The 'How Did Your Airsoft Day Go? Thread
gavinkempsell and 2 others reacted to DanBow for a topic
Had another morning at Outpost Airsoft, just outside Chester, with @sofieb yesterday morning. We also took one of the barmen from my local pub too. He's only a young 'un, comparatively speaking, and played a couple of years ago so had his own kit. We had been tormenting him with tales of how much friendly fire he was going to have to endure but when it came to it, neither of us could do it. He's a nice lad and I didn't want him to spit in my beer! First game was a standard raise the flag. There were, in fact, 3 flags. Well, 3 spinning crosses with red and blue ends that had to be pointed upwards at the end of the game to win. The interesting part is that it was a timed game of 20 minutes with respawns for the first 15 minutes then hit and out for the last 5. On the whistle the barman just sprinted towards the middle to try to gain an advantage. I seem to remember laughing at him as he walked back to respawn before I had even hobbled to the first obstacle! I won't go into details but there was some good gameplay from both teams, good hit taking and lots of action. The part, of the impressive sized site, we played on was narrow (30m ish) but about 100m long with respawn at each end so not too far to walk back to, which I did a lot of! There is lots, and I mean lots, of cover, obstacles and structures to get around. All well laid out to not really give you a lot of cover. You've really got to your eyes and not focus on one point. It makes for good game play. The second scenario was called the Research Lab. As the whole site is a disused WW2 airfield/training site there are plenty of old buildings dotted around, one of which was the Lab. There was a flag in the middle of a compound built around it. The objective is to remove the flag and not allow the defending team to put it back. Again, well laid out area with some choke points and open areas. I even managed to run at the start of this game as we were the attacking team and all decided to just rush them. All in all it was another good day there. It was my second time there and Sofs and the barman first. We all enjoyed it and will probably get memberships there. One thing I do need to do before I next play is get my rifle sighted in. You can see the bb curving up at about 30-40m but my holo sight is nowhere near. I was trying to guide them to the target but it wasn't working. Definitely going to mess about with the hop as I've literally took it out of the box and started using it.3 points -

The SGR is definitely an outlier and not a good one to bring up to debate the general worthiness of TM as a brand I'd say. Like I don't think there's a lot of the original line of bog standard TM AEGs with plastic bodies from the early 00s (ish) still in use, but years ago I can remember meeting a few people who were claiming to have left them stock and fired obscene amounts of bbs through them with little to no parts breakage at all. Also with decent range and accuracy for the low power. I can't say personally I've ever seen someone online regretting buying any of the common NGRS, GBB pistols or rifles, leaving them stock and just using them roughly in line with the way they were designed. They're not perfect and there's a few products that are more complex and more prone to issues, but they're the exception and not the rule for sure.1 point

My bad. I've always associated the name with the horribad system. In any case it's an ancient name I haven't heard in literal years, back then they were "the poop" alongside Classic Army funny to see how well the whole thing turned out1 point

If anybody is after a new bolt carrier for a mws, Ehobbyasia has some guns modify complete bolts for around £70-75 posted to your door. Almost half the price compared to UK retailers. Also their GM PMAGS are £51-53 posted. URL for the mag doesn't quite work but u can find them pretty easily on the website. https://www.ehobbyasia.com/products/guns-modify-evo-high-speed-and-enhanced-complete-bolt-set-for-marui-m4-mws-gbb1 point -
TopTech isn't the name for the flappy horrible pneumatic blowback. It's just the range of guns that had an MP5 with it on. But yes, good riddance. Stupid idea.1 point

Following up on my PCC/PDW thread, the replacement gun arrived. Which I promptly emptied and transferred the KA PDW parts into. Now it looks something like this:1 point -
I do feel somewhat sorry for sellers who spend the kids' inheritance on building the gun that they want - which they then immediately decide that they don't want - but it's kinder to nip the fantasies in the bud.1 point

Sooo..... Tiny update as I hate threads that just die with no resolution... Went again to our site and had a great day. His mp5 was chrono'd at 0.7j on .28's. checked mine against theirs and was pretty much bob on. Cool. I used my G3 which was embarrassing and generally poo, but that's another story. Through the day he lost power and eventually used the back up DE badger. Yesterday I stripped it out and then realised that it was a "toptec" with the air cylinder blow back thing. So I swapped cylinders so no more blowback and on the SAME SPRING, chrono'd at 1.4j!!!! One point four. That's nuts. Also a tad illegal but I'm redoing the spring today. So remember kids: keep it simple. Blowback stuff on toptec is poo. Lol ?1 point

Not sold in a while, but previously had to use email or WhatsApp due to running out of picture/media upload space to provide any potential buyers with more pictures via message. WhatsApp allowed an easy way of sending a video of the RIF/kit.1 point

Some ways to load a pack Method 2: The one a lot of people actually use is take method one and ignore it. Stick the biggest thing in the bottom, ie your sleeping bag, then cram the rest on top. ? Seriously it’s a compromise of method 1. Take the core of heavy items close to the spine and higher up but modify it for expected use. This might be to have waterproofs at the top if rain is expected. Or your shelter by the bottom zip (if you have one) so you can quickly pitch it if you will arrive at your intended camp at dusk. Effectively you are packing b a task oriented way. A “bug out bag” might have everything a hiking pack contains but the way you plan to you it differs. Personally I have less kit in the summer, maybe only 30-40L bag so it’s not especially heavy so it’s easier to have what I want to hand. That said this is the same Bergen with side pockets added for a longer trip. LHS is shelter and next meal plus canteen on top. RHS is set up as a day sack and quick zip off. Lid has first aid plus snacks. Top down inside pack: Large water bladder Waterproof jacket Sleeping bag Food Kip mat Wash kit Extra Clothing* * might get bumped up in cold weather. Order of packing has been changed to make it easier to pitch camp in poor weather without having to dig in the main bag. Next up is water. Carrying it, finding it, making it drinkable.1 point
