I know he'll be gutted if he has to miss the September 'Nam game as he's an older gentleman and doesn't know how many more years he has to play, but with his car acting up and that only being a month away, we might not make that either. I won't have a car until about October (test is in December), so I can't even lend him mine as it'll be a month too late

  34. This popped up on my faceache feed, thought I'd share. 𝗨𝗞𝗔𝗣𝗨 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘀 𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝗮𝘁 𝗧𝗮𝘅 𝗧𝗿𝗶𝗯𝘂𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝘁𝗼 𝘄𝗶𝗻 𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗳𝘂𝗹𝗹 𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗥𝗜𝗙𝘀 UKAPU has recently supported one of our members with regards to an import of airsoft replicas into the UK that turned out to be a rather difficult case, which shockingly spanned nearly two years from the date of seizure to resolution. Our member approached us almost a year after the consignment was seized by Border Force, after they had experienced difficulties attempting to prove to Border Force that our member had good reason to import realistic imitation replicas into the UK. Whilst we supported our member by means of comprehensive written submissions both to Border Force and the First-tier Tribunal (Tax), ultimately the Tribunal Judge decided the case in favour of our member due to procedural issues unconnected with our written submissions. We were left in no doubt however that our written submissions had a positive outcome on these proceedings and possible future proceedings. Sadly due to the considerable time delay between the seizure and when the cause was concluded, Border Force had destroyed our member’s consignment however Border Force swiftly and fully compensated them for their financial losses. We at UKAPU would like to commend our member, for their resilience with dealing this matter. If you have any issues with importing replicas into the UK, then UKAPU is here to help. In their own words, they didn't win the case but it's good to see some positive involvement.

The old Depo was ace, I still haven't tried the new site yet as even recent reports suggest it's still too dark and full of bottlenecks. Have you played there? Biohazard in Stevenston / Ardeer is a good shout too if you're out west, they make really good use of the available space with some clever build-work and well run games.
