So ive wanted a little pdw / smg for a while but when I eventually grabbed a kwa mp7 I wasn't best pleased with the performance and I dislike having guns that use proprietary parts as I like to keep spares on hand for all my stuff. So I decided to design this little thing. Everything that isnt 3d printed came from a we tech glock 19 (with the exception of the recoil spring which is a raven g17 one and the inner barrel which is 120mm maple leaf one). It is lovely and snappy as the bolt weighs very little. Ill stick it on some scales alongside the original metal slide at some point. As it is it is fully working. There are some things Id like to improve like the last round hold open as currently that just catches on the front of the bolt which puts a little too much force into it for my liking. Made this one have a grip that can take glock 19 mags as that's what I have and now its on to aesthetics. Obviously it will have a fully enclosed upper receiver For my personal version ill probably just have an rmr mount but ill inevitably make a railed version too at some point. Right now im trying to decide what grip texture to put on it.

  2. It’s all about honing your skills, muscle memory, snap shooting , reflex training I used to do a lot of similar drills for paintball tournament training years ago and think it massively improves skills out in the field I am a big lad, and don’t (can’t) do much running about, but I’m fucking lethal at getting the first shot of quick and accurately , caught many an opposition player out just by being fastest and more accurate. At the end of the day, when everyone is mag dumping their las mag into a puddle or their mate, Im the dork standing behind a barricade, popping out and putting a shot into a branch that’s 10m away, repeatedly, to train my muscle memory. Its the “Seven P’s” “Proper Planning and Practice Prevents Piss Poor Performance” 😂

  3. Slowly getting to how I want it, got the FTC mount on order, probably going to cheapskate on a repro chinese G43 for the moment, and get the Vortex Micro3X down the line when I can justify dropping £300 on a magnifier, to match with the Vortex Crossfire.

  5. I've made a few courses in the garden before - a couple of hours cutting out a lifetimes supply of IPSC carboard targets from old boxes, mounted on garden canes, inc. a few white 'no shoot' targets partially obscuring a couple on each course. A wooden framed plate rack with steel discs held loosely in place within 3d printed cradles, lots of steel disc 'gongs', and a few falling plate steel 'popper' and disc targets. I've cut up an old mesh trampoline net which I use as screens to restrict field of views/arcs (perfect for the job as once cut up as each 'panel' has a sleeve either side for garden canes to be inserted). Mild steel discs can be readily purchased online of various sizes and thicknesses - I tend to find FH Brundle a good supplier (ebay is more expensive). These can be painted (e.g. white line marking paint) and drilled to be hung as gongs etc. Also, I've made a IPAS (Iron Plate Action Shoot) set up - which is good fun - 5 mild steel squares, 4 of them painted white and a fifth in red, paired with 5 simple wooden stands that allow the targets mounted at various heights/configurations. To be shot as fast as possible with a pistol, always ending on the red - various mobile phone shot timer apps will work. Both are mildly diverting BBQ side activities for guests....! But of course, old tin cans stuck on top of garden canes also works...

This is how my SR and my M14s are set up: Stops you having to lean the gun and is quicker to get back on the scope when you need to.

  9. Its done in various forms on real ones to see how much ammo you have left, i know this isn't a thing in Airsoft but I'm a hardcore ADF LARP'er, and I would annoy my ADF mates if I didn't have that little detail.

Can't say I ever have. It's not a huge amount of air that's being blasted into your goggles, it's just enough circulation to stop them fogging up. I've played a full 6 hours with it on it's highest setting and not had an issue.

  11. It's essentially a stock WE with a Bodykit attached - If you're lucky you might get someone to pay 55% of cost, so you'd be looking at about £430 for the lot on that basis. But it may also sit for months. I would sell it with 4 mags that are all leak free and sell the other mags independently, as 4 is enough to potentially skirmish with, but also not artificially inflate the price.

    What sight?

I've tried and failed with canted irons for the reasons you state - and no adjusting of the sights could compensate for the skewiff hop effect at any useful range. But conceivably, with a canted re dot, it might be possible to utilise without actually canting the rifle - especially if (against conventional wisdom) it were to be mounted to the left of a (right handed set up) rifle?

    What sight?

The big issue with canted sights is that the hop will fire the BB off to the left if you lean the gun over. That said, I have canted irons on my SR25k and I've had reasonable results with a canted Docter/RMR style sight too. Personally I run a Vector Optics Sphinx on the top of my LPVO and that works well.

    What sight?

I'd go the vortex route personally. I've been using real steal optics for a long time and the difference is very obvious and I wouldn't go back. In fact the vortex crossfire is what'd be going for if my current optic dies but for the sake of domestic peace its not been done yet. Regards the magnifier, I'm sure it'd be a better setup performance wise using a lesser spec magnifier on a good optic than a pair of cheaper units.

  23. Ordered from 18 airsoft on the 20/01. order confirmed on 23/01 with an email stating one item was out of stock, they can change it to an item of same value or PayPal any difference. item changed and goods sent, arrived by post today. So a total of around 13 days from start to finish. they communicated well and were quick to come back. I’ll be shopping there again soon! I did get the dreaded email from Royal Mail about customs, but no charges!

I designed one a few years back, and printed a prototype to test airflow - but preferred a goggle-mounted fan solution so never developed it any further V2 was to be fully enclosed with an integrated battery to go in a counterweight pouch.

  26. Titans have an issue with cheaper/low TPA motors. They may have changed this with later firmwares as the Asters I have don't seem to suffer the same problems. AB is best turned off if you can and use the bare minimum you actually need, but as far as the Titans go, use better motors (I replaced mine with an ASG Ultimate CNC 28000 and it's been fine ever since).

  27. My mukker came down from Inverness to visit this weekend We had been playing paintball side by side since the early 90’s so have good comms and knowledge of what the other is going to do. I got him into Airsoft about 5 years ago, and have been playing again together when we get the chance, obviously being a 3 hour drive away from me is a hassle. So he came down and we visited Battle Zone just on the north side of Edinburgh. The first couple of warm up games showed issues with non hit takers, so a little extra “love” had to be sent to them to let them know to stick their hands up 😉 it continued into game 4 of the morning, then the marshals announced a zero tolerance for non hit taking, intending to drag the culprit out of the game and stop them playing the rest of the day. (A few of them are known repeat offenders apparently) This dramatically improved the game play, funnily enough the offenders themselves stopped playing and sat and sulked in the safe zone until their parents/uber came to collect them at the end of the day. With the knobber’s no longer interested in playing, the sportsmanship massively enhanced, the games were superb, and my chum and I were on top form and worked like a proper small unit. (propaby helped by watching 13 hours - secret soldiers of Benghazi at 5:30 am before leaving for a proper buffet breakfast on the way to the site 😁) Only one technical issue for me was my shots half way through the day started going haywire, had a Quick Look whilst under fire and somehow I was experiencing Muzzle Strike on my supressor (QD Angry Gun Surefire clone) So off it came, and my accuracy was restored. Cracking day, finished off with a lovely Chinese take away. Im hurting today, back & legs and woke up with a stinking sore head proving that I’m still not taking in enough fluids . Silly boy! But showed some of the kids that two duffers in their 50’s can still keep it up with them 😄

  28. Mixed morning at Driver Wood yesterday - they were trialling a new game format, including roaming spawns (marshall with a flag acting as the spawn point, and moving around behind the action). I’m a great fan of roaming spawns - they are a good solution to allowing the use of a large playing area, without the trek back to spawn becoming so lengthy that it encourages cheating or is just outright tedious. The game involved a team trying to get a stretcher to a number of different objectives in a set sequence, the other team defending those objectives. First game we were ‘defending’, second game, attacking with the stretcher. I opted to run the AAP carbine in the first game - built up using a TTI kit, with a 21cm inner barrel, and running on HPA via an Airtac MP5 magazine adapter. It didn’t start well, with the obligatory pre-game test shots sending the charging handle extension flying over my shoulder and my discovery that the outer barrel was wobbly! Throughout the game, I was needing to constantly re-zero the gun, not by adjusting the sight, but by nudging the alignment of the outer barrel within the handguard. Madness. Still, it gives me an excuse to strip the carbine down to pop a longer inner barrel (circa 300mm) so that I can reduce the HPA pressure to create less wear and tear (and this time use a bit more threadlock when I re-assemble…). Aside from gun troubles, the first game was a bit of an annoying game of attrition, with our team somewhat static, and lacking the motivation to push hard, despite the spawn only being a short distance behind us. Second game we swapped roles, and this time I opted to take the L96 and MK23 - both of which performed superbly, with plenty of pleasingly long range hits with the sniper rifle, and much more mobile game play from both sides for some reason. Also, re-affirming my view that a good ghillie head and shoulders aka viper hood is in 80% of cases as effective as a full ghillie suit, without the heat and hassle. And for once, the weather was great!

  31. Couple of new pieces have turned up. First is my mostly real steel MG3 build. Its off getting HPA'd right now, then back to me for some more airsoft to real steel conversion. Next, my G27K build is pretty much done. Still testing out the new EPM-1S midcaps, but so far 170 rounds in a 417 is so nice. Finally, work on my MG4 is nearing completion. Is anyone else noticing a trend here?... Still working on the custom MG4 optic, but its essentially done - just got to get it printed in a stronger format.

Group shot of the Marui MP5 NGRS collection. Gots the A4, A5, SD6 and put together an SD5 (made from a next Gen A4 and SD6). Other Mp5 is kitted out with Magpul stuff. Finally done buying these things. 😂 edit: vfc flashlight handguard had a slight front/back play which is annoying as the hole for the pin is oblong-ish. I removed the two strips of plastic to allow for battery space for mounting it on the A5. I cut a small piece from those plastic pieces and glued it at the back of the rear tab (which hook into the upper receiver). No more front-rear play anymore. No creaking. I now use the stock push pin instead of the locking pin that came with my Magpul SL handguard for the mp5.

Magpul stock and handguard along with the M-SL type lower from Japan. Front and rear flip up sights are Magpul MBUS Pro’s. Magpul M-Lok Cantilever mount for the Scout light. Have a rear QD sling pin from HKparts. PTS muzzle and Laylax HK Mode-2 silencer towards the pointy end. chopped down ZCI 100 spring installed. ~325 FPS with .20g bbs/ ~275 FPS with .25g bbs. All else are standard parts. Per the description from impulse101, no mods were required to install the lower. However, on my unit….I opted to sand down less than 0.5mm off of the left side selector lever to create better clearance. The selector would have probably functioned fine without shaving some material down. I ordered another one for one of my SD6’s. I’ll see how that install goes.
