My take is while the conflict is raging 24/7 all over our screens it’s simply bad taste to wear Russian kit at the moment . I’ve got a fair bit of it my self but I’m just not going to wear it for the foreseeable future for this reason , I’m not going to burn it or say “I’m NEVER wearing it again in solidarity with the Ukraine !” or any of that kind of fake supportive bullshit , I’m just putting it away and when it all settles down again I’ll reassess how I feel and if I’m happy to wear it again ? I will . If anyone does carry on wearing it now I’m not going have a go at them(just don’t wear Russian military patches that would be a step too far) but equally I won’t deny they will go down in my estimation as morally I think it’s wrong but everyone has a different personal standard of what’s right or wrong so say’la’vie .

Anyway 90% of airsofting kit is Chinese no matter what it’s trying to look like. 😘

Maybe Airsoft Cardiff could host a charity dictators of the world game.

Brother number one and the Khmer Rouge vs President for life and the State Research Bureau.

That way you can play in pyjamas or floral blouse and flares. Absolutely no possibility of causing upset…….

Do you think Pol Pot is a source of comedy?

Oh what the actual fuck? People did that? I'm surprised they didn't just get kicked straight off the field. His response seems pretty measured though and I'm glad they didn't go so far as to outright ban Russian kit because that's a slippery slope. Then you have the question of what Russian style kit is and isn't ok and if you draw a line people are going to want to find out exactly where it is.

Sadly, I'm not, at all. I'd hope they were, but I doubt it.  And I'd expect half of them to be back on the next game day, pretending ignorance, saying "No patch, no problem", or just not giving a toss.  I'd like to be wrong about that, but the players who aren't a problem don't need told how to behave, and the players who are don't listen or care - that's why they're a problem.  It's not the patches, it's the players.

Airsoft sites don't need so many rules, and they don't need so much being said.  Actually punt the dickish 5-10% off site, on the day, and all the problems are gone.

I say this in the full knowledge that it's far easier said than done, and it's something I've got no interest in putting into action. But that doesn't make it any less true.

Whilst majorly attempting to avoid specifics, as discussed with a site owner once ……

They had a booking from a particular group of stereotypes, and dreaded the level of management & marshalling needed whilst considering excuses to reject the booking without ramifications

But on the day it was one of the best groups they have had - purely a group of people who wanted to enjoy a day out shooting each other along with fat wallets

This is my point. What matters is what happens on site, on the day.

Both in terms of what players do, and what marshals and site owners do in immediate response.

I'm sticking with my view that time served, good-at-the-job door security make the best site staff.  It's much the same skillset: being friendly and welcoming while spotting potential problems, sounding them out and heading them off early, and ultimately being prepared to say "End of discussion, leave now" and mean it.

Back your local bouncers.

Russia hasn't been considered Communist, nor has it been run by Communists since the fall of the union. It has been passed off as a weak Parliamentary Democracy by but is actually controlled by an Authoritarian Conservative Capitalist Dictatorship.

I am unsure why on earth people still think Russia is run by a Communist. The SU was certainly Communistic Totalitarianism at it's core.

Like many political stances and parties with "Labels" such as Conservative, Democratic, Socialist, Communist, Capitalist. Their actions generally have very little to do with their label beyond lip service.

True, the label 'Communist' has been replaced but Putin clearly wants to bring back its ideological 'glory days'.

Anyway, I don't think this is a good subject for an airsoft forum so I'll drop it.

Putin wants to be the ultimate dictator and be as expansionist as the previous regime. But nothing about him is Communist. So again, I am not sure why you would say Russia is Communist. Were you wrong in that statement?

You did bring up the politics in this Airsoft forum.

I'd rather shag a bag of nettles than to read the political tripe above (if you want to talk politics regards the Russian /Ukraine conflict, then make a thread in the "off topic" section). so back to the original topic...

Russian kit yay or nay?

I say sure. Why not.

It's not like people are barred from wearing the uniform of enemy forces is it? How many taliban/German /Vietnamese dressed players have you seen? I've seen lots.

It's not like the uniform someone wears means that they support the country or military behind it.

Wear what you want. Have fun.

Airsoft is a simple game to play unless you're a jumped up walt/nobber/General bellend. Don't spoil it.

I think he wants to bring back the Communist regime but I'll admit the name isn't significant.  He's an asshole and we'll leave it at that 😉

Personally, I don't particularly mind myself or others wearing Russian gear in games. How many modern armies are completely innocent? Is the US military doing good in various Middle Eastern countries? But fans of American gear are still the most numerous. The difference in my opinion is that the US is prepared with good sounding reasons and excuses.
