Buying a gun with a friends UKARA defence?
DX115FALCON and one other reacted to AirsoftTed for a topic
I dont think that last bit is correct. Its the purchasing that is the offence, ownership is perfectly legal and requires no defense. Regardless, many law officials have announced the VCRA un-enforcable and most officers won't have the first clue what airsoft is let alone the laws regarding it. As long as he's using the RIF for airsoft and airsoft only I dont see why any police would get involved or know he even owns it lol.2 points -

Get the Tokarev Ian... You know you want to... I have convinced myself to get one since you rarely see them at £80. Update: I actually have just purchased one through redwolf plus an actual Tokarev surplus leather holster from eBay. My new toy should be here by Friday haha2 points

Buying a gun with a friends UKARA defence?
Airsoft_Mr B reacted to CaptainDumbass for a topic
Technically yes, but he would be the owner of it and he would have to keep it at his house, and only lend it to you on skirmishes. If you ever got caught with an RIF apart from at skirmishes (sometimes even at skirmishes) and cant provide a defense, you're gunna get f***ed by the long dick of the law!1 point -

I do want to. I just rang them up for a beat around the haggle bush. It's the mags. £30. Thirty fucking quid. For 11 rounds. They're not having it though, so no. How much did you pay for your holster? Just coughed up £88-odd for my PDI barrel. Heads up people: x-fire.org are having an easter free shipping sale woohoo! This. I bought a G&G top tech as a gun that I wouldn't mess around with that would work well out of the box. My "project" AEG is built from parts worth 2 or 3 times as much as the stock G&G and is a finicky beast. When it works its works its awesome, then I'll go mod something else and screw it all up1 point

Even Rolls Royces go wrong sometimes. Buying a more expensive brand SHOULD give you a higher chance of getting a better made/designed product but as you have become aware it's not a guarantee. The thing to look at though is the overall throughput versus the failure rate when judging a brand. If G&G for example are having an issue with some of their MOSFET units (I assume that the rest of the gun isn't falling apart as well) then obviously they have a QA problem with that specific part. The value in buying a decent brand is just as much in the after sales and how quickly they move to rectify the fault as it is in the actual product itself. Buying cheap and then spending time, effort and money to get to a point where the higher end products always are isn't always cost effective. It depends on how highly you value your time and whether or not airsoft teching is your thing. Having bought an old TM M4A1 and spent the time and effort (and money) to get it to where it is now pretty much as good as a gun I could have bought straight off the bat with the same total budget has taught me one thing - do it because you WANT to not because you think it'll be a cheaper way of getting a good gun.1 point

Got an interesting item off fleabay earlier: £4.99 posted / can't go wrong! Not sure I actually want a Docter sight on any of my AK's, but soonish I'll have one that is surplus to requirements, so maybe i'll stick it on there to sell. Just started the ball rolling on buying a PDI 6.01x595mm barrel from x-fire.org but they can't just sell you stuff like any normal webby; oh no, they're not content with the tortured Japanglish on their order page, they have to drag it all out by making you wait for a 2nd email with the shipping cost and their PayPal deets  I'm so tempted to buy a Tokarev too but I'll only regret it in 2 weeks when i have to choose between smoking and eating...1 point

Well before I think about the bicycle, I need to finish my WW2 loadout. Things I still want for that: Shoot and scoot Lee Enfield, Better Denison smock, Rubber bayonet and real bayonet (to get the scabbard), New helmet liner, chin strap and fixing bolts so thats a total of over £500 I'm also really tempted to do a WW2 Aussie loadout after the British Para (I just love the hat ).1 point

It's a criminal offense to paint one without a defense, however the law isn't really enforceable unless you were reported by some nosy dicker with an acute understanding of the VCRA. I suppose you could use a very worn 2 tone weapon at a skirmish, technically a 2 tone airsoft gun with a little bit of paint flaked off it is not 51% painted so it isn't really the legal definition of a 2 tone any more though so it doesn't really matter. ^no one will really care anyway1 point

Cheers. I wouldn't be too hesitant, when people talk about VFC GBBs in a negative sense they're referring to their rifle line (which itself has improved a lot in recent times apparently). The original VFC M&P9c has a pretty good reputation and has been around for some time, same story with the Stark Glocks which are pretty popular indeed. You don't see/hear about them as much here because they're not available in the UK, but the Stark G19 has probably the best all round reviews of any G19 from what I can see, heck likely in the top few in terms of all airsoft Glocks. The VFC line isn't TM I'll say that, they are cheaper and with metal slides which means they aren't as nice internally there's no denying it. But they're at least as good as the new WE stuff or KJW, if not slightly better.1 point

SV98 style Stock for my VSR 10 Gspec, based on the lighter early version stock, slightly slimmed down at the front too to save weight. I Was going to made it out of 3 glued planks of White Deal,I even planned to cut up a G3 steel hicap to either use as a dummy or some sneaky ammo storage, but I decided against the ammo store idea. Could have used the CNC wood router we have in school but unfortunately I had a Junior cert exam project to make. Had the drawing, measurements and all that craic done on some A2 paper which I promptly forgot about and lost. After using my VSR for some more games, and using the stock as a walking stick and a handlebar to stop me falling into a lake,I decided to stock was strong enough already and I did not need extra weight to lug about.1 point

Dream Project you've always wanted to finish/do but never done/started?
Airsoft-Ed reacted to AirsoftTed for a topic
Could you not buy a cheapy pair of hinges out the poundshop, some fibreglass filler out of halfords, apply it and then shape it to look correct mate? I aint got a clue what the hinges look like but if they're particular ones that might be of some help! Ian mate, I'm not familiar with the mortar shells but im assuming they're eletrically set off? If so, I think I remember reading about someone using a 9v battery, so I've come up with this (sorry if it comes across as patronising, you've probably already come up with it yourself but you never know!) The green bits are contacts to complete the circuit upon depressing the original firing button. I reckon with a bit of fibre glass and a dremel it might take you an afternoon or two at the very best? I'm aiming to fire nerfs and such via m203's so it's a bit hard to get it right without the fugly rod thing sticking about the back that everyone is happy with. I'm thinking of cutting a trap door in the top to breach load it, then have a spring loaded firing pin behind the shell which is connected to the firing button. Its a simple enough theory but I just need to think of and make A) A spring loaded firing pin, don't fancy adding that to my search history a way of recocking without having to add the ability to open up the whole damn thing. Probably deceptively simple but I can't really get to the bottom of it. I've also toyed with the idea of using a 9v to power a small hobby actuator but I think the time between firing button pressed and that fully extending to press the back of the '203 could be between 3-5 seconds which well its a bit useless really.1 point -

hi boyle, and welcome to airsoft. Most skirmishes usually involve two groups of people against each other to complete some sort of objective. You don't need to be in a team to play and I think most people are 'lone wolves'. If none of your friends want to come and play, just go down yourself and get stuck in. Most airsofters are friendly, so you shouldn't feel left out.1 point -
@TacMaster: thanks mate, that is a bit more likely *mentally pencils in for next spring* @FALCON: it's a Lawgiver, and to properly represent the real Judge Dread, the barrel must end in a bell-end-esque bulge. Have no misconceptions about him, Dread is the ultimate expression of fascism. He has elements of 'anti-hero', but the both subtle and overtly obvious comedy in his relentless, unthinking, brutality is the main stay of the character.1 point
