  1. Possibly. But very difficult to get. Thst the feedtube on the pdrc is built into the shell. Would be very difficult to marry up everything. I already have a V1 and V6 gear box at hand to at least test before drilling or purchasing anything.
  2. This is 1:1 scale. But the dimensions of the Real Steel x95 is different to the Tavor. The Tavor gearbox is too long to go in this one. https://www.kotte-zeller.de/umarex-iwi-x95-advanced-komplettset-aeg-6mm-bb-schwarz Price has gone back up though to about 60 euros.
  3. We have made a few more measurements. A 330mm Inner Barrel would be the longest length barrel we could go to. With an AK style hop unit inside we will have about 195mm of length for a gearbox without extending the buttpad. We surmised that a Real Sword T97 Gearbox, a V6 P90 gearbox and believe or not a V1 TM Famas gearbox would be the best candidates. Because of the magwell we had to strike the T97 gearbox from the list because the motor cage will be in the way. The V6 is shorter then the V1, but too wide where the motor is to fit in the body, we would either need to turn the motor and thin out the motorcage; or mill out part of the body a bit, which is already looking a bit thin around there. The V1 is slightly longer then the V6, but thinner all the way down. We may have a slight impeding with the mags on the gearbox but we'll have to see. Luckily I have a spare V1 Famas Gearbox so that could keep costs down. So we may be going down the V1 TM Famas Gearbox route! Though we wont completely take the V6 off the drawing board as they are a much easier gearbox to work with and get parts.
  4. Some investigatory work has been completed. My tech has said that the gearbox is pretty much all proprietary, Gears, Air seal components etc. The only things we can do in its current guise is to reshim, mosfet, New O-Rings, new barrel and bucking. It would be possible to change the hop unit to something more standard if we re-arrange. Most likely an AK unit as they are quite small and the BB tube will be in the right place. We might be able to put in a V6 gearbox or even a Real Sword T97 gearbox with a little rearranging. We just need to get some gearbox dimensions and will look further into it.
  5. Here are some of my thoughts. I got mine for 42 euros from here. The price has gone back up a bit but still good price. https://www.kotte-zeller.de/umarex-iwi-x95-advanced-komplettset-aeg-6mm-bb-schwarz
  6. X95 me. Plastic fantastic, inside and out.
  7. So the X95 LPEG has come through. Bit of backstory, my tech and I were shooting the breeze about whether this could be worked on. Lots of people have asked online but very few have done much apart from changing the barrel. Some people have claimed to HPA'd them, but I am not massively interested in that direction. Put in the back of my mind as it probably wasn't worth the 100 euros. Come to present day and I picked one up for just 42 euros from Germany. I couldn't pass it up. The intention is to use this as a sniper secondary or use in ultra close CQB (I dont want to hurt anyone too badly). First impressions: It's the same quality plastic as my full size Umarex Tavor. IE cheap but roughed up to make it seem like Nylon reinforced. It's very lightweight at only 1.2kg and takes my PTS EPM mags. Definitely polycarbonate gearbox and RC car motor. The mag release is plastic and definitely a bit suspect so will have to treat it gently. Shimming is pretty awful sounding. Luckily the hop it actually variable rather then just on and off as is described online. Though it's clear while the hop arm definitely can provide alot of pressure, the bucking itself is very hard so wont hop much. Fires at 220 FPS on .2s and overhops them even with no hop set. With hop set on full the FPS drops down to just 140 FPS. It lifts .25s like a champ, but falls slightly short at hopping .28s. With a bucking change it shouldn't be a problem. Range of this is... actually quite impressive considering. The Aim: Get this firing between 270 to 300 FPS reliably without destroying the gearbox within a few skirmishes. I love using my TM Aug which is fantastic range wise at only 270fps so that is ultimate goal. What can be changed with current knowledge: * Change the barrel for a ZCI 6.02 tightbore barrel, Longer then the existing barrel which is shorter then it could be. The X95 will likely take 340mm. Hopefully this should bump up the FPS by quite a bit without changing the spring. * Improve air seal with existing components, new O-rings etc. * Get a replacement Neo RC Car motor. There plenty about, but need to identify the exact size of the one inside this. RPS is just awful, easy to lock up the gearbox on semi * Change bucking to something like a Maple Leaf 50 degree Macaron and 0hm nub. May need to do some modification to whatever the hop arm is inside, but its probably doable. * Basic Perun non AB Mosfet and all new 16AWG wiring and Deans connector. * Existing gearbox will be reinforced in impact places with epoxy. What we will be looking into to see if its possible: * We will check to see if we can somehow shoehorn a V6 box inside it, but its highly doubtful, let alone setup a trigger system. * Check That the air seal components can be replaced, if the Gears, Bushings, Cylinder, Cylinder Head and Nozzle and piston can be changed we will probably change them to metal ones. But keeping the Piston head plastic and sorbo it right up to reduce impact. This probably wont be an overnight project though, so updates will be few and far between!
  8. Ugh. Nothing to do tomorrow. Anyone going airsofting in the London area i can hook up with?

      Ta mate

Bit of a nightmare getting there due to the train closures though! 😞

  9. I have actually spoken to the same guy. He made it run on a 11.1v lipo and is still running 2 years on. In the end that, a Hop rubber change, barrel change and modification to the hop unit itself is all he did. There will be a build thread on this at somepoint I am sure!
  10. Unlikely, a V6 gearbox might be possible, but will likely protrude out of the back. Many people online have asked if its possible, no one has confirmed or denied. However some people claim to have HPA'd it, though if I were to spend that sort of money I would need to sort out the Hop unit to be adjustable rather then On/Off. This is mostly for CQB or a lightweight (Only 1.2kg) sniper sidearm throwaround. As long as this hits out to 35 metres i'll be happy!
  11. This quite possibly could be one of the best/worst purchases I have ever made. Musing with my tech the other day about the upgrading possibilities of the Umarex MTar X95 Plastic Polycarb gearbox LPAEG. Figured I might give it a go if the price is right. Figure the RC Motor can be replaced with a neo RC motor. Barrel can definitely be changed for a longer tightbore to bring up the 230 FPS up to 250-260. Sort out the compression and might even top 270 without changing the spring. Hop unit is on on/off only dealy, so will be looking at a setting to lift .25's or .28's. Managed to find one on a German site for only 42 Euros, 10 euros postage. A 5 euro discount for orders over 50 euros so grabbed an Element piston head whilst I was at it. Here are some internal photos of another one...
  12. Possibly. Only on full auto though. Never done it on semi.
  13. It's not that the grinding was bad, it was just that this issue I have been experiencing with EVERY V3 gearboxed rifle I have upgraded was all bucking related rather then Nozzle... Might as well get an unmolested replacement to not have consistency issues down the line. I wish the AP ones cost as little as 5
  14. Another SHS G36 Air Nozzle to replace the AirsoftPro one I filed down without needing too... And another 3 Maple Leaf Macaron 50 degree rubbers and 4 Shore 70 nubs.

Balls. Well I still have two other rifles that need looking at that already have replacement motors ready from yourself. So I have enough to tide me over!

Any motor shaped packets turn up this morning?
  17. My TM M9 U.S is making a quiet popping a second after I fire. Is this mags or the pistol? I presume I need to lube or clean something. Any ideas?

I had something very similar recently with my G18C, needed just a touch of lube around the loading nozzle and return spring and a bit of "movement" to settle it in. Maybe worth a try. I hadn't lubed/maintained my G18 for a year prior to this.

  18. The SVU is very special. I love the look of the new Mlok tan version as well!
  19. Hate em if you want, but some of these are just ICONIC.
  20. Ah shes lovely mind! My tech actually doesn't mind the gearbox at all, 4 gears... yes. So you cant change gear ratios very much. But its actually easy enough to work on from what I understand. Needs upgraded Air Nozzle though, existing one was rough cut and didn't have an O-Ring.
  21. Finally got all the bullpups together for the first time. Most are as fully upgraded as can be. The Tavor, PDR-C and the Ares Soc-AR are next to be upgraded.
  22. Newbie Suppressor question. Many suppressors for Airsoft call themselves "Fake Suppressors" Is this because they don't actually suppress sound or because they are not used on real firearms?

Reason I ask is that I want to get a suppressor for my bolt action to help dampen the sound somewhat. The only suppressor I own is just an empty metal case and I am unsure if this is what is meant by a "Fake" supressor" Do any suppressors work?

      AK47frizzle

Foam filled "suppressors" do reduce the sound. The air that comes out makes a noise and masking that helps a bit. If you fire your empty gun with and without holding your finger over the barrel, i'm sure you'll be able to tell.

oil filter is supposed to work on actual firearms

so on that basis if anything is REALLY going to work

it will be one of those bastards

      (google oil filter suppressor)

most suppressors just change or slightly dampen the sound

they are like farts, some are more quiet than others

and love is like a fart...

if you try to force it too much - it will probably be shit

you could a piston brake or silicone pad over sorbo can lower the piston slap...

      https://www.airsoftsniperforum.com/43-longrange-aegs/9062-guide-cylinder-head-damper-remold-bye-bye-sorbo.html

often wondered about all those baffles/padding etc...

but it must work of a sort coz going the other way...

Don't buy a daft sound hog or FireHawk tip to become a loud annoying player on the field...

Just cover/tape up a M4/M16 flash hider to make a massive CRACK for no costs at all

So in theory going the other way some sort of "venting" or "slots" as well as the dampening material inside should perhaps dissipate the dulled sound ???

NB: this is just a theory based upon the M4 CRACK you get if you cover the flash hider

(try it - really makes a loud crack)

So if an enclosed hider amplifies then maybe - just maybe a vented sponge might just might be a little more effective too perhaps

Dunno - but I did wonder about all this crap coz most of it just changes the sound of the air, yet most of us still have grindy AEG's making the most sound

The padding deffo does "something" though

if you unscrew one them cw/ccw suppressors, pull out the spring/padding

it makes a friggin' amplified CRACK too...

just wondered if a cheapo slotted or swiss cheesed one would maybe be more effective ???

ignore almost all of this coz I'm just talking crap coz I'm bored atm

    4. Skara

      Skara

You want to dampen the sound?

Unless you have an airbrake I suggest to glue/pressure fit a rubber door stop onto the cylinder head, so that it dampens the impact of the piston head. An alternative would be to use a big fat o-ring in place of the door stop.

Did it on my Striker and it killed the sound so much I can easily run without a suppressor and still be quiet as hell.

On a suppressor there are a few things you can do.

Scotchbrite disks in place of foam and plastic/rubber baffles.

A fart flap helps a lot in lowering the sound but it needs to be done right otherwise it'll just throw your shots way off.

Also, something that most 'softers don't care about is a correct volume ratio for the bb weight.

  23. Found a Forearm picatinny rail I didnt know existed for the standard Tavor handguard. 12 euros later...
  24. Great photo of myself with the T97B, Airframe, Laser cut MBSS vest and the french camo. Note I am covered in Burdock balls! Credit goes to @ImperiumBattleGrounds and @Atdarzairsoft
  25. Have to ask how much this would cost? Or if sold, how much to build another? Could really do with this in my FAMAS loadout...
