TM G17 Gen5 MOS upgrade parts

A bunch of bits arrived from HK to test. more JDG magwells, cowcow guide rod angry gun RMR mounts. the JDG magwells are frustrating. They look great, but you have to take a dremel to the inside of the Magwell so that it doesn’t compress the Magwell. If you don’t, it grips the Magwell making it hard to remove the magazine. CCT guide rod arrives pre assembled and all you have to do is install the short strokes if you desire. Easy to install. Angry gun rmr mount is solid 👍🏽2 points -
As an HPA DMR enjoyer... I completely agree with you. Don't swap your AEG DMR to HPA because it won't improve on the performance of a well-built AEG DMR outside of making it quieter. The preconception that some people have that HPA is some magic propellant is silly because it's propelling the BB with exactly the same idea as an AEG; compressed air pushing a BB through a tube. It just differs on how it produces that compressed air. If you have a well set up AEG DMR, keep it that way. I definitely see improvements in range with my bolt actions over my DMRs. With my measure for effective range at the range that I test my builds on, my bolt actions at 2.32J I would say the effective range is 75m and my DMRs at 1.88J are 70m. Bolt action I can also hit 85m fairly easily, whereas for my DMR it comes to hitting the 75m target fairly easily, with the 85m target being a bit of a stretch and involving a bit more luck. At the end of the day, 2.32J on a .48 is more than 1.88J on a .43, and I do see that 5 - 10m increase in range. How often does that come up? Not too much, but I find it also helps with doing the silly long distance archery shots of 100m+, though there's definitely a large element of luck involved in those shots so it's not really worth the comparison. I can't compare when it comes to AEG DMRs, as my two DMRs are an MTW 308 (HPA) and an MWS in a mk12 kit (GBBR), but in terms of consistency I don't really see much difference when comparing like for like. My co2 powered VSR is just as consistent as my co2 powered MTW (they're not inconsistent like normal co2 guns because the regulator is still regulating as it would with an air tank!) and my green gas powered m700 is just as consistent as my green gas powered mk12 MWS. An AEG DMR built correctly will be just as consistent as a spring-powered bolt action built correctly in my opinion; it's just more difficult to build an AEG correctly than a spring or HPA gun, again in my opinion. The main benefit you'll get using a bolt action is you can build them to be a lot quieter than an AEG DMR. Whether spring, HPA or green gas powered, bolt action rifles can be made incredibly quiet because there's less moving parts and no motor whirring with each shot. I'm still shocked at how quiet my SRS is even though there's a bloody great piston whacking forward with each shot I take. The difference in range is definitely there, but I feel like the DMR mitigates that with the ability to make rapid follow up shots if your first one misses. If you miss with a bolt action, you then need to pull the bolt back and that movement can give you away, or it can give your target enough time to dive behind cover and start yelling "there's a sniper over there" at which point it can become a case of hoping the wild spray of full auto AEG BBs doesn't hit you, so that is a valid concern you have there. This is less pronounced with gas or (non-mechanical) HPA bolt actions because the bolt pull is effortless and can be done quickly, or super slowly and deliberately if they're looking at you but haven't spotted you yet, but it's still there. Personally, I would do a bolt action as well, because variety is the spice of life and I'm biased because I love bolt actions. However, it's not for everyone. An idea might be to get a Tac41 Lite Sport to see if you like it, and if you really do then flog it / keep it as a backup or for spares and get a proper Tac41, as the Lite Sport version is only £200 and the internals are all the same as the more expensive Tac41 models so all you really need is a new spring and maybe play around with the hop up. I wouldn't want one to do a proper, fully kitted out bolt action build with one though because the externals and general features aren't as good as the higher priced variants, but I feel like they're good for their price at least.2 points

CYMA G36C with: - bunch of SHS internals, piston, cylinder etc, and 22 TPA motor - PERUN V3 mosfet - Maple leaf MR hop with 6.02 XT barrel - M4 mag adaptor that I made (better quality and mag angle than store bought) - 3x 140rnd guarder midcaps Also included are 3x 190rnd EMG Lancer L5 midcaps but need a bit of work as they only feed half of the bbs because the follower gets stuck midway. Original magwell and hicap are included. Shoots consistent 1.05J, goes long and far with 0.32g, and very responsive with precock enabled and using 11.1v lipo. £160 posted via PF48£160

Hello! New to this forum but not to airsoft. First played 17 years ago and then regularly up until around 5 or 6 years ago. My youngest son has just got into it so I recently dusted off all the old kit. Fixed up my old CYMA M14 which is still reaching ridiculous ranges even with the loss of a few fps. That was a good purchase, I think I only paid about £90 for it back in the day! I've enjoyed the couple of games we've been to so far, I just don't move as fast as I used to. I look forward to participating in the forum.1 point -

I looked into it for my well mp7. From what I read it's alot of work for little if any gains so not really worth it1 point -
There is not enough volume in the cylinder to support a longer inner barrel. You would likely make things worse.1 point

Gas rifles are expensive to get set up, with mags costing from around £40 to £50 a pop and only holding up to 50 bbs you'd need a few. Also with GBB guns you need to be far more proactive with maintenance. However they more than make up for this by being more fun. This lower capacity mags means you've got to pick your shots rather than dump rounds into every bush that moves so hits are far more satisfying. As @pyromancer6posted GBB pistols are a great way of getting into gas guns. They're also extremely useful in cqb or thick bushes at woodland sites where their small size is an advantage when moving through tight spaces.1 point -

I wouldn't hold your breath with PB's amazing track records with Friday deliveries.. (at least in my experience lol) Gas rifles are inferior pure-performance wise to a decent AEG but have the added benefit of being cool as fuck alongside reinforcing good habits which'll make you a better player in the long run (ammo management, actually being a good shot lol, etc) alongside being much cheaper to run ammo wise because you're not just wanking off 220 round midcaps in ten seconds and actually have to make your shots count which'll make it last longer - decent gas rifles usually have good-enough hop systems to utilize heavy ammo out of the box which'll make your 30~ rounds more consistent compared to other out of the box AEGs (although this depends on gun to gun) Gas pistols are an excellent gateway though as they're relatively inexpensive, widely used, usually have a fun & satifying manual of arms for extreme larping around the house and AEPs are, well - AEPs. Would recommend one down the line for sure, esp. so if it's a common platform such as a glock or capa so you can actually get aftermarket support if things go wrong (**cries in USPtism)1 point -

Good luck with it. I have one and I've just kept mine stock because they're a pain to work on and you won't push much more out of it. You can increase the power a little, but I've heard that the gearbox casing won't take it long term and will eventually crack, and good luck getting a new one if that does happen. However, I've heard that the psionic AEP rubbers are pretty good and you could combine that with a 6.03 inner barrel to increase the power a little bit without putting any extra stress on the gearbox, but I don't think it'll improve it by that much. Upgrading AEPs is horrendously difficult because of how they're built and the limitations of that, unfortunately. If you want an electric mp7 that has a bit more to give, then I've heard the VFC MP7 AEG variant isn't terrible any more, but I have no idea as I've never owned one. It is a full AEG though rather than an AEP.1 point

Oooof that looks rather tasty. Sure thing, should be here tomorrow and if it's not, then.. well I won't have a gun to threaten anyone with so I guess I'll wait. But I will be grumpy. Purchased a Cyma platinum AK74 AEG.. didn't realise gas sinks that much more money than AEG but I haven't done any homework on gas. I'm guessing the only benefit is that you get more of a realistic kickback from the gun idk. I might get a gas sidearm later down the line.1 point -

I've owned a few cyma guns over the years and the internals have all been great. Unfortunately the plastic bodies of the cheaper models can be a bit crap though but the platinum range are good.1 point -

Thanks, I'm not overly fussed about metal or plastic as long as it's good quality, happy to pay for that. And of course, it has to look & feel good I've seen Cyma Platinum is recommended but there are some people also contradicting this so it's hard to judge. I did see some LCT guns yesterday but wasn't sure about their reputation, you've given me some food for thought. Good point on the backup if I decide to mod.. I do intend to get a pistol sometime. That'll be another 3 weeks down the drain deciding what to get. Ay yeah I'd like to get a big boy support weapon too.. for now I've got my eye on this, potentially a winner https://www.patrolbase.co.uk/cyma-platinum-slr-airsoft-works-ak-74-aeg-kestrel-basic-etu1 point -

That’s about right - the fishing lure tritium vials you get are about 1.6mmx5mm. You can sometimes get watch specification tritium vials from Switzerland which are brighter. They tend to be a lot more expensive but it’s still cheaper than buying pre made tritium sights.1 point -
Sounds like you have a mature attitude so good start 👍 Stick to AEG for the beginning. I would say £250-£300 will get you a very decent performing & reliable BB slinger. Have a search in the forum for recommended first weapon and best manufacturers. (Obviously there will be a lot of M4/AK but might mention things to think about like attachments etc) Remember that all AEGs work with the same basic mechanism so the shape doesn't affect performance. Even barrel length may not guarantee better performance or accuracy. Higher quality components (cost) will generally improve performance out of the box but its not guaranteed either and there is generally a diminishing return the higher the cost. Basically, look for the style/shape you like the look of most and then research which one to buy. Don't rush into modifying. Its usually best to start that when you have at least 2 weapons so you have a backup.1 point

Letting a mate borrow the A1 for a battlesim this weekend, have dropped it back to the short barrel to make it a bit easier for CQB and swapped the stock as the old school one is getting loose. Would love to have just an interchangeable set of upper receivers for this but it’s a nightmare because I’ve had it front wired.1 point -

Scope and magnifier just for show and not included* As real as it gets! Puts a smile on your face, fun as hell to shoot and see all the shells ping out the ejection port. Collector bought a few months ago fired twice then kept on display these are £1200 and 30 metal shells (not used) cost £112 new. These things as far as I can tell come into the UK once every 2 years at best. Purely for the collectors or film makers out there because I would absolutely NOT recommend airsofting with this. The plastic shells are considered temporary because they will eventually distort and jam the gun hence the reason I bought metal shells. Co2 bulb will clear approximately 1 and half mag before it needs changing which is why most owners go the HPA route. Happy to chuck in a load of co2 bulbs too. Aluminum build with steel reinforcement for the high ware areas and fitted with an Angry gun mini mock silencer, original furniture will be included too. UK only£850
