  1. I think all hits to the body or equipment should count. I've never played anywhere where this isn't the case though As far as gun hits go I think the best rule is it disables your gun and you can switch to a backup if you carry one, once this gets hit you are out. Where i've seen this rule in play you aren't allowed to take more than 2 gun hits(i.e. carry loads of weapons to use as lives) I have always suspected that people could use a no gun hit rule to treat their gun as a shield, but i've not witnessed it.
  2. I buy the boxes of 12 x 3000 blasters from socom tactical. I'm at work so can't bring the link up, someone on here recommended BBs Direct a while back too, they are on Facebook but no idea what the brand of BBs they sell are like.
  3. At the end of the day get what you like the look of, Trigger does have a point though that G&G aren't the be all and end all of mid range guns
  4. I'd leave it stock, or if you do fancy changing parts be careful with what you change. You could quite happily spend 100s on parts from Eagle6 only to realise it's barely done anything, or has made the performance suffer. It isn't exclusive to TM recoils but it's pretty terrible to see, especially as they perform well stock. I replaced the barrel and hop rubber on my HK416 after a year or so. It possibly made the performance slightly better, but in hindsight i'd have probably left it alone if it wasn't also a case of me learning how to take it all apart. If you are going to get any work done by a tech i'd recommend using one that specialises in them(think there's a list on Eagle6 for starters). I had some work done a while back on my TM Recce rifle and they don't just go and throw all the internals in the bin and sell you the most expensive stuff going because it doesn't necessarily lead to the best performance.
  5. You can also get SOPMOD PMAGs which are 120, that's what i've been using on my HK416. I've seen a few kicking about on ebay, although i'm not 100% they aren't clones.
  6. I like mine, they are fun to shoot and reliable. I think they are worth the money whilst some others don't
  7. I think the guys are asking about the motor on account of the wires hanging out the bottom of your pistol grip. That isn't normal as there should be a base plate there.
  8. You can also get ones that look like this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Black-Bear-Airsoft-Raider-Coyote/dp/B004R45NB6 I read something about different sites having different views of what they consider full face protection, i.e. two piece goggles and lower mesh vs a one piece full face protector of some description. I can't say I know any more than that though as when I was under 18 playing Airsoft I wasn't aware there were other options(plus it was over a decade ago)
  9. There's a few people on here that do it and I just stop responding to them as it feels like a thread merry go round. I'm not directing this at anyone in particular but it's pretty irritating to spend a load of time explaining something to then see another thread on the same topic crop up. That or the person says "what's a good MP5?" then "what about AKs?" followed by other models they have flitted to lol.
  10. Welcome to the forum, i'd recommend you peruse the guides here if you haven't already: http://www.airsoft-forums.co.uk/index.php/topic/12854-new-player-guides-info/ Covers a lot of stuff that's very commonly asked by new players.
  11. Airborne Airsoft is worth a look, there's a good bunch of people that have been attending the campaign for the last 9 months or so. The next game is at the Bramley training camp but they are normally at Longmoor camp. Essentially you are looking at set camo per side, an ammo limit, medic rules that involve using bandages and a whole day of play without breaks, unless you want them.
  12. I believe the WE and TM G17s fit a Glock 21 holster by standard as they aren't the same dimensions as the real steel G17. Fobus and IMI normally do good cheaper retention holsters.
  13. Andy at Xsite did my mates DMR(G&G SR-25) so it be worth giving them a ring if you haven't already. Although I think like most techs they get pretty busy at times.
  14. I've ordered another set of ESS ICE glasses as the nosebridge seems to only come in a pack with the rims and the only places selling them cost the same or more than a whole set of glasses When I next get the chance i'm planning on shooting a pair of my Bolle glasses with a 500 FPS sniper rifle at point blank to see what happens. It won't be definitive proof but if they crack or completely break it's definitely bad news.
  15. Welcome to the forum. DMRs always have the problem of having massively inconsistent site rules ranging from 350 FPS(i.e. none) through to 450-500 FPS. The way I look at it is to accept you won't be able to use it at all sites once you cross the 350 FPS threshold and ideally pick sites you'd like to use it at and tailor the FPS accordingly. I'm basing this on rules sites run in the south east as that's where I play also and I looked when I thought about getting one. I can't really say much on the technical side as it's something i'd generally prefer to get someone else to do for me. However we are still in the process of checking out south eastern sites, possibly Combat South Woodland this coming Sunday. You are more than welcome to tag along, it will just depend on how far you are happy to drive.
  16. I'm currently using Bolle contour which are nice and comfortable, plus they are rated despite being available for less than £10. Also have Bolle Cobra which come with a head band, which the contours don't - Cobras are meant for people with bigger heads or something along those lines. http://www.proairsoftsupplies.co.uk/acatalog/Bolle-1.html I was actually using ESS ICE but the rubber section that goes across the nose fell off, i'd recommend a couple of dabs of superglue where it connects to the plastic part of the nose section as it's just held in place by a couple of small plastic spikes. The issue is without that bit I find they are so close to my eyes that I can feel my eyelashes rubbing on the lenses when I blink. Good glasses though.
  17. The pouches aren't removable as they are sewn on the front. I guess it depends how many mags you like to carry as 8 primary mags and 4 pistol mags is overkill for me.
  18. They aren't the only option but the quality is really nice so they often get recommended. I have a condor chest rig and the chest is pretty big, I can't actually tighten it enough to fit me snugly I'd suggest this one instead: http://www.military1st.co.uk/mcr5-008-condor-recon-chest-rig-multicam.html As it has a ton of mag pouches built in, the only downside is it means you can't pick and choose what goes on the front.
  19. Yep Warrior stuff gets my vote too, I own the DCS and have always been very happy with it.
  20. Some of the guns with recoil don't sound too good, I'm not sure what system it is but i've heard guns that sound like a bag of bolts. The only one I can vouch for is the TM recoil system which makes a sort of thunk noise when it fires, I actually get a lot of people ask if my HK416 is a gas gun. Youtube videos aren't generally a good indicator either, a lot of real guns sound strange once you factor in things like the microphone and video/audio compression into the mix. Whatever you choose, ideally i'd recommend going into a shop that lets you shoot it first to get a better idea of how it works for you. At the stage you are at the best thing is going to be getting experience with as wide a range of guns as possible to make an informed decision.
  21. As the guys above have said just be aware of the mag capacity and cost including mags if you want to go down the GBBR route. Other than that though there's nothing stopping you as some people find AEGs aren't their thing from the get-go. One thing to consider is that different AEGs sound different, I find some sound awful whilst I like the noise the TM recoil shocks make. All opinion at the end of the day though, I think those loudeners sound like crap whilst other people like them.
  22. The G&G gas rifles are not well regarded, I'd have a quick look through this thread: http://www.airsoft-forums.co.uk/index.php/topic/28296-need-help-with-picking-a-gbbr/ No idea about the other one but you're likely to have problems if you get a cheapo GBBR.
  23. Those videos are really well done, I also like this one:
  24. Hire guns tend to have awful range/accuracy and it's also easy to assume you are hitting people because your BBs are heading in their direction but they are actually falling short but you get an idea of the limits of your gun over time. What the guys above have said is sound, but providing you are using a hire gun you probably just need to get closer.
