Morale Patch
djben9 and 2 others reacted to SixFourHundred for a topic
The truth and nothing else but the truth. I was an Army photographer - I love taking photographs. I attended my first Airsoft game last year (Combat South Charity Event) and offered all the photographs to the organisers for free, to do what ever they wanted with them. A lot of players asked if they could get copies of the photographs so I pointed them to my Facebook page where they can copy them as much as they like, some of the players emailed me to say that the print quality wasn't very good. (web images are only 72 DPI and print images are 300 DPI) so I set up the SmugMug site so they can buy them. I am a professional photographer with overheads, fuel, insurance, web hosting let alone the cost of the gear.3 points -
Regarding the lower mesh mask, I bought some single-sided foam (like the anti-draft stuff you get for doors but much thinner) and put it at the top where the bridge is. That helped a lot. I'm not sure why companies don't just do that and make a rubberised one where it rests on your nose and also further to the sides. I know there are those ones on Firesupport that have fabric on, but they look like they'd get in the way of your nose more than they'd help with comfort. As for gum shields, I've owned a lot of different ones over time and frankly the fitted ones are far more comfortable (granted you forget you really have on in after 5 minutes) but primarily they're good as they don't like to fall out half as easily as the 'boil and bite' ones. I never wear one during games though because I generally can't stand them, and also it doesn't stop that BB hitting your lips or flying into your mouth. I've seen people using them though so it must be viable.3 points

The infamous goggle fogging !
Lozart and 2 others reacted to SgtTalbert for a topic
I get what you are saying...However, I don't put a price on my eye sight...PLUS when I'm playing airsoft...I don't want my game play to be hindered by fogging goggles. I see you have a recoil, as do I, which we both know was more than £112. I personally would get frustrated by the fact that my £400 rifle is not getting used in game as it should because I cannot see. What I am more annoyed about is the fact I probably spent £50-60 on different glasses all preaching they don't fog before buying those goggles I am not trying to start a debate or argument - What people spend on their kit is their business, i just felt considering the comment, i would reply3 points -
The Daytona Build
proffrink and one other reacted to LordGeorge for a topic
Hey all I have been dipping in and out of different threads looking for help with various issues. Thankyou all that have been involved so far, proffrink has been a god ! Thanks dude. But issues aside, i though i would open a dedicated thread purely for my new build which not many people seem to have covered. Building a daytona HPA setup! I plan to go though the stages from start to finish, so anyone who plans on doing it can turn and cry at the expense of the setup or jizz and go for it. Currently i am in the plan and order stage, if anyone has any questions or wants a readup on kit etc, take a look at my other thread below. http://www.airsoft-forums.co.uk/index.php/topic/27984-hpa-setup-questions/ Ok so what do i have and plan to have. Already own. We hk416D Gbb Redline firebase regulator guerrilla 100ci 4500psi tank redline 42" widebore w/single QD Yoke fill station 232 bar 12 litre scuba tank Tech-T Gun sav "lube" CQB russian WE adapter "For fun until TNK comes" 2.5L hydration backpack "Hopefully big enough" Order list TNK Daytona kit TNK spares IGL 300 bar 12 litre scuba AEG flash mags The Daytona kit and spares is already queued up with Tony over at TNKGUNS ready for order once monies let me. IGL and mags will just come as and when suites, and finally the plan is to sell the 232 bar and buy a 300 to take full advantage of that momma of a 100/4500 tank! I plan to post every stage from kit arrival and pics, to building and modifications made "if needed". So for now, sit tight and wait for the toys to flow in . Cheers George2 points -

Morale Patch

That's cool, and it's an alright write-up (certainly with a lot of information I didn't know) but of course we're going to comment on the other bit if it's linked at the bottom there. I'm really more curious about the photography aspect though. Do you pay site owners to attend or is there an exchange like they get the photos for their Facebooks pages etc. I mean this genuinely - I've seen a lot of people taking photos but usually they're a marshal or something that works more permanently at the site.1 point -

Proffrink - Players are informed that photographers will be attending the site, some ask not to have photographs taken for personal security reasons (serving soldiers) But your missing the point - the post is about the blog. The History of Morale Patches.1 point -

Talking as a rugby player here, DO NOT BUY THE CHEAPO SPORTS DIRECT ONES, they're made from such a cheap material your "moulding" barely makes a difference and it will fall out the second you open your gob. Don't have much experience with more expensive boil and bite mouthguards but if you're desperate for a mouthguard (not sure why you would be ) get a fitted one from an orthodontist/dentist so you can actually speak, should be really comfy so you forget about it after 5 mins and it doesn't fall out !1 point

Teeth protection....
Airsoft_Mr B reacted to Colonel Kurtz for a topic
Lower mesh often/usually requires some bespoke modification to fit comfortably. I second proffrinks suggestion of padding rather than just using a gum shield, especially as gum shields are probably more irritating to wear and you'll only be able to talk like a gimp. Gum shield might keep your teeth in but will just split your lip instead if you take a bb to the mouth (seen it happen, dude decided on the spot he was going back to mesh lol) Always worth spending bit of time to modify a mesh lower rather than not bother.1 point -

Krytac CRB review/initial impressions
Sappysid101 reacted to dex for a topic
So - after skirmishing the CRB for the first time on Sunday - some conclusions: - It performed very well, the hop unit/rubber in particular impressed with good range and consistent groupings. - The SHS HT motor produced a high ROF on auto with an 11.1 lipo (expected - I've used this combination before) with no feeding issues. Although after a couple of hundred rounds it did start to double fire due to overspin (perhaps they were right to ship it with a weaker stock motor). This will be cured with the addition of a Jefftron programmable mosfet, just ordered off the back of a recommendation from a friend. - Nothing bad to report really. Pretty pleased.1 point -
The infamous goggle fogging !
SgtTalbert reacted to Jedi_Master for a topic
I agree with you. Fogging ruins play. Also eyesight is priceless, which has put me off the low cost glasses option as I am not convinced on the ballistic protection offered. Having purchased several different pairs of goggles and still experiencing fogging (although have not tried cat crap, etc) moved on to paintball mask which works very well, and no suprises starts to hit the £100 mark. I can see myself adding the Desert Locust to my kit.1 point -
A single flash mag might make sense for the break in process though proffrink1 point

Sitting Duck reacted to Samurai for a topic
It's a multiplier to show how big current the battery can supply. Usually there are 2 of these: 30C / 15C or 50C / 25C, etc. The first shows how big current it can supply for a short period of time (burst rate). Meaning seconds. The second is how much it can supply continuously. So on the trigger pull you get an impulse of high current that levels to the lower value in a few seconds. The value itself is a multiplier to the capacity of the battery. So an 1000mAh battery with 20C rating gives 20x1000mA = 20A. An 1500mAh with 30C gives 45A. Normal AEGs use about 15-20A. If you have a battery that can't supply the needed current, the ROF will be lower, or the motor won't even be able to move the gears. (Because in this case the voltage drops, hence the beeping lipo guards on firing.) High torque motors, powerful springs may need currents above 100 Amps. The more powerful your setup is, the more current it needs.1 point -

Quick Questions & Simple Answers.
nubQCprsn reacted to Zak Da Mack for a topic
If you really want to change the FPS, buy a gun with a quick change spring system. But personally, I think you're overcomplicating it. Don't dive straight into the deep end and buy a relatively simple and easy to use gun (check out Ian Gere's beginner guide). All FPS really does is change the time it takes to hit the target. Accuracy and range is more affected by the barrel size and the hop-up. 300 FPS is a good start, you don't really need any more as the benefits will be negligible and will allow to shoot people without hurting them as much1 point -
Doesn't really matter. FPS is not the main factor if you can shoot people or not. In fact, it contributes far less than you think.1 point

UA is 328 and its classed as CQB, im looking at the ICS CXP UK1 as i like the idea of easy swap parts......just no one at time of posting i have found has the upper parts in stock...yet! Then id only need one to take it to 350 for the other sites i plan to go to....and swap out as needed. 300 sounds nice but i guess that's only ideal for indoor only sites???1 point

Used BBs for sale
SeniorSpaz87 reacted to Jedi_Master for a topic
In a time of austerity the airsoft community needs to take the hit as well and do what it can to help. Having seen the sheer number of used BBs just lying unwanted on the ground I have decided to start collecting them up and will selling bottles of used BBs at discounted prices. Each bottle will contain genuine used BBs in a variety colours and weights from all major and minor manufacturers. Unlimited stock levels for one additional free bottle with each order just quote you UKARA license number. Key advantages as follows: Colour mix - great for confusing the opposition team into thinking there are more players shooting at them because of all the different colours. Tracer BBs included at no extra cost. Hassle free hop set-up - mixed weights will mean that there will always be some BBs in each bottle perfectly suited to your gun, simples. Aerodynamic performance - some BBs may have small dents and dimples just like golf balls and so they will fly further and faster than smooth BBs! Environmentally friendly - used BBs save the planet's plastic resources and is an example of true recycling (supported by European Green parties). Nearly new condition - used BBs are almost as good as new ones, having only been fired once so mint condition, a real bargain. Proven track record - used BBs have already been fired which proves that they are fully working. So, if you want to receive your bottle of used BBs (as well as help save the environment and do your bit for austerity) then click the LIKE button. [Note: if you think this is a serious thread, then please read it again, and reset your sarcasm filter. ]1 point -
I've played at Norwich once and it's quite a nice site. I live close to Tuddenham though so go there the most. There are 12 buildings in the village and then across from that there are tyre forts and pallet boxes with a ridgeline to hide behind which leads up to the squash court then the safe zone. On the other side there is the woodland area with different littles bits in. Games are usually fun and have some good storylines to them. Give them a go and see what you think? They are running a milsim at two Norwich sites a bit later in the year. Booking open now and details on their forum.1 point
