I was doing my daily GBBR rounds and have responded to your reddit post also, but same thing here:

This is the same rail that is on the MK18 NGRS and no, you cannot get a wrench around it. I got mine off by using flat head screwdriver in one of the square recesses and a mallet and start tapping down on it (anticlockwise/lefty loosey). It's aliminium and there's no thredlock, but it is tight and mine requried a few solid taps, enough so that it dented it.

The mind boggles 😳. I still can’t get my head around how TM came up with such a design.

Also is this the same way in which a NGRS rail also comes off?

  2. Go with the triple TDC... You can always just use the one screw... It's all trial and error at the end of the day and whatever floats your bb (see what I did there lol)

And yes, the list above is complete sensa the barrel of course....

p.s. I'm waiting till Friday to order some bits.... lol

No, because I'm not doing it for airseal. I'm doing it part of the way down the barrel where it exits the hop unit to make it fit snug. Otherwise it doesn't quite fit and rattles around and doesn't line up properly. This has only happened to me on Crazy Jets and has happened with both I have (both on the mk23 and VSR).

Have you tried shoving an 0 ring over the barrel to help centre it? Also which version of the CJ barrel do you have? There's a newer version according to Skirmshop which doesn't need a modification of the inner hop to accommodate the barrel...

I wish Crazy Jets were made of steel rather than brass.

That would probably double their price too! The flare design of the muzzle end of the CJ barrel is something which Systema have been doing with their PTWS for years... That's why PTW groupings are mental ;)

I totally agree, apart from the Crazy Jet (unpopular opinion, I know). Hadron TDC and H arm are fantastic purchases for a mk23, and for hop rubber you can also look at the Maple Leaf Autobots (the new, 2021 versions) or MR hop rubbers as well.

I dislike Crazy Jets as both of mine don't fit properly into the hop units as the outer diameter isn't large enough, meaning I would need to wrap PTFE tape around the outside to make it fit. This leads to the alignment being ever so wrong (literally < 1mm off) and so the BBs clip the suppressor. I imagine this would be amplified in a DMR kit. They're more expensive, but I'm a big fan of Edgi and PDI barrels. Nineball (Laylax) are also good if you're on a budget, but with pistol barrels the difference is usually tiny so I'd say just go big or go home. Stock TM barrels are pretty good.

I've always wondered why PTFE tape was needed for a Crazy Jet barrel as it's bonkers... I've never found an explanation for it until now....!

Also, having to apply teflon tape is just bollocks! You shouldn't have to do that! Imagine what Luke would say :D:D

So would a EDGI/Laylax/Nine ball barrel not need this doing to?

  5. The MK23 is very simple to upgrade. Internally you need just four components.

    1. Hadron Designs TDC

    2. Hadron H-Arm

    3. Bucking - 50 degrees flamingo bucking (yes it’s pink in colour)

    4. inner barrel. For those not wanting a DMR then a 150mm crazy jet barrel will do it.

For a DMR you will need a longer barrel.

There are so many videos on YT just go and have a look.

Oh This post should belong to the gas guns section of the forum.

Yes, I've removed the side screws and the rear screws on the mk18 rail. Normally it would just be able to slide off on my old Madbull 12.5 RIS II, but for the TM there's a barrel nut inside the rail, so my normal castle nut wrench can't fit in

Great Scott!!! So that’s TM’s take on a MK18 rail??? On the look of it that looks ridiculous. Why on earth would they design it in such a way that makes taking the barrel out difficult. There must be something which is missing here??? Surely they could not have been this dim too make it so awkward to change a hop rubber as an example? In a licensed MK18 rail that barrel nut locks the outer barrel in place making it free float but that does not seem to be the case here!!!! Really weird!!!

Have you asked anyone on the Marui Recoil/GBB/GBBR Facebook group?

  7. Hadron TDC - get the three screw one so you can fine tune the hop. Hadron H plate (that replaces your hop wheel and hop arm). Airsoft mechanic Flamingo 50 degree bucking. These are all the mods you need. Well for a TM mk23 that is.

    Then there’s the barrel....

I had that exact headset at first but I found that the rail mounts just would not stay on properly - and then I found the TMC RAC ones that can be slung behind the helmet when not in use:

I saw something similar where you can buy rotating rail mounts. I believe FMA do them or another 3rd party.... I'm actually considering getting a set via Aliexpress and see how they work..

In fact Earmor themselves sell the rotating bracket.......

Well my G&p buffer kit arrived today and it must be me but I've had a nightmare with it, I've two options: either no bolt lock as the buffer tube is wound nearly all the way in with two threads remaining or wound all the way out so it can move up and down and jam on the lower causing a gas out then giving me the final two finger salute by stopping me from lifting the upper from the lower by protruding too far forward and not catching on the spring buffer retaining (stop?) So I have to remove the buffer tube to get it out.

additionally the modify tan hop rubber with super G nub does not seem to be as good as the original tm one to me the best I can get is an 80 to 90 mm group at 20 m. I'm going back to the original hop rubber with super G nub.

    Winner winner chicken dinner!

    Suggestions, queries, comments? Or commiserations?

Do you mean this dildo shaped object is giving you a mare? I read somewhere to swap out the silicon knob end with a harder plastic end. I'm not if the Marui buffer end piece will fit into it though?

Thanks dude, love this gun and can’t wait to skirmish with it after lockdown😆 I’ve gone through a few mags in the garden and it feels great. I’m fairly new to airsoft and It’s my first gun, I’ve only ever used high cap rentals of which you have to keep winding on the mag after a few shots. Everyone on site kept asking what gun I’m going to get first, I would tell them the MWS, and everyone was like “no,no,no,no, you should get a cheap AEG!” then I would look online and watch videos about the MWS and everyone’s raving about this platform, I’m so glad I was not influenced by the people at my local skirmish site. 😂 My heart was set on the MWS and I’ve been using a cheap AEG for the last 3 months 😂

Welcome to the wolf-pack :D And show us a pic of yours......Be wary of BB's. Only use good quality ones at that like G&G, Geoffs, BLS, Longbow.... I had a bad bad experience with Nuprol RZR! It's a great platform to play with and gives a smile each time you pull the trigger... there is a lot of knowledge on this forum and we are here to help as and when we can.... :)

This is mine with a CTR on...

Will a “Magpul CTR mil-spec stock” fit onto the Tokyo Maruii stock tube?

Yup. But it will be a tad loose due to the variation in dimensions. I live with my wobble 😂

Took apart and cleaned the trigger box last night for the first time thanks to the eagle six videos. A bit nerve wracking but I got through it ok.  I'd advise having a half dozen containers or a parts organiser for anyone trying it for the first time as it's easy to get springs mixed up and the trigger itself has two similar but different coil springs in it.

Hardest part by far was removal of the box from the lower which took all manner of gentle levering and tapping with a drift and rubber mallet.

All parts were soaked in rubbing alcohol, scrubbed with an old toothbrush, dried, lubed with wurth advanced dry chain lube and assembled.

I cannot believe how well built these weapons actually are though, the thickness off the lower walls must be 3-4mm and I'd have no fear stripping and doing it all again now.

So well pleased with myself, that's the entire gun stripped to component parts, by me of all people!

Now I know who to send mine to if it ever needs stripping ;)

+1 for the Eagle 6 videos though..... those boys are pucker and hats off to them for all their past videos over the last 10 yrs or so....

I just tried reinstalling the green g&p valve again since I’ve got my own acetech chronograph now and am very bored. At a fairly middle setting as in the picture, I was getting 0.6J with a 0.25. I then tried setting it to the maximum possible setting and got a consistent 1.1J average over half a mag. I was using red gas.

If you’re looking to reduce the power of the gun then this valve seems to actually be very good, but at least for this 3.5 type, I am not able to get as much of an increase as I would have hoped over stock.

Interesting results. I wonder what affect a 4.0 or even a 4.5 valve would have with a stock length barrel?

  14. Bloody hell! I saw a YT video by Kicking Mustang using a HPA Version of this pistol. It was bonkers. He used it against non hit takers though 😂

This may well be my first non Marui RIF purchase. Whenever they come back into stock that is.....

You missed the bit where you add a stronger spring.

Also am i the only one who doesnt think the prommy purple is that good? I mean its not bad sure but some folk seem to think its the only hop rubber worth buying when frankly maple leaf isnt much more cash but is better.

You know what my answer will be regarding the purple prommy 😂

Different people different rubbers. That’s the beauty of our hobby and of course tinkering. I used a Maple Leaf in my MWS and didn’t like it and went back to stock Marui. Go figure.... Yet on my recoils I run purples in them without fail and damn they work for me. Still can’t hit anyone but hey ho 😂

Just a heads up for anybody after full size TM mags - Firesupport has had a batch in.  42 left as of this morning, but I have just bagged 3 of those...

I could also use some advice with upping the fps on my newly aquired mk18.  As a recent GBBR convert, I (possibly foolishly) hope to use my MWS as much as possible during the UK winter.  After testing 4 types of gas on Sunday, I was seeing unimpressive fps: around 300 on a .20 using Nuprol 4.0 at 9/10 degrees outside.  It's going to get much colder than this, and 300 fps is not going to cut it against AEG's at a 370 fps Stirling game.

I am really enjoying tinkering with the gun, but have so far just done the GG mod to the mags, which has helped somewhat.  The magazines do not seem to be the weak link, and the winter gases are doing the best they can.  I'm building up courage to have the front end off, but I need to be very careful as I plan to sell the furniture as a TM complete mk18 upgrade kit, as I have other plans for the base gun.

When I do get it apart, I have a 303mm 6.02 lapped barrel to try, and a nub and HSB from Dave on order.  In the meantime, I have borrowed a rocket valve from an old KWA MP9, and switched out the stock TM one.  After leaving mags in the fridge overnight, on Nuprol 3.0 on .20 bb's I chroned at 390 fps, then 380, 363, settling on 340 ish.

Impressive, but not skirmishable.  Angry Gun adjustable nozzle kits are out of stock everywhere, and when I asked a UK seller about MWS NPAS kits, he said that would not help, as it would not add fps that wasn't there to begin with?

I have put the stock valve back in, but wanted to know if I can modify it to push a little more gas?  Other than this, I think I will have to order something from Hong Kong, but what?

    rocket valve.jpg

Don’t use Nuprol bbs first point. Either G&G, BLS, Geoffs or Longbow.

Secondly be careful taking the from RIS off I’ve heard it’s a pain to do and some specific tool is needed. I’m not sure if it’s just the normal laylax wrench or what?  It will be interesting to find out.

Thirdly 390fps on 0.2 with Nuorol 3.0 wowzers.... mind you that’s not far off on me clocking in at 387fps on predator gas using a G&P bolt!!!

I have an Angry Gun adjustable nozzle valve too. I’ve been tinkering with it and it’s now at that sweet spot where it seems happy. I’m getting 340 FPS give or take. Got it from Fire Support when they had stock. Although I’ve gone back to stock Marui and put the gun away till March now. I’ll probably stick it in the classifieds when I get my finger out.
