Red Alert Battlesim lite, 28th July 2024
Lozart and 2 others reacted to Skullchewer for a topic
Another of our increasingly popular Battlesim "LITE" days is coming up, on the 28th of July. Looking to get in to sim days but don't know where to start? Wanted to try a sim day, but put off by the camo restrictions? Enjoy sims but find them a bit intense sometimes? A Battlesim Lite is just what you need! Usual skirmish rules apply with the following changes: The day will consist of morning and afternoon gaming, with a break for lunch. There will be fixed point and rolling objectives given by your team commander. Three teams will be designated with tape/armbands, there will be no camo restrictions like there are on full Battlesim days. There will be no weapon restrictions or ammo limits, as there are at full Battlesim days, however guns must use the magazines designed for them, for example: no mag adapters or drum mags except on LMG's. Days Schedule: 8:30am - Gates Open 9:00am - Check In & Chrono from 9.00am 10:00am - Daily Brief and Start of Morning Game 1:00pm - Lunch (included) 1:45pm - Afternoon Game Starts 4:30pm - End of Afternoon Game, Return to Safe zone for debrief. More details about the themes and missions of the day will be released on social media over the next few weeks. ยฃ30 for the day, with lunch included. So come get your sim on! Book in advance here: https://redalertpaintball.co.uk/booking/airsoft-battlesim-lite/3 points -

Hi bud and welcome.๐ Climb aboard the good ship afuk and enjoy the delights therein. Mesh type eye pro is ok ish but I have found that they cut out a certain amount of light and there is the problem of the odd BB hitting them and shattering and pieces going through the mesh. That wouldn't be so much of a prob for you as you have your glasses for secondary protection. Fogging up is a problem for many of us but there are various anti fog products which help but don't stop it completely. There are goggles with electric fans built in which blow cooler air over the inside of the goggles which does help a lot but they can be bulkier and more expensive. Some of they guys on here have talked about prescription eyepro which helps a lot because you are only wearing one set of eye protection. Am sure someone will guide you on that option. Whatever you get make sure it is up to spec for Airsoft. Enjoy your first game and remember to call ya hits๐ Regards3 points -

I'll be on gate duty in the morning, so you can't miss me. Say hi. Lite days are fun. They give you more focus for the day, rather than a quick 30 minute ctf or the like, but they're not as intense as a full Battlesim. They add more depth to the gameplay. Pace yourself, bring a bag you can leave at your team HQ with snacks, water, ammo etc.2 points -

As a long term player, whoโs always worn glasses, the best bang for buck goggles that will fit over normal sized glasses are Bolle Pilots. They vent pretty well and donโt interfere with getting a cheek weld / looking down the gun sights. Hi quality mesh goggs from Heroshark really are the best, but as others have said they do reduce light transmission so are best used outdoors IMO. Ultimately try and keep yourself cool and keep moving. Fan assisted goggs are the best but noisyish and expensive. Or go contacts, itโs one less surface to fog up.2 points -

Welcome to the madness. There's different types of eye protection available and unfortunately it's one of those things where which type is "best" is down to personal preference. Personally I don't like mesh as not only does it cut down the amount of light getting to your eyes, but I found when looking down optics I would sometimes get a reflection in the glass of the sight messing up the sight picture even more. Another issue I've seen with mesh masks is that some of the cheaper masks are simply not safe with the mesh popping out of the mask after a few hits or even the mesh itself bending or breaking. To me it's not worth risking my eye sight for the sake of saving a few quid I use glasses treated with cat-crap (this stuff, so leave Tiddles' litter box alone https://www.amazon.co.uk/EK-Crap-Anti-fog-Treatment-Paste/dp/B003RLJ6UE/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?crid=27A9YTWQA2TIK&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.bkx18YS-RG2MFcFDW6VKLe7UKLigP3-_gYO2Wgi-nB01sNlHUx2D9jgLKhrCsa-_oyRZs5_JbFMcaficu1-cT3q733OPEmqCcHAwCnSYCO4ZiUoLgRCEW_TVVp5rMuw5h5t-ezvaUID-JV4AvQ8WxXS3KjJCM0m6kx2e9MeXFFE.HmuqbAM-cSGylDSPrh4k2cte7FC_8QSt3BlsTYLMduE&dib_tag=se&keywords=cat+crap+anti+fog&qid=1719597381&sprefix=cat+crap%2Caps%2C556&sr=8-1 ). While it may look a bit on the expensive side compared to other anti fog treatments you only need to use a small amount and a tub will literally last years. Whatever you go for just make sure they're of the correct safety rating EN166 B. This is a good write up of the different types of eye protection for airsoft https://safetyprotectionglasses.com/2020/08/safety-glasses-for-airsoft/2 points -
Ahoy and welcome. Airsoft is a blast, just pace yourself and keep hydrated. Fogging is a sod of an issue for a lot of us, and the number 2 rule (after don't be a dick) is to never, ever remove your eyepro in the game zone, even to clean it. It looks like TM rent out paintball style sealed masks rather than mesh, which will make it more likely that your glasses will steam up. I've tried various potions and lotions for anti-fogging, with the most successful (and expensive) being Revision anti-fog wipes, followed by Cat-Crap (yes, really) paste. Ventilation is the real solution, and if you stick with sealed goggles, Ex-Fog fans (and knock-offs) are available, or you can DIY something with a computer/3d printer cooler fan and some ducting. I run goggles in CQB for the light transmission and lack of spalling, but for outdoors, I've switched to mesh. The gold standard is @heroshark who does made-to-order and custom goggles, which means you'll need to wait quite a bit as he's always got more demand than time. Jumping off point for that is https://www.facebook.com/Heroshark/ However, more basic mesh goggles or masks work too, and your glasses will deal with the fragment problem. While I've got no love for the brand, I do think the mesh on these Nuprol goggles looks solid enough for airsoft, and they're hopefully big enough to cover your regular glasses. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Nuprol-Pro-Mesh-Eye-Protection/dp/B0797R9TJ4 You'll likely want to remove the foam on those, or anything else you get, to increase airflow.2 points

Choosing a bucking for a stock Specna Arms SA-E12 hop-up unit

380mm is still in the sensible range, it'll be fine. If it's not and you do end up wanting to shorten it a little, barrels are easy enough to cut with a cheap sub-ยฃ10 pipe cutter, and a pipe deburrer, or whatever else you have to hand.1 point -

Lightly_Salted reacted to Rogerborg for a topic
The thing about airsoft barrels is that ~200mm is enough to comfortably reach typical 1.14-1.2J UK site limits (and you can get there with less). There's no real benefit to going longer for <1.2J, as the BB won't remember anything about its time inside the barrel once it's out. You might even find yourself losing power and consistency as you go longer, depending on your cylinder porting and air seal. https://www.ak2m4.co.uk/internal-parts/inner-barrels/xt-inner-barrel-aeg-601mm in 300mm would give you enough extra to support the suppressor, with some baffling space left. Airsoft is the art of the possible, there's no perfect configuration.1 point -

Appreciate the writeup! Unfortunately my suppressor is quite a hefty one, sitting at roughly 170mm (compensating for the short barrel, least it was the plan when I brought the gun!). I'd like to make as much use of it as possible, but it seems most barrels between 340mm-370mm are out of stock seemingly everywhere. Bit surprising, given they're just milled metal tubes, but I can't really comment! I'll definitely look at the bucking + nub you linked though, I think that'll work best. I can't say what spring Patrolbase stuffed in the gun to get it to the required "350fps with 0.2s", so I plan to get one that I believe is slightly higher power, and one that is slightly lower. They're not terribly expensive, unlike some of the PDI barrels I've seen! How much?!1 point -

Hi fella Welcome to the Airsoft asylum. If you were sane on entering, you won't be when you leave and your wallet will be considerably lighter! Enjoy your new sport ๐ Regards1 point -
Ahoy and welcome. Barrel and bucking is a perfectly sensible place to start tinkering. The issue with BBs clipping your suppressor may just be down to shooter's-droop, with the suppressor slightly misaligned. I've certainly had that on an MP5K where the front end isn't very secure. Once you have a longer inner barrel in there, you can pack it out with rubber rings, tape, stiff foam, whatever you like, to help support the suppressor and keep everything aligned. Huh, I'm seeing both 190mm and 210mm listed for the SA-12. Either way, it's the extra length of the suppressor, and how far down you want it to go, that really matters. AK2M4 would get a hearty recommendation, but inner barrels are a bit thin on the ground at the moment: https://www.ak2m4.co.uk/internal-parts/inner-barrels The XT 6.02mm is decent enough. Going too tight can lead to issues, I'm getting a few wild fliers out of an XT 6.00mm barrel, even with the end opened up with a deburring tool. Sight unseen, a 260mm or 285mm is probably what you want, pending measuring. Bucking and nubs, my default is Maple Leaf and omega-style nubs. Religious wars have been fought over the exact model and hardness, but you won't go far wrong with a 60 degree Macarona and an omega: https://www.ak2m4.co.uk/internal-parts/hop-up-buckings-nubs/maple-leaf-macaron-60-nub Macarons works and feed fine with every M4 hop and nozzle that I've used them with, and specifically the Specna Arms blue rotary hop, which is a decent enough unit. If you do come out a bit over power, the spring change on the Specnas is easy enough, and you can cut off a coil, or just heat and squish the end coil, to cool it down a little.1 point

New pew today ๐. Since using my lad's SSE18, I've wanted one for my ghillie rig, but I've decided to dual-purpose it for my cyberpunk CQB setup. The massive holo is a placeholder until my low-profile (red) red dot arrives, but I'm starting to get attached to it, whilst tactically sweeping my house over and over. The amplifier was primarily cosmetic but it definitely makes the pistol sound less anaemic. Also missing is a red flared mag well, as it was out of stock. She's ugly, but that's kind of the point. ๐ Once it's complete, the real project begins: Integral torch, using the foregrip cavity, and LED lighting in the rear carbine cavity... all for the cyberiness. ๐1 point -
