I almost always use guns with MEDs, be it bolt actions or DMRs. Therefore I have a lot of really nicely upgraded pistols, because I use them a lot. I also like having a light and a suppressor on them, light for function, suppressor for tacticool-ness. It has taken me this long to finally buy a good holster, but god damn do I like it and I should've done this a long time ago. It's a Deadly Customs DC5 universal light bearing and tracer holster with an m81 woodland cordura wrap, plus both a mid-ride mount and a molle mount with quick locking systems. All in, it was about £125, but worth every penny. I run real-steel Surefire x300s on my pistols and the retention is a lot better than on the Nuprol NX300 that lives on my HK45 (that I don't really use much); HK45 with the Nuprol light fell out when I turned it upside down and gave it a shake, but when I put the Surefire on it, it stayed locked in. Holster fits all of my pistols that I tend to use and none of them are falling out with the real Surefire x300 on them, apart from the mk23 which is just too large. 1911 is quite tight as well because the slide is high, but it does fit. So that's the Hi-Capa 5.1, AAP, 1911 and p226 that all fit, as well as the HK45. All with suppressors on as well, and the AAP also has an RMR. Glad I picked up an extra quick locking system and a molle mount, because it means I can just swap it over to a different kit, or mount it on a chest rig so I can use a GBB pistol on a chest rig as a cross-draw, and the mk23 on my DTD holster on my hip if I want both stealth and a bit of firepower. Such a good investment.2 points -
Spare part in AK hop unit
Colin Allen and one other reacted to Adolf Hamster for a topic
it seems mighy like it's intended as a spacer, i've often used them particularly on pistols. it's just a bit of stuff to pack underneath the nub to get a little extra lift when there's not enough regular hop travel to spin the bb's i want to use. commonly a cut up square from the skirt of an aeg rubber is a good option but i can see heatshrink doing the same job. you probably won't be needing it when you change to the omega nub.2 points -

Spare part in AK hop unit
DanBow reacted to The_Lord_Poncho for a topic
That's a weird 'part' - almost looks like a cut off section of an old bucking? Has it got the usual ridge inside of it? Irrespective, I wonder if the guns previous owner (presuming you bought it second hand) used it to slip over the outside (front) of the bucking to increase air seal... Sometimes AK hops can also suffer with the hop lever migrating, so plausibly the owner also used it slipped over the adjustment lever to add friction and prevent that? Certainly my Cyma AK hops do not use anything looking like that.1 point -
For high caps buy Lonex Flash mags. Best high capacity M4 magazine out there, fits and feeds on most M4s even at 30+ RPS, pulling the cord makes more noise than winding the wheel but you only need to do it once, maybe twice, for the whole 360 rounds. Midcaps are okay if you don't use full auto (or can't due to site rules) but generally they end up being more expensive, especially when you look into quality mags and a proper Odin speedloader. I almost exclusively run the aforementioned Lonex high caps, have yet to hear the infamous battle rattle unless I'm vigorously shaking the gun or I'm tumbling down a hill like a sack of shit (thankfully the latter hasn't happened.....yet), also if I'm sprinting somewhere it means that stealth has already gone to hell and the tiny bit of extra noise isn't going to make things any worse. But I do understand the "realism" aspect of changing magazines more often. Also keep in mind that 200+ round midcaps require a REALLY good speedloader (genuine Odin, or one of those newer electric ones) and that once you get past the 150rnd mark you start experiencing heavy midcap syndrome.1 point

The 'How Did Your Airsoft Day Go? Thread
Colin Allen reacted to Mik3F for a topic
Last night myself and my youngest son visited First and Only Top Secret in Oldham, first time playing there A mix of players with some speed softers, who were quite clearly abusing the sites rate of fire rule, and I have the welts to prove it 🤣 The format for this site appears to be play 2 games back to back, a 5 min break and then you get a 20 min break roughly half way through the session We managed to play 7 games in the session and all were pretty enjoyable Teams were around 11v11, but the map can accomodate 40 players in total. Game 1 - Chaos. Standard Free for all with the catch, you don't want the item at the end as it means you lost. It gave us a chance to have a look at the setup of the floor and make sure the guns were working properly. Thnakfully I dodnt end up with the item at all and had great fun shooting multiple people Game 2 - KotH. The Hill was placed in the maze, so quite hard to get in and attack it once it was being held, we won this round quite easily in hte end as we managed to get the hill at the start and pretty much held it for the entire game Game 3 - TDM. Standard TDM affair, not much else to say really, not sure on who won the round though Game 4 - Attack the Bomb. We were tasked with attacking the bomb which was located in the prison. Despite multiple valiant attempts we never managed to get close enough to difuse it, Round Lost Game 5 - Defend the Bomb. This time we were defending the bomb, placed in the command centre. We managed to hold back the first charge on it, but then half the team decided to go roam the map and left us way too short gunned for the next attack on it, needless to say it got difussed, resulting in another round loss Game 6 - Dead Sceptre. This mode was a bit strange, Basically each time has to use the perimiter of the map to get bac to the central spawn point, but moving on opposite sides, this essentially resulted in firefights as both teams tried to move round. No one managed to get to the spwan so the round ended in stalemate Games 7 - Last Man Standing. Free for all to end the night and boy was I ready for it. I managed to take down 3 players before being eliminated. Overall an enjoyable nights and we will be returning again soon One thing I will say, is if you play there make sure to have enough ammo for 2 games back to back as if you have to step out to reload, you can miss a large chunk of the game1 point -
Best M4 gun to upgrade?

If reliability is your main concern then the best thing you can do is leave the internals alone. As others have posted use heavier bbs and set the hop up accordingly1 point -

Best M4 gun to upgrade?
Cannonfodder reacted to Galvatron for a topic
To play devil's advocate, what's to prevent you from condemning yourself to the same or even a worse fate when, using your own words, you've abused your gun? Prior to the problems you're experiencing, did you rule out your ammo being the issue and not the inner barrel? As Rogerborg said, you should aim to run the heaviest BBs your hop can lift. A heavier BB should be more accurate at distance on the same gun because it has more mass to be less affected by crosswinds. When I play outdoors, to paraphrase Linda Evangelista, my primary won't get out of its case for less than 0.28g. For skirmishing, I wouldn't personally recommend 0.2g on a primary.1 point -

Have spent £££’s with BoomArms , never an issue so I’d say just chalk it up as blip , annoying yes , but I’d perhaps of give them a little more time given their excellent track record with my own personal orders . also , I never order anything from HK I need urgently ( which is nothing because it’s just airsoft stuff ) and never expect an Amazon prime service 👍🏼 .1 point -

Best M4 gun to upgrade?
Cannonfodder reacted to Rogerborg for a topic
Hmm. Did you resolve the hop issues with your TM? I'm asking to try and determine whether (and how much) you really want to be tinkering. Most modern M4s are pretty decent, and rotary hops and well-featured fire control systems are becoming common. The only "upgrades" I'd suggest are a Maple Leaf hop rubber and nub, clean the barrel, and run the heaviest BBs that your budget and hop unit can stand - not 0.2g! Are there any must-haves for you that would help to narrow it down? Metal receiver, fire control system, rotary hop, quick-change spring? Are you sure you want to give up the NGRS blowback?1 point -

S&T Lee-Enfield has landed !
NiallT reacted to The_Lord_Poncho for a topic
Well, the S&T no.4 had it's first skirmish yesterday. I'd already swapped the barrel to a slightly shorter and better quality one than the stock brass coloured aluminium (!) barrel it comes with, popped in a silicon Maple Leaf Deception, and upgraded the spring with a heavily cut down L96 M150. Oh, and swapped out the loading plate with a filed to shape alloy L96 AWS plate to stop the original plate retaining c-clip pinging off every 10th shot. It was running at circa 1.3 joules after that, with a decent long range and impressive accuracy. I had an excellent game with it- the paltry six or so 'kills' I had with it each being incredibly satisfying. I would have given myself a high five after each one if that wouldn't have been just too weird (and my screaming biceps had any remaining energy to give). Many admiring comments from the sea of AR users!1 point
