Weirdly, I was listening to "Problems" by the Sex Pistols as I read that! Too many problems, why am I here? Need to be 'cause you're all too clear And I can see something wrong with you But what do you expect me to do?4 points -

Warhead UK rebranding to Redux Airsoft

Here is one of the chunks Luke posted about the whole thing. https://www.facebook.com/share/p/197sBsmGQP/ After this they did start dealing with warrenty and sales in the uk for all the remaining warhead stock I believe but this is one of the inciting incidents.2 points -
If I remember correctly they had a bit of a falling out with Warhead in general. I think it was due to the people at Warhead UK thinking that the support from Warhead global was inadequate and then warhead global tried cutting them off. Luke was posting stories on his Facebook saying that they were still offering support to customers regardless. Please correct me if I am wrong, I am only going off on what I "some what" remember and I apologise if what I'm saying is not 100% true.2 points

I read it as "Too many problems, too much time and money spent on global support, best of luck. PS, buy our new brand, we promise to support it this time!" Perhaps I'm being uncharitable.2 points -
these guys are based in Netherlands I believe, although that might be a front for a Chinese company - lot of stuff goes through NL. Price is indeed pretty decent, £65 for the SLR, says shipped via GLS. All Nylon of course. I purchased a sample MAXIM branded M4 from the factory in China, and it's really nice externally. I also have a converted SLR. Super easy to convert to airsoft, just need new gearbox, inner barrel and hop chamber.2 points

SSE 18 worth it?
Rogerborg and one other reacted to Anonymoose for a topic
The general consensus is that AEPs are dogshit and a waste of money, poor performance and horrendous trigger response. Better off with a CO2 pistol, work all year round, largely unaffected by cooldown, etc. This was recommended to me by @Colin Allen and he was absolutely spot on, and i've only used CO2 pistols since. I have Umarex/VFC Glock CO2 mags i run in my other Glock GBBs without issue. Going by the SSE18 i'm guessing you're fine with Glocks, so worth a look. (I put the CO2 mags in my 18c and the full-auto is fast.) Also have an Umarex/KWC CO2 H&K USP, which is really nice but all proprietry inside which mostly rules out upgrades.2 points -

Prompted by the lad asking about how to get an airsoft gat for playing in a field, I was going to suggest gel blasters as I'd seen dayglo / stickerbomb ones for sale. But, well, well, well, looks like they've gone full RIF. For example https://gelweapons.co.uk/collections/gel-blasters/ You can even find them for sale on Amazon: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Blaster-Goggles-Upgrade-Version-Backyard/dp/B0DFP99WQY (I've reported that one to see if they care). These are quite obviously RIFs. They're not airsoft guns, and they can't claim our defence. They seem to be over 1J, so would notionally be "lethal barrelled" air guns (just because they're intended to shoot gel balls doesn't mean you couldn't drop steel BBs in). They might even need an air gun licence in Scotshire. Heck, full auto and "lethal barrelled"... I'm assuming that the sellers and owners are just getting away with it because, well, nobody cares. Just pure disinterest from the police and trading standards. At this point, I rather suspect that having a defence and a defined non-firearm category is the only thing that's making airsoft retailers ask for a defence.1 point

Ah, that makes more sense. I was indeed being uncharitable, and got it bass ackwards. Mea culpa. Well, good luck to them. Better to own the brand than be the whipping boys for someone else.1 point

Any gearbox should be able to handle a M105, it's not until you get to M130 and above you can start to have issues with motor, gears and battery. Of course not all M105's are the same, was it one of mine or an ASG?1 point

Aps uar, fnc, tar21, sa80, fn2000, m249, G36 with a magwell adapter, just a few examples of alternatives to an AR platform but uses the same mags.1 point

@Chev Chelios @Rogerborg Paintball guns are CURRENTLY considered by the Home Office as non RIF but very hazily grey, and provided that they are used with only standard type paintballs (whether that is standard .68” or .43” / .50” which are fairly common for magfed pistols) and First Strike shaped projectiles (as they were subjected to approved testing on lethality/frangibilty) Similar shaped projectiles are not acceptable, and solid projectiles are not acceptable for the paintball classification and would be treated as air weapons For the Home Office to be happy about that the usage is recommended to be for use on insured paintball sites, and a recommendation has been made that retailers require UKPSF player membership for a VCRA like ‘paintball skirmisher’ like defence ——- with no standing under the VCRA legislation to back that up, and you can buy membership on purchase - there is no game playing count etc UKPSF trade/retail members adopted that policy, but non UKPSF sellers won’t be doing so …………. This has wavered quite a bit in recent years and the UKPSF are regularly dealing with the Home Office and legal advisors with updates at the annual trade & player AGMs The specifics have been updated in each of the last few AGMs The police, customs etc have acted upon the high power home defence, and solid projectiles etc in a number of cases in recent years (Including cases that have been flagged on here a few times) …………. GelSoft had legal problems in Australia etc and found to be illegal - No get out clause of ‘it’s just a toy’ ………… It will be a matter of nothing having come to people’s attention so far with UK GelSoft RIFs - which means someone can easily find themselves in a world of hurt ……. Historically there was the argument that a firearm is not a RIF, therefore a low power air weapon that shoots frangibles (AKA paintball) was a firearm and therefore not an imitation / replica The same was considered for air guns which look exactly like firearms Me and Rogerborg agreed to disagree Case law has since established otherwise with an airgun lookalike found in court to be both an airweapon (firearm) and a RIF1 point

Oof, sorry to hear that. Warnings aside, an M105 is nothing, I suspect there was something hooky inside the box to begin with given the low power. Fingers crossed that it's a cheap fix, if you don't want to dive in there yourself.1 point

I believe they're basically airsoft gearboxes, but a lot of plastic rather than Chinesium, no hop unit, and tin foil barrels.1 point

SSE 18 worth it?
Rogerborg reacted to Cannonfodder for a topic
What gun and gas are you using at the moment? It could be that you just need a more powerful gas. As already posted, AEPs are generally a bit crap. While they may work in all temperatures (although colder weather affects battery life) they're low powered (0.5j) so players may genuinely not notice the hit. Especially if it's on load carrying kit or they're wearing thicker clothing. I'd look at either a non blow back like the mk23 or a CO2 powered pistol1 point -

As another option, some green gas pistols can work in winter too - non blow backs like the MK23 (if you can stand the firm and mushy trigger), or those that have little recoiling mass - like the AAP. If you have struggled with GBB pistols in the winter but haven’t yet tried an AAP, that might be worth a try. I run mine on MAPP gas in the winter, and as a secondary, it's been spot on down to zero degrees and a little below. Caveated to say - that's use as a secondary - i.e. 5 quick shots every now and then to get me out of trouble when people are in my MED. I suspect use as a primary in the dead of winter, it would still be sub par.1 point -

Gel blaster RIFs - what's up with those?
Rogerborg reacted to Chev Chelios for a topic
Are they classed as using "fraggable" projectiles like Paintball guns I wonder, but would being able to fire full auto negate that or cane they point to other types of gun ref projectile size. Could also fire projectile's other than Paintballs so not sure about that point. As you say the hole thing is just PR and until it benefits nobody cares. The rules on Airsoft guns are silly when anyone over the age of 18 can rock up and buy an Air Gun that looks 100% like an Airsoft Gun or just buy an IF and spray it. I just thank God Hazel Blears got fucked off or we would all be speed softers right now1 point -

Just finished putting this together, it was a boneyard Cyma Platinum MP5 CM0.41G which was scratched, bashed and wouldn’t shoot straight. A good clean and service on the inside, fresh coat of paint to the metalwork, fore grip, Nuprol torch, theta optic, a bit of camo tape and extended battery tube for the stock and she’s ready to skirmish on Sunday. Might pull it apart again and paint the metal parts in camo and add a dummy suppressor at some point but trying to decide if it should stay Matt black as it is a MP5?1 point

Well we tried changing the spring and have managed to break the gun, tried putting a M105 in it It won't fire now, even with the old spring back in. Its been left at the local site for the tech to look at it next week and fix it, they suspect that the mosfet is turning off to protect the gearbo as it may have stripped some teeth from the piston due to the spring being too strong Lessons learned, and looks like I will be without it until I get back from ny hoilday at the end of the month Luckily I have my other M4 I can use for next weeks outdoors game0 points
