  1. A TM VSR 10 or JG BAR 10 are normally the recommended rifles as there's loads of VSR compatible parts on the market. It is pretty easy to find this information but figured i'd answer you rather than posting something about using google or whatever.
  2. I normally wear German Para boots, but then I mainly play woodland. I've got some 5.11 trainer type shoes that I wear casually but also in places like the Mall, nice and comfortable with good grip and ankle support. I don't think I would be too keen wearing expensive boots in woodland as I normally come out of games with big gouges in my boots.
  3. One thing to consider when using weapons boxes is people will generally try and get the most overpowered loadout they can. It's pretty common on public servers that allow them to see everyone rocking M14 EBRs, a launcher and as much ammo and grenades as they can carry. The last group I played with ran pretty strict loadouts but would at times spawn boxes in at the start if people were missing kit they should have had. Some people would be a bit cheeky with what they would try and get away with, personally i'd try and get 6 x 200 round box mags for the Minimi if I could get away with it. It's fun either way, but it certainly makes fights a lot easier when you don't do things like restrict players by their role or say "I think 20+ spare mags is a bit much"
  4. I can't really say i'm fussed what demographic people fall into as long as they play well and behave themselves. One good thing a lot of the younger players bring to the table is they tend to be very fast and don't need a lie down after running for 10 minutes.
  5. It's all about Raven Shield and Rogue Spear, after that they don't even feel like Rainbow Six games. I got Siege with my graphics card, I've only played it a bit and it seems alright but I've already got a load of games to keep me busy. I could do with rereading the book though as I remember it being good, although that must have been 10-15 years ago.
  6. It depends on how you do it though. If it's shouting across a room for a Marshal after getting in a firefight and it's nothing serious it looks a lot like cheat calling. If you walk up to a Marshal, give them a player's description and say something like "would you mind keeping an eye on that player as i'm pretty sure I hit them a few times" it comes across a lot differently to both the site staff and other players.
  7. To a lot of players doing this is considered the same as cheat calling. I personally wouldn't shout for a marshal unless something dangerous was happening. Up to you though, but i've seen a massive argument take place because of someone doing this when they thought they had hit a player but hadn't.
  8. My favourite are the clans that say they are super hardcore right down to trying to have someone playing the drill instructor from full metal jacket. Then everyone plays in 3rd person mode... no one will ever admit they like it because they can see around corners and over obstacles.
  9. Wait so does that mean when someone told me to put a G&P M120 motor in my TM HK416 to increase the range he was wrong?
  10. The radio mods for Arma are pretty decent and it's good for learning to give concise, accurate descriptions of where the enemy is. Although you still come across long time Arma players that will still insist of saying "there's an enemy over there by the tree" when you are in a wooded area lol. A lot of the military tactics that work in real life don't tend to really do a whole lot in game(Arma or Airsoft), although it's often hard to tell if clans do them for immersion or because they think it benefits their team's effectiveness. It all falls apart a bit in Arma when you hit all the issues like breaching a room and the enemy that is lying down for some reason spins around on the spot after being shot 5 times in the chest and kills you instantly or when you are drilling a group of enemies with an LMG and they still return fire that kills you. I do actually really like Arma, but I wonder if playing similar to how ShackTac do would be more beneficial so you can focus more on communication and coordination. As opposed to drills that don't work particularly well in Arma and might not work at all in Airsoft. At the end of the day though, it's up to you guys so do what you want
  11. If it was my money i'd probably get one of these: http://www.fire-support.co.uk/product/marui-recoil-cqbr-black-version-airsoft-gun-ebb-aeg Some people moan about the materials TM use in their gearboxes but it's worth noting they are extremely reliable, fun to shoot and accurate out of the box. They also have bolt stop which is what you are after, although as PT247 says most guns are going to be at least a bit bigger.

  13. There definitely wasn't a lack of players at the last private game I went to with Trigger. There were very few breaks in the action and a lot of those were where I headed in completely the wrong direction. I'm not sure if it's a law of averages thing but I've found the standard of play to generally be higher on day with less people. The downside is if you have a few useless people that want to get in the way at chokepoints or try to shoot people from 70 odd metres it can mean half your team is awful, this happened to me at the Greenops game I did a while back. I will only be doing the Saturday game.
  14. Mainly Overwatch and also Star Citizen if it delivers, which it looks like it will. The Occulus Rift should be pretty good if they iron out all the flaws the devkits had. It would be cool to see something like what the DayZ mod Overpoch has become but on a more modern and stable engine. All the games that seem to want to copy DayZ are horrible, doesn't necessarily need zombies either as the most compelling thing is the PvP.
  15. I like trousers with the knee pads built in because I always seem to savagely bruise up my knees and I mainly play woodland. My Multicam Tropic trousers cost around the same amount and they are nice and sturdy, whilst my surplus MTP trousers are starting to get holes in the knees after less than 5 games. Plus there is a massive hole in one of the pockets, could be too much pocket billiards to be fair.... There seems to be pretty big jumps in build quality once you reach a certain price point. For Airsoft clothing it's around £100 and with ski/snowboard jackets it's around £200 in my experience. I have absolutely no idea if the really expensive stuff is worth the money, but i'd suspect diminishing returns kick in like they do with almost anything as the price ramps up. It all depends on what you want I guess, personally I've become bored of cheap stuff that breaks easily.
  16. Looking at it I think the picture on the Edgar Brothers website makes the pads/strips look like they weirdly bulgey. They don't look so odd in other photos.
  17. Welcome to the forum, that's a very nice collection of toys you've got there.
  18. Sacarathe is your bank the one in Mary Poppins? I thought everyone just used card readers these days
  19. The kneepads in those look really weird.
  20. I could probably get some more "friends" if we need to make up numbers.
  21. I'm bringing 5 hookers to make up the numbers, I don't have any friends
  22. That's the biggest problem, it's not just a case of finding someone to smash out a half decent database and another who has a card printer. It very much feels like a lot of Airsofters don't want to upset the status quo, and I can absolutely see why. Edit: My multiquote skills leave much to be desired.
  23. The problem would lie in who manages it. The current system lets a select few retailers hold the power. If an independent party rocked up with the correct checks and balances in place to at least make them in line with how UKARA interprets the VCRA then I would be all for it. It is a lot of work though, both in setting up the system correctly and getting retailers onboard. Ideally said party would also have a decent spokesman to handle the vocal minority of mongs that might question them.
  24. In my mind the best solution would be a centralised database that has a register of us as players, plus the RIFs we own. However this would all come at a cost so the government would be unlikely to support it. Especially given the typical response to mentioning Airsoft to those unfamiliar with it seems to be people asking if the metal BBs are dangerous.... I can see why Airsofters react when any sort of legislation is brought up that might effect the hobby, because as I understand it when the VCRA was introduced the legislators weren't even aware it was a thing. Although to be fair they would have to spend up to half an hour gathering information on laws they are passing and that's a lot of effort
  25. I'd vote to block any "because terrorism" laws being passed. Giving everyone guns because people definitely aren't stupid, not so much.
