  1. interesting to hear how the externals are for the newer models they've always seemed all right external wise, but by no means on a par with the premium brands in their respective categories. probably more evident on ak's than m4's admittedly.
  2. well you know how a black hole sucks time and energy out of the universe, a white hole returns it
  3. i've never seen one before but i'm guessing it's a white hole
  4. tbh it really depends on the caliber of the shop/shop tech, sadly there are some that will just blindly do what the ticket asks without stopping to think "why are we fitting a picoaab when this gun already has a mosfet?" this is one of the reasons i advocate doing tech work yourself- at least then you know what's going on inside your gat.
  5. secondhand could be the key then, previous owner could have had something with a burst in there. surprised the shop didn't bother to mention it.
  6. guess that would depend on the shop, it might not have been the case, maybe there was an issue with the cutoff lever making it do something strange which they fixed when installing the new one. although by your reports it sounded like it was a consistent 3 shot burst which does sound like a mosfet functionality, did you get the gun new or secondhand?
  7. me local had those in for a while, apparently they sold really well. although to who i don't know, i've never seen one fielded.
  8. unported sounds right for a full length ak. if you're switching barrels then just keep as close to the stock length as you can. aeg's tend to be pretty forgiving on the whole voluming thing, it's really stuff like hpa's where volume matching becomes a real issue (although granted on hpa's you can also dial it in to perfection with relative ease)
  9. to be clear: semi automatic=single shot=1 round per trigger pull which is how it's supposed to work- exactly as in your video multiple shots when in semi-auto means one of 2 things: -a fast build with no braking that's overspinning (this is normally only 2 shots per trigger pull no matter how long you hold it down) -a mosfet with a burst functionality, which the gun may have had before it was changed to the pico aab however on the pico aab you will only get single shot or full auto, it can't do burst. if you want burst the easiest option would be a warfet, it'll plug straight in same as the pico aab but you can program it to do a multi-shot burst if you so choose.
  10. the internals certainly, but the externals are more of a design choice thing. maybe it's once burned twice shy but if there was an e&l variant of a gun i wouldn't even consider lct. granted lct do make some stuff that e&l don't.
  11. a handguard should be fine, it's recievers and pressure bearing components are going to be raising eyebrows.
  12. ^pretty much agree with that. the we's aren't as good as the ghk/tm line but they are still usable. the trigger components do seem to be the weak area of their ar lineup, the metal is just not hard enough for the rigors of a gbbr, however there are aftermarket parts available.
  13. when you say stopping semi, are you meaning you're getting lockups? active brake will try to stop the motor the moment the cutoff lever trips, depending on how fast the build is and how strong the motor is it's possible for it to stop so quickly that the cutoff lever is still disengaged which will lock the trigger, forcing you to switch to auto to get it moving again. depending on the setup this might happen very rarely, or so frequently it locks up basically every shot. this is one of the reasons i tend not to suggest mosfets with just active brake (active brake is necessary for fancier setups using precocking).
  14. that is definately a new one. been stabbed plenty of times by springs and various pokey bits but never a piston......
  15. didn't even notice that, the pneumatic blowback system is godwaful, although granted easy enough fixed with a cylinder change.
  16. i think the main issue is the camo, regardless of how good or not a particular paint scheme is, you're ultimately limiting your market to people who not only want a gun in that configuration, but who also like the specific paint job. unlike parts paint is a bugger to remove so people are less willing to take on a painted gun with the intention of then stripping the paint. there's also the issue of it having work done to it, whilst the parts themselves may have some value (eg the aster is going to add value), there's always the risk with a modified gun especially when the work hasn't been done by a big name tech. some people who are tech savvy themselves might not care as they have the confidence of fixing any issues themselves, but folks that aren't so tech savvy may be wary in case they end up with a lemon. it's also worth noting that different people will prioritise different parts and value them accordingly. for example my personal tastes mean that the hicaps, sling, battery, foregrip and suppressor are all parts that will either end up unfielded in my parts box, or are something i'll have to sell on, so the sale really boils down to £190 for a raider, 3 midcaps and an aster as well as adding the cost of a new barrel to revert back to the stock length. granted that will vary wildly depending on the particular person viewing the ad, for example someone who doesn't mind hicaps would see some value in a couple of extra mags, but it's still something to consider.
  17. Here's some pics, this is for a heavily short stroked 18:1 build so you may need more/less precocking depending on your specific setup: Page 1: Note the top box i have set to auto, its just the light is flashing and i cant seem to get the pic to have the light on Page 2: Got the flasher this time, note this is on 3 coarse bars and the first fine bar in this particular case.
  18. really the main difference is gonna be the precocking time, at least assuming you're not doing any burst fire shenanigans. i'll dig out the jg later on and grab some pics.
  19. Hey we're discussing the really important issues here.....
  20. np, let us know how it goes, i can grab some shots of mine if needed to see where the settings are at rather than me stumbling through descriptions based on memory.
  21. dont think a spring is a good idea: the dragonuv has a faux gas piston that works on 2 springs (one biases it back, the other holds the slack) that in theory is meant to have the piston reciprocate when the bolt cycles, but all it acheives is making the gun go sproingoingoingoing every time you fire it. i can see this working out the same way.
  22. yep, it's why i've subbornly refused all these years to get a titan until very recently, only did it because i'm the kind of person who gets annoyed at not having precocking after firing auto and because frankly i've been spoiled by years of hpa trigger response.....
