    What should I get?

welcome but most of these questions can be answered by a little looking some excellent guides to many many newcomer's questions: but here is an extract: Join an Airsoft Site and, if you're over 18, get UKARA registered. If not, your membership still proves that you are an airsofter and some retailers will take that as defence against prosecution under the VCRA. Bear in mind that u18's cannot buy any airsoft gun, RIF or two-tone IF, but it is not illegal for an u18 to own a gun without hideous two-tone paint. Some retailers will sell a RIF to an adult accompanying a minor who has proof of being a skirmisher, but it is also not illegal for an u18 regular skirmisher to 'manufacture an RIF', ie strip the two-tone paint off (with Fairy Power Spray). Therefore, do whatever you need to do to get a Realistic looking Assault Rifle. The G&G Combat Machine range is probably your best bet, from Zero One if you need two tone, because they'll paint it for free, or Pro Airsoft Supplies because they only charge £10 to paint but also sell transparent bodied G&G's which don't look half as arse as orange or green. However CYMA are better for AK's and SRC for G36's. Check out Taiwan Gun too: they're Polish (EU) so there's no Customs charges - right now they're about the best prices for guns (14/01/14) and gunfire.pl are very good also. If you prefer a UK based seller (in case of breakdown for eg), the larger retailers (in no particular order: Zero One, Land Warrior, Airsoft World, Action Hobbies, Redwolf UK), tend to be cheapest but only for certain guns (can't really leave Fire-Support off a list of larger retailers, but cheap they aren't, and Wolf Armouries but their website is a shambles) - but it's also worth checking with smaller retailers who will often negotiate over the price/delivery/accessories taken from: Ian's guide to noobism on a tight budget. and loads of stuff here to read up http://www.airsoft-forums.co.uk/index.php/topic/12854-new-player-guides-info/

Troy M7A1 PDW CMMG VSBR w/ Troy TRX 9" I think these both look awesome. The FDE is sexy as fook. Favourite Pistols S&W M&P or FN FNP Any Kryptek (except for Typhon which I'm not so sure if I like or not) A-TACS AU or LE hydro dip

  17. The rest of my kit's the the post so here's the only bit I brought back from Ukraine,Also a nice opportunity to test out the newly repaired camera on my N900. My boots after a year and a bit of usage. They have about 3 or 4 layers of wax and scuff coat. Soles have gotten a very thorough wrecking in Ukraine, the cheese like rubber did not enjoy abandoned soviet industrial estates. Still usabel and grippy though, only the right boot has really suffered on sole wear. Will beat them to death by next summer so I can either get something newer and better,or maybe even have them resoled.

  20. Meh, I was a bit underwhelmed by the playing area to be honest - it's just a big forest with loads of paths, which are full of people hiding in trees so moving around is a pain in the tits if your unfamiliar with the site. Camping is good, plenty of room spare on the site. Only one big airsoft shop - it's still Zero One at the end of the day. A few people had bits and bats laid out 2nd hand.

    What should I get?

Pretty much what duck said. Don't buy from any website with bbguns in it, because generally they charge way over the price, lie about the stats and then when it breaks you will never get the returns policy. Main sites to buy from = Proairsoftsupplies.com zerooneairsoft.com landwarriorairsoft.com patrolbase.co.uk all of our sponsors and people like armysurplusandtoys and ak2m4 who are on these forums, they can generally give you a forum discount also tawain gun and there are a few others like JD that are ok, not brilliant... I bought off of zero one and you have to do a lot of paperwork for your first order but it is fine after that, just for safety precautions and everything, its good its not just a box to tick because that doesn't clear that you actually are 18 *cough*justbbguns*cough* My first proper gun was a G&G cm16 carbine, I got the carbine because I liked the idea of changing the stock and I just generally like it more, but personal preference seems to be most people like the raider so I imagine that will be you. I got the long, however the short would be more practical for me in terms of carrying it around, because I cycle to mates houses for garden games and you have to be careful about hiding so I have to carry a huge backpack on my back which fits it, ( a hiking one) and it's tough to cycle with. Battery wise - get a LiPo. I got the 2600mah off of component shop and it is a beast, also with the accucel digital 6 with power supply, you spend around £70 altogether however in the long run it will save you. LiPos are great becase they give more power fore less, last longer, are smaller and you don't have to discharge them, just keep topping them up. They don't go wrong if you use them correctly e.g plug in the balancer, and use a smart charger so they don't go over max charge. That charger has an LCD display, it can charge from lead acid to LiFe, it is great and I use it. Eye protection is something you don't want to go cheap with. if you are under 16 you have to have full face and a good bolle mask and a half mesh mask could set you back some money but could save your eyes. Don't get the cheap chinese ones, in case something does go wrong, it could be serious and you would then regret it. Paintball masks work fine as well, but they do get fogged up like any mask or pair of goggles, you just have to be careful. Clothing wise, indoor is fine to wear chinos and a top or whatever, doesn't really matter about camouflage, however if you are going to play woodland I would advise you to go down to your local surplus store and buy some old issue woodland kit or multicam, whatever fits you, but it will make a big deal rather than wearing bright green like I did on my first skirmish... Magazines and chest rigs wise, for your first few games I would carry a rucksack around with BBs in, put it down to play and refill your mags, after, thats if you have 2 or three mags. Depends at what site you are playing, with mine they don't mess around, 2 minute break so we don't go back to the safe zone, so I carried some BBs around which saved me a few times. I have probably missed some key aspects, and I am worried I am becoming a teacher with my essays, but that is really all I have to say, will add some stuff if there is something else I forgot to mention in this post

  22. Designated Marksman(s) Rifle. Not quite a sniper rifle, but usually an accuratised version of the standard service rifle used by a Designated Marksman (DM) to reach out to targets beyond the range of the rest of his team. In airsoft terms, this usually can be any gun which has been upgraded to circa 450fps dependent on site rules. Usually has to be locked to semi auto and some sites include a MED for DMR's. TL:DR (Usually)An AEG/GBB which has been tuned to be accurate beyond ranges of normal non sniper rifles OR to be more consistent.

  25. +1 on the scar and ofc in tan. It is something different to an m4 and has a relatively new and different design that makes it at and out but still be super speshul forsez operators gun. For a pistol it has to be a S&W M&P or HK45

  27. Yeah, they're really comfortable, fit my feet very well,a dream to walk in especially with some sorbothane insoles. Also some of the cheapest good quality goretex boots you can find, got mine for about 30 euro and the quality is far better than anything in the same goretex boot price range. Only thing I'd fault them is that the commando soles are not made of the strongest stuff in the world, but mine have survived 3 27 hour milsim games, lots of hiking and mountain biking and a soviet industrial estate before they started to come apart, added to that an Afghan tour before I got them. Cheapest place I can get them resoled wants 40 euro, which is a bit much for my tastes so I might get some german paras after the soles go on these, but I don;t think there are any goretex lined paras aside from ones I've seen from dodgy ebay sellers.

  30. I can vouch for the grange, they are a good site but not every one there is freindly. I will recomend West Midlands airsoft, they are a reasonably me site that has only had three skirmishes so far, but I have played at 2 of them. And both were absolutely brilliant. Great site with carried play zones and lots of dense woodland

  35. the seals normally go on gas/co2 mags green gas may not like real cold - co2 not quite so fussy I went for the CO2 hfc gc105 i think but is too powerful for sites 350fps limit as it fires like most co2 at 400+ new co2 bulb and she hits 440 and slowly depletes to zilch after say 100bb's thought they would be better than green gas to quickly change or refill in battle drop in another bulb when required between rounds/games rather than mess with refilling GG mags BUT yet again I screwed up - too powerful like I said - most CO2's can't be used as they just too powerful - often most sites don't allow coz even lowered power they are a bit varied on fps output from old to fresh bulb - bummer have tried to look at ways to lower fps by filing hammer down to not strike valve so much resulting in a reduced burst of CO2 - it lowers fps but not enough atm and if going too mad I can end with a pi$$ poor fps of say 150fps - but hey at least I didn't buy a £100 co2 and extra mag n stuff only to find out I can't use Green Gas pistols stay between 300 - 350 and are allowed no problem at sites some say GG can be a tiny bit more prone to valve problems than co2 and then there are cyma electric pistols that will never have valve problems coz the electric but cyma - glock is best model btw, only punch at about 200fps - but have auto which means hold trigger for say 10 shots per sec if ya want Not devastating electric power pistols, not flawless gas/co2 pistols either they all have their slight flaws and advantages over each other, as well as may only be used in skirmishes now n then - or a bit more often in cqb so yeah - the pistol area is a bit more of a minefield in deciding type and how much to spend I guess - yes some pistols are awesome but can be £150 even - jeez cheaper ones will be likely to break especially if you don't take care of them, spares can be a problem and mags can be hard to source for some too you gotta decide and take your chances Green Gas - can use propane but gotta buy this in bulk to save money and get all adapters n crap - so you can save a bit in running costs but you gotta spend a bit first, co2 bulbs they add up but more you buy the cheaper they get say 50 or 100 can be under 40p or less. Electric Cyma's - batteries are titchy so don't last long before you need to change/charge as well think that just about covers all types - what & how much is down to you in the end

  37. If it's just for back garden plinking then any co2 powered pistol is going to be about the same at that price, just don't be surprised if it breaks quickly. As mentioned before, avoid sites with "bb" in their title - usually have sub par customer service and products (but not always). Additionally if you order from overseas without a UKARA then your gun will be seized and more than likely destroyed. Even with a valid UKARA defence there's a risk of this happening.

    What should I get?

I wasn't expecting a FAL when I clicked the link....... Honestly? Why not. Most folk will say combat machine and they're right, they're a cracking first gun but don't get an M4 if you don't want an M4. JG do make some decent rifles although I'm not overly clued up on that model although I know there are plenty on here who will be. EBB might not be the ideal choice for a first timer though so maybe look for a straight AEG version. That blue isnt even that offensive.......

  39. pull down dust cover - it don't drop down on budget end G&G's and turn wheel a touch test fire and hopefully the bb's will travel straight rather than curve down/up adjust or zero you sights - rear sight mainly to now fire where your aiming etc.... that is really it - happy shooting hop-up upgrade maybe if you find your gun is not performing too well in a few months should be ok if new, give it barrel a clean at halftime - jeez have a look at some guides coz ian & others have put some work in these and are a goldmine of info for all of us http://www.airsoft-forums.co.uk/index.php/topic/12854-new-player-guides-info/

  40. Dream Army Double O-Ring Aluminium Piston Head w/ Bearings - £6.99 posted - khmountain_uk on fleabay I don't really trust the brand, but the Magic Box ones seem to have run out everywhere for the time being. The FPS increase from these has been around 20 both times I've tried the Magic Box ones, but that has also included regreasing with CT-2 and changes of hop rubber and/or air seal nozzle. There is no doubt though that they do provide a considerable boost, which can be useful in either bringing the power of a gun using an M100 spring closer to 350FPS w/ 0.2's or, if you are also running a TBB, allowing a spring downgrade which then gives a higher ROF / faster trigger response. Airsofting in the rain

I've got to say - if I'd wanted to shlep around the woods in combat gear carrying a gun in the pissing rain getting wet and cold for 8 hours at a time, I'd have joined the army. Snow intrigues me though. Cold I can do, cold and wet? Fuck that for a game of soldiers. (see what I did there?)

    National Airsoft Event

Just back. 1900 ish players was Urm interesting. For me and my personal view I would say I experienced much less cheating than last year. But with that number of people on site and playing just getting anywhere involved a huge firefight. Lots of bottle necks on the paths. My team played Saturday most of the day then only about half of us went out Sunday for an hour or two. After Only really playing the pit and milsims this year the number of two tones I saw in evidence spoiled things somewhat for me. Not because the player wasn't as good but sometimes it made things awkward for PID'ing targets. Eg. Delta (white tags) with orange two tone (orange is bravo) patrolling towards you. Can only see the gun as it's in front of the tag leading to blue on blue. Or you are sneaking through the brush and the guy down the line with the two tone gets spotted which gets you all shot. There was lots of good sportsmanship on show. I did a sneaky patrol through the ferns next to heartbreak and got 8 others in the back With single pistol shots. Each one either patted me on the shoulder, shook my hand or congratulated me as the went to re spawn. A guy apologised for putting a full auto burst into me from about 5m away. The social side of it is second to none for the airsoft games I have gone to. But unless they find a way to better coordinate the teams and keep the flow going I probably won't go go to many more. Our team is talking about maybe doing every other year and trying some of the other weekenders out.
