L115A3 This is the ARES AW338 spring version. It's all pretty much standard at the moment, needs some work internally. Externally I managed to source the correct flash hider for this. The brand is calibre, and had to order from abroad. But never heard or seen them since. I know ARES did do one similar for their Stryker range, but the dimensions made it look fatter than it should. I was also led to believe the AW338 barrel is slightly thinner than that of the stryker, leaving their flash hider too loose a fit. I've added extra serial number stamps on the bolt and handle as is done on the real thing. Managed to source the correct Type scope mount, and a replica S&B scope. Then I've had a dovetail to picatinny scope mount 3D printed, correct to the real one. Now at this stage, it is just a prototype. And still working on the finer details. Other part 3D printed, is the L115A3 45° STIC NVG rail. This Is clipped into the front of the rifle as per the real thing. Both parts have been painted an aluminium colour. Then sprayed over with black. Worn back around the edges, giving the illusion it's metal. As I have based this off of L115s in Afghanistan. Most rifles seen were covered in tan SCAPA tape at the time, with some individuals adding some extra colour/camo to their rifles. Similar to those seen on the earlier issued L96 at the beginining of the OP herricks in afghan. Mine is a replication of that, covered in SCAPA, and the paint scheme similar to that of a family members. Also added ranging marks as also seen on sides of the rifles at the time.3 points -
LCT teasing a FAL
Colin Allen and one other reacted to DerDer for a topic
Got sick of waiting for King Arms to do their re-release. You're quite correct in how much of a nightmare they are to find. Hoping that the disassembly of the LCT isn't as much of a pig as the KA was. Also if the magazines could work reliably from the get-go, that would be swell. LCT can be a bit disappointing in that respect.2 points -

Hopefully, the FAL offering will include an L1A1. As for the East German AKs, from a purely selfish perspective, I would rather they did not; I like having a couple of AKs that are so different from 99%+ of those on airsoft sites.2 points -

How to chrono an APS CAM870
Scythian and one other reacted to Enid_Puceflange for a topic
I owned one for over a year Chrono was a pain in the proverbial One site I visited , it chrono’d at almost 900 fps, the marshal just laughed and let me use it. I never managed to get an accurate reading due to what you have already mentioned (caps, beebs then wad) coming out and screwing up the reading. There are so many different ways to load the shell as well, which will give you a different result. For example You could (if you were a cnut) ….. Prime the chamber with gas Co2, then use a cardboard wad, and use a few of these for the Chrono check. The wads shreds when the gas is released giving a lower muzzle velocity than if you primed with liquid Co2 and used plastic wads which don’t shred. Giving you a waaay higher muzzle velocity. A lot of sites are wise to this, and have banned their use. Its an awesomely realistic toy to field though2 points -

Nope, never. Trouble is, like AEGs, GBBRs are prone to people fiddling with them. Leave em alone till they go wrong. TM GBBRs are excellent straight out of the box.1 point -

The Perun ETU++ is a definite upgrade; however, before replacing stuff it might be wise to check the continuity of the cabling and, in particular, your soldering if you have a multimeter or can get access to one.1 point -

Hopefully they release one soonish and it's reasonably priced! Trying to find a King Arms OG style FAL is difficult.1 point

East German Aks would certainly be a nice extra too. The Bakelite stuff is getting harder to source. MP5 is logical given the HK33/53/G3 series they have already. As is the PKM, given the PKP. Hopefully the weight isn't too excessive. As regards the FAL, fantastic news. Hopefully they come out with a Para stock and some tacticool options too. They have an AK variant, which has a Galil style stock. Shouldn't be too difficult.1 point

If you can find a holster that can attach to molle (or are prepared to make it attach with paracord or cable ties or what-not) then I'd recommend a thigh panel as a compromise between belt and drop-leg. I find these ideal in both height and security for mounting, as you say, an SMG sized gat. Real-pretend world example (just add holster).1 point
-
Remember that the mk23 is the size of a small SMG, especially with the suppressor on. This makes it not ideal for mounting on a belt, drop leg holsters are a no go because you'll be burying the front end into the ground every time you take a knee unless you are very tall. So you're left with chest/armpit holsters and there aren't many options available that don't involve modification. Regarding the pistol, TM is the way to go, all you need to add is a tdc cover, tensioner and hop rubber of choice, that's it. Stock gun can somehow lift up to 0.28s but can't go heavier, which is where the pistol truly shines as a pocket sniper rifle. A TDC will get 0.48s going for very silly ranges and being a NBB, once you get past the horrible trigger, means you'll be consistently hitting people at ranges above what a 1.13J AEG can reach. Magazine wise, I found TM mags to be the overall best, but I've been told the new gen 3 Nov mags are also very good, so next time I'm shopping for gbb parts I may get a few of those and transfer the TM internals (routers, feed lips, follower and springs) into them.1 point

Border Force seized RIF
Francisfung1126 reacted to Tommikka for a topic
As it arrived yesterday, don’t worry about the worst case circumstances that you see on here There could be some more delay due to the season with lots coming in and things being slow The first thing is that it will stop and sit for someone to look ‘looking’ will mostly involve getting to that entry on the system and checking declarations When checking the first question is whether it’s legal to import (ignore that under the VCRA it’s illegal to import RIFs, but defences exist allowing import - so for theses purposes we’ll just say RIFs are legal to import They may consider joule limits - that it is a UK legal airsoft RIF Next - are there controls on its import - yes there are. Your UKARA details will pass that - either on the face of it or with checking your details match Declarations may suffice from the retailer, but you are the importer so you will probably get a declaration form to complete (Respond with yes it’s a RIF, yes I have a defence - here it is, and if applicable yes it is within joules etc) Once happy with the item being suitable for import it is considered for charges The retailers customs declaration may be used for values or they may reassess value (my recalculated charges reflected the declared value so I don’t know the reasoning for the change - perhaps error correction, perhaps currency conversion) You get sent a bill (perhaps the same time as the RIF declaration) These may be by post, email or you may be able to identify them in the tracking and phone (the declaration has to be filled in so try phoning to check if they have details to email it) Payment may be doable on the phone - I was not able to pay mine on the phone, they wanted me to pay via a card sent to me, but in fact I went in person to the regional depot before the card got to me Once any declarations and payments are cleared it is fully released - either for delivery or you can collect if at a convenient depot (don’t pay online or by phone if you intend to collect as they will dispatch it)1 point -
Clearance takes as long as it takes I had a belt & mag pouches take two weeks to clear customs - one week to assess charges the first time, but not release it and another week to reassess customs charges (if I recall correctly the final amount was slightly less than the first price I had been quoted on the phone)1 point

If the way you mostly enjoy the game is going for the objectives and trying to win, then a gun with comparatively tiny mag capacity and a more significant logistical train won't help. But if you just enjoy being out and pew pewing at folks and everything else be damned, then the more realistic gun will add a lot to that (though maybe not so much in the winter..) Looking at your specific personal situation, I don't think 1 AEG and 1 GBBR is necessarily the best move. To me, that's a lot of extra shizzle to cart along to every game with mags and power sources not being compatible between your 2 guns. Some people will find that totally worth it of course. The pendulum has massively swung on the whole GBB rifle thing of course and right now it's all the way on the gas side, but I think 2 decent AEGs makes the most sense for playing this game, a base line as it were. Especially if said 2 RIFs can share mags, batteries and BBs.1 point -
Lambda/DCA GPMG
Anonymoose reacted to Darkmikey22 for a topic
It will be slightly proprietary, as its an internal magazine. Similar to the vfc m249, but with the choice to buy a jungle tin if you want an actual box mag. I just hope they get it right. As I have been involved in this from day one. Infact it's my GPMG that has been used for all the measurements and all my info I've gathered over the years for them to get it right. Yes there maybe teething problems to start. As theyre hoping to have the prototype finished soon, and a working video of it shooting in next few weeks. (And no, I'm not affiliated with Dave. But I was sort out to help by both him and lambda with this, as I built my own gpmg from scratch. Hence I know what's gone into this project.)1 point -

I've never been a big fan of CYMA. Always found them a bit meh. I picked this up recently and it's actually a bit good. It's a CYMA Noveske Infidel for those that are interested. Comes with a eshooter mosfet as standard. I even like the midcap as it holds 190. Only thing done to it was swap out the stock for a Magpul slim profile one and replace the hop rubber with the 4Uantum friction Pro as I'm finding them very good.1 point -
I've had both the clones and TM, and tbh. I'd never go back to a clone nowadays. The trigger isn't as good, the mags are finicky, and the feed lips are more fragile - they don't load as smoothly. Plus, I've always had issues with performance of the clones after a while, where the power drops, and often doesn't feed. Contrast that with the Marui versions that I've had for several years, and had no issues.1 point

The cheapest CYMA M5xx range has toytown plastic: they're good candidates for throwing in the bag as a backup or loaner, but I wouldn't spend money on them, unless it's to learn teching. £200 gets you into the Double Eagle M9xx range. Plastic too, but nicer than the CYMA, and with a rotary hop, quick change spring, and a decent fire control system. https://www.patrolbase.co.uk/airsoft-m4-ar15-m16-variant-assault-rifles?*brand=61 That said, even the cheapest Specna Arms FLEX units have all those features now as well. That's quite remarkable value for money, although they're less of a known quantity than the Double Eagles. https://www.patrolbase.co.uk/airsoft-m4-ar15-m16-variant-assault-rifles?*brand=302 If you want a metal body, you're probably looking at the Specna EDGE range, but then you're paying more for fewer features, and a metal body that doesn't feel (or work) any better than a decent plastic.1 point
