Not my place to take offence on others behalf but certainly bad vibes mocking people's accents. Not like it really makes a difference but its thanks to people like "Wang in HK" that we have this hobby. Just something to think about

You are right mate.  I meant that to be a deliberate groan joke  rather than mockery.   I should have realised that it would be read as you say.

Certainly hope no one was offended.

Maybe not the answer you were looking for but whatever. I played a game at Camp Sparta, but hosted by Brit Tac. One of the best day's airsofting I ever had. They have a 10 hour "battlesim" coming up next month which may be worth investigating: https://www.brittacevents.com/event-details/op-red-wings-10-hour-event-camp-sparta

You get to play at Camp Sparta (which is absolutely amazing) and I can vouch for the great day Brit Tac put on. You also get a longer day, which takes the sting out of a longer drive (3hrs in my case) I can't vouch for how Camp Sparta actually run things.

Though I have to disagree with the comments made above about smoke inside buildings (I thought it was cool) and people using respirators (fair play, i also consider this to be cool). "don't be a dick" is a nice enough thing to say but not actually a very useful one as clearly people have different ideas about what constitutes being a dick. Hence why its good to have unambiguous rules. In this case, the rules unambiguously allow the use of smokes indoors. So bring your smokes. Bring a respirator if you have one too

Funny old day today.  Went for our usual run around Tuddenham for Filmsim, which is my favourite type of game tbh.

We were assigned a chap who I have milsimed with in the past at cold war games.  He certainly knew his stuff, and set out a clear game plan and assigned people tasks if they wished.  The game was fairly simple and based on some console game I think.  At least the kids all knew what the teams were supposed to be about any how.

The standard of gameplay was brilliant, the scenarios well briefed, the marshalling was excellent (what little was required) and bar someone with the mother of plate carriers being truly oblivious to being hit, there were no problems at all.

I loved sneaking through the scrub and finding the enemy, got some hilariously lucky shots through bushes and got some good long range shots walking the M4 in like a mortar.  Having a contact lens fall out as I ran full pelt (lumbered quickish might be more accurate...) was weird.  My shooting was well off with one eye seriously short sighted.

What was strange was the lack of aggression on our team.   Breakthroughs were unexploited, pushes fizzled out and a few times the three or four players that did push up were friendly fired.  It didn't dampen the day for us at all, but I expect that it may have done if someone were ultra competitive.  Odd as the onsite team were full of energy and the other side really enthused.

Really glad I went despite the crap weather.  Don't think I've ever had a bad day here tbh.

On the rare occasion where I start to feel like this (usually from a prolonged time away from airsoft) I just turn on the news, 5 minutes later I am not exactly raring to go but it puts my (self cantered whinging) lack of motivation under a spotlight. Frustration with the last 18 months restrictions and impact on my business and finances would be top of my list of reasons to feel a lack of enthusiasm for something I enjoy doing.
We all need our own motivation to get off our arses, looking at the shit show in Afghanistan and  the fact that people would try and hold onto a plane as it takes off and getting killed doing so puts my life into perspective somewhat.
Airsoft is not the answer, but a profound lack of motivation to do something you normally enjoy? I think you are asking yourself the wrong question about the wrong subject.

airsoft is so much bigger and better then one's local site. quite simply get out more! disrupt your homeostatis, raise the bar and jump over it. im sure you'll get the spark back. life is too short to think 'what if'. its too short to do the same old same old too. having fun is hard work. any dickhead can load up a game, stick the tv on or get a round in.

bit cringe but i agree with mr damon here:
    edit to explain myself:
"This type of impatience is usually accompanied by the Number 1 Error as well. It is due to the failure to appreciate the fundamental process by which strength accumulates. Stress is that which disrupts homeostasis – the current level of physiological adaptation. Stress is a change in an organism’s environment sufficient to cause the organism to adapt to the new requirements imposed by the change. Whether it is a mosquito population adapting to an insecticide or a weightlifter adapting to 5 pounds added to last week’s deadlift, adaptation is the process we manipulate in order to get stronger."

This is something I kinda put together. I wanted to combine what I like about plate carriers (elastic cummberbunds instead of straps, and after market support) with what i like about chest rigs (they don't need to have plates in them). In the photo I have it set up for use with my LMG so I have two box mags in the front. If I want to switch to the M4, then I clip in the other bit to the side there. Its still a WIP but I think the proof of concept is there.

    Bullgear hydro bag
    Viper elastic cummberbund
    Panda tac GMR-style 40mm bandolier
Viper mini chest rig with FMA kydex insert and viper elastic inserts + cellargear dangler for timed bfgs
MCx custom gear GMR-style minimap + hw holsters timed bfg holsters
Some velcro back pads I got off ali (forget the name)

I bought a lot of stuff over lockdown but got rid of a fair amount too. Not going completely minimalist but really streamlining my stuff and focusing on 24h games. I love, absolutely love (toy) guns, gear and gadgets, but I see them as a means to an end, rather then an end in of themselves.

I'm not going to say its the end of my airsoft journey in terms of buying things but I have destination in mind and the end is in sight.

Aside from a few little bits and bobs (specifically some pressure switches, and maybe a softshell jacket ready for autumn/winter), I'd like to get an mp7 (for local cqb games and gas and spring only evenings), a thermal optic (for predator mode), and much, much later down the line a sniper rifle as I'd like to try Hunteering. I will check back in next year and see whats up. Please wish me and my wallet luck. thank you.

    Thought I'd chip in:

I had my first game since October at the start of June with an evening game at South Coast CQB. I think this might my favourite site and the closest I've got to a "regular". Venue aside (it should really be called South Coast Urban or something) it really has got a nice atmosphere to it, the sportsmanship from the players was 10/10 and small things like free bottled water go a long way. I shot lots of bb's, even hit a few people and had a tough time getting to sleep afterwards such was the buzz.

Me and a fellow forumite then visited Apocalypse Airsoft for my first "milsim". First things first: despite being a 50hr+ event it ended after "only" 36 hours as people on the (other!) team got a bit tired/fed up. Our attempt at LARPing as afghan villagers was totally silly and very fun but unfortunately the other team didn't really play ball. And then complained about how it was more of a "skirmish" than a milsim. sometimes you can't win. I try to have the attitude of a good day/ weekend first, a good skirmish/"milsim" second, and it was certainly a good weekend. I managed to rack up 22hrs of straight airsoft and the night time bit was super fun. I put "milsim" in quotes cause I think it can mean everything, but also, at the same time, nothing. But the night time bit really did remind me of my (very, very limited experience of) night time exercises in a good way, even though if I was to write down what went down you might think "that doesn't sound very fun". I suppose you had to be there. I can't help but feel a little bit cheated by the premature ending of the event as I had taken the monday off work to recover. I don't want a refund, but I would like the site to black list the lightweights (sorry!) at least from long events - but that ain't gonna happen! Or maybe just do 24h events as there is no prizes for hosting the longest airsoft event or anything.

A month or so later we went up north to Brit Tac's "13 hours" battlesim(??) at Camp Sparta. I think this was the best day of airsoft I had ever had, ever. The numbers on our team were quite low oweing to football drop outs, but I think this was for the best as the 20 or so of us were divided into 3 teams and it all felt quite "tight" with lots of communication and coordinating. I could go on and on about how fun this was. On the downside, I did manage to hurt my ears (lesson learnt about hearing protection) and it took over 2 weeks for them to stop hurting. Edit: I've heard people complain about smoke inside buildings at camp sparta. Personally I thought it was awesome! At one stage i couldn't see my hand in front of me such was the darkness and smog... its a novelty.

Finally, I got down to Echelon in Gravesend for their first public game, was umming and ahhin'g about that specific date till i saw there was only one ticket left, so i felt I kinda had to! Very good fun, and i'm very grateful to have some cqb relatively accessible from London - though the turnaround for evening games needs to be much much quicker imo, and just for the sake of expectation management, whilst its very cool playing in a former debenhams, i'm not sure its necessarily a "destination" site in the same way one of the UCAP jails, or The Gaol, or Camp Sparta or SCCQB are. This might sound more negative than I intend, perhaps I've been spoilt a bit with sccqb and camp sparta within a few weeks of each other. I bought some hearing protection with me after last time, and as sods law dictates...there was hardly any bangs. I'm sure people will get more bang happy as they learn the site a bit more though!

Next up is my first game with Stirling Airsoft at "the trees" so I'm looking forward to that.

GeorgePlaysAirsoft reacted to Asomodai in SE Tour Review: Tower Airsoft (Essex)
    Site Name: Tower Airsoft
    Contact details: 07534636289

Facebook Page: Tower Airsoft | Facebook
Site Address: S&J Action Sports LTD, Heath Road, Billlericay, CM11 1HL

Myself and @Albiscuit had actually popped along to Tower airsoft before on the first of the Tuesday evening mini games, but I decided to wait for a full game day before writing a review. Full game days are on Saturdays only at this moment in time. We attended 17/07/2021

Tower Airsoft was created from the ashes of another abandoned Delta Paintball site (See my Cobham review for another). The same people who run Airsoft Plantation decided to take it over and turn it into another site which is conveniently just around the corner from AP.

Tower airsoft, whilst an ex Paintball site does not have the usual obvious "Game zones". There are distinct areas, but there are no obvious barriers between them.

This is a small woodland site, no undulation, Lots of different types of cover such as man made earthworks, buildings, low, medium and high foliage depending on the area. Short to medium range engagement distance.

    Good:

Playing Area: A varied area. A section that has a large 2 story fort and Church both separated and surrounded by ferns and various bushes. A cut down area of forest, a section of road separating a tall copse of trees. A small area next to the safe zone with two opposing double decker buses set 25 metres apart with oil barrels in-between them which ensures fast paced and desperate play. Our favourite area is the Village and Bridge sections. The village is fantastic BECAUSE it is nice and overgrown, which adds much more to the game then if it was cleared out. No water features, completely flat. Nothing is overly special, but what is there is of good quality.

Turn around time: The mini game we went to we felt that turnaround time was a little slow, but the full game day had a much faster turnaround, which exhausted a few people because of how hot it was! We felt the full game day is much better value for money then the evening game.

Marshalling: It's organised by AP so as usual it is incredibly well staffed with knowledgeable, approachable and fair marshals. Exactly the same experience that you get with AP.

Safe Zone: It's a fairly large area, everyone had a seat and most had cover from the hot sun. The safe zone is entirely self contained with the food truck, free water, setup areas, shop, toilets and game brief area all in the safe zone.

Toilets: Real toilets, inside a structure. Nuff said.

Food: The same people who run the van at AP, so you know it's fairly decent stuff with a wide selection and very friendly people running it. A credit to AP and Tower.

Clientele: Classic AP camaraderie. Though in a more intimate and smaller setting. There were some really good players out there on the day. It was hot so not a huge amount of interaction, but we certainly pushed each other on the blue side.

    Average:

Value: Good value at £25 for the day though didn't come with any food included. For what we got, it was certainly reasonable!

For the evening game it is £20 and honestly, not worth the money for less then 3 hours of play.

Safety Brief: Short and sweet. Covered most things, though sadly no bang pyro is allowed on site and gun hits and switch to secondary were not mentioned until brought up after the brief.

Game Modes: The first game mode didn't quite work for me as there was some confusion with the game boundaries (Use of the Church upper floor) and the choice of using unlimited lives in one section, but just two lives on another section. The rest of the games were much simpler and worked better, considering its a hot day and people aren't quite used to Tower's newly opened sections as of yet.

Car Park/Entrance: The usual mud/gravel track, there is some prime car parking along the road near the entrance to the safe zone, however if you arrive later you will need to park further away from the safe zone. Numbers were somewhat low due to the weather, but I do wonder how the car park would handle much more in the way of cars.

Hit taking: Good for almost the entire day. However there was one particular player that I had an altercation with. They refused to take their hits despite seeing bb's pinging off them but then shooting back. I took the hit,  respawned and tried to hunt him down again. Hit him multiple times with a pistol from one side of the tree, he continued firing at someone else and ignoring being hit in the body. I kept firing at him to call it, he turned to me, shot me and then called hit. I refused to call the hit and he started shouting at me to take my hit and that it was a 50/50 situation. I explained that I shot him multiple times before he killed someone else and then me and refused to call it. He kept moaning and kept pointing at me to his mate during this time who promptly shot me and I took the hit.

I went back to the safe zone for a few minutes to take myself out of the situation. It's a shame that one player decided they wanted to play juggernaut and spoil what was a good day (A little).

Shop: Not a huge amount on offer, the basics and some equipment, better then nothing.

    Bad:

Chrono: The usual AP rules apply. Honesty based chrono, available to use, but not enforced, checked or tagged. At the evening game I and some other players were checked near the end of the evening. On the full game day I didn't see anyone get chronoed. It's disappointing, but it is what it is.

    350 AEGS, 450 DMRs, 500 Bolties.

    Conclusion:

An interesting site for AP to take on, it's much smaller then plantation, but has some areas that AP just does not have in terms of a couple of larger buildings. It's a very different site. I recommend this for people who want the AP management experience, but with smaller numbers, smaller games and less walking. The opposing double decker bus game is a real hoot and we enjoyed playing it on both the night and day games.

So overall, very good! AP staff running it heightens what is/was just an average paintball site to something better. It's not unique, but it doesn't necessarily have to be to have a good day.

Al and myself had a great time and we will certainly be back and into a regular rotation.

Bullpup Watch: SRS only. Almost everyone played with an M4...

    Best Guess Map:

Need to decide if the ranger band at the front gets swapped out for sniper tape, and likely get less shit at doing things with paracord… aaaaand figure out if I’m going to throw any paint at it 🤷🏻‍♂️.
