Exercises for Airsoft

For those of us that unfortunately have left our teens behind its still something to think about. For a while know ive been doing high intensity training. First, you warm up for a couple of minutes with some gentle cycling: then you cycle as fast as you possibly can ("hell for leather", as Mosley describes it) for 20 seconds. Then, you cycle gently again for a couple of minutes while you catch your breath, then do another 20 seconds "flat out". Then, for a final time, two minutes gentle cycling to catch your breath, followed the third period of 20 seconds at "full throttle". I did it just to see if it had any benefits after seeing it on horizon and remarkbly with that little exercise I've seen an improvement. Since then ive done the couch to 5k.2 points -

I dunno, when I was Teos age I did rugby training 3 times a week, including a match nearly every weekend, ten tors, sailing and various other stupid activities. I was constantly a bit sore and I really knew about it the day after a match but no part of me suffered any permanent damage. Teenagers are near indestructible, as long as he doesn't start thinking that a 100Kg benchpress is his minimum required standard he'll be fine!2 points -

I think it shows that a Plate Carrier is there as a bit of 'Fancy Dress' and no one needs to wear one for Airsoft.2 points -
For future reference for anyone reading this thread (and honestly not to piss on your chips BrightCandle) people really need to stop paying high street opticians their ridiculous prices. I got mine done by the guy at http://www.specs-by-post.com a few years back. I must have sent at least a dozen people his way since then too. He'll glaze inserts like this to your prescription for about £12.1 point

Sure Ian, I'd gladly have you down as a V3 reviewer :-) AK's don't get enough loving.... It will probably be motors, gears, pistons and cylinders in regard to seeing how well they work in 3rd party gearboxes etc. I'll be sure to keep you informed.1 point

If you don't have a bike, get one and start using it to go everywhere instead of motor transport. You'll soon be fit. When I was your age I used to do a 3 mile paper round starting with 2 satchels of papers, then ride to school about 3 miles. I could never eat breakfast once I hit puberty (usually still can't) so the upshot for my body was that I couldn't put an ounce of fat on - whatever was excess calories from what I'd eaten the day before was converted to glycogen by my liver, but before being converted to fat, converted back again to glucose to power my mornings. I used to ride home and do an even longer paper round then (I had to call back to the shop for 1/2 the papers because they wouldn't fit in 2 satchels and trying to ride with more than 2 was a major ballache). Now, TBH, I could pretty much hide behind a lamp post, but my musculature was very well toned. I too used to play rugby for my school and also sprint 100 & 200m for a local club, plus I'd play football with mates for hours at a time, or go swimming, or our own sports = cross between hide & seek / tag on bikes but you captured people and they could be released by uncaptured players (releasio) and team tennis on quad skates, played on a length of street about 80m long and the subject of many disputes since there was no net, oh yeah and fighting - there was fuck all else to do! I only found out about the glycogen to and fro because I applied to the army at 16 (I was still riding a lot) and rejected on medical grounds due to protein in my piss. Turns out it's a normal side effect of running your body at peak efficiency, but by the time this was understood, mates of mine who joined up a year ahead of me were home on leave and they had become racist, sexist, big mouthed pricks, so I decided against the military... nevertheless, even though I didn't keep up sports much past about 17 the fitness stayed with me into my late 20's.1 point

Scar L or H?
baz-1988 reacted to CaptainDumbass for a topic
It depends on your style of play really If you're more of an open environment player (desert, woodland, etc) then probably the MK17 (Scar-H) as like TacMaster said, there's the potential to turn it (aesthetically) into a DMR as the H variant is chambered with 7.62's (usually used in DMR's) On the other hand if you're more of a CQB player then I would say the MK16 (Scar_L), I myself use one and I mostly use it for CQB because I can run it with the standard CQC barrel, a tracer unit, or a 5 inch barrel, it uses M4 mags so there is a wider and cheaper range of mags and mag pouches out there and i personally prefer the look of it to the H variant.1 point -

I don't think it's really worth using the dark footage, I might as well just turn my screen off and just listen to what's happening. You could try upping the exposure on the darker footage though, it'll make it grainy, but it'll also make use of what little light there is and make it possible to actually see... Potentially. I've fiddled about with exposure settings in a few of my videos and it really helps.1 point -

Exercises for Airsoft
Joshb1612 reacted to jcheeseright for a topic
if your plate carrier is too heavy take some stuff off it! exercise wise though, CORE: sit ups, plank, leg raises, side raises, tuck jumps, v-sits. Push ups and pull ups will help too, but to a lesser extent.1 point -
Best thing is just cardio maybe a bit more leg and shoulder strength and once you feel comfy just start carrying it whilst exercising (obviously without the RIFS . You'll want to make sure you are comfortable with it on, because the fatigue of things digging into shoulders can cause you to tire out a lot faster. What I tend to do is jog for a good 10 minutes and then move onto doing a 10 second sprint and then back to jogging pace for around 30 seconds and repeat as many times as your feel you can manage. 10 is a good starting point. It really comes down to 2 things every time. Fitness and weight of gear. Both of which are a pain in the arse really1 point

I'm in no real rush at the minute, so I can wait until I find the parts I need. It's more of a little side challenge to build one. I've learned so much techy stuff I would have been scared to try had I spent loads of money on a new AEG. I too am enjoying just messing about with it and if I get it to a usable point I know I will love it like a child.1 point

There is a delayer on the sector gear but its a small baring rather than a chip. I'I've hdd some encouraging results today using modified shark rubber and thread locking the barrel in place in the hop unit. Firing through the inner barrel when not installed in the outer provides fantastically consistent results, however when the whole gun is assembled I sometimes get 1 BB per 2 pulls of the trigger. Occasionally BBs roll out of the barrel and in full auto I have noticed that sometimes when burst firing one third of BBs fly straight for 30+ yards another third spin high and left at 20yrds and a third drop left. She is 40 - 50% consistent over the last 1000 BBs I have managed to fire, so a big improvement on a few shattered fragments!1 point

So you don't mean a 'milsim' loadout you mean an 'Impression'? To me a 'Milsim' Loadout would be one used for taking part in a Milsim. That would be one that reflected the needs of a real battlefield.1 point -

Glad it all worked out for you. Those were my very last SHS High Speed gears as well! :-) Trying to get in touch with SHS for re-order but they are an absolute nightmare! Never return emails, never send the correct stock..... They seriously lack any customer support, guessing they are just busy and push the smaller orders to the bottom of the pile.1 point -
Just don't blame me if it breaks down again Although it was my fault the piston was not seated properly.1 point

Cropzy here again. Here is how I made my gun case. I purchased one of these of off Fleabay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/271152550770?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649 Now they are old and have been stored outside since the 90's so they have a little rust on them. The case itself is quite heavy being an army surplus ammo crate. They are air tight and water tight and the locks are very tough and hard to lock. Mine came with the original inserts for the munitions it once held, which are certainly bigger than 50 cal. I took the lid and give it a scrub down with a wire brush to get rid of all of the loose rust and then did the same to the case itself. I then took the lid and painted it with some green Hammerite we had laying around, this is so that the lid is protected from rust and rain etc for the future. After it had dried. I then started looking at foam to put in it, I figured most gun cases have egg box style foam in so I bought a sheet of it measuring 2m L x 2m W x 3mm H and cut it to size in 3 pieces. 1 for the bottom and lengthways sides. Then the other 2 for the other sides. I then purchased some spray glue (carpet adhesive) and sprayed the inside and fitted the foam and then let it dry. The final product turned out quite well, its not as good as a professional but it will do!1 point

Impression Loadouts - UKSF, SEAL, Ranger, SADF, Etc, Etc...
Airsoft-Ed reacted to M_P for a topic
TBH i'd consider loadouts close to the real thing to be impression loadouts rather than milsim ones- that suggests that everyone at a milsim wears impressions of real life forces which isn't the case. Still a good idea for a thread though.1 point -

armysurplusandtoys reacted to Nickona for a topic
A milsim loadout if basically a highly realistic interpretation of a real world loadout. The very odd bit might be slightly incorrect but on the whole it clearly respembles a real modern or historical fighting force. It is basically borderline living history IE.. having a full MTP kit with Mk.IV rig, Mk.VII helmet and Aghan spec SA80 would be considered milsim but if you just had MTP with a baseball cap, WAS chest rig and a G36 it wouldn't be considered a milsim loadout as it is not close enough to the real thing... Basically this is a thread for loadouts what are based on specific forces rather than just random skirmish kit or airsoft team kit.. If someone has a Milsim loadout they know they do as they'll have spend a lot of time and money putting it together I might as well get this kicked off with my classic Angolan Bush War Executive Outcomes Mercenary. This is its older set up and a part WIP.. I've got more more region specific kit on way from SA (I'll upload my other African kits once I get some decent pics) Kit List: French Para Lizard bush hat (SoF repro) Portuguese lizard Shirt Scrim scarf SADF M83 battle jacket Patt 58 poncho Kenyan Maasai knife Patt 58 OD trousers1 point -
