  1. I've tried all kinds of PPE over the years; Bolle glasses, WARQ helmets and I've settled on HeroSharks. Sure, they're mesh and they come with a slight risk. I've been playing since 2012 though and have yet to see for myself shard of plastic getting through mesh. I didn't get on with bolle, especially in a CQB environment. I would fog up no matter what I tried. The WarQ helmet was really good. I had the internal comms to chat to friends. Only down fall to it is it's really bulky. Trying to look over objects meant your head popped up a good distance before your eyes. Trying to look down sights meant your sights had to be on a silly height raiser. HeroSharks were the one for me 👌

  3. I prefer mid caps as I hate the rattle of high caps. I'm not stealthy or anything, it just annoys me. Oh, and I kept forgetting to wind up high caps and wondered why it wasn't shooting anything! Lol I carry 6 mid caps but rarely use more than 3 or 4 per game.

  5. Ignore these people, they're idiots. Unfortunately there seems to be a vocal minority of people, particularly on places like faceache and reddit, who think that you need to totally gut any airsoft gun to make it usable and this couldn't be further from the truth. The most I've done to my AEGs is changing the hop rubber. The specna arms guns are a great choice and even the most budget friendly Core range are solid guns which are better quality than some similarly priced guns, eg the cyma 5XX lines with their bodies made from recycled ready meal trays One the subject of PPE, get some gloves too especially for cqb as hits to the hand/knuckles bloody hurt

  6. It fires on full auto regardless of which firing mode it's on. Most CQB sites permit single-shot only. The lack of a functioning safe mode on an AEG makes it a liability unless the battery is disconnected before entering the safe zone.

  7. I would suggest to start with Hi-caps and then go to mid caps once you've played few games and need more magazine interaction.

  8. Do you want to be winding a magazine to keep shooting? If not then Mid Caps I carry 4 mid caps and 1 high cap as a backup You can get Mid Cap mags that hold over 200 rounds now as standard

  9. Usually bring about half a dozen mid caps and a hi cap per aeg to a site. The hi cap can be useful as a backup or for longer games. If say one of your friends' guns goes down it's a lot easier to loan them an Aeg with a hi cap. Particularly if you are using snowflake magazine guns rather than something Stanag/M4 magazine based. Also depends on the brand, certain models of LCT have proprietary magazines and their midcaps are absolute dreck. So to answer your question a mix of Hi-caps and Mid caps.

  11. I'd forgotten about that guy. As his polished turd didn't sell for £70 then I can't help wondering why he thinks it will for more Shame he forgot to mention this second time around when the tech dismantled it to fit the micro switch, the bolt behind the magwell broke, theres enough of it for the ghn to work fine, but obviously needs mentioning, It makes me wonder what else is he hiding?

  13. Excellent! I am glad it went well. I did the same with the G3 trigger when I fitted a Hybrid.

  14. It's already been said by many but in the context of the AR-15 platform, mid-cap mags are my favourite personally. Like Dan Bow, the rattle of high caps annoys me much more than wanting to be stealthy. These days, I pretty much reserve my high-caps (for AR-15) to my loaners for my friends from outside airsoft who came along. I have a variety of 140-250 round mid-caps with my AR-15 AEGs, the latter is the PTS EPM1 mags.

  17. The usual games I participate in last around 30mins to 1hour and I find that my usual loadout of having 5 mid-cap mags, including the one in the gun, with a loaded speedloader will suffice when shooting conservatively. Now I've been pushing my AK into a suppressive fire role and I would switch to having 4 mid-caps on myself and either a hi-cap or a drum mag on the gun. The hi-cap I'm using is a 6L31 quadstack AK mag with around 1000rnds and as for the drum mag is an electric winding RPK-16 with 2000rnd. With me having to push the AK into the suppressive role, I find that I don't even have to sometimes reload the hi-cap/drum mag at all. And when I do, I just dump the hi-cap/drum mag into my backpack and revert to only shooting at what I can see.

  18. Ahoy, and welcome. What they all said: by default, mid caps, with a backup hi-cap (which you probably got with the gun) is generally a good shout for most AEGs. It does depends on the gun, and play style / site though. Are you running anything peculiar? Low caps are pretty much pointless, because you can just partially load a mid-cap if you want to run real capacity for a milsim or to play in hard mode.

  19. Both. it has like a pull and turn to extend. I'm assuming it's a spring on a circlip . are they easy to strip down, I've had barrel off today to get rid of the plastic bipod. so many fake screws n pins that don't do anything hence my reluctance to go at it. OK I've sorted it. pushed the pins out and tightened up a hidden Allen bolt. thanks guys. easier than I thought. (was over thinking it)

  20. Completely forgot to update this! Bought a standard m4 trigger off patrolbase and it, pretty much, all slotted together perfectly. It's back to shooting like a dream.

  22. You might wind hicap mags but TBH 1 Highcap wound properly just once will allow hundreds of shots before you have to wind again, With low caps (for the realism) you'll need to reload about 5-6 mags for the same capacity. I use both & prefer using hicaps in my AEG's, GBBR you're limited to around 30 shots in each mag.

  23. Not a chance in hell basically. You as a consumer will be unable to find a carrier willing to ship it as its on every shipping companies prohibition list. Also, there is no point trying to fudge it, as everything gets scanned at entry and exits of countries.

  24. Everyone loves the idea of it until they actually try it. Fun parallels with MTBs - I used to be a pretty keen MTBer until I developed "downhill specific geometry" if you see what I mean. Now, when I started doing it vaguely regularly I picked a decent starter bike at the time (a KHS if I recall). Nothing fancy, Shimano STX groupset, butted steel frame etc. By about 6 months in it had titanium skewers, V brakes, a mix of XT and LX parts and a new triple butted frame that weighed less than my right nut. Did it need it? Not really. Did it make me a better rider? God, no. Was it unnecessarily expensive? Absolutely. Just like airsoft. I still wear my old Endura Humvee top for airsoft when it gets really warm!

  25. I have a mix of GBBs and NGRSs. I like the GBBs more but the NGRSs are a good compromise. Don't have any standard AEGs, they don't interest me at all with no feedback.

  28. Yes of course - if you are using NiMH batteries, there is no need (or possibility) to balance charge them. That charger that i linked to earlier in the thread can happily charge NiMH batteries as well (just via the main connector), and has a specific programme for it.

  29. Mws all the way if you want to be a real man child. The lack of recoil or feedback returning the bolt lost it for me. Never heard of her.

  30. Lipo batteries always have a balance connector attached in addition to the main plug. Or are you referring to your charger not having a socket for the balance connector? If so, time to upgrade your charger. Whilst you can charge a lipo without balancing the charge between cells, it's not great for battery longevity, and ultimately batteries are the difference between a good game day, and leaving halfway through disappointed.

  32. Indeed, or a banana plugs to mini tamiya connector- e.g https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/283864354843? The plastic on Specna flex is not too bad actually. Solid, with a good texture.

  34. That's a phenomenal amount of features for the money. It would come down to how good the plastic is, I haven't handled one. But a fully featured fire control system, quick change spring, and rotary hop are strong arguments. Doesn't look like it comes with a mini-Tamiya connector, but Deans-to-mini-Tamiya converters are readily available. Although if you're any way technically inclined, I'd always recommend binning off Tamiya in favour of soldering on Deans, if you buy a gun that's still pre-wired for VHS. I know, I know, XT-60 is even betterer, but I run an eBike on Deans, 36V and a sustained 250W / peak 400W hauling 100kg of metal and meat around, without any heat or hassles. It's fine for airsoft.

  35. First time seeing this vid thanks. First review that made me consider was negative Airsoft being remarkably positive in their tear down video which is such a rarity. Think I’m gonna pull the trigger on this one

  36. That looks very familiar... too familiar from the fact that both profiles list a broken MP5K with the same scuffs on the box and a SAS 12 in a velvet-lined display case.

  37. Having a variety of play style is always fun. I tend to Snipe during the warmer months and use a M4 for cooler months/CQB games. I must admit though, I find sniping more fun 😎

  38. I'd say there's 2 reasons you see so many posts online about guns that broke super quick: 1. I'd bet that in 99%+ of the instances where somebody buys an AEG, goes to a game and the gun works, they don't say anything about it on the internet. Whereas if it breaks there's a strong likelihood they will say something (applies to all conceivable products). 2. People starting out unfortunately don't tend to really know which brands are good so they just buy 'the cool looking gun' (whatever that is in their mind) and some of the turd brands happen to be good at knowing how to design the aesthetics of their guns in order to sell lots of cheesey gearboxes e.g. Ares. Plus of course there's a possible newbie fudge factor with people jamming dropped-BBs in to mags or other random acts of RIF mis-use. Also crappy uber cheap BBs, mags and/or batteries can be huge contributors, just like bad ammo or mags with real firearms.

Ugly little M4, in very good condition, this PDW is fitted with a Leviathan mosfet, the latest model that you can set via Bluetooth and has a special made trigger feeling on the trigger pull (it costs about 115£). The M4 rifle only costs £260 in shops, it has been used only in the garden then the stock locking button snapped. Now has fitted a new one made from brass. Comes with a midcap mag. Price does not include the battery or the red dot (add £25 if you want the red dot)
