  1. Yep I think it should be up to the player. The actual long term damage from wearing glasses currently holds no more weight than wearing mesh and getting fragments of BB in your eye to the best of my knowledge. I was even talking about this to a chap that used to marshal at work and he said he is happy using glasses plus lower mesh for CQB. To be blunt no one really wants to blind, or permanently injure another player. Yet the far more common risk is getting your teeth smashed out and that seems like this is ok? I don't like the idea that I could knock someone's teeth out but I accept it and know that if it happened I would be massively apologetic, whilst knowing the blame lies with the victim. If I took permanent eye damage as a result of wearing glasses, it would be my fault. However it's massively unlikely and is a calculated risk on the wearer's(my) part. All I can say is that I've heard marshals on a brief say they've seen a person a week for the last 3 weeks get their teeth knocked out. I've not once heard anything of the kind about using eye protection, other than don't use the visor on a cheapo helmet as eye protection.
  2. I might be able to rustle up a couple of players Trigger. Can I let you know by the weekend as my mates are crap at getting back to me?
  3. Glad i'm not the only one that laughs whenever they see helmet world mentioned. I have been told on a number of occasions I am easily amused.
  4. One thing to keep in mind using hire guns is they normally(not always) range from knackered to just about shoots in a straight line. Whilst GBBRs don't suffer from motor noise, there is a big difference in sound between AEGs so it would be quite easy to think one sounds horrible whilst another sounds decent. Judging a hire gun against one that's been taken care of is a bit like judging a car based on driving one that's been thrashed and thinking that particular model is bad. I keep saying this but at the end of the day it's your choice/money so make an informed decision based off that. Electric and Gas both have their own advantages and disadvantages and that players all have their own preferences makes Airsoft more interesting. Whatever you choose, have fun and welcome to the forum.
  5. I've owned the TM P226 and currently HK45 and would recommend them both. I like the HK45 because I shoot pistols left handed and it has ambidextrous controls.
  6. I like German Para boots, they can be picked up for around £40 surplus in very good condition. As said, anything with good ankle support and preferably good grip should do the trick.
  7. What the guys have posted above pretty much covers it. One factor will be whether or not you are happy running a couple of high cap magazines, with the spare ones in your pockets. However this is something you will have to determine for yourself as it's largely down to playstyle plus how you want your loadout to look(e.g. jeans and a shirt or camo gear with a chest rig, the latter adding costs even if you pickup things on the cheaper end of the spectrum)
  8. The Krytac LMG enhanced looks pretty nice. Anyone used them?

I have indeed, it's lovely, range, accuracy and ROF out of the box are very very good, only bit that lets it down is the pistol grip, rest of the rifle is superbly made, pistol grip is the cheapest, nastiest plastic and shiny, bolt should have been made to lock back like the other krytac so but I'm working on that one, box mag seems to just hold more and more when filling, I have changed the front reciever pin to a G&P Magic pin as there was a little too much movement in the top r...

Have you had any issues with the box mag being loose? In one review I read that it was quite wobbly

It's a little wobbly but fed with no issues at all, I tried a P-mag in it too and that was as tight as in any of my other M4's I will try it today again and see how much movement there is for you mate

  9. The biggest issue they've demonstrated is not checking at all to see if a new member's details are legit. There was a lot of trying to pass to blame going around when they were called out on it, but the reality is any good system shouldn't allow people to blag their way into gaining membership. I tend not to get hugely invested into it, partly because i'm not affiliated with a retailer. However the common criticism of UKARA is that they have appreciable control over which shops can and can't sell RIFs. In practice though it means that if I don't like the prices or choice of stock from an English retailer then I will just shop abroad. Amusingly using my UKARA number to get overseas orders into the country
  10. I always used to plan to pack MREs for days when the food on site was terrible. However I quickly realised I could do without lunch and becoming dehydrated was more of an issue. That said if people want to bring out the mess tins etc then I say crack on. Even basic hot food is surprisingly good when you've been out all day, especially when it gets cold.
  11. Either an assault vest type jobby as above or a plate carrier should do the trick.
  12. This is the most important thing to take note of. I overheard someone telling another playing that using LiPos will essentially break your gun, and he wasn't talking specifically about 11.1v and above either... The best thing i've found is to get a general consensus when looking for advice, unless you know the person you are talking to is knowledgeable enough to take their word at face value. Dave is one of the people on here i'd listen to, but it's best to make up your own mind. Lubricating gas blowback pistols is a good example I came across. Not long after I had got into Airsoft I asked 3 different shops what to do and got 3 completely different answers.
  13. It's bad timing to post this and don't expect people to be ok with it. However it's up to you and I don't have to deal with the consequences. Lots of the other examples compared to the SS are poor at best.
  14. Hehe, there were some pretty nice deals going around last year. Picked up a pair of Oshibooms for £100. I was a bit cynical of black friday but in reality it means you can get stuff you already wanted at a better price. That or you just buy stuff because it's cheap, there's always a valid excuse for buying stuff
  15. Are you prepared to say which retailer it was yet or waiting for it all to be done and dusted?
  16. I'll be keeping an eye on the black friday stuff at the end of the month and possibly going mad with money I shouldn't be spending
  17. My mate has had his TM HK416 upgraded by them and after using it I decided to buy a Recce rifle and get the same work done on it. I've still not had a chance to use my Recce rifle though as I don't have the money to finish off the build just yet. Sam, the owner is a really nice guy but he can be a bit hard to get hold of. Although in fairness i've found this is true of a lot of shops i've had dealings with.
  18. I've always worn smartwool socks and they seem pretty good. I'd imagine that a number of the wool blend socks on the market are very similar, recently seen the make darn good socks recommended. I find that good inner soles make a much bigger difference than socks. I've worn my normal cheapo sports socks and they've been fine with my german para boots too. Probably the worst thing i've done footwear wise was to wear my boots every day as it meant my sweaty feet stopped the inner soles from drying out and knackered them. It's also very uncomfortable wearing inner soles that have had it
  19. There's this one: http://www.actionhobbies.co.uk/Umarex-Walther-PPQ-M2-GBB-Airsoft-Pistol-Black_A1J5Z9.aspx But no idea if it's in stock and can't say if it will accept a silencer. Personally if I wanted a specifically silenced pistol I would get a TM MK23. They are decent guns and outside of spring sniper rifles are the quietest gun I have come across.
  20. Yeah I agree Trigger I'm not keen on the whole surrendering thing as it just seems a bit pointless. At least with knife kills it's clear they've got you as opposed to possibly got you. Not to mention i've always had issues with people shooting me well after I hit them and some people must do it on purpose as I know some repeat offenders. I'd rather people didn't deliberately shoot me in the head at point blank but then there's shooting people and there's just being a dick. On Sunday a guy on the other team walked right up to me and I twigged he was probably on the other team(it was dark and i'd switched teams late into the day) as he's standing right next to me so I figured i'd let him pass and once I confirmed he had no arm band I'd shoot him. However he realised what was happening just before passing me and said something like "I don't want to get shot and neither do you" so I said let's both just take the hit and started walking back to regen. Personally I didn't care about getting shot point blank as i've drawn on people in that situation before but I thought i'd be nice. Next thing I know my mate is catching up with me as the same guy has just knife killed him. Sod not shooting people when you have the chance.
  21. I think the best general rule is "if in doubt take the hit" I had a couple of instances the other day of hitting people and them not taking it when they were partially behind cover. I suspect they thought the shots were ricochets.
  22. I can't honestly remember which MP5s and G36s i've used that had ambi selector switches. My main gripe with them is the fire modes never seem to lock positively like they do on say an M4, coupled with the fact the angle between fire modes is not linear. The actual labeling isn't an issue as far as i'm concerned, it's more the selector switch feeling very floaty. I guess it could just be personal preference.
  23. MP5s are nice, although i've yet to see an Airsoft H&K gun that uses that style fire selector that isn't horrible.
  24. As people have said it's a bad idea. I know someone that had the armed response unit called on them after messing about with airsoft guns in the woods. Going into a town/residential area is going to attract a lot more unwanted attention. Also they confiscated and destroyed all their guns.
  25. I also take it you are under 18 as it's rare to see one of these threads from anyone over the age of 18
