Having been In the lucky position of once owning real firearms AND had the miss fortune to have them shot at me personally I’m more than happy with the gun control in this country . I genuinely see no reason to own anything apart from what’s on the statutes right now , for me all the reasons and excuses that are always given to own anything else are simple just excuses not reasons . The right to defend ones self and home , in the past 10yrs how many people (bar old age pensioners who probably Couldn’t have defended them selves even if they had a gun) have died at the hands of a burglar ? There’s been several cases of the burglar dying at the hands of the home owner(the pikey who was stabbed 2yrs ago for instance ?) but the home owner ? I can’t think of any . Also as anyone who’s ever been shot at or seen someone being shot at unless you train day in day out for mths 90% of the population will just crap them selves/freeze/panic or just react totally incorrectly to the situation so that’s that one down in flames . The criminals still have them , yes they do but that’s what armed response are for , again in the past 10yrs how many random members of the public have been shot and killed by a criminal ? Plus have you seen the kind of guns that are frequently picked up by the police on ops ? 8 out of 10 are pieces of shit ! another burned argument . i should have the right to be able to own them as a good law abiding tax paying citizen , err no you shouldn’t , there plenty of things that joe public just shouldn’t and don’t have . Should ban alcohol and tobacco because of the number of deaths each year , now this one really is a puerile argument , most deaths from both these are self inflicted FFS ! when was the last time you saw a story on the news about some nutter kicking in the door of a school and making all the kids have a fag and a pint with him and kept them going till they all developed sclerosis of the liver and lung cancer and died ?!?! no one can deny the fact there just isn’t any real gun crime in this country plain and simple where as America is just beyond saving there’s just too many guns in circulation so they NEVER will solve it . In the UK since 1837 when the records first started and the present there’s been two reported school shootings , the first was in 1850 when a boy took his fathers old service revolver to school and shot two of his mates (he got transported to Australia for that one !) and Dunblane 1996 when 16 children and 1 teacher was killed and 15 others wounded , and what happened after that ? They banned private ownership of hand guns . Was the country flooded with armed criminals now the population were unarmed ? Nope nothing changed . you know how many school gun incidents there been in America since the year 2000 ? 347 ! That’s how many times law enforcement has been called to an educational facility to deal with criminal activity involving firearms . I’m sorry but that statistic alone show just how fucked up there gun laws are and how correct ours are as they are . I’m more than happy with what I’ve got thank you very much .😁👍2 points -

this is what happens when we can't shoot each other. stuck at home, watching random stuff on youtube and all the hate and anger that's normally spread amongst all the knobs out there doing one thing or another has become focused onto one guy who happens to be a well published example of many of said practices.2 points -
i wasnt trying to say thats what you were suggesting, just merely taking your logic and twisting it slightly. let me do it a different way using your first sentance quoted above: In the UK you need a licence to own a 'wild animal' https://www.gov.uk/licence-wild-animal (this covers big cats, wolves etc). now the news never seems to report about 'lunatics' getting hold of a puma and going on a rampage. but you hear about dangerous dog attacks all the time. surely we should open up ownership of large predatory mammals because clearly the checks are working to keep them out of the wrong hands? as an argument it makes no sence, a smaller crime number/reported news is not grounds for opening up possession to people that dont need a gun, or in this case a puma. the act of limiting ownership is always going to reduce its prevalence. knives sadly are needed for DIY work and to cook or eat with, you cannot really control that beyond the age restriction to buy them. but an 18 year old wanna be gangster is still going to be able to buy one, and i dare say under 18s would also find a way (kitchen drawers are a good place to look). The UK's vetting of gun ownership is clearly working to a degree. that doesnt mean we should open that up to everyone in the country in some pseudo american way resulting from paranoia of a british invasion (we cant invade ourselves). i dont know about the others here feel, but i like knowing or at least assuming that the only firearms i get in close proximity to on the street are in the hands of law enforcement. there are plenty of people i do know that would jump at getting a gun that i am so glad cant. If things open up, the first wave of people, which i think you would count under, go through the process of getting a gun for the sole reason of 'i want one'. Then a chain reaction akin to an arms race happens as other people would want one just because you have one. permeating the populace to a point where the likelyhood of a disgruntled employee or bullyed teen that isnt quite suicidal takes said legally owned gun and uses it illegally, with a death toll and effective range that a knife could only ever dream of, were they sentient. what we have now works because the number of legally owned guns in public hands is quite small compared to the population in general. They also need to justify why they need to own such a weapon and the weapon needs to be suited to the intended job (H&S at work act anyone?). So here its hunting, sports or pest control using small claibre rifles and shotguns generally with ownership skewing majorly to rural areas. As a general rule, farmers, to quote Hot Fuzz. there is no need for anyone to be rocking military style firearms in this country, i know badgers have a nasty bite, but it is still no bear. as for zombie knives and all those weird stylised things. i agree, they should be controlled and certainly not be supplied with a live blade. but we all know angle grinders would solve that for anyone who really wanted to sharpen it...2 points

Bollox they do , in one or two states they may but most there’s absolutely no system of checks made on private sales , store bought yes but private ? nada , last time I was over the pond I went to two gun fairs to see what kit I could pick up one in Nevada and one in Arizona and at both of them I could have bought anything I wanted (even with a dodgy Welsh accent And NO American ID of any sort) Just as long as I had cold hard cash in my hand , in most American states face to face private sales require no background checks all you need (and this is only if it’s required) is some kind of proof you have a firearms licence , AND in Nevada for instance you don’t even need that , all you need is a postal address ! Out of curiosity I showed interest in buying a revolver , gave my hotel’s address(circus circus on the Las Vegas strip) And the seller was more than happy with that FFS . So no thank you I for one never ever want a 2nd of any sort in this country , and I actually lost two pistols after Dunblane so I know what it’s like to own then loose real firearms .2 points

Following on from this, there is very little difference between 1J and 1.13J - an estimate of a couple of metres or so, give or take some fairy dust being liberally sprinkled around the hop unit. However not too long ago we as a community spent a considerable amount of time and effort (and the case of the retailers, their money) in proving to the Government (and others) that what we hold to be common practice is indeed safe. And it makes no sense to throw that away 🤷♂️2 points

Mws Vs Tipmann Vs Wolverine Mtw
sonofsammo reacted to Mike W for a topic
Hi, Just to weigh in and for some reference... I own a MTW... a tippmann and a p* fusion engine. All 3 are awesome for different reasons. 1. Tippmann. Awesome if you like to have recoil. I run a homemade tdc with home made nubs on flat hopped GG green. Also have light the trigger response and add a 3/4 spacer to buffer tube. . I run an EDGI widebore in this. This thing is soo much fun and scares the crap out of people as I have a sound hog on it. Range wise once the mechs warmed up it is not that far off my other guns,. I have lowered to ROF to about 20 on it . I wont go into externals as I have changed nearly everything that comes with it. 2. MTW. so light and a joy to use once you set the gun up but does take some tweaking of the settings to get it to run right . Mine runs a maxx unit modified to take my home made nubs and a flat hopped prommy purple. prommy stainless tightbore. Once set up this thing is just awesome and soo light when using . I have added a supressor to it and you can hardly here it now. Externally , I have changed everything that can be changed or added to lol. oh and its air consumption is really good as well. 3. P* fusion. I have had this thing for years and it never gets old. I modified it internally and externally over the years. It started life as a U.S import with a G&P body. I tend to take one normal hpa and my tippy with me and alternate between them throughout the day depending on whether I want recoil or not. Just for reference. I run 2 carbon tanks and fill them to 4k psi. I can go through both tanks in a day if am having too much fun ... Hope this helps with some of your question. I wont add anything about the MWS as not a fan of 30 rounds mags. But the gun does shoot very well :)1 point -

@GenuineGerman what are the gun ownership laws in the united Germany? I think that Germans by and large get most things right most of the time and have pretty sensible laws about most things like autobahns; drive as quick as you like/is safe but if you act like a prick we will throw the fucking book at you. It has, probably worthy of a thread of its own! It’s very interesting though because gun ownership is such a polarising issue and actually as a community of RIF owners who probably have more idea about weapon safety/personal accountability than most people (certainly MPs and the ‘ban everything’ crowd!) its fascinating to get other people’s take on something which to my mind is very black and white.1 point -

Totally agree with you bud 100% , BUT can also confess I’ve bought and sold more high-ends items (AEG’s , real kit , labeled items etc)The past year than any other year and I’ve been playing for over 20 !🤦♂️😂😂 My self and my team mates normally play once a mth due to work and every year go to the NAF down at ground zero (game play’s shit but I go for the social side and the crac with my mates) and this past year has REALLY shown me just how much I rely on it to decompress as do my team mates , my self and a couple of the others have quite high stress jobs and another has poor health so it’s his only escape from daily life . Looking back on it a lot of my purchases have been ‘projects’ , guns I wanted to change to a different model , kit I wanted to tailor or alter for a specific role/job things like that so makes me think am I doing this to keep involved with the sport as much as I can ? The amount of guns and kit I already had I certainly didn’t ‘need’ too buy any more ! Does get you thinking🤔👍 You are my hero ! To selflessly keep buying shit you don’t need just to keep these little business going you truly are a shining light in these dark days ! Actually you know what ? im going to thro my two cents out there... personally i agree that people in the UK should be allowed to own any kind of firearm they wish AS LONG AS THEY PASS THE RELEVANT CHECKS AND BALANCES my personal opinion is that being able to use a real steel firearm for target shooting is a fine sport that can help people relax and forget about the stresses of their working week... its just you, the sights and the target, the rest of the world falls away in the background. this is the reason i own an air rifle and would regularly go to a range (before this damned virus) but i just wish that i could shoot real guns over greater, more challenging distances where windage and gravity etc come into play. i also feel that being able to use real steel guns will help with the preservation of old classics, as well as educating people more about firearms. more education about firearms will then have the benefit of limiting misinformation feeding the knee-jerk "cancel all scary things" crowd. now, i can also see the call for gun restriction to make it harder for criminals to use them... but as has already been stated before, if someone really wants to break the law, then they will find a way and there is nothing that anyone can do to stop them, so why criminalise average, law abiding citizens just because one or two nutters MIGHT use a gun to commit a crime. i also dont think that we should let just anyone walk in to a gun shop and buy a machine gun immediately, however i do believe that those who have a number of years with clean records should be allowed to be able to earn the right to own such guns. im NOT suggesting we become as liberal as america and allow just anyone to buy a gun on a whim, but rather we keep the system of checks and balances that are already in place, just allowing law abiding gun owners the ability to own a greater range of firearms. and also keep in place the law that ALL gun sales must be brokered through an approved gun shop who will handle background checks and the transfer pa for example, a collector of ww2 guns can currently own bolt action rifles like the lee enfield, but cannot own an m1 garand... i also think that restrictions that are currently in place should also be extended. for example, current laws state that with the appropriate category of firearms licence and passing the right background checks and balances, we can own pistols (proper pistol, not a carbine-ised version with the coathanger stock and welded on smoothbore barrel) BUT the pistol has to be stored in the gun safe of an approved pistol range or section 5 firearms licence holder, so you ONLY have access to it on the range... now if someone wants to own, lets say a browning M2, then they should be allowed to do so, BUT it, or the critical parts that make it work, MUST be kept under supervision of a section 5 approved person or facility to limit access to it, and thus the chance for it to be used for criminal acts. all the above examples are simplified versions, due to the extreme complexity of firearms laws here in the UK, but with that level of gun control in place, i argue that a greater range of firearms should be made available to law abiding citizens, again, AS LONG AS THE APPROPRIATE CHECKS AND BALANCES ARE PASSED agreed. times are hard enough for retailers in general, not just airsoft ones... if everyone suddenly stops spending full stop, then it wont be just our favourite sport and suppliers at risk of going broke and disappearing. and just like @Adolf Hamster my spending hasnt stopped, but it has been significantly cut back1 point

Why shouldn’t people in the UK hold firearms if they choose to and pass all the checks and balances. Would you also stop people smoking and drinking as this is harmful for health and costs the country a lot of money each year? I also have carried firearms and been on a 2 way range and found having them a great equaliser. That’s why I advocate people being allowed to legally bear firearms. Granted I would like to see a system different to the US however people have the fundamental right to self defence if they require. Be that against criminals or a criminal state. (I’m not saying the UK government are criminals). My memories are of a criminal state with that guns pointed inwards and people would get shot just for wanting to cross a border.1 point -

13 states and DC require checks for all private gun purchases and two require them for handgun purchases only. Three states require state issued firearm permits for all private gun purchases and four require them for private handgun purchases. Therefore, a minority of states require some form of check or permit for private gun purchases. The huge gaping hole in Federal law is plugged by local rules; the exceptions are the states that do require some checks, not those who do not. One basic question: outside of certain extremely limited situations, why does anyone in the UK need to own a firearm? Just for the avoidance of doubt, I have carried firearms, have had them fired at me and have fired them at other human beings. That is why I like strict gun control laws.1 point -

Read up on the Private Sale Exemption, sometimes called the Gunshow Loophole. For private sales, any person may sell a firearm to an unlicensed resident of the same state as long as they do not know or do not have reasonable cause to believe the purchaser is prohibited from receiving or possessing firearms under federal law. What you think and the facts are two entirely different things. You cannot stop the lunatics; what you can do is make it more difficult for them to kill people; preventing then owning a gun does that pretty effectively.1 point -

Great points I think I could split hairs with you but that’s pointless. I think we can agree that licensing is a good things and that there aren’t mass shootings in the UK show it is working as well. To say I want a gun just for the sake of wanting one isn’t exactly true but I do see your point. I think we will have to agree to disagree but I believe in the right to bear arms and I’m not going to change me mind but I realise as well that in the UK we will never have a law or society that for the most part will think that same as me and I can live with that. Bad people will always find a way of doing bad things. im not going to harp on anymore about this to the relief of all but just add that more regulation means less freedom.1 point -

sonofsammo reacted to alxndrhll for a topic
Aye, fingers crossed someone that's used both a TIppman and an MTW can weigh in. I always find trying to be 'useful' in a comparison thread somewhat difficult because it's not a simple case of 'get this because it's generally regarded a good option'. I expect the MWS would require more maintenance than an MTW, though the maintenance on both is very easy. MWS has the benefit of recoil, but you're somewhat restricted to a drum mag to run it with HPA. With appropriate hop tuning I imagine performance is pretty equivalent, the MTW possibly more consistent because of the nature of how the system works and the way alignment is maintained. The MWS would end up needing more things to be replaced over time, but nothing overly expensive. Main consideration there is supply given how impacted stock levels are at present. That's about as much of a relatively informed comparison as I could give on those, though a decent portion of it is based on suspicions of using an HPA'd MWS formed from having used an MWS, and HPA... but never the two together.1 point -

Whilst I believe that we should have the right to legally bear arms in the UK I understand why we don’t and why people wouldn’t want that law in place. My point in a roundabout way is simply that more if we start imposing more regulations on rifs it will get to a point where they will be banned like in Australia. The government will simply pass one law ever now and again and before long we can’t go out anymore. The best way is to self regulate which is done fairly well at the moment but if the authorities hear discontent they will jump on it for political point scoring and we will all be classed as gun lunatics. with regards to buying weapons in the US I agree being able to buy a 357 at 20 but not being able to drink till 21 sounds stupid but I would argue alcohol and drugs are a larger public health issue that guns. there will be exceptions and lunatics but then anyone in this country can buy a knife and just go out and start stabbing. How can you stop the lunatics?1 point -
Wholeheartedly disagree with you there mate. Having a RIF is great fun, it looks cool and you can shoot your mates with it. You can’t do that with a real firearm. There is a reason why things like Sandy Hook don’t happen in this country, and it’s because any old knobhead can’t run round with a gun they bought at an indoor market with no checks or license or registration process.1 point
