    Stolen Kit!

Is the view that it's fucking stupid to leave your guns in a car? Yeah, that's ALWAYS been a dumb move but people never learn

As an ex copper myself - thank you. To the OP any sympathy I may have had is gone, don't leave valuables in cars.

I note that you didn’t answer my question. You cannot just make sweeping statements about the Met not being interested in recovering real firearms without being able to back them up. I do live in London. Your views about the police are not representative of what they actually do and the issues that they face on a daily basis. My eldest son’s partner is an officer in the Met and I also regularly deal with Met officers relating to a range of cases. They are not the Mayor’s personal army; they are regularly dealing with appalling situations and deserve the support of the population, rather than regurgitated nonsense.

    Stolen Kit!

Moral of the story is, don't leave expensive kit in your vehicles, theft from vehicles has been rife for decades, particularly in the big cities, blaming the current negative perception of policing is just a cop out, no pun intended, I've never heard of a vehicle being broken in to that didn't have something of interest visible to passing scrotes.

  5. Click below to open the boxes. Mostly from WGCShop, who luckily had exactly what I'd been looking for on the tan T-2 and 20rnd PMAGs. I've settled on 4x ACOGs as my standard for pretty much all gats I'll use outside, but presumably Trijicon deployed their lawyers recently or something along those lines, because almost all the good replicas were gone from AliEx. Luckily many of the Ali stores just have their own websites under the same names with almost identical selections and pricing, so the scope is direct from SpecPrecision and the markings are *chef's kiss* (including the embossing on the right side).

  6. No I opted for the 3.5" as they were selling out fast - I will be adding the 2" soon though I just want to see how the etching stuff goes as it's the only thing letting down a superb piece of kit! I will likely add the 6" on release also to complete the set ?

  7. There you go - my work is here is done - plus you're a 1911 man I see You should get yourself over to my local site. Do you have both the 2" & the 3.5" - how the 2"? I didn't pick one up as I thought the 3.5" would be the shortest skirmishable barrel, plus I thought I'd best save instead for the longer barrel models as I'm having them as soon as they show up in HK. Very happy to see the manual online (finally!) although disappointed to see it doesn't have the useful *internal* diagrams I was hoping for. It does reference what I think will be the at least the 6" model (Apr-004). Not sure if its a 4" or ? though the apr-003. Roll on May!

No manual or hop key with mine either. I didn't know Tango Down did etching etc. - that would be extremely convenient seeing as their shop is 10 mins from my gaff!

  9. I’ve just done some upgrades on my VSR-10 and feel pretty chuffed with myself so thought I’d share. when I bought the rifle I added straight away, Action Army Hop up unit Maple leaf 60 degree Omega Nub Today I’ve added, Action Army trigger unit, piston, spring guide AirsoftPro M110 spring It was a bit more involved than I thought, getting the anti-tamper pin out of the cylinder was pretty intense. Really didn’t want to bugger it up and have to buy a new one. Drilled it out, with a mixture of pillar drill and Dremel. I’ve done some tests in the garden at 30m with .30 and it feels really nice, adjusted the hop up and zeroed the scope as best I can. Looking forward to the next game in a few weeks. I don’t have a Crono but think it could be around 1.8j, does that sound about right? I might look at a different spring but will see how I get on. Only downside is it’s lost that loverly quiet pop sound that the standard VSR has, at least my son’s one still has that sound!

I'd stick it in one of the integrated mag pouches on the cummerbund, probably the rearmost one on your non-trigger side (so the left if you're right handed) and route your PTT and headset/earpiece/fist mic up the edge of the rear plate and over your shoulder. Or just chuck it in your back pack.

  16. Tbh most BBs are decent nowadays. You don't see much of those old 0.12g or 0.2g bags with bubbles in them anymore, at least in reputable stores and sites. I think it is harder to find a bad bag than a good one now.

    Stolen Kit!

My only case for leaving them in the car is this, I have 4 kids, 4 very curious kids. I did have the case in the loft, where the temperature fluctuates, two mags blew for no reason, I repaired them but refused to put the case back in the loft, the ateca my car has a false bottom in its boot, so I put the case in there so my kids wouldn't be probing, their allowed to probe my L96 for a few reasons, its bright fucking orange, the bolt is spring and heavy to pull, the mag is at another house. Until my youngest is 10 the guns weren't allowed in the house. Now in regards to my views on the met, thats how it is, my partners car was smashed up, and they said there was nothing they could do. Our downstairs neighbour regularly hurls verbal abuse at my missus and daughter demanding they cover up and wear a hijab, again won't do anything, nor when he threw a brick through our window, cant exactly blame us for having no faith in the police. Now if this has offended some I am sorry, but my personal experiences from being a young lad raised by cops, to what I've experienced as an adult hasn't been the best. I know they have a shit job, especially in London, but they don't help themselves sometimes. Regardless, drop it. I know the kit isn't coming back now, even with the MTR being very distinct

They have closed your case in the sense that they are not actively pursuing your specific break in. That means the items are recorded ready for anything that turns up in their general business Closing the case has no bearing on whether or not the goods will be recovered at a later date - the information recorded has the potential to identify items found with someone as stolen Have a sensible conversion with your parents. How far would they have gone into a car break in with stolen goods? Some finger prints and recording the case with a potential flagging of the usual suspects? Or would they stop any explicit pursuit of a single break in on the basis that could direct to an offender after 24 hours would lead to someone who no longer has the goods? I note that you have made reference to ‘dark humour’ Dark humour laughs at the taboo, it doesn’t mean comparing the norm to the taboo. It also still needs to be funny, and for a joke to be funny it needs to have a twist, usually being close to the truth. Your NKVD reference would have only worked if the Met closed your case in 24 hours with the first person in sight, not that they aren’t actively pursuing.

  22. Years ago the usually correct advice was to avoid shops with bb in the name as they sold cheap unskirmishable crap. Over the past decade or so many of these shops have started to stock better guns too and can be quite competitive in price at times if you know what you're after. Just dont fall for the trick they often pull of inflating the original RRP so the "sale" price looks better

If you live in London, you'd get why so many of us are frustrated with the met and have no faith in them, they're the mayor's personal army now as far as we're concerned. But im ditching the topic because the dark humour went over people's heads. They are closing the case because yes there is a lack of evidence, they have my ipads serial as that was also taken (from underneath the driver seat) so hopefully that'll come on line soon

Sorry to hear that. It's genuinely infuriating. It's not weird at all that airsoft helps with depression. It's like going to the gym or any other activity that releases endorphins. I hope you get it all back.

  28. I've never personally seen a positive review of any of these events, not denying some might exist but I've only come across scathingly negative reports. I'm honestly shocked to the point of comedy that they're still going ? I feel like they're only saved by the fact that there's very, very little else in terms of options for big weekend games that aren't leet-hardcore muh-imershuns MiLsiM which will entice people to go to the expense and effort of significant travel; especially given the rare and unusual sites they somehow (??) manage to obtain usage of. I don't run sites, zero experience in that area, but the impression I get is that people who have done it for years are constantly tweaking their layouts and games to make best use of the physical area available. They usually start off with at least minor issues, often major ones, but if they refine the site over time they've got a chance of keeping a place going long term. Hence, I would personally have pretty much no expectations of an unusually large game running even close to smoothly at any location that's never been used for airsoft before. That's no dig at all at people who go along to such things, I also really want to play at disused theme parks, prisons, forts etc, way more appealing than yet another patch of flat woodland with some plastic sheet stapled to pallets. Just an issue with this type of game organisation that I can't really foresee being overcome.

  30. None of the bad stuff surprises me, years before AI started running games, the team behind the magazine turned up at a number of walk-on days at various sites, & they acted as if the rules didn't apply to them, cheating on a monumental level. Any wonder that the games they organise are equally as bad, never felt inclined to sign up for any of their events, irrespective of how good the locations looked potentially.

The previous owner gave up Airsoft years ago and was about to bin them all when a chance conversation about Airsoft led them to be dropped off at my house.... They're at least 15 years old and in need of some TLC but blimey. Day went from meh to WHOA!!!

  34. I went in yesterday at lunchtime. They have very few bb bottles left. Mostly the Perfect BLS .2s and .25s Tracer ones. I bought 6 bottles of the .3 Devils and a bunch of other stuff. They had none of the G&G or BLS.28s left. Got 2 Nuprol AK Flash Mags, couple of possibly Boneyard RIFs that they didn't have on the website, a couple of decent old stock Viper Special ops zipped jumpers they stopped making 15 years ago that I have been looking for for a while. It's just one guy left in the shop. The shutter is half down so he can concentrate on internet orders and people who are in the know can ring the shop when they are outside to be let in. Mostly to prevent browsers/time wasters. It's looking awfully empty in there. I was told that Saturday will likely be the last day they open.

  38. Some are simply battery cases, mainly for rifs that don't have space in the front rail/guard or a butt stock, others have basic functions like a torch/lazer, others are the real deal and are wasted for airsoft but some players like to have the real thing.

Kinda says it all really, thanks for the heads up. Thing is, it's not like he hasn't got paypal, he has but his outright refusal to accept goods & services even if you cover the fees tells us that he's either: A. a shithole scammer Or B. what he's selling is crap/faulty, & he's trying to screw you over. Either way, he's not a valid member of the airsoft community, so he can do one. @Robben bye ?.......? Edit: lol, just checked out his ip, it was only Lagos/Nigeria, who'd have guessed that. Should have changed his username to Robben B'stard ?

Not going to add any sort of post requirement before accessing the classifieds and probably never will. Whilst this does leave users slightly more vulnerable to scammers the classifieds are the primary access point for new members (some of who eventually become frequent contributors to the remainder of the forum). I'll also add that the relative success of AFUK's classifieds is that it allows buyers to contact sellers far more easily than some similar platforms (which then translates into items selling more quickly). If a change was made to accessing the classifieds it would probably work for an extended period of time but there would be a drop-off in new listings on the classifieds in the medium to long term which would precipitate as less content overall on the forums. Facebook and Discord are not only popular because everybody is already on there (in many cases multiple times a day) but because you don't even have to think about doing any amount of legwork before contacting a potential buyer or seller. Closing the gap between forums and big services like this starts at having as little extra work for new users as is feasible. The above is also why care has to be taken before adding new sign up requirements in order to help prevent spamming (I'm sure everyone is familiar with just how much of this we get). There is currently a cap on how much 'content' you can post/create before you reach a certain account age - this is intended to be one of a number of small things that frustrate people spamming and scamming at scale but it is a bit of an arms race with no solution that doesn't come at the cost of significantly lower new registrations. Did consider a 'bond' at one point of a similarly small amount which would be refunded after a specific period of time but this comes with loads of real life liabilities. Also as above any non-refundable small contribution for buyers and sellers would probably be catastrophic for fresh sign ups I'm afraid. I am likely going to add a new notification to make this more prominent to new members. As it stands there are two notifications that you receive as a new member and it's likely that adding a third won't help. There is of course the floating permanent notification at the top of the classifieds with a warning and some very basic guidelines. Any concise recommendations to add to this list of tips would be greatly appreciated. I've asked for clarification on this but for now the forum does not notify of new classifieds on Discord as we're probably not allowed to even link to new listings under these new guidelines. Although it's not exactly foolproof prevention of anybody who does a little bit of research on this (thankfully most scammers seem to be pretty thick) we do screen IPs (for anti-spam purposes more than anything) in order to catch VPNs etc. (to the degree that it is feasible to do so). Agree wholeheartedly. This is the first recommendation in the list recommendations given at the top of the classifieds for a reason. Anybody looking to save a couple of quid on a transaction of hundreds of pounds with somebody they don't know is asking for trouble.

Very true, & regarding "buyer beware", I wonder how many buyers that get scammed, primarily on here as it's probably the busiest UK forum, are the types who just sign up for the classifieds access, without reading other threads, in particular the horror stories & warnings regarding scams & sending money ?. One might argue that those are the people that bring it on themselves, & are technically the "enablers" that the scammers rely upon ?.
