welcome but most of these questions can be answered by a little looking some excellent guides to many many newcomer's questions: but here is an extract: Join an Airsoft Site and, if you're over 18, get UKARA registered. If not, your membership still proves that you are an airsofter and some retailers will take that as defence against prosecution under the VCRA. Bear in mind that u18's cannot buy any airsoft gun, RIF or two-tone IF, but it is not illegal for an u18 to own a gun without hideous two-tone paint. Some retailers will sell a RIF to an adult accompanying a minor who has proof of being a skirmisher, but it is also not illegal for an u18 regular skirmisher to 'manufacture an RIF', ie strip the two-tone paint off (with Fairy Power Spray). Therefore, do whatever you need to do to get a Realistic looking Assault Rifle. The G&G Combat Machine range is probably your best bet, from Zero One if you need two tone, because they'll paint it for free, or Pro Airsoft Supplies because they only charge £10 to paint but also sell transparent bodied G&G's which don't look half as arse as orange or green. However CYMA are better for AK's and SRC for G36's. Check out Taiwan Gun too: they're Polish (EU) so there's no Customs charges - right now they're about the best prices for guns (14/01/14) and gunfire.pl are very good also. If you prefer a UK based seller (in case of breakdown for eg), the larger retailers (in no particular order: Zero One, Land Warrior, Airsoft World, Action Hobbies, Redwolf UK), tend to be cheapest but only for certain guns (can't really leave Fire-Support off a list of larger retailers, but cheap they aren't, and Wolf Armouries but their website is a shambles) - but it's also worth checking with smaller retailers who will often negotiate over the price/delivery/accessories taken from: Ian's guide to noobism on a tight budget. and loads of stuff here to read up http://www.airsoft-forums.co.uk/index.php/topic/12854-new-player-guides-info/4 points -

Do I have to choose ONE? AR Platform I know a lot of people hate to see M4s all the time (myself included sometimes) but I think a lot of AR style rifles can look very unique and really cool. Troy M7A1 PDW CMMG VSBR w/ Troy TRX 9" I think these both look awesome. The FDE is sexy as fook. Favourite Pistols S&W M&P or FN FNP Any Kryptek (except for Typhon which I'm not so sure if I like or not) A-TACS AU or LE hydro dip2 points -

The rest of my kit's the the post so here's the only bit I brought back from Ukraine,Also a nice opportunity to test out the newly repaired camera on my N900. My boots after a year and a bit of usage. They have about 3 or 4 layers of wax and scuff coat. Soles have gotten a very thorough wrecking in Ukraine, the cheese like rubber did not enjoy abandoned soviet industrial estates. Still usabel and grippy though, only the right boot has really suffered on sole wear. Will beat them to death by next summer so I can either get something newer and better,or maybe even have them resoled.2 points -

Meh, I was a bit underwhelmed by the playing area to be honest - it's just a big forest with loads of paths, which are full of people hiding in trees so moving around is a pain in the tits if your unfamiliar with the site. Camping is good, plenty of room spare on the site. Only one big airsoft shop - it's still Zero One at the end of the day. A few people had bits and bats laid out 2nd hand.2 points -
Pretty much what duck said. Don't buy from any website with bbguns in it, because generally they charge way over the price, lie about the stats and then when it breaks you will never get the returns policy. Main sites to buy from = Proairsoftsupplies.com zerooneairsoft.com landwarriorairsoft.com patrolbase.co.uk all of our sponsors and people like armysurplusandtoys and ak2m4 who are on these forums, they can generally give you a forum discount also tawain gun and there are a few others like JD that are ok, not brilliant... I bought off of zero one and you have to do a lot of paperwork for your first order but it is fine after that, just for safety precautions and everything, its good its not just a box to tick because that doesn't clear that you actually are 18 *cough*justbbguns*cough* My first proper gun was a G&G cm16 carbine, I got the carbine because I liked the idea of changing the stock and I just generally like it more, but personal preference seems to be most people like the raider so I imagine that will be you. I got the long, however the short would be more practical for me in terms of carrying it around, because I cycle to mates houses for garden games and you have to be careful about hiding so I have to carry a huge backpack on my back which fits it, ( a hiking one) and it's tough to cycle with. Battery wise - get a LiPo. I got the 2600mah off of component shop and it is a beast, also with the accucel digital 6 with power supply, you spend around £70 altogether however in the long run it will save you. LiPos are great becase they give more power fore less, last longer, are smaller and you don't have to discharge them, just keep topping them up. They don't go wrong if you use them correctly e.g plug in the balancer, and use a smart charger so they don't go over max charge. That charger has an LCD display, it can charge from lead acid to LiFe, it is great and I use it. Eye protection is something you don't want to go cheap with. if you are under 16 you have to have full face and a good bolle mask and a half mesh mask could set you back some money but could save your eyes. Don't get the cheap chinese ones, in case something does go wrong, it could be serious and you would then regret it. Paintball masks work fine as well, but they do get fogged up like any mask or pair of goggles, you just have to be careful. Clothing wise, indoor is fine to wear chinos and a top or whatever, doesn't really matter about camouflage, however if you are going to play woodland I would advise you to go down to your local surplus store and buy some old issue woodland kit or multicam, whatever fits you, but it will make a big deal rather than wearing bright green like I did on my first skirmish... Magazines and chest rigs wise, for your first few games I would carry a rucksack around with BBs in, put it down to play and refill your mags, after, thats if you have 2 or three mags. Depends at what site you are playing, with mine they don't mess around, 2 minute break so we don't go back to the safe zone, so I carried some BBs around which saved me a few times. I have probably missed some key aspects, and I am worried I am becoming a teacher with my essays, but that is really all I have to say, will add some stuff if there is something else I forgot to mention in this post2 points

Designated Marksman(s) Rifle. Not quite a sniper rifle, but usually an accuratised version of the standard service rifle used by a Designated Marksman (DM) to reach out to targets beyond the range of the rest of his team. In airsoft terms, this usually can be any gun which has been upgraded to circa 450fps dependent on site rules. Usually has to be locked to semi auto and some sites include a MED for DMR's. TL:DR (Usually)An AEG/GBB which has been tuned to be accurate beyond ranges of normal non sniper rifles OR to be more consistent.2 points -

The number refers to the metres per second the spring should make the gun shoot at. So 90 m/s = 295-300 FPS Downgrade may be required if your air seal have been upgraded (hence the power increase) say if you installed a tightbore barrel or some upgrade parts in the gearbox. So if the gun is shooting too hot you could replace the M100 with the M90 spring to reduce the FPS. Good place to look for a battery and charger is Component Shop.1 point -
Green gas vs Propane price comparison.
M_P reacted to Airsoft-Ed for a topic
Yup, £7.20 a bottle from Go Outdoors once you pay a fiver for the discount card. I don't know how it lasts so much longer either, but I just get a shit load more out of it. I think it's because as you fill mags up there comes a point where the gas pressure in the bottle is no longer high enough to fill up a rifle mag. The bigger bottles take a longer to reach this point because they hold a higher gas volume. So the bigger the bottle, the better, because you can fill from it for longer. With the airsoft green gas cans it takes no time at all before there's not enough pressure in the bottle to fully fill a gas mag anymore.1 point -

MAW in Melton Mowbray do a fair few game days at £15 walk on. Decent mix of woodland, urban and open ground game areas. There's also a fair few First & Only sites in the Kidderminster/Leicester area. I recommend The Towers and The Asylum - cracking sites even if the £35 game day fee is a bit steep.1 point -

I've spotted the CYMA on AirsoftGlobal, although CYMA is spelled wrong http://www.airsoftglobal.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=19693 Looks to be a clone of the Silverback and not it's own thing like the JG. It's a tough choice. JG have the best gearbox(IMO) but a crappy hopup and a plastic body, along with the strange hicap. S&T has a steel body but internals are not as good as CYMA and JG and construction quality is iffy. CYMA,going by previous experience have the best accuracy and hopup but suffer from a plastic body and QC on their gearboxes has not impressed me to say the least.1 point -

Again - Viper 3 point tactical sling. It comes with a loop that will go through the sling point on your stock and a hook at the other end for the front ring. It also has the adjustment loop and fastex clip mid length like your SA80 sling does which will allow you to carry it in multiple configurations. Plus, being Viper - it's dirt cheap.1 point -

if you get the HFC's from onlybbguns try RC10 and you might get 10% off so the 2 HFC's will be £27 delivered yes they are low end guns and in general not ultra wise to buy from these BB site's But - ANY gas pistol "can" fail at some point lets be honest, the valves can leak etc... so see if you can locate spare mags - handy if you actually want another mag or if you can source parts for valve/mag - not always that straight forward....... You could consider buying 2 cheapy gas pistols like I have done, any gas pistol can break and YES they are not the top end ones but you ain't spending 3 or 4 times or more money on a pistol - and if you did then you a fvcked or heavily committed getting it fixed or you £100+ super duper blowback mofo pistol is just sitting there for display I am not having a dig at the high end pistols - far from it guys but these cheap n cheerful pistols at least kinda fire at some decent rate rather than crappy AEG's that offer only pi$$ poor performance before they break next week - if they last that long...... So you "could" consider 2 x HFC's for say £54 - or a pistol with 2 mags + other pistol for parts/painting - dodgy area - but you kinda get what I mean..... The Crossman @ £40 is plus postage or add £20 for free shipping can you buy a spare mag for it - if so then it might be worth it as £60 is free shipping try "horse" for 5% discount but gotta spens £60 for free shipping at bbguns4less onlybbguns do free shipping on all crap up to you though in the end1 point -

If it's just for back garden plinking then any co2 powered pistol is going to be about the same at that price, just don't be surprised if it breaks quickly. As mentioned before, avoid sites with "bb" in their title - usually have sub par customer service and products (but not always). Additionally if you order from overseas without a UKARA then your gun will be seized and more than likely destroyed. Even with a valid UKARA defence there's a risk of this happening.1 point -

cavninja reacted to Airsoft_Mr B for a topic
Wouldn't recommend you buy anything from a bbguns website! It's literally like the first thing everyone will tell you. I wouldn't trust what they write about the guns either, for example justbbguns said that a gun had a metal gearbox but it literally had one metal gear and everything else in it was cheap, bad quality plastic (UnrustleThineJimmies did a review of it I believe). I don't know how good HFC are. I have heard bad things about Crosman because a lot of their cheap guns are sold in the US at places like Walmart. Probably wouldn't last too long. Some of SRCs guns are good (heard the G36s are) but a lot of them are bad so I would not recommend their pistols. I suppose if you're only wanting something to mess around with in the garden, the 'bbguns' stores would be okay. Since a lot of the proper airsoft retailers don't stock those guns. I would not buy anything else from them though as it is usually overpriced and the customer service is bad and so on. That said I would recommend you saved up and invested in a rifle like the G&G Combat Machine because they can last you a long time (even stock / out of the box the quality is very good for a cheaper airsoft gun) and you can upgrade them externally as well as internally if you want to upgrade performance or fix anything in the future. Available from Pro Airsoft Supplies with a transparent stock and receiver (so it's VCRA-compliant, no defence needed + looks much better than a bright colour) for £100. Add £20-£40 max for battery and charger. If you wanted to go to a skirmish at some point, the pistols wouldn't really cut it and you'd find yourself at a disadvantage with less range / accuracy / ammo capacity and so on. TaiwanGun and Gunfire (both Polish) are great (I used TaiwanGun myself) but unfortunately no they won't two-tone your guns. Finally, C02 is more expensive and more powerful (so it may shoot too hot -over 350FPS- and not be allowed at a skirmish site) but the advantages are that it is affected less by the cold compared to green gas. Hope this has helped and welcome to the forum!1 point -

pull down dust cover - it don't drop down on budget end G&G's and turn wheel a touch test fire and hopefully the bb's will travel straight rather than curve down/up adjust or zero you sights - rear sight mainly to now fire where your aiming etc.... that is really it - happy shooting hop-up upgrade maybe if you find your gun is not performing too well in a few months should be ok if new, give it barrel a clean at halftime - jeez have a look at some guides coz ian & others have put some work in these and are a goldmine of info for all of us http://www.airsoft-forums.co.uk/index.php/topic/12854-new-player-guides-info/1 point

I'd actually advise against Russian boots. I've had a pair similar to those you posted and they were probably the worst boots I've ever owned. Here's the thing-They are decently durable, stitching's nice but the material is poor. They're extremely stiff at first. Once you bed them in by either walking in them a lot or pissing in them they become loose and give poor ankle support. The soles aren't great, grip is pretty lackluster. They're not water proof,Went in a few games in light rain and of course everything soaked through. The boots started rotting along with my feet, the leather just started to degrade rapidly. I couldn't justify them aside from the price and the fact that they look bloody amazing. They'd be great for cosplay and re enactment There's a damn good reason the modern Russian army is using Lowas and civilian hiking boots instead of issue ones. Stick with German paras man, they look just as good and the quality is undeniably better.1 point -

I and sure many others on here will say G&G Carbine or Raider is a great start yup it is a M4 but a very well built one for the money, plastic but not ya usual cheap HongKong rubbish - no sir This is quality Taiwanese Enginnering as Del Boy Trotter would say..... Seriously - M4 with 300 to 450 or so magazines on a well built gun with decent gearbox You may like MP5's but has smaller capacity mags of say 200 or AK47 with bigger 500 or 600 mags or G36 with say 350 - 450-ish mags They are your main choices - a few others like SCAR - ohh I'm not gonna list all types them 4 are the main types people may choose as their primary there are others but once you deviate from the bulk selling lines the price goes up (supply n demand I guess) me I think Raider for about £125 ish is great coz has rails already to mount stuff on be careful not get gas blowback - just a normal £125 G&G CM Raider will do now you gotta buy charger battery mask - probably mesh type, extra mags bb's etc... will probably take you up to £175 aprox your pistol could be used as a last ditch resort but normally pistols need to fire at 200fps rifles at 300fps to 350 - might be only 328fps or 100m/sec at your site it is not a £350 gun with £100 upgrades but will hopefully allow some chance and allow you to have a go and enjoy your day JBBG stuff at a proper site will not allow you to get near somebody picking you off before you can get near enough to shoot them and you will get the hump Airsoft relies on a just a few things: safety - common sense so listen n respect marshals n other players - yup even the bell ends fair play - if you get hit once you are dead - not COD even in the foot you are HIT if in doubt then call it - it ain't a prize competition if we don't try to play fair then may as just stay at home and target shoot in garden so to speak enjoy yourself - don't worry if you K/D is negative, mine still is but often I can get 1 good kill or funny moment that outweighs any bad unfair judgement etc... you will play against regulars, good skilled people who know the layout so you can't expect to dominate on your first outing and it ain't COD - they know you are attacking and they will be expecting you or hunting you so it won't be a breeze soz about the long bit but many are suprised when their first day they are knackered and shot to $hit G&G I have learnt are the best starting guns - even mid range guns I think so it will be a wise decision you won't regret later like crap I have bought in past there are loads of places to buy from but unsure about Irish shipping etc.... Zero One * ProAirsoft * Land Warrior Airsoft * Patrol Base AirsoftWorld.net * FireSupport The * ones deffo sell G&G but atm a lot are out of stock due to summer and a big Airsoft Even over weekend but will give you an idea to look at G&G range - zero one probably and LWA have a massive choice of stuff on their sites so you may look n decide you are more a G36 or AK kind of person do a bit of research looking around and ask if unsure - maybe create a new thread though as this is getting way off topic now so soz to mods if they wanna clean up thread a bit or move stuff other makes are out there like models but G&G M4's are good and parts are easy n cheap to get hold of as they so popular soz for going on - there are numerous other threads and some new to airsoft guides written by much more wiser members have a browse n think about it S D1 point -
Do you find the mag pouches restrictive on your SAAV, Nick? I bought one in US Woodland camo before i knew my arse from my elbow and couldn't get it to work with any mags except STANAG so i sold it. But I'm also wanting to get a Russian pistol I can skirmish anywhere, so probably a WE TT-33 (which will come in at about a oner with a spare mag posted), although I am sooooo tempted by the Gletcher Grach, but it would need valve mods on the CO2 mag/s to bring it down to 1.1-ish Joules and it has no hop, so it really would be £200 almost wasted - sooooooooooo pretty tho1 point
