  2. Bought a clone Trijicon SRS site from @rocketdogbert yesterday. (lovely bloke to deal with) 👍 Fitted it on my LVOA earlier and to say I'm over the moon with it, is an understatement! Can't wait to get out and zero it, and try it out in game! Excuse the crappy photos, but I'm in a rush on my lunch break...

  3. Ladies & Gents, as it has been suggested by several people and requested several times recently, I have decided to create a new Quick Questions thread. We have two threads previously like this, but I've decided to make a new one with a little more structure. When you ask a question please do so using red writing that way, it's easy for people scrolling down to find a question. When you answer a question, please quote (this will make sure the person gets a notification and they can click on it to open your answer straight away and it also lets people answer questions from a while ago if there have been new questions since then) the question and reply in blue writing so we know it's an answer. If you feel a question simply cannot be answered in one brief post, or is open for a lot of debate, create a thread to discuss it, and link the thread in your answer so everyone can find it. This should keep it clear what's what. Thread will be periodically preened and cleaned, and I may, if the whim takes me, create a section in this post with all the questions and the best answers in expandable boxes so everyone can see them forever and ever and ever. If your question or answer don't follow the requested template, I will either fix them if I like you, or delete them if I don't because no-one should have any difficulty getting it right after the first couple of attempts. Here's an example of how I want this to look: ====================================================================== Hi everyone, what am best gnu? ====================================================================== Best gnu am banana. ====================================================================== Go wild kids.

  4. Just a thought - I think UKARA becomes relevant for internet sales more than shop sales. It's an easy way for you to show the shop that there is a defence for them to sell to you, without them having to know you or anything about you. In my two local shops, they know me and they don't ask for a defence.

  8. Nobody needs anything to buy or attempt to buy a RIF. Go and speak to the local airsoft shop.

  9. You'll probably find if you end up causing enough of an issue that the police are involved (i.e you hold up the local Lidl) you'll get fucked with the full force of the Firearms act and they'll try and pin a section 5 offence on you (and rightly so) which doesn't really help my 'toy' case, but that's just due to the way that they look and the fear they'll cause your nan. Deal.

  10. You finding a manufacturer/supplier with a 'not a toy' warning doesn't make them not a toy in the eyes of the law. They shoot little bits of plastic, they also can be two toned so you don't even need a defence to buy one! The only thing that falls under 'the eyes of the law' is the fact SOME look like realistic firearms, and that's just to do with the way they look, not the fact they shoot little bits of plastic. Are you just trying to deny them being toys to make it seem like you don't run about in the woods of a weekend shooting toy guns at people? 😂😂

  11. Well, tbf, they could have a BB gun that fires 4.5mm steel BBs if they can prove they're over 18. They just can't have a BB gun that fires 6mm plastic BBs, that's a realistic imitation of a firearm - unless they have a defence as described in the addendum to the VCRA (or whichever bit of legal stuff is relevant). I don't think logic comes into it anywhere, unfortunately...

  14. Suppressors for airsoft is a complex subject, but if you are willing to trust me (as a professional sound engineer), your best bet is not to fill the tube with foam, but rather to create expansion chambers inside your suppressor. There is also a legal issue which is that in the UK it is illegal to create something which is intended to reduce the report of a firearm. For our purposes then, whatever you use internally must fail the first time a real bullet was fired through it. If you don't want to go all sound nerd on it and build your own internals, the best way forward is a suppressor which has just 3 foam rings inside, so long as they are prevented from moving down the inside of the tube - this is surprisingly effective. The way to make it better is to remove the spring which holds the foam in place and create baffles with holes as tight as possible, which still allow the BB to pass through (bearing in mind that the BB has a tendency to rise as soon as it is free of the inner barrel). The baffles must not slip inside, but if they are made from something which is flexible, that flex is a means of absorbing a bit more sound energy than something stiff would. Something to take note of however is that most of the noise AEG's or BASR's make is radiated directly out through the sides of the receiver, not down the barrel. I'm not sure if this is also the case for GBB's and GBBR's, but i suspect that the 'bolt' does make more noise than the pressure wave from the muzzle.
