Loving my TM MP5 SD6 but thought I needed to just add a bit of furniture to tart it up so purchased a ASG Airsoft MP-5 G3 Series High Scope Mount in Black, in the hope it locks on securely. Arrived quickly, fitted easily and attached my also recently purchased Vector Optics ‘Frenzy’ red dot. Looks ok me thinks…2 points -

While ownership of an IF for a minor may be legal as a gift from a parent to their kids for example, the implication is that it would be used in the presence of a responsible adult. As implied, it only takes one moment of fooling about to escalate very quickly to a life-changing injury or worse. Even on private land, you can be held liable for any injuries that happen and I don't imagine you or the land owner have a liability insurance policy protecting you. I don't want to rain on your parade as I am glad to see future generations of airsofters join the sport. I just think you're better off playing at an insured skirmish site or a shooting range for the point of safety, even if there's a cost to it.2 points -
Prompted by the lad asking about how to get an airsoft gat for playing in a field, I was going to suggest gel blasters as I'd seen dayglo / stickerbomb ones for sale. But, well, well, well, looks like they've gone full RIF. For example https://gelweapons.co.uk/collections/gel-blasters/ You can even find them for sale on Amazon: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Blaster-Goggles-Upgrade-Version-Backyard/dp/B0DFP99WQY (I've reported that one to see if they care). These are quite obviously RIFs. They're not airsoft guns, and they can't claim our defence. They seem to be over 1J, so would notionally be "lethal barrelled" air guns (just because they're intended to shoot gel balls doesn't mean you couldn't drop steel BBs in). They might even need an air gun licence in Scotshire. Heck, full auto and "lethal barrelled"... I'm assuming that the sellers and owners are just getting away with it because, well, nobody cares. Just pure disinterest from the police and trading standards. At this point, I rather suspect that having a defence and a defined non-firearm category is the only thing that's making airsoft retailers ask for a defence.1 point

I haven’t found one in stock for a couple of years now - if you find a source, let me know!1 point -
Just finished putting this together, it was a boneyard Cyma Platinum MP5 CM0.41G which was scratched, bashed and wouldn’t shoot straight. A good clean and service on the inside, fresh coat of paint to the metalwork, fore grip, Nuprol torch, theta optic, a bit of camo tape and extended battery tube for the stock and she’s ready to skirmish on Sunday. Might pull it apart again and paint the metal parts in camo and add a dummy suppressor at some point but trying to decide if it should stay Matt black as it is a MP5?1 point

Trouble shouldering rifle with Osprey MkIV

I've got one and have used in on outdoor fields many times without problems, loaded up with. 28g bbs mine will happily keep up. The only things to be wary of are, 1. The plastic body can be a bit fragile, especially round the pins at the back. This isn't a problem if you run it without the stock 2. If you get the one with ris rails battery changes are a pain in the arse. You need to take the whole rail off before you can even disconnect the battery which involves 7 small nuts and bolts which are easily lost if doing it in the field. I fitted a peq box as it also allows me to use a bigger battery (in both size and voltage)1 point -

I understood that the gen 1 is fixed hop with a hop patch (not a full hop rubber) and gen 2 is adjustable hop. See here. Gen 2 has a hop wheel. Gen 1: Gen 2:1 point

UPL has molybdenum disulfide in it which is worse for rubber than silicone oil.1 point

Re the AK, Yeah, It's a fixed 100 style. I've been looking for one of those stock adapters, Since unscrewing the whole rear end of the rifle's getting a liiiittle tiring at the start and end of each day :^) Been eyeing a Galaxy MP5K, Since I heard they can reach like 310 fps? (for 50ish quid too!!) Would it work for mid-long range outdoor fields though? There is something incredibly fun and appealing about throwing myself around in unreasonably heavy gear. +intimidation if you wear big steel-capped boots in CQB rings! They may be able to hear me stomping towards 'em from 3 rooms away, But at least I wont stub my toes. The 20+ degrees over here as of recent has made me reconsider. Just a bit.1 point -
Control of safety is the main issue I’d recommend against it Next depends on how private your private land is Keep your distance from boundaries etc, and ensure you are not overlooked Ensure your ‘private’ land is not business related - often farmers children want to play on their ‘private’ land, but then it turns out to be publicly accessed land for the business of farming, such as milk lorry drivers You can legally own a 2 tone IF (unless you are much younger than 18) You (and your friends) must be responsible with that IF1 point

Tell me about it, I've got a fair pair on me ? Or maybe a nice bulle mle, I think there's a jolly nice chap selling a couple in the classifieds ATM ? https://airsoft-forums.uk/classifieds/item/64168-bulle-rigs-od/ Helikon TMR would definitely fit the bill?1 point -
The issue isn't you, the Osprey is just wank, literally nothing you can do to the vest, your gun or your stance to change that. I've probably fired a good few hundred rounds while wearing the Mk4 and it was always a contortion act of combative awkwardness. When it's stuffed with real armour it'll cover you well against artillery shrapnel and IED frag, which you care about in the relevant circumstances, problem is of course they aren't airsoft, and there's a reason cool SF blokes who jump out of helos in to room-clearing combat where every bit of speed and mobility count all wear American/American-influenced trimmed down plate carriers vs bulky mass issued armour. My guess with the grey pad is that it's only intended to work in the prone, not sure why exactly, presumably just the result of troop trials, but it's simply far higher than you'd ever want to place the butt of your rifle when in any other shooting position. There's a million and 1 different options for rigs, if we were all truly honest we'd say the most efficient of which is just a hi-cap in a pocket, but then all men would lose our form of fashion shopping and dressing up as a hobby. End of the day, if you're a small person, micro chest rigs and small belts are the best thing to go for; there are some specifically smaller plate carriers but they're not as common out in the market.1 point

TBH everyone goes through the full plate carrier period, it's what's generally seen in the media in the various conflicts etc, but the truth is they're overkill for airsoft for so many reasons, & most players eventually see the light & switch to more suitable kit.1 point -

I don't think you even need that if you've seen the typical muzzle and trigger discipline of the average airsofter during the safety briefing.1 point -
Update on Stolen Kit
mrfoxhound reacted to Anonymoose for a topic
So why would they say ex-army, and not ex-police? Just so we're all on the same page, none of this adds up and everyone thinks you're talking utter bollocks, in the follow-up thread that no-one asked for, after you got locked out of the first one. In the (unlikely) event any of it's true, don't do dumb shit like keeping RIFs in your car and rolling around with them day to day. That alone should be obvious. Someone who says they have 4 kids should be a little more sensible and responsible. ?1 point -

Erk sorry to hear that guys! I've hammered mine - I run it alongside my 1911 and it's just way too much fun to use. Been getting lots of kills with it Would be nice if we got a diagram of the internals - I'll open her up for a lube/clean after my next game. I'll be sure to take some photos.1 point
