  1. The Ares one if pretty terrible in terms of trigger and weak gearbox design. As in, cracks in the front of the gearbox within a few skirmishes type weak. The King Arms one is considered to be infinitely better. Not alot of King Arms one out there as they were fairly limited run. If your Italian is any good then there is one available here. https://www.softair-italia.it/l1a1-type-king-arms-p-1024.html
  2. You are worrying too much! Maintenance gas just has extra silicon in it to help keep the O-Rings lubricated, you can use it to fire rounds if you want. As a rule of thumb use the Maintenance gas when you store the mags, but there is no problem if you fire a few shots off on it. Inhaling whilst using it indoors wont do anything to you (If it did then Indoor CQB venues would have a real problem!). You aren't exactly huffing it direct from the can. Its essentially duster gas which is used to clean PC keyboards etc, they add a little bit of Silicon to keep rubber moist and that's it. Stick with the 144A and you will be fine. Just use the button release on the mag to empty the current gas inside.
  3. Making a few logic jumps here. But it's likely trigger trolley not connecting to the contacts until right at the end of the travel. This happened on my T97 once where I just held down the full auto trigger on a test for a little too long and it MELTED the plastic around the metal contact on the trolley so much that the metal sunk into the trolley. So it wouldn't hit the trigger contact. So I reckon you need to either clean up or replace the trigger trolley and/or contacts. If you get a basic mosfet installed whilst its being fixed it can prevent the heat and carbon build up that causes this.
  4. You can wear what you want, just don't be tempted to wear insignia or awards etc. Just the Clothing is fine. If the clothing has integrated name tags then that is usually fine as well. I run French Foreign legion kit, I can wear a beret no problem, but just not the badge that goes on it.
  5. Well I am getting a bit more serious into sniping with the impending arrival of a new SRS Covert 16", a PSO-1 scope for the SVU and new Vector Optic 3x39. I just cant afford to get fogged up or will ruin a round. I am similar with grease "chuck it on and leave it"
  6. About time I jumped on the bandwagon. Order placed for some Heroshark Speartooths in Hexmesh.
  7.  My XM8 is now Negative Airsoft Famous!

@ak2m4 Get them to anodise it. A lovely gold finish that you can only see in the bottom of the magwell. :)

That's doubly disappointing then, as CYMA can churn out perfectly decent stuff.  Maybe just getting to the end of life on those moulds.

Wouldn't it be a laugh (sadly, not for you) if CYMA were fobbing off their bad castings on Dytac. It'd have a certain ruthless logic to it - use the best stuff in your own gear, and put the junk out under someone else's brand.

@Rogerborg and Dytac charge twice the price! 😉

  8. Dare I ask, how much did that set you back?
  9. No worries mate. I started when I was 32! Now 35 and I am carrying around LMG's and such. I whine about it all the time though!
  10. As quite rightly pointed out by my tech friend Ares actually did many of these so called innovations some years ago. However it is Ares, so the implementation was probably quite off!
  11. The gearbox has come together. Seems quite well shimmed. The reversal noise I heard when firing in semi was the gear train reversing, not because of the ETU but because the AR Latch spring was the wrong shape for the Gearbox. Looked like a standard V2 style which was not engaging the bevel at all.
  12. Oh I dont regret buying it. I managed to get it for much cheaper then what they go for in the UK ( I paid 320 quid brand new). It did work ok when I got it, just not very accurate, only knew about the piston issue once it was opened, I always plan to upgrade my rifles before purchasing anyway. When the goal is to get one of every AEG bullpup, I dont mind so much. Ares QC is usually really bad on their air seal components, M4 style rotary hop unit and poor design of the gearbox shells (See the L1A1 fiasco) However at least Ares push the boat out and bring us designs that no other manufacturer will touch, so there is that at least!
  13. Heya gents. A tech friend is working on my Ares SOC-AR. Thought I would pop up some info of the internals as well as photos because of how little there is about these rifles in terms of upgrading. Reasons for upgrading was because A) I dont trust Ares QC, B) Looking for longevity, C) Bring the Rate of Fire down as it is over cycling then the ETU auto corrects, D) Accuracy is god awful because the stock Ares Hop unit is just the worst. First of all, three of the six screws holding out outer barrel in place were rounded out from the Factory. More Ares QC! The gearbox unplugs from the Trigger/Selector Sub Assembly which makes things easier. The stock motor is a standard balanced motor, ferrite magnets. A bit disappointing considering the price, but not unsurprising from Ares. Ares ETU, Three big power MOSFETS, Top one is for AB. Decently powerful Microcontroller brain. Back of the ETU, Capacitor and Cycle-Detection Hall-Effect sensor. Gearbox looks similar to the Ares Tavor and PDR-C box. Tech reckons the motor is angled like that to accommodate the sling swivel sockets. He also makes an observation that the molds for the body castings must have cost an absolute fortune considering how intricate it is. This is all one casting, pockets, voids etc. Likely an eight part mold. It's just a shame that Ares made it out of the cheapest pig slag metal. But costs had to come down somewhere. Stock gearbox, Air seal was... Ok which is good for Ares, however the piston was damaged, premature engagement has pushed the rack up into the piston body. Note the fracture. Ares gears arent noted to be the best, so decided to change them out for some G&G's. However needed to install a new magnet into the new sector gear for the ETU to work correctly. With a bit of force... The Sector and spur gear were mounted on stainless bushings with the Bevel being on a bearing, these were all switched out for Hardened steel bushings for longevity. Along with a SHS all steel racked piston. Which was then swiss cheesed. First permanent mod was to the gearbox wall near the pinion motor. A small chunk had to be chopped away as the new gears were slightly wider in diameter then the stock ones. Bushings and gears went in as well. Next step is to run the new motor SHS Neo 16TPA motor in a little bit before installation and putting the gearbox back together. Other parts to install are a MaxxModel Air Nozzle, MaxxModel Hop unit, new 420mm Prommy barrel, Maple Leaf Bucking with Ohm nub.
  14. Found the M60 and MK43 for 300 euros stocked in Italy. https://www.freeshot.it/catalog/c/40/d/AK
  15. You know I haven't got a clue how we won the first two games. I was convinced we were soundly beaten! It was so good getting a 7-8 killstreak sneaking up behind at the tire fort near our spawn and sweeping through them with the LMG. Most of them were the multiglams. One complained that it shouldn't have been allowed as I didn't use a Bipod  Bless, Al and I have only been together a few times and now considered Old Fashioned!
  16. It certainly did in the first game! Unfortunately the site has a 1 second burst rule even for LMGs. So it wasnt as effective as it could have been. Looking to run bolt actions in the next couple of games.
  17. The M16A3 had the nade launcher too. Nightmare lugging it around! I'll keep it up 😉
  18. I know mate 😞 i have been working hard on repairing my non bullpups. So need to put them through their paces. Brought the heavyweights out in the M16A3 and the MK43.
  19. After a few months absence, the SE Tour reviews are back! Reporting back from Gunman Tuddenham!

  20. Site Name: Gunman Tuddenham Contact details: 07711 774461 Website Address: https://www.gunmanairsoft.co.uk/ Facebook Page: https://www.facebook.com/GunmanTuddenham Site Address: Cavenham Road, Tuddenham, Bury St Edmunds, IP28 6SE This one is stretching the definition of SE Tour Review being that is so far north. But it was one of the first sites to advertise they were open for business due to Covid 19. I was joined by fellow AFUKer @Albiscuit to visit the site. We attended on 04/07/2020. You would be living under a rock if you haven't heard of the Gunman brand or sites. Well established and with a following. I had attended one of their events at Reforger last year, I was less then impressed of the running of the game that weekend, so was keen to see if that followed through onto one of their own sites. General reviews of Tuddenham are mixed, some going to far to say it was a bit bland. The site is a small mixed Urban/Woodland site in a relatively picturesque area, though the site itself is bordering on a massive pig farm. The site is in the middle of no where and is only really accessible by car. It is a site with some character, safe zone is in an old building based right next to the car park. It has a good mix of grassland, woodland and urban style CQB. There are a number of buildings on the south side called the village, the woodland and grassland was quite overgrown due to lack of use and had lots of Nettles/Stinging nettles. Elevation is minimal, though there is a gentle slope running up from the South and East to the safe zone. No water features. Short and medium distance engagement. Restricted numbers due to Covid 19. Good: Marshalling: No complaints here. Marshalls were on it all day, made sure that people stuck to the rules and helped younger players out. Clearly a team who knew eachother quite well. Safety Brief: Quite a long safety brief, covered pretty much all aspects (Bar one that affected me, gunhits!) It was very comprehensive and included a COVID 19 section. Average: Play area: Whilst overgrown was quite varied. The urban aspect was interesting with multiple concrete buildings which are hidden amongst the undergrowth, multiple entrances and exits through windows and doorways. Adjacent to the Village was a set of storage containers, crates and barrels so you can flank around the buildings. The woodland section was quite dense with low and high areas of vegetation. The grassland section was somewhat overgrown with long creepers and very mature nettles ready to sting! It was difficult to navigate some of the paths, but it did make things more interesting. Chrono: A mandatory chrono was in affect, however none of the guns were marked. AEG FPS limits are a 350FPS. DMR is a low 450FPS with 30m MED and a delayed follow up shot (Wait until the previous shot has landed before firing again) and Bolt actions are 500 with a 30m MED. Chronoing on whatever bb weight you brought. Value: £30 is a little steep for the site with no food, but not out of the ordinary. Shop: Had a small selection of pistols and rifles on display, a wide selection of BB weights (Geoffs) and gas. Perfectly fine, though nothing special. Parking/Safe zone: There was enough parking available for the 30 or so players that turned up. We were setting up out of the car due to COVID 19, could probably have held a few more cars had it been normal times. Parking was right next to the actual safe zone. Clientele: Most people were quite friendly when playing. We bumped into AFUK stalwart @EvilMonkee after he asked after @Albiscuit's AFUK patch midway through the day. We stuck with him for a bit. There was a large team of MultiGlams on the site who got a bit frustrated, but otherwise no real problems with the clientele. Hit taking was average. Some good and some bad. Game modes: Were chosen to minimise contact, so were very simple games. We felt the second of the morning games didn't work quite so well, but the rest of the day went fine. Bad: Urban Rules: When playing in the buildings, if someone throws a grenade in one of the rooms, anyone who is in the building is dead. Even if you were in a completely different room altogether. It makes taking over buildings quite easy, removes the challenge and means there are very few firefights inside the buildings. We asked if this was because of Covid 19, but its a standard rule. We feel that nades should only kill whoever was in the room at that time. Conclusion: It was a fairly decent day, we had low expectations due to previous reviews and changes to the day because of Covid 19, but we had fun and came away with a smile on our faces. The site is overall fairly average with some nice bits. The biggest and easiest improvement that could be made is in the use of the buildings. If they can remove the current grenade rule we would definitely come back at least once more. Kudos to the Marshalling team for operating well in the COVID environment, we felt as safe as you can be during the day. This site is quite far for us as mentioned, it took about an hour and a half to get to from North London. (Not to mention the hour it takes me to get to North London from East London). There are other sites that does similar things better and for the same price. But if you live quite close to Tuddenham, it's definitely worth a visit for the urban section alone. Lovely to bump into @EvilMonkee as well! That was a surprise. Bullpup Watch: I do not recall seeing any at all. I didn't even bring any. 😕
  21. I use 1600Mah LIFEs. I really like them. They have a noticeable improvement in ROF over 7.4v. Dead reliable and good for use in rifles that would double cycle on semi with 11.1v lipos but feel sluggish on semi with 7.4v Lipos.

  23. Gunfire have them in stock and slightly cheaper at the moment. Depending on the length you wanted.
  24. I am quite partial to some AirsoftCamMan. He plays pretty fair and his content is slightly less clickbaity. Having met KM a couple of times, approachable guy off the field, a real B*****d on the field/Youtube.
  25. Heya. How much would you charge postage to mainland UK?
