Where did your forum name originate?

Mine came for the game show banzai (If anyone remembers it) on channel 4, Pat Sharp would compete against a genuine German in different challenges. Being the only German made it inevitable that I became Genuine German.4 points -

Mine originates from when i was young, dumb, and edgy enough to think it was a funny name. However it's surprisingly rarely taken so i kept using it and at this point it's just the name i use online. Kind of ironic that i'm simaltaneously using a pseudonym to remain anonymous online whilst keeping that name constant which aids recognition.3 points -

Egon_247 and 2 others reacted to RostokMcSpoons for a topic
Being one of them 'earlier adopter' types, I was early in on interwebz back when being 'Roscoe' was enough to stand out on a chat list. When all the 'Johnny-come-latelies' started filling things up, I changed to Atomic Rooster as my online nom de guerre. Turns out I'd subliminally picked that up from the name of a Prog Rock band (my genre of choice, and yet I don't think I've ever heard any of their music). Still, other Atomic Roosters appeared occasionally, so had to go to something else... I think I've got the lightest touch of Tourette's syndrome, and used to say "Spooooons" a lot (pre Wetherspoons!), which highly amused my boss at the time, and so Rostok McSpoons became my new forum / gamer tag. Been using it for many. many years. I saw that old boss in a pub meet-up for the first time in about 20 years recently. As soon we saw each other.... "Spooooooons!"3 points -

Not much to say, I used to play an old game called Virtual On. Played it once when I was at a bowling alley and got hooked. Apharmd was one of the cooler mechs. Armed with a plasma SPAS-12 and lightsaber tonfas.3 points -

Lol, we'll done, I've often thought about starting a similar thread when I've seen some fairly obscure usernames. Mine came from being a young squaddie in the early eighties, my surname is Dewberry, & was a big lad from a young age (6ft at 11), bigger than the recruits around me, & would get lumbered with the biggest gun, gimpy or bren usually. Around the same time police academy came out at the cinema, next thing I know one of the DS made the comparison between me & the films character Tackleberry, big guy with the biggest gun, & they stopped calling me Dewberry, Tackleberry was born?3 points -

Tenuous link time.... Egon from Ghostbusters was kinda my hero and with my surname being rowley, I figured it was close enough to egon ronay (foodie type) to use it. I likes me food, me. ??2 points -
Back when I was a wee lad, I picked up the nickname Kipper because of the cartoon dog. I don't remember how it came about but I've used it on forums for ages (inc Arnies circa 2004 ?). I stuck the LM on the front because Kipper was taken; LM standing for LordMoose, which makes up part of the randomly generated eBay name I plumped for also about 20 years ago.2 points

Brilliant day at Imperium - perhaps my bestestest airsoft day ever. It was one of their 'Cartel' games, with three factions (police, taskforce & cartel) all vying to prevent/control/run a drugs smuggling operation. The roleplaying element with specific RoE for each faction made the day feel really different from your typical skirmish without the eight hours lying in a trench of a milsim. A real highlight for me was leading a four man patrol that snuck into the cartel CP and pinched all the gear while they were out attacking another objective. By far the best bit of the day though, was that I think it's the first time I've gone the whole day without hearing any cheat calling. No one was accused of not taking hits. No one was accused of being hot. No dodgy medics, no hiding from 'nades behind bushes, no dead men talking. Just a really well played and well marshalled day.2 points

Current profile name was a gamer tag I used in Battlefield, my last profile I used my name gavinkempsell but managed to lock myself out of my profile & set this one up a few weeks ago. my CB handle in the 80's was miscellaneousman (god knows why) previous gamer tags were Manb@@bs, Manb@@bs3, Manboobs. I refuse to say why. ?2 points -

Gah, this is turning into an epic. I've gotta reorganize the entire garage to get the CBR in and I appear to have accumulated more crap than a crap magnet! I've spent all day sorting it out and on my second run to the dump! Like my airsoft stuff, I have too much of it. ? Wife's not happy either but meh, she'll live.?2 points

Was playing a lot of Atlas Life and needed a funny bad guy name. Was inspired after watching Crank. In hindsight it was a headache as everyone in game that had seen the movie would just shout "fu*k you Chev Chelios" but it stuck as the same people I played stuff online with also played Airsoft.2 points -

I'll pm you.☹️1 point -
Without knowing what you're currently shooting at to set a baseline, nobody can say for certain if 50 degree bucking would be suitable. Are you saying you're using an M120 spring or that your Evo III has got to have such a spring?1 point

Measuring FPS/Joules
Sewdhull reacted to alanwestlake for a topic
If anyone wants a cheap way to measure fps/joules there is a piece of software here which is safe to use and free. https://github.com/alanwestlake222/BB-Fps-Calc Just click on the "Release" link on the middle right of the page. Available for Windows or Linux. Would compile if for Macs but I haven't got access to one. Many regards1 point -

Eeh, first game after summer break went well. Nothing interesting to say about performance, I've had the shits all week and I'm not in top shape, but I'm glad I managed to play and not turn into a puddle of feces. Gun/gear wise, finally tested the new pdw and yeah, I'm happy with it. Throws 0.32s over there at 27 RPS with a reasonable degree of efficiency, considering it's running a 3t short stroke and a M95 spring.1 point

VFC Glock 19X in Tan and a E&C Glock 19X in black. Both are Gen 5. Internally the E&C is a TM clone. The E&C build quality reminds me of a TM with a Guarder slide fitted. It's head and shoulders above anything from WE, Raven, etc. The other big bonus is that they are about £95.1 point -
what do you ride (motorbike)
Rogerborg reacted to Tactical Pith Helmet for a topic
Fucking useless/wonderful, ugly/classic, ultra-modern/dinobike... Fancied one myself until I saw what they reach now. I concur with Mr Borg, Gizza Go Mista! Love it TBH. I had a pal murdered riding one that exact colour. He was ex-Slaves and a workmate, a real loss. I drive/ride passed the spot he died at every Monday. If I bought one I'd have named it Fat Bob after said mate. Bloody silly how a machine prompts so many memories.0 points
