AF-UK will be migrating to new forum software within the next few weeks. You may notice a difference in the appearance and functionality of the forums, but your posts and content will carry over. The Classifieds will be wiped and rebuilt (this includes feedback), but will be available immediately after migration. The current forum software has become a huge headache The forums run on software called IPB. Back in 2023 IPB decided to discontinue their marketplace, and ever since this has meant maintaining certain code without the assistance of authors of the various 3rd party plugins that we use for things like The Classifieds, small moderation tools and other minor tweaks that you likely don't notice like dead thread protection. Without these modules it's impossible to maintain the current rendition of AF-UK without dropping certain large features. A lot of you joined the forums for The Classifieds, and many of you solely use the forums for them so it's untenable that many of the modules that AF-UK uses don't work properly with the latest versions of IPB. We're moving to new software Migration could take as little as a week but may take up to three weeks. Downtime when the migration happens should be less than 24 hours. The new Classifieds will be more reliable and should have a few extra features when it releases with the new forums. The forums themselves will remain largely unchanged. Some data will be lost, but most will remain Although all of your accounts and posts will be retained, many items such as feedback and current classifieds listings will be wiped. Please use the next week or so to save any data that you may need as nothing is guaranteed given the age of the AF-UK database. There is still a small possibility that a full forum wipe will need to take place, but this is very unlikely.9 points

Guys, no personal attacks please. Very few sites are shit, how they're run is often the issue, BUT Usually the biggest problem are some of the players themselves, wannabe tough guys/teams with overinflated ego's that think they're better than they actually are, or downright cheats, & if a site fails to quickly nip this shit in the bud, a poor site reputation soon follows.6 points -

Thanks for that little rant; it says so much about you, none of it positive. When I write about my airsoft days, I focus on the gameplay. I am not writing a review; there is a separate section on here for that. You have either totally ignored what I wrote about being constructive or have not understood it. I talk to site owners about issues so that they can decide what, if anything, to do about them. i don’t know you so I can neither like nor dislike you.5 points -

Colin Allen and 4 others reacted to Galvatron for a topic
No, I don't think we echo your thoughts on this. Legal doesn't mean sensible to do. Not caring what anyone thinks may sound tough and heroic but it can be ultimately foolhardy. As others have said, just because something you plan to do might be legal, that doesn't mean you don't run the risk of an armed police response. You don't need to open-carry a RIF to get the police called on you. If you "look the part", people won't hang about and give you the benefit of the doubt no matter how little you care what anyone thinks.5 points -
Rather than fear of arrest, the advice is the fear of attention. Pre-speed cameras we used to call it the ‘attitude test’ when stopped by traffic police. Failing the attitude test today could be the difference between a concerned person reporting strange activity that gets an inquisitive Bobby talking to you , and a night in the cell.4 points

If it's only the law that matters, can you tell us why you haven't considered the possibility that you can still be arrested for and charged with a public nuisance offence?4 points

Just another couple of irrelevant thoughts. One of our original three founding members of the team had just left the marines, therefore our original t-shirt is identical in appearance to regimental t shirts worn by service personnel. No particular problem as it’s just a green t shirt with a military style logo. However as we are situated around the Salisbury Plain area, and may be up in the morning at the weekend in combat trousers and team t shirt you can then add on one of us who gets short hair cuts but has no situational awareness, and on his way to a game day will routinely stop at the garage for coffee & a newspaper. There are certain types of people who have been hanging around the Salisbury Plain area for decades keeping an eye out for easy targets with no situational awareness. Add to that a few years ago a newer type of people who conducted an untargeted / random attack on an individual who was selected due to proximity, a camouflage style back pack and a short haircut Worst case scenario - you don’t know the current security risk and could be mistaken for what you are not. Easy case scenario - random member of the public finds you suspicious and a call is made, resulting in educational words Ridiculous idea - what landowner would ever think that any business use would be viable when it depends on people getting out of bed on a wet Sunday to dress up and run around the woods????4 points

That doesn't make things any better. Infact joe public is more likely to shit the bed seeing a group of people wearing military kit than one lone weirdo. Then why ask if it's a good idea? Btw that attitude doesn't paint you in a good light, you just sound like a 15 year old emo kid trying to be edgy4 points -

Top day on Saturday at Driver Wood - players maybe hovering between 80 - 100. First game was a fallback game - starting in 'the village', then moving onto the trenches field, and ending off on ‘Oxford Street’ complete with double decker busses, black cabs etc. We were the attacking team with unlimited re-spawn, the defenders were limited to 50 re-spawns on each field. For the first time in a while, I really enjoyed this game - the KC02 recently purchased from the classified section was incredible. The usual stalemate and lack of movement that this game mode can suffer from seemed to be solved in this instance – possibly due to the slightly lower numbers, and partly due to the additional aggression and urgency within the attacking team. Second game of the morning used the main area of the site, and saw me swapping to the upgraded L96 – probably one of most profitable sessions as a sniper that I have had actually. I sacked off any form of ghillie suit, with full reliance of the multicam tropic to do its stuff amongst the Rhododendrons, and focused on plenty of movement to get into advantageous positions. The L96 was shooting absolutely beautifully – it’s a while since I played with it, and the maple leaf bucking must be at least 5 years old now, so I had worried that it would be beyond its best. After lunch, we moved onto a game whereby teams had to locate a satellite dish hidden within the site, and take it to various objectives. I swapped to my recently built M723 for this game – which again, was performing phenomenally. The satisfaction that comes from building a gun from a variety of parts – some new, some old – and then have it work flawlessly on its maiden voyage is immense. I got team killed a few times on this game which is frustrating – but one of the down sides of being on the purple team. The darker arm bands are great for camo, but also make it more likely your own team will light you up. Second game of the afternoon involved the teams collecting bones hidden around the site, and then assembling as much of a complete skeleton as possible within their bases. Bases could be attacked, and bones captured from the other team. Mid-way through, we got word that the Greens had the majority of the bones, so Purple teams’ focus shifted to a relentless assault on the green base. Unfortunately the defence was solid, and whilst we were making progress, the game ended before we could dislodge all of the attackers. Final two games of the day were short games of ‘zombie ‘ – all players holed up inside a large two story structure known as the ‘fortress’, with a few players outside ‘the zombies’. As soon as you are hit, you spawn a short distance from the building and join the zombies. Surprisingly good fun – and the sound of the metal glad walls of the fortress being liberally sprayed from one of the zombies LMGs really added to the flavour. As I was rocking a DMR in the final part of the afternoon, I switched to my AAP – and managed to pick off a handful of zombies at the foot of the fortresses walls before the inevitable happened. A cracking day, superbly marshalled, with all players appearing in good spirits. No hit taking issues as far as I could tell. The site seems to have lots of investment put into it, with a large number of new buildings being constructed, including a new ‘church’ in the village.4 points -

"Looking geared up with bullets and grenades" per se may not be illegal, but if you do it in the right/wrong place, at the right/wrong time, seen by the right/wrong person, it could be a Public Order Act 1986 Section 5 offence isn't it. It also makes you immediately identifiable as a suspect of some firearms related offence (possession of ammo) and met with armed response as pointed out above. If you go hiking like this, there are an infinite number of scenarios that can happen that could get you into all kinds of trouble. To avoid 100% these scenarios, you just don't do it. Also, you getting into trouble is one thing, you potentially damaging the reputation of this hobby is another. In this context "not caring what others think" is pure inconsideration and negligence. It is not a virtue. I don't care about what others think about you either, but I care about what others think about the hobby in general if people sees someone hiking with toy gun mags because they play airsoft.4 points -

As much as I agree it's not a sensible thing to do. What a sad state of affairs that as a law abiding citizen, doing nothing wrong, breaking no laws etc we still can't go outside wearing camo and a slightly "not normal" way of carrying stuff for fear of arrest I understand the society we live in, the risks etc but still, that's the sort of thing that's a slippery slope and it feels we are already sliding.3 points -

If you like SCARs the VFC ones are really nice. I have a SCAR-H and a MK20 SSR and they're such nice guns with good kick and noise. After abstaining for a while i've bought a couple more NGRS 416s. Another 416 Delta that might stay mostly stock or might get a different handguard in time. We'll see.. Then a 416c, which i've wanted for a long time with a project in mind. And a Geissele short handguard to go on it.3 points -

Use stronger gas and they'll run absolutely fine down to freezing IME. For the DEs in particular, you can do well with a GM nozzle and ditching the DE PMags. If you get some ASG red gas you can run them pretty comfortably down that low. Especially if you rotate mags into pouches or especially if you have internal pockets. This is a solid channel in general, but those two videos give a few tips on running MWS guns down to -10°C. (I would be at home with my duvet and hot chocolate rather than playing in that!)3 points -

What you could do is go to a woodland setting where the owners have an understanding with local police that people with replica military gear will be present there. Maybe some sort of site where groups of people who like army man cosplay can get together every Sunday. They could even play pretend army man battles to really get into it and test their gear. Might be a bit pie in the sky though.2 points -

You can be arrested and detained for something that isn't illegal. Ask the "Plasticine Action" t-shirt guy. If a member of the public calls up, and the police attend the scene, then yeah it could end in arrest while they work out whether it was illegal or not. Your choice to chance it.2 points -
Firstly, I don't go out on my own and we all wear camo or military gear. And secondly, I often see others out hiking in military gear. Peoples thoughts and opinions are irrelevant. It's the law that matters. It's obviously not a great idea to go out in public loaded up and that's what I thought. I just wanted you guys to clarify whether it was legal or not. Thanks for all your replies 👍2 points

What they usually think when they see a guy on his own in a public place in full camo: A. Walt nutcase B. Right wing militia nutcase C. Jihadi nutcase The common link to all three is: NUTCASE ! Which is something the rest of us would rather not be tagged as, so when the inevitable happens, maybe best you don't mention your involvement in airsoft👍2 points -

whilst i do suspect that you probably won't get much more than some funny looks from folk you encounter it's wise for us to assume in our advice that the worst case scenario of running into the kareniest karen who ever karened calling the grumpiest cop who ever grumpied right as the daily mail and guardian corporate team hike stumbles across the scene. and as a community it'd look a hell of a lot better for us if we could at least show we strongly discouraged such behavior, no different than the "i'm 12 how do i get a black gun for my freinds to use round the estate don't worry we'll be sensible" posts.1 point -
I'm not going to chance it. I'm a law abiding citizen and don't fancy getting arrested. I also would not want to add any negative feelings towards the airsoft community. I know from experience how the public can be. I was once arrested at gunpoint when a member of the public called the police while I was out shooting rabbits with my air rifle. I was on private land with permission when the police helicopter hovered above me, then several armed police units arrived and a swarm of MP5's came at me. I was released without charge but it took almost a year to get my rifle back. The worst part is whoever called the police was trespassing as there was no public access!1 point

Saw this thread and thought I'd share one of my projects I'd done a couple of years ago. Nothing too fancy but it's unique as I've not seen any other airsoft replica Turkish HK33 looking replicas as accurate tbh. Classic Army Base gun. Slim Handguard made from a real G3 Handguard. Railed Handguard made from an old springer shotty and an MP5 3d printed handguard. The GL front end was a cheap battery box cut to suit with the handguard made from foamex board. The cocking handle was fashioned from foamex board too. The lower was a standard MP5 one with the embossed bullet symbols filled in. Repainted in OD then the new bullet symbols drawn on freehand by marker pens. The magazine is just a spring Sig552 one modded to fit. Again, nothing too fancy, but I like the finished job.1 point

Firesupport https://www.firesupport.uk/ If you are looking for great prices on Tokyo Marui and other products or you are looking for upgrade parts for your AEG, Shotgun, GBBR or GBB Pistol then Firesupport is the place to look. We stock over 16,000 products, we have over 200 different brands on our system. We try to set prices to be competitive with other shops or better. We have an amazing tech called Ian , he has a great knowledge of airsoft guns and parts needed to upgrade them. We only recommend upgrades that we would do personally rather than sell a load of parts that would make no difference. We sell, repair, upgrade and service all airsoft guns except HPA and some low cost Chinese models where spare parts are impossible to obtain. Emails are usually answered within a few hours and bar a few exceptions within a day. Most days the phone is answered quickly, however occasionally there are some days we have less staff at work and there is not always someone available to answer the phone. We get some great reviews on trustpilot https://uk.trustpilot.com/review/fire-support.co.uk and facebook https://www.facebook.com/FiresupportShop/reviews?locale=en_GB reviews. If you need original parts for your gun that you can't find anywhere and its a brand we deal with then we can special order direct from the manufacturer, the prices will be higher but that's dues to high postage costs, even on a part that does not cost much. We try to deal with people as we would like to dealt with, returns and refunds are usually dealt with quickly. All the products we sell on our web site that say they are in stock are actually kept in stock in our shop. We do not have a "European Warehouse" where products are ordered in when sold in our shop and you have to then wait 2-3 weeks for delivery. Products are usually despatched within 24 hours (Monday to Friday) of the day they are ordered. Occasionally we have a stock error (maybe once a week) where we then contact the customer and can change the order, refund the missing item or provide a full refund. Need it quickly then you need to choose the Next Day service and order before 12pm and we post it on a 24 hour service the same day. We get regular deliveries of products and loads of new products every year, over a 1000 new products have been added to the web site in the last year. Please see for latest updates https://www.firesupport.uk/new-products/latest-updates.html broken down by supplier and date. and for what's new see https://www.firesupport.uk/new-products/coming-soon.html broken down by what's new with a category per month.
