in fairness that's pretty much why we ordered from europe before brexit too.

i did have a krink with the romanian coathanger and whilst it was solid with no wobble it was terrible cheek weld (compared to the russian triangle/full sidefolders). the amd stock i can only assume would have the same problem. but i suppose it's just a preference thing

not really a fan of the amd stock, it looks really uncomfortable....

if you want an underfolder with a different twist what about the akmsu? i might hate underfolders but man do i want one of those handguards......

i mean one less underfolder in the world? in case it wasnt obvious i hate underfolders, at least equally, if not more than m4 stocks on ak's......

yeah, i was talking about the iron sight block originally, needless to say the rail being off is very obvious. thing is, that type being mounted to the lower handguard (not all of them have a barrel mount as iceni mentions) it's just not that good of a mounting system. a gas block rail might be a better option? the version i have has screws that would let you adjust the angle of it before clamping down (although i had to file mine down to fit the trunnion end so it's a very tight fit)

you could try a magnet? it's just it looks kind of like the furniture was the original fake-wood type as is on my version sanded down to look black?

the thing i'd mention about the pyramex iforce, which probably applies to other dual-pane types is you can get some very weird visual artefacts/reflections in them. i keep finding myself going back to bolle raiders (which can be setup as full seal) although i might try some 6b34's soon as the bore offset of my pk1 means i'm running a beard weld rather than a cheek weld.....

when you say adjusting optics you mean a dot mounted to that upper rail, or something mounted to the siderail?

the top cover seems to be pretty standard fare for ak's, it's one of the reasons for the side mount. maybe it's the image, although kudos for getting most of it in focus, bit the front sight looks ok? the rear does look like it's rotated left and anticlockwise a bit although maybe i'm imagining it. i have had this with e&l's with the barrel mounting, although you can kind of wrestle it straight during reassembly and it sits good enough.

if memory serves that's schrapnel protection, so ludicrously over-rated for airsoft. i wanna say over 30j but citation needed....

do you know which version the WE is (alu/steel reciever) and the make of the scope?

indeed, the point is not that we think tg is a bad shop, but that if we have to deal with ups it'd be as easy to buy elsewhere.

the issue is that while a sniper at med is roughly equivalent to a rifleman point blank, you have the problem that people can be running hot, or snipers can ignore/misjudge their med. for clarity it seems the high mass impact test is specific to the Z87.1+ not regular Z87.1 so i'm assuming that without the + it's only rated for the 1j strike (again could be stronger than rated)

sometimes folk ask me why i don't bother with real guns, my answer is pretty much this. plus it's more fun when the target can shoot back

worth checking for a grub screw under the sling loop. depending how strong/secure the rail is, a big screwdriver wrapped in cardboard could help persuade it, although speedbirds tapping method might work better if it's corroded on.

some of that is serious failures too, would beg the question what else is wrong with them that this guy doesn't realise.

a little digging it's a tricky one. the Z87.1+ standard seems to have 2 impact tests, the high mass test looks to be ~7j but at a low velocity, their "high velocity" test seems to be about 1j. as with all standards that's a minimum, so they could well be stronger than that, however there's never a guarantee and if in doubt get your local kickingmustang to drop a round in them point blank.

inb4 do your own homework why did i start? always was a techy/nerdy kind of guy, and always had a thing about guns. before airsoft used to be pretty big into rc models but at least where i am that's not the most social or active hobby. ended up trying out airsoft, loved it and once i'd time served grabbed an f2000 (because bad company 2) and of course my tinkering nature took me down the rabbit hole of teching pretty quick. what do i like about airsoft? well there's a few things, certainly the fact it's a more accessible hobby for gun aficionado's in this country definitely helps, and as i mentioned previously the teching/tinkering element really appeals to me. i do also like the positive aspects of the community insofar as the variety and crazy things people do like dressing up as a cowboy and running around with a revolver not because it's effective or easy but because it's fun. the weird camaraderie you get from it is also quite nice. i do like that there's something for everybody. what do i not like about airsoft? the disorganization, and the general lottery where even a "good" site can have a day ruined if a bunch of players with questionable sportsmanship turn up. i especially dislike, although maybe that's just where i am/the sites i have access to, the lack of good rule communication/enforcement, with a chronic lack of marshalling staff both in terms of numbers, and in terms of staff that will actually deal with problems. it would be nice if it was organized enough to have a bit more assurance that a given game day can't be so easily ruined. do i think airsoft has health benefits? yes absolutely, as someone who finds it incredibly difficult to exercise for exercise' sake my fitness comes from activities that are either productive, or fun. and airsoft provides the kind of workout that i simply couldn't be bothered to do otherwise. i also think it's a good boost for mental health, taking a break from the normal daily routine and doing something so radically different with a bunch of like-minded people and meeting folks you otherwise wouldn't. needless to say lockdown really highlighted this and i'm sure i'm not the only one who has struggled to keep the fire burning.

my problem with the kriss, at least the airsoft versions i've seen (which are presumably trying to mimick the real thing) is it's the densest gun i've met. you pick it up thinking "it's an smg how heavy can it.... hnnnngg"

is it weird that part of me kind of likes that....... although this does expose a pet peeve of mine which goes beyond just airsoft, which is the fashion for 3-d printing all the things. 3-d printing has its place but sometimes i think what happens is more of a "if all you have is a hammer, every problem looks like a nail" kind of thing.

oh god i truly detest those, for people that love winding magazines but hate reloading......
