  1. Would door stops make a good dampening pad for a cylinder?

If you’re dead set on trying hard rubber like door stop - go to screwfix and get 1/2” flat tap washers  .

  2. Hot glueing netting.

      Yes, your assumption is correct.

I could have used shoe glue, but I didn't have any around.

I found hot glue to be quite fast too compared to my old method of attaching netting (tons and tons of zip ties).

For my next project I'll make sure to have some shoe glue around, so I can experiment with that as well :)

I love the stuff, I also use it as a crude waterproofing material for certain projects along seems that need extra strength! Dude you need amazon prime ;)

Heh. I had a prime subscription, then cancelled it because of two reasons:

Don't like how Amazon treats workers (especially here in Italy, there have been reports of almost slavery conditions) and I don't use it enough to justify the fee, even if it's small, I order maybe once or twice a year from there. 2019 has been an exception as some of the products I got from Amazon I couldn't find elsewhere..

  3. I wonder if GBB makers have ever thought of an expansion chamber somewhere to reduce cool down, especially on pistols..

tbh i'm not sure it'd help all that much, at some point you're going to be relying on the liquid boiling to replenish itself, although granted i have shot one of those maruzen m11's and it was pretty impressive (at least compared to asg's more conventionally designed m11)

for winter co2 is the better option, although granted co2 mags come with their own set of problems.

i tend to just avoid spamming when running a pistol, that's what rifles are for, never really use more than a couple of shots per engagement, for range work you're better taking time to get a good aim anyway.

    3. Immortal

      Immortal

I don't think mags get a decent seal on the gun in order to have such a chamber (thinking of how Co2 Caplets work with airgun valves - it would have to be built into the mag I suppose so a space issue... just my 50p's worth of grey matter)

  4. Good day of airsoft, although I'm not really happy with a plastic holster on my hip.

Need to craft an armpit holster or move my dtd on a chest rig somehow.

Left shoulder is pretty handy if you can fit it there

    2. Skara

      Skara

I'm gonna try to place the holster at my 4/5 o'clock on the belt for now and see what happens, should be out of the way if I need to rest on one side to take a shot, meanwhile I'll be looking for an alternative, more definitive solution

  5. Took midcaps out for a spin, holy cow they're fun to use :) almost forgot what "fun" means in airsoft :)

Also took the ssx out and it performed nicely, somewhat quiet even without the suppressor 😕

Did have one double feed, but that's because I cocked the gun and de-cocked it again to holster it.
range is stupid Btw, outranged everything. By a far margin. With stupid good accuracy.

Only a handful of users left and they are definitely not smart ones.

Mods think they have the supreme knowledge of airsoft and they shit quite hard on new users who try to gather information on the game.

Forum layout doesn't help either as it's really chaotic

Btw it's SAM (soft air mania).

  7. So, my birthday is coming on Monday and I'm thinking about a new purchase.

    So far the choices are:

    -Mancraft kit for the striker

-HPA kit for my main m4 (Ares am 009)

I was also considering a sidearm.

    Any suggestions?

  8. > southern Europe is under a pretty harsh heatwave with super high temperatures coupled with shrek's swamp levels of humidity

    > there is a tournament on Sunday, in one of the hottest places in my region, fully exposed to the sun from every angle and terrain is quite rough since we're playing on top of a mountain that has no trees, only shrubs.

    > organization has changed the position of a couple of objectives "because they were too close to each other", effectively chancing the whole tournament.

    > 25kms under the sun and 7 objectives, to be completed within 8 hours

    > of course there are no water fountains or streams or anything to collect water from.

That is fecking ridiculous ! There’s no way on the face of this earth your NOT going to have some serious if not life threatening de-hydration situations there ! Who ever is organising it AND still allowing it to go on should be kicked off this one and permanently banned from ever organising another event of any kind .

      Period .

    3. Skara

      Skara

      It's gonna be fun.

Last tournament the organizing team removed a couple of objectives because they weren't the safest thing considering the weather.

If they're smart, they'll go back to the original plot and maybe bring some extra water bottles for the participants.

If not, we'll take out sweet revenge when it'll be our turn to organize 😈

  9. Sniping time tomorrow :D

Also raging time as our field sucks for sniping.

      Steveocee

Good luck with the weather like this. I’ve had to abort this weekend due to wind speeds.

    2. Skara

      Skara

Wind isn't an issue apart from a couple of spots that are really exposed.

Had a nice warm day (Actually a tad too warm for my taste) and once again I reminded myself why nobody runs a sniper rifle on our field xD too much vegetation, longest engagement I had was 20 metres, luckily I had my arp with me.

  10. 2.56 AM.

    4 hours of sleep.

4 hours drive to do and 8 hours of tournament.

    Kill me please.

  11. Packing my gear for tomorrow's long range tournament.

Roughly a 25km hike through various objectives, including recon, assassinations and stealthy stuff to do.

Now, what rig do I pack? 😕

      It is gonna be fun.

Weather forecast says it's already heavily raining up there, and it's gonna rain all day tomorrow xD

I wonder if I should prepare my scuba gear as well..

I just don't know what chest rig to take with me, considering I will bring my 2300bb drum + one spare lonex flash mag (which will stay empty in my pack), a multitool, compass, short 10cm ruler, pens, pencils, some gardening shears aaand a lot of butt paper..

So it's either my Mini Mav or my TMR

    3. Skara

      Skara

      Alright.

I'm soaking wet. Even after a spare change of clothes.

Hasn't stopped raining once, the trail was difficult to begin with, the rain just turned it into a mud and slippery rocks madness.

I had to give up at three quarters of the event because I was getting terrible leg cramps, the rest of my team carried on for the last 2 objectives.

But it was damn fun, this kind of events allows for objective recon rather than doing stuff basically blind. We spent about an hour observing and sneaking up on one of the objectives, and when the HQ gave us a green light we "closed" it in less than 3 minutes, eliminating the whole defense in a matter of seconds and completing all the tasks.

Results aren't out yet but I'm pretty confident we got another first place.

Gear wise, the kit I chose turned out to be way too heavy for the terrain, especially my gun, which turned into a slab of granite with that drum.

Next tournament will see a belt + pack kit with the arp9, hopefully the weather won't be as shit as it was today, further eliminating the bulk and weight of waterproofs.

On top of that I probably need a new pair of boots, my current Crispi ones are getting a tad destroyed and they don't grip that much anymore, along with Gore-Tex slowly giving up on life.

    4. Skara

      Skara

We ended up in 1st place.

We now need another 1st to have access to the national finals.

Yes, markers are too powerful (>1J) and the ammunition type (anything that contains liquids or gases) is strictly forbidden.

But we're in Italy and nobody cares.

  13. Went to Decathlon for a pair of OD trousers and noticed they made a really lightweight OD/RG ubacs for €15.

Yeah I use some of their kit for hiking, as it is good quality for the price.

Mostly tees and trousers, I have a couple of small backpacks and stuff like towels. Been using them for years and I'm still impressed by the material resistance!

I'll report back when I get my hands on them.

  14. Finally a fun day!

11 people, 6 attackers and 5 defenders to spice things up, good team movements and tactics.

Had a big laugh the whole morning although one guy complained about me not calling a hit during the last game, but I honestly didn't feel it (he probably missed as I played with only a tee and belt, no pack or anything), game was over anyway as it would have been a trade but I apologized nonetheless.

If only all game days were like this.

Had one of those last wk , site normally has anything between 60-80 players but there were only 35 on the day , plenty of space to move around the site and the gameplay was so much more better than normal , makes you realise how good it can be ? 👍

  15. Buy cheap, buy twice.

Been telling that to a new team member, he bought a lot of cheap Chinese crap and he's now been annoying for a whole week, texting me and other teammates trying to leech good gear at low prices..

I’d say yes and no to ‘buying cheap, buying twice’ as in if you buy the cheapest you can find ? Then you almost deserve it to implode on its first use to teach you a lesson in being a tight ass ! 😱 BUT equally when I see someone who’s dropped a gazillion £’s on a ‘genuine Hailey strategic’ micro chest rig (and takes great pleasure in telling EVERYONE!) I think it’s a bit of dick waving there is plenty of cheap good kit out there , just don’t be a tight arse with the dosh .👍

PS I’d also say don’t sell him the good mags at a knock down price , teach him a valuable lesson in listening to his team mates ! 😈

    3. Skara

      Skara

Of course I'm not selling him my 5 Lonex mags lol. I'll give him my 2 Ares high caps.

Lonex is lyf. Lonex is love. They just scream reliability all over the place.

I just had a post game chat with teammates about genuine equipment, the thing is, repros are fine as long as they're good quality for the money, otherwise (imo) it's just better to invest a few more beer tokens into something that a) lasts longer and b) holds its value when selling it.

    4. Druid799

      Druid799

Totally agree bud when it comes to gear use ya noggin ! Unless the kit is in an 80% off sale or something like that if it’s priced the same as a can of coke and a packets of chips then odds are it’s a PoS not exactly rocket science ! 🤦‍♂️ Does make me laugh the way I’ll see a player wearing an absolutely shit nasty rig from fleabay that’s probably didn’t cost £20 delivered but then putting on a pair of trainers at the end of the day to drive home that you know they’ve dropped £100+ on ! 😳

  16. I carry too much crap on me when playing 😕

I know, I have 2 belts, but my complaint was directed to my pack, which is usually full of shit since it's rather large (20 litres).

My chest rigs don't bother me at all, they're pretty lightweight and almost unnoticeable even when fully loaded ;)

    3. Druid799

      Druid799

How long do your games last , and how far away are you from the safezone?

    4. Skara

20 minutes game with no pause in between, from 8 am to around noon.

No safezone (apart from our cars, but they're pretty far away from the actual play area)

  17. Cheaters gonna cheat, even if you hurt them.

Blasted a dude in the face with the striker from around 15 metres (gun shoots 0.99J with .20s and I was using 30s, add a bit of joule creep), saw tooth fragments coming out of his mouth, he shrugged it off and kept playing.

Next time I'm gonna load .40s and see if he still doesn't call it when I go through his whole throat.

I'm not saying you did or didn't but having shatterered a canine tooth myself it's not something you can shrug off easily. I had to pull the tooth fragment out which was hanging from a nerve and it was no easy task. I have a high pain threshold and I can say it was not something I could ignore no matter how fast I ripped it out.

    3. Steveocee

      Steveocee

Why would you head/face shot at that range? Aim for centre mass, if it doesn't get called and by a miracle you aren't seen then shoot again. That's extremely dangerous, also a lesson on why you SHOULD wear lower face pro.

    4. Skara

      Skara

Centre of mass WAS his face, that was all I could see as he was peaking from behind a tree..

He also couldn't spot me as I fired through a tiny opening in a barricade. There were at least 2 more guys keeping him pinned..

  18. That moment when you have some spare Euros to waste on airsoft stuff, but your local shops don't have anything interesting :(

  19. I love when it rains and all your teammates decide it's not worth it.

Then the rain stops and everyone is complaining that we're not playing.

I totally agree, bad weather days always provide the most fun. No idea why though.

Maybe it's because we get only 6 to 10 people, the ones that play together all the time, so we're ultra chilled and just want to have a good time.

    3. Adolf Hamster

Totally agree with the above comments. It was raining on and off Saturday and I had one of the best days 'pewing' in a long time! Surrounded by a bunch of like minded people (decent players that took their hits) End of the day, we're all running around at the weekend playing 'army' why does bad weather have to stop that? Combat clothing etc drys out very quickly!

  20. More than 48 hours to deliver a small box.

Like, the post office is literally 200m away from my doorstep, how can they take so fucking much?

Can't even go and collect it myself because they haven't even attempted to deliver it yet.

      Albiscuit

Deliveries in this day and age are soo hit and miss..

Always winds me up how Nike can take an order from me, tell me I have paid. email me three days later telling me item is out stock and I will not receive anything, or email me three days later telling me the item will be dispatched and I should expect delivery in three to five days.

      when:

I have ordered from an independent store in Spain late at night, had an email first thing the next day saying item had been sent and revive it the following day, so two working days from ordering! With sweets in the box :)

Same with airsoft stores and stupid delivery charges/times. If it fits in an envelope why do I need to pay £9.99 for postage PFTT!!!

Its a double edged sword, we buy online as its easier than getting off our arses, yet hate having to pay and wait for items to arrive :P

So please take this as advice from one comrade to another if your as passionate about your sport as you come across on this forum then use that passion and make some changes to your lifestyle, you'd be surprised what a few changes can do,diets are good for short term quick fixes but for long term results I strongly recommend lifestyle changes

i wouldn't worry too much, i'm the same in many respects but it gets better with experience.

the weight issue is easily fixed if you have the motivation or you can change your playstyle and go for a calmer sneakier style of play, there are ways and ways of dealing with issues.

end of the day this hobby is just a bit of fun, if it motivates you to do a bit of self improvement then more power to you (literally!) but you shouldn't get too down over it. i take the view that whilst i might be fat slow and clumsy i've found at least something that'll get my ass out of bed on a sunday morning and doing some exercise with freinds which ultimately is better than the alternative of doing nothing.

I really thought it would be some overpriced piece of junk, considering the 9mm version goes for €80/90 in "local" shops.

Gonna take my M4s there as well and try it. If it feeds, it's mine.

If it doesn't, well, I'll stick to flash mags :P

good for tournaments because it's one less battery to worry about (and less weight to sling around, as my current drum mag feels like it's made of lead lined granite)
