So I'm making my own grenades...
EDcase and 4 others reacted to Jez_Armstrong for a topic
If anyone has followed my previous posts on other social media you'd see I made a distraction greande this week which is basically a personal alarm inside a 3d printed shell I designed, it's cheap and cheerful, won't break the bank and it bounces (Printed in PLA which glows in the dark and TPU for a more friendlier rubber effect) , I thought it was a great idea and I'm going to test them out this weekend, the only concerns were the DB levels (which I've now got down to 87db from 114db) and that it would be continuous untill its turned off but nevertheless it should make for a good distraction once thrown into a room on a normal skirmish day and people wonder WTF that thing was that just went off and as they look around you breach the room and attack 🤷♂️ (see video below) So this got me thinking about making another grenade, my Mk2 version which I've not seen in the market before This one will have a rechargeable battery via USB, an on/off switch and an armed button, you'll have a speaker and the ability to record your own sounds on it for 10 seconds, so you could have 5 seconds of silence once you press the button (primer/fuse) and then 5 seconds of multi bangs sounds, or you can record a voice that says something stupid like "they are coming from behind us" which might make some stupid people turn around Or you can have something silly like this 😂 But it's something I'm currently developing, I only had the idea on Sunday and by Wednesday (today) I have a working mk1 prototype and the Mk2 version should be ready by the weekend, at the moment it's a little quiet at 0.5w but I'm adding an inline amplifier this evening which should bump that up to 3w and also designing a grenade housing for it to all fit into Any feedback so far will be greatly appreciated5 points -

Well that was the thought, you could record your own bang sounds so it would be the same as a reusable grenade https://youtu.be/r6hypVbcivk4 points -

They've had 8 years to make theirs, I think their customers would be happy to have one of my mk1's than carry on waiting 😂2 points -
Will you be bringing these to market before or after the Molyneux MAS-G?2 points

Since when are second hand, mildy scuffed up, Combat Machines worth £220? (short answer - they're not, and I wouldn't pay that for a brand new one either) Doesn't even have a Perun ETU++.2 points -
Internal tracer mod for the AEGIS AFG-9
Rogerborg reacted to MistakenMexican for a topic
A little while ago, I got an AFG-9. The AEGIS TM spec one. I thought “wouldn’t it be cool if you could fit a tracer in that internal dead space”… Long story short (and several dead tracers later), I have a working prototype. it’s a removable unit that fits in the space between the charging handle and the front of the kit. It’s been challenge as there’s not a lot of space between the front of the kit and front of the charging handle slide racker. I plan to sell these as a complete drop in kit for those who have an AEGIS AFG-9 in the U.K. However I still have refine the design and see which tracers can be modified to fit internally. I’m also working on a thread adapter that doubles as an inner barrel stabiliser, as you can run a 160mm TBB right up to the end of the FMG-9 kit. I’ll probably end up sharing the CAD files online for those who don’t live in the U.K. or don’t want to pay for a complete kit.1 point -

Not every site allows pyrotechnics, either insurance issues or the public in reasonably close proximity, so a non explosive relatively low volume grenade maybe just the answer those sites are looking for in order to inject a further element of realism in to their games. And if it says "BOOM MOTHERFUCKER" after 5 seconds, even better🤣1 point -
I can already imagine some of the audio being used 😂1 point

Yeah the mk1 does seem to be annoying but it's where I started the idea Yes you can record your own audio up to 10 seconds1 point -

Yeah the first one is just annoying, but the Mk2 definitely has the potential to be considered a timed "grenade" of sorts, especially useful for those urban sites that can't have any form of pyro ?1 point

Internal tracer mod for the AEGIS AFG-9
Rogerborg reacted to MistakenMexican for a topic
So right now it’s a Lighter S, but for a similar reason, it failed on me, so it’s not costing my anything to cut and grind it down to fit. I’m able to run power through it to check I’m not shorting or disconnecting anything… but functionally it’s U/S. Acetech have also informed me that the Lighter S and the Lighter C are discontinued so my next Acetech option would be the lighter R. I’ve been recommended to look at the Xcortech or G&G equivalent. If either of them fit and are reliable, I’ll probably go with that. Got a second round of prototypes out of the printer. Will test them tonight. Ones a barrel extension stabiliser and thread adapter. The other is the tracer adapter with a protective front face.1 point -
Outside of mixing up the clothing accompanying it I've been pretty set with gear for a while. I ended up wearing way too many layers at the start of Saturday having expected it to be a lot colder than it ended up being. Toying with having a tubes conversion made up for the FCPC, not entirely settled on if it'll be worth it.1 point

I’m working on a barrel extension/ stabiliser kit for the FMG9. It should have printed today, so I’ll be collecting it tomorrow 😊1 point -
Definitely one of my all-time best airsoft buys. They repay themselves so quickly. Just got one for my lad as well, but his didn't come with the silicon sound dampener.1 point

Picked up a CA53 from @VonGrimm and he was very honest in his description. After a bit of work she's looking a bit better. Just need to sort out the gearbox issue once the part arrives and I might replace the CA Mosfet with a NanoAAB I've got here sitting doing nothing. Before: After: Based on a HK53A2 I fondled in Iraq belonging to the RMP CP teams. I also took a bit of time and gave the XM177 PTW a bit of a service.1 point -

long time project AEG. CYMA 0.28 Type 3 AK47. This is the recoil model similar to the TM NGRS AK's. externally it has some Inokatsu laminated furniture worn naturally and the magazine is a RS slab slided early AK mag modified for a midcap internals. Internally it is running a Leviathion V3 and ZCI 400mm inner barrel and Maple Leaf Mr Hop (50).1 point -
