Did I do the right thing?
clumpyedge and 5 others reacted to jcheeseright for a topic
I personally side 100% with the OP here, if the sniper is inside MED then he cannot fire for reasons of safety, fair enough. I'm not going to EVER take a 'bang' kill from someone more than 5 metres away, certainly not 30 metres. There's absolutely zero guarantee he'd have hit his target at that range; I have seen some properly speshul shooting from airsofters who are shouting 'take your hits' while the overhopping BBs are chopping through leaves 5metres above me. If you want to play the sniper role in airsoft (which is a game, with rules) then you either accept that you're unable to engage within 30 metres or you buy a secondary weapon without an MED. Personally I disagree with the bang rule entirely and believe it's a crossover from the states where they play with much higher FPS limits than the UK. I regularly play CQB in a site where the longest possible sightline is about 20 metres and engagements often happen at corners with distances less than 2-3 metres; does anyone complain about 'bang kills' etc, no, they don't. Because 328-350 FPS isn't dangerous even at point blank, it just stings a bit. The bang rule is bullshit and common courtesy is what's required, if you're up close clearly it's not cool to light someone up on full auto, but to point your gun at them and say "bang bang" is just sad, we're not playing cowboys and indians in a primary school playground.6 points -

So it has been brought to my attention that their are a number of people which believe that I am now a Dishonest member of the airsoft community and UKARA but the steps taken were no different to what an investigative journalist would do. Also a quote has been made to me which I will put to the public and them to make their own minds up. Is it wrong for the police to act as a child on web chats to catch Pedos !!!!!!2 points -
Thought on Bunker 51 & The Mall, please?
Lozart reacted to Black Death for a topic
I've not tried bunker51 but I have visited the mall. Overall it's a good site and I can appreciate why it has won awards. It's quite large as sites go and the layout is brilliant. The guys that run it seem very nice which makes it all the harder to criticise it BUT I had one main frustration from my experience which was the lack of lighting. Yes most sites (especially cqb) will have dark areas and in some sites absolute pitch black but the mall just has too many areas like this. A little bit of this makes for exciting variance but too much of it means it encourages too many choking points and at times spray and pray type gameplay. I felt the fluidity was definitely reduced by stumbling blindly around where more running and fighting could have commenced. On a more positive note, the terminator game mode is absolutely fucking AWESOME! If you haven't seen it before a guy dresses up as terminator and will take hundreds of bbs before he goes down for 30 seconds or so. He fights back with a fully auto support weapon which feels like being shot at by an entire team at once. If you can get down to the site then do so. In my honest opinion it's not the best ever site but it's very far from the worst either1 point -

Your attitude is spot on both with regards to MED and bang rule I'm a true believer in that if you have a problem getting hit point blank (single shot) then you should stick to posing with airsoft guns instead of playing with them. If you are a bit of a jitterish person than cqb is defo not for you. Strangely when I play airsoft I do see a lot of people who hang back a bit away from the front line/entry team on doorways obviously afraid of getting lit up. These people tend to have masses of protective gear on and still worry. The strange thing is, if you let a mate shoot a couple of times point blank it will hurt but then you get over that fear. You will enjoy airsoft ten times more after that with your new found bravery and freedom. Getting hit point blank at airsoft should be as expected and enjoyed as much as getting wet going swimming or getting muddy playing football. We need to take the 'soft' out of airsoft lol1 point -
G&G GR16 8.4v or 9.6v
Airsoft_Mr B reacted to ronin677 for a topic
Hi Guys, I am fairly new to the whole airsoft scene and have recently bought a second hand G&G GR16. I am really happy with this rifle. However I am about to buy a battery for it. My question is do I use a 8.4v battery as I suspect is intended or do I use a 9.6v as someone recently recommended. I am concerned that the 9.6v will wear my rifle out quicker. I am asking here as I am sure some of you will have come across this issue before many thanks Jon1 point -

Ack, didn't notice I'd used the word. I've made that exact response myself, Nick. Looks like you caught me red-handed in the act of being a hypocrit! There is a negative there that I was trying to point out despite lacking the vocabulary, though. God knows it's not always easy to remember /it's just a game/ when tempers get heated, but actively training your group to cheat in order to win.. It's just... Desperate? Making a pre-meditated decision - in cold blood - to be unscrupulous (in a just-for-fun game, what's more!), I'd say that is trying hard in all the wrong ways!1 point

Disappointment with G&P SR25 DMR

It might have the same issue as RealSword guns- The hop up rubber needs 'breaking in' Since the rubber used is very hard and there might be excess rubber left after casting. Solution is to shoot it as much as possible.1 point -

Wow - welcome to Airsoft PhD physics & chemistry for trigger happy students Think many things have a bit ore ooomphhh at first - getting really techy here with the terms... When Batteries come straight off of charge they often have a bit more voltage in them for a very short time.... Putting a test meter on a 9.9v life straight after taking it off charge was showing nearer 11v than 10v But it was steadily decreasing on the meter by 0.01v and seemed to settle at about 10.08v so then I said forget the observations and poxy study test crap - lets start shooting ffs1 point -

G&G GR16 8.4v or 9.6v
Airsoft_Mr B reacted to Unrustle_Thine_Jimmies for a topic
All decent airsoft guns can handle 9.6v NiMH batteries stock, even a TM FAMAS from 1990. 9.6 NiMH batteries give much better ROF and trigger response than 8.4v batteries. Make sure to get a good smart charger as well. You can also go for a LiFE or Lipo battery,7.4v 25c lipo is ideal,Dualsky is a good brand, you can find them in most RC shops. Make sure to get a smart Lipo balance charger too,and do some research on safe Lipo use as they are not as tolerant to abuse as NiMH batteries but the performance gain is so much worth it. Similar with LiFE. Most come in 9.9V,bridging the gap between a 7.4v and 11.1v lipo. They are bit more tolerant to abuse but still require a LiFE balance charger . again, make sure discharge rate is 25c or below since above you will need a MOSFET to protect the gun;s electrics for long term use.1 point -

Anyway back on track, don't want to ruin the thread with arguments, that's why you have private messages ladies! +1 for the CYMA cm045 and 048 series. Brilliant starters if you are looking for an alternative to the M4 which everyone has these days. However they are a little difficult to find but you can get them nice and cheap from the Polish shops, Taiwan Gun and Gunfire. They may be a little hot aswell but once you get it sorted it will last you for years and the performance is punching well above its price range!1 point -

clumpyedge reacted to Mack for a topic
Personally I would have taken it. The whole reason I got into airsoft rather than paintball is the realisim. Realistic weapons, realistic scenarios, the gear and tactics we try to emulate. In real life guns don't run on batteries or vent gas when it's cold I know other people play for different reasons so really both sides have a point.1 point -
Did I do the right thing?
Airsoft_Mr B reacted to Deej for a topic
I love seeing threads like this. People being genuinely honourable in this our game of honour. I personally don't put much stead in the bang kill rule, I think it's a cop-out and I'd rather everyone be prepared to take a few nasty dings every now and again; especially when AEG FPS limits and general safety rules mean you should be adequately protected from lasting harm anyway. On the one hand you probably should have taken the hit to be truly sporting - as people have said, if he totally had you then it was his good courtesy that got him killed, which sucks for him.. BUT: Snipers have MEDs. Even on a no-bang-kill site, airsoft snipers don't get the luxury of playing doctor ('Injecting' you). If the man plays sniper - and clearly knows his MEDS hence this situation - then he should also know he needs a pistol or such for CQC work. What happened here is a learning experience for him, he likely has gone from thinking 'I might need a secondary at some point', to KNOWING 'if I had a secondary, I wouldn't have died there.' You are likely the catalyst for his becoming a better player. Maybe next time he'll pistol you and you'll never get the chance to wonder this.1 point -

Whilst that statement is true, airsoft and real world is quite different (mainly based on safety). Minding safety doesn't make you nice or a good player... It's the RULES! The OP played by the rules and came out on top. His opponent could have chosen an easy fix but for whatever reason couldn't be bothered to pack a £6 rubber knife! I would have taken the hit if he tapped me with a banana. At least it's a pointy object lol. 'Take your hit' is just plain lazy1 point -
He didn't shoot you. Not because sniper weapons can't hit you that close, but because he was minding your safety. It's only fair to respect not only this, but that he was better than you and he got you by surprise. And yes, he should have had a secondary.1 point

BRITISH AIRSOFT CLUB ANNOUNCEMENT.....

Con, I'm not entirely sure why you are a 'rep' for the BAC as you are so out of tune with what they have actually done and are currently doing. I highly doubt they are putting money in your pocket but they are 100% feeding you (and perhaps even themselves) absolute bullshit and you're lapping it up. Quite frankly mate, this is going to rub off on you – in fact it already has. The BAC is the brainchild of two desperate people that have zero prior experience in anything related, They've been winging it from day dot and have been lucky up until now. Save yourself looking like a complete moron. Quit.1 point -

That vid is awesome! It's odd because everyone plays cod/battlefield like that but when they play airsoft they are much more reserved/reluctant. I can only assume people can be a bit jitterish with the thought of getting hit close up. I love this style of aggressive play because you get a lot of scores and it's much more fun then sat hiding waiting to be hit. I recently aquired two desert eagles and oddly I get a lot more kills with them then when I play with my scar h. Yes you do get lit up badly when you get it wrong but that's part of the fun of the game1 point -
Well I have as asked for a refund on my own actual membership with them only for them to say NO as with the cost incurred of administration they couldn't do a refund. BRITISH AIRSOFT CLUB ANNOUNCEMENT.....
Rapid reacted to fivezerothree for a topic
A few things have come of this realisation; they don't have the facilities to check or verify anything. In fact they rely solely on UKARA defectors and Skirmish Sites to verify their site membership/regular skirmish attendance. So basically the BAC does nothing other than charge you and give you a plastic bloody card as all the work is already done for them. In super short, if you are eligible to become BAC 'verified' – you already have a defense and can save yourself the £8 a year.1 point -
are you serious dude. Im a guy you have ti show your card to buy shit and its a girl also the emails sent are irrelevant to this only their reply my ukara email isn't going to have MY details is.1 point

So after all the messages that have been posted here it is, its not even exciting it's just they could ruin airsoft for us all if they continue. So most of you have heard of BAC and if you go on their website it talks to talks and appears to walk the walk. So I applied to membership and it was accepted but all seemed to be done a little to fast. Which got me thinking that considering that amount of checks they claim to make it was all a lilttle fast so I made her up. BELOW Completely fake not even a real person, submitted an application and sent a completely fake ukara email over to which contained a site that isn't even active nor has anyone played on it for a year or more and hasn't been UKARA for 2 yrs. so NO WAY should a defense been accepted for this person not if all their checks were done as they claim they are but OH SHITE BAG I received this...... ACCEPTED. pay my subscription and membership card will be in the post WOW. what a joke. now some of you may say well what you have done is wrong and out of order but if i can do this being an HONEST AIRSOFT PLAYER then what's stopping a thug from doing this and then being able to buy RIF's for illegal purposes. Now you might also ask why a girl well that's to prove I have NO intension of using this nor am i going to pay for this either. So i put it to everyone. There checks are poor, they validate anyone and take all info you as GOLD AND HONEST but lets face it there's more than a fair share of people out there that simply aren't HONEST. UKARA alternative my ARSE.1 point

I'm never going to wear any eyepro that isn't full seal ever again. I find it amazing that people shy away from mesh because tiny fragments may get through (and for the sake of discussion forget the physics involved, because many people will not understand the simplest science, purely because it is science so they just switch off) but cheerfully wear lenses with gaps around the edges that whole BB's can fit through, nevermind the size of shattered fragment which could ricochet up off a gun or mask. Literally amazing1 point
