Mapp is as dangerous as green gas, they are all highly inflammable. Black gas is just Nuprol’s trade mark, what it is chemically I don’t know but Red and Black most likely contain propylene. Mapp is just cheaper.

Ahhh gotcha.... do you need to use any additional  bits or additional kit to use the Mapp gas? I assume the Mapp bottle has a nozzle which fits into the MWS valves?

My MWS didn't come with a sling plate able to put a sling through. Just a blank one.

There’s one for sale in the parts section I do believe.

I was testing on 0.3g bbs. On Mapp FPS were over [email protected], Puff Dino was [email protected] and smart gas was giving [email protected]. Using NPAS is a must in such case. I used Rothenberger. When it’s below 10C imho it makes sense switching to Mapp but some small npas adjustments may be required (however on lighter bbs it may not be a problem).

I had to google Maap gas if I’m being honest. it’s all beginning to look a tad ‘inflammable like my bbq lol.  So why not just use black gas? Will that not work in colder temperatures?

Second outing with MWS today and after using red gas (nuprol 3) it was fantastic couldn't get enough.

Managed to get 2 full mags out of one gas (12c) which is what I'd expect, just looking for a good red dot now and should be perfect.

Oh and a rear sling plate.

Sounds promising..... although I may leave my MWS for the warmer months. Unless that is next Sunday we have a heat wave? What’s the chances of that? Hmmmm🤔

By the way, why do you need a rear sling plate. The MWS comes with one already yeah?

This is what you need to do.

Ahhhhh I see what you mean now. That’s kinda similar to the Angry Gun MPA nozzle I’m trying it. You can adjust the screw using an Allen key and it has a washer attached to the screw to limit the gas flow.

Today I made a DIY npas using stock floating valve and m3x8mm set screw. Works just like any other npas but I think 8mm is too long and eventually 5mm screw would be enough. I was able to get consistent FPS so I think it makes no sense in spending money on the commercial stuff. This is my second npas (first I made for the vfc mp5 gbb), it’s a simple job anyone can do.

Well that’s quite interesting. Do you have any pics of the components you used and also the final assembly?

Thats a lovely looking gun there, I'm right in thinking ill need an adapter ring to get the mk18 rail to fit?

Yes you will need a PTS adapter ring from Fire Support about a tenner.  The ring goes on the Marui barrel and the MK18 nut screws onto it.... simples

Oh hello......... <porn> Those are magpul sites,,,, I do like that... as a matter of fact I have Magpul PTS Masada lost in the loft somewhere I can nab the sites of that but they are black.. However me being me, I'll probably get a black magpul grip, I'm just too conservative when it comes to mixing colours on my rifle lol...

that does look nice with the MK18 rail on, I'm tempted to get a MK18 rail.

Do it... you know you want too 😂. It just makes the rifle look sexy! Although an all black rail would look nice too. I have a 9 inch DD lite rail which I could plonk on to see what it looks like too.

Holy cow, have you seen that?

Yeah this was shown earlier in the group... (scroll back a few hundred pages lol)... but seriously the concept is great but I hazard to guess you will need a custom G&P upper receiver as the title to this video suggests... Personally give me a HAO upper receiver and forgo this easy method of taking the HOP out..

Can't comment on the AA nozzle, but my TM one has a very good seal with plenty of resistance before it follows the BCG.

Read recommendations from people to thread lock the adjusting screw on the AA nozzle as it has a habit of firing it down the barrel! 😂

Funny you should mention thredlock,.. Fortunately the  nozzle I have has blue thread lock on it as standard... I've got it shooting at about 340 fps on Abbey gas at temperature 20c when tested this evening....

Anyway, my replacement Marui nozzle should be here in a couple of weeks along with other gubbins...

  10. So I took the angry gun nozzle apart gave it a clean as it’s wasn’t moving efficiently in bolt.  I lubed the rubber buffer with some silicon oil which KoA use for their pistons in their recoil gearboxes. Bloody hell what a difference that made. The nozzle moves effortlessly and you can even hear the air moving in the nozzle (well the suction type noise). The stock marui nozzle didn’t have the same affect. The stock marui nozzle just falls straight into the bolt whereas the Angry Gun has that suction resistance. Either the AA rubber buffer is a tad too big or the Marui one is a tad too worn. Dunno. Someone explain to me which is correct please?

On to chrono time. Fully gassed up mag on Abbey Predator gas at room temperature of 20c. Using some 0.2s first shot 371, then consistently 366 for the next few slowly going down to 358 on average. The AA valve will need more adjusting to decrease the gas flow.

Other than that she’s back to normal! Whoop! Happy days.

Oh, the marui hop has 15 click positions. I know coz I counted each click lol. Twice. Using a stock marui rubber and a brass nub the 0.3s which I subsequently used needed 7 clicks of hop for a stable flight. Don’t know if that info is useful for anyone?

  11. Another question... How does one attach a Mk18 rail or any rail as a matter of fact that has those attachment bolts on the collar nut... The bolts could potentially smack against the receiver causing damage. that's what happened to that chap that was selling his MWS on Prefired... Incidentally, I have a PTS barrel ring which fire support sell and I don't think that's appropriate to use? Or if it is how do you use it with the rails?

    https://www.fire-support.co.uk/product/pts-adapter-ring-for-marui-m4-mws-gbb

  12. So whilst waiting for my bits to arrive from the Far East, I decided to try an Angry Gun MPA nozzle. It’s the one where you can vary the FPS. I put it into the bolt carrier with the valve opened fully (vary it use an Allen key which is supplied), pumped up mag with Abbey Ultra and stuck in some Geoff’s 0.30’s and it chrono 330-350fps!!  This was on a full gassed up mag. Needless to say I was kinda surprised and the mag used its gas pretty fast. So, I adjusted the valve with a lot of trial and error and got it down to 280fps.

    Negatives:

    1. There is a twang each time time the bolt cycles forward. It’s coming from the spring. I hazard to guess that there is no tubing in the spring which is this causes the spring to resonate

    2. Bbs- It seems to be pushing a bb into the chamber perhaps a tad too far  and it rolls out of the barrel. I was testing on zero hop using a marui bucking and the SixG nub. I’ll set the hop for 0.3s and try again.

    3. The FPS consistency isn’t as good as I was expecting. There is way too much variation.  I think this may need to go back!

The version numbers are to do with Barrel length of your gun and not FPS. It's just a guide to make sure you are not buying something that will be over/underpowered for you barrel length.

It's a bit confusing as some websites have the extra info and a lot dont. If you go to G&P's main webiste:

    • ONLY For Marui M4A1 MWS GBB
    • Including 90° piston cup O-ring to prevent leak out the gas
    • Suggest using below 263mm inner barrel
    • 134A only

    http://www.gp-web.com/product/mws037a/

so If you are running a stock barrel you'd be looking for that one. I have a 370mm Barrel and run the 4.5 (gold) version.

The valve gives you the ability to tune your FPS based on BB weight, barrel length, type of gas and temperature.

Thank you. That was exactly the info I was looking for.

  14. G&P npas, they make various versions like 3.5,4.0,4.5 etc.. Do these figures represent the maximum fps on 0.2's and is anyone using the npas valve kit? To get close to 350fps what 'type' of gas would be needed and of course I assume a npas flow valve will be needed in addition to some other more resilient upgrades over the stock parts?

I have run several MWS’ on Nuprol 3.0 when it gets a bit chilly. In all cases they have run great with no apparent damage.

In my experience it really puts the snap back in the cycle when regular green gas starts to get a bit sluggish as the temperature drops.

May I ask, are your MWS’s stock internals?
And is there a power increase with Nuprol 3.0?

  16. It should run fine on Abbey Ultra Predator gas (the red bottle)... the green bottle may just have a tad less power... Just keep the mags warmish ;)

Report back after the weekend with your findings :)

I have one of these. Works flawlessly as far as I can tell.

I’ve yet to test it fully during a game day, but I’ve fired a few hundred BBs with it and seems to function exactly the same as the stock Marui BCG.

I bought mine from Airsoft Global. Great service and fast shipping. I opted for the silver version, but they also stock regular black and blingy gold.

    http://www.airsoftglobal.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=570_647&products_id=31660

Now I'm thinking blingy gold but that would be too 'gangsta' right? Silver would be a nice colour option for the bolt...  better than having a black bolt with it's paint getting all scratched off like what happens with the Marui one.....

  18. OK, best BB's to use in these beasts? I understand a GBBR is quite brutal in loading bb's one needs to use the hardest almost most perfect bb's out here. I foolishly used Nuprol RZR 0.28's which I believe shattered and caused my nozzle and rubber to go tit's up.... So without further adieu what is it you chaps recommend? Geoff's super precision I assume are the best to use? Incidentally, I spoke to firesupport and they said use a hard bb and said G&G 0.28's and higher are very good for GBBRs?

  19. Chaps, is the bolt carrier group the same dimensions for all the MWS models. I’ve got the CQBR version so wanted to confirm that if something says compatable with MWS M4A1 it means by default CQBR too.
