Scammers

As much as you can try and lock down a forum and add as many hoops as possible for a scammer to jump through, someone who knows they can get free money from people will become an athlete at jumping through hoops. The best defence is you becoming suspicious of absolutely everyone you don't know personally. If someone came up to you in the street and said they would give you a watch in 3 days of you gave them £200, would you hand over the cash, no of course you don't, but some people do, that's why this guy is sending everyone a Pm because 1/10 people will bite but wouldn't you feel a bit more comfortable knowing that money has a string attached to it and if things went sour you can pull it back? That's what PayPal goods and services is.... I don't know how many times I've seen posts from people saying they sent some random person money through friends and family or via bank transfer because the seller wanted to save on fees, those fees are there to protect you... Not them I don't wish to toot my own horn or jinx it but in the 20 years I've been playing and the 700+ guns and countless bits of equipment I've bought no one has ever scammed me but maybe that's because my due diligence is so high, before I send anyone money I read their full profile, I scan all their posts, I see what guns they've sold in the past, I read all their feedback, I see how long they have been in the site, I try and find their Facebook profile..... I want every single bit of information I can find before I hand my hard earned money over to a stranger and if that person is new to the site but genuinely might have that product, I'll ask them to take a photo of the item with them holding a can of spam.... A literal can of spam, you want my money, go buy a can of spam, is that over the top? Maybe but it's my fucking money (this came up from a car forum over 15 years ago, guy claimed he had some super sick car and no one believed him and someone threw out this stupid idea to hold up a can of spam next to his car and he did, forum blew up, spam photo became a thing to prove said item was yours) Scammers will always come and go, you'll never get rid of them but please do everything you can to cover your arse by using G&S4 points -

That KJW KP09 is a handsome beastie, that'll go some way to scratching some of my Browning Hi-Power itch some day2 points -
Just throwing this out in a devil’s advocate kind of way: If you enforced a post count and a scammer abides, would we then be giving them some kind of false legitimacy? A questionable PM from a new user is a slam dunk, you might think a bit longer if they’ve got 50 posts. All buyer beware at the end of the day though.2 points

These have finally shown up as a preorder at Longbow. This is v3 of the MDR-X after the initial mess at launch, I think SB have shown some really good after sales service to their customers. the V3 has a lot of new gubbins including a decent mosfet with all the usual bells and whistles (pre-cocking, AB, etc). Preorder is on for £560 which seems crazy high to me, but still want one... What are anyone's thoughts on it?1 point

Either go with non rebadged AliExpress stuff direct. Some of it can be really good! A good halfway house for me is the Pentagon Aspis Ral. Really good quality vest for under 100. It looks fairly Gucci too.1 point

Playing about mounting my Kywi pouches with 1” velcro one-wrap and with some off cut paracord made this quick access TQ* mount. Pull down on the red handle and it is instantly accessible. Probably 1001 things you can do with one-wrap, need to order a big roll as so handy for strap / cable management. *don’t buy knock off TQs unelss you clearly mark them FAKE. If you carry a real one get some basic first aid training (hint: very little of it involves tourniquets!)1 point

I agree that metal slides are more realistic and fun so if perfect performance isn't critical then go for a metal one. I had a KJW KP09 and it performed really well so that's definitely a good choice. Most of Mine are WE and apart from the Hi-Powers they're great for price/performance. I even have a few from Vorsk and haven't had any problems with them. For plinking they all perform roughly the same so just get the one you like the look of. Important not to lube too much. Don't spray anything in the nozzle or barrel. And even though you haven't mentioned it I would advise to stay away from Co2 as they can be a lot of hassle/expense when they go wrong.1 point

As Rostock… above mentioned, be aware that TM pistols have plastic slides due to japanese firearm laws. They are great for actuall games. But if you’re goin for realistic backyard plinking at short distances you’d be better of with a metal slide. Go for something cheap that appeals to you, like a WE or KJW. Or even a Vorsk. At 10ft it doesnt really matter. As for lubricants just go with something Ptfe or lithium for metal on metal, silicone grease for plastic parts, dont overdo it. Have a read around, dont spray your entire gun with silicone oil. As for bb weight, well for garden plinking it doesnt matter much, .25 will do more then fine unless your garden is huge.1 point

I've received my GHK gen 5 today from a fellow member on here, the cerakote alu version. It's a really nice finish on the slide and really nice to shoot. I've put the patch to good work and it's gone to live with my GHK gen 3 steel The mags are interchangeable, with the the gen 5 mags being easier to release the base plate with a fingernail lever instead of just the press in button on the gen 3 mag1 point
