  1. I do love threads like this, i add so many guns to my 'don't bother' list. So for all of you that get lemons or toys that dont live up to their externals/expectations, thank you.
  2. @Jacob WrightThe plan is that we do get a FOB, i still have to hump gear to the fob. Where i have taken medic role i also need to carry my share of bandages and the load carrying for the bandages. I think my load out is as light as i can get it. @Tactical Pith Helmett good shout on the bottle of something, i'll have a look in the cupboard and add my hip flask. I think i have warmth covered with layers, i'll let you know, although the idea of poncho..... as to food - veg (not much) is part of the supply run @Rogerborg its both really easy and really hard to get kicked from the a.r.a.b.s page....there are not many lines but cross one and you're out. Good pick up on lack of water mentioned, that is part of the supply run on the friday heading towards site. Its the Gunman Alpha site so not plumbed in, need to carry or leave at fob - given that food/water raids are part of the objectives...i'll be carrying most of that gear/supplies As to the coffee thing....its safer for everyone that i get all the coffee i want/need 😉😂
  3. Yes it is, Andy has run a number of game weekends, this being number 4. I am buzzing for this. As such I have a small update for this thread.... my kit list! unpacked and packed pictures. The packing process its self was a touch frustrating i had planned on just the assult pack grab bag and rifle slip case. That didn't happen. My first priority was to get the kit to site, knowing that i would be repacking on the Friday night with loadout in mind. So for a start the kit list i broke it down into the following Camping Hammock tarp sleeping bag microfibre towel (to act as underquilt) Loadout rig grab bag med kit - battle belt with vintage pouchs - bandage - (safety) scissors medic patch (yes a special metion, i think i have a weakness for patches....) watch 'gas' mask eye pro & spare + accessories gloves Weapons and ammo m4 + mags shotgun + shells & bandollier actual ammo (3 bottles, just to be sure) smokes (distractions and 'posion' gas) & bangs speed loaders Clothes key points of extra layers - hats and such like and more spares in case of rain Food kit & food (work in progress) a VX coffee filter ....yes really coffee well, lets just say i plan on snacks throughout the day with two hot meals (raman) Wash kit kept really simple teeth stuff and wet wipes.... Misc notebook + small pencils bin liners I accepted that i needed an extra bag so the brown one will be my fob bag and the assult pack will have snacks and stuff. I just need to get the three bags to london waterloo from east london, then on to fleet where the last supply run happens before hitting the site. Given the amount i know some are taking i think i have done well... There was a last minute info drop with some fun rolling objectives. i am buzzing....
  4. The plan is that we do get a FOB, i still have to hump gear to the fob. Where i have taken medic role i also need to carry my share of bandages and the load carrying for the bandages. I think my load out is as light as i can get it but it is the extra, the clothes, sleep system and food that are bulking. It might be that i gain a fob bag to carry which would contain safe to leave gear, again with the repack on the friday. A big part if the issue lies in my use of public transport to get (most of the way) to site.
  5. So the first pack wasn't as fun as i thought it would be. Still have a number of bulky items that i need to get into the assault pack. The weather has turned against me so i will need extra layers, i will need to be smart with the quality of layer. I also still need a little space free for a touch of food and cook kit which i am borrowing. It has shown up that if i plan to do more weekender i will need to upgrade certain pieces of kit, the rifle slip case for example isnt happy with carrying the shot gun as well. Thing is, i know that i will be repacking once in site as i will be wearing chest rig and such like and that will create/ move the spare space i need for pyro an cook kit. With raids being a thing for this game, and without more info to what this means, i want to be carrying almost everything. So question for the group is this unatainable? Some of the vids and threads here and elsewhere seem to view this as madness unless i have a 100lt carry system. Oh well, second/final pack tonight or tomorrow, if i get the chance i'll dump some pics and kit list.
  6. Do let us know how it goes, i keep looking at this style/era of filmsim style games. Ambush (botley) do a game once a month or so called Plunder which my brothers seem to enjoy, a rolling multi objective with the odd npc and other props. I plan to hit one next chance i get to go down there. Then my first weekender is coming up soon as well. Which i am super excited about, larp, shooting, npcs, multi objectives. As mentioned veriaty is the spice....
  7. Before anyone gets worried about someone buying this, i put an offer in for what i would pay for it...... lets see
  8. And yet some how it came back @Tackle great meme drop into the question box
  9. I kinda get where you are coming from. There are often reasons why set pieces are not used, some of these will be actual reasons. Ask yourself what kinda day you would have had if you had only defended/attacked the fort or rescued pilots. I had the frustrating day of seeing all these cool areas but not being able to play in them due to other (paintball) games. Did i have fun, yes. Would i have had more fun had the games/terrain been different all day, also yes. Points raised by others, such as mentioning games you dont like/didnt enjoy on the day can lead marshal/owners teams to re-asses these games for future players.
  10. i really wish i had some wip photos for you all as well. Cut the bottle neck of your choosen cleaning fluid bottle, hot glue gun in place once fit is 'good' - use addition cleaning bottles as required to achieve fit, add gafa tape by the roll to ensure there is a prayer it will survive riggers of transport, wrap in half a roll of 'camo' tape and paint with my kids paints, add coats until stays dark if not black..... also yes i need to fix/cover/remove the remaining blue but gods damn that stuff is tough to shift from the rubber grip.
  11. I made a stock for my shotgun using gaffa tape, a cut up bottle of cleaning fluid and the dream it will need to survive the gun bag on my next day out. The reason? Well playing a game with limits and rules i am not allowed stockless shotguns or rather 'tactical' shotguns, (but then everything is tactical....) so a plan was formed and with a causual glance it looks ok. (Will throw a pic up later) Rude not to once you have the know how, they no doubt look great on pew given how fab they look off.
  12. Again the same as many, not had anything go missing from my table of spot in safe zone, but then there will almost always be more expensive kit visible to the thieving scumbags. I do mark, well tape, mags. I did have the thought to paint a section in the theme of 'Blockbuster' as they are hex mags but the first one looked shockingly bad i didnt continue. May have to get better before i try the next ones..... Any kit that isnt being worn is often in the bag to keep my spot tidy
  13. Sites i have been to explicitly say no tree climbing, i wouldnt have looked up either... sounds fun though
  14. Keep it simple for as long as you can! Enjoy the simplified load yet still have loads of pockets.
  15. Yes! Well it could be the reasons i said or it could just be politeness after they circle jerk about what on thier tables and look over at lonely me and ask..... but i'd like to think.....
  16. This comment isnt getting the recognition it really deserves, playing last week i was often running with both rentals and people with expensive kit. Both groups happened to be good people whom i would gladly play with again. I do proudly sit in the budget boy slot, i have 1 primary that i will tinker with if/when it breaks and i have a back up cheap shotty that would keep me occupied in a cqb site. I would argue that although i cant get that first shot kill at 70m i can and will get most at 65m with a couple of range finder shots. Kit, maybe, i am super comfy in my simple chest rig and ammo grab bag (with hydration pack if required). Weapon though....yes, if i had the beer tokens saved and a gun on my (stable) wish list came up, yes. I am currently saving for a mid tier aeg but the idea of buying a full price gun..... I do sit in the function over form. My only aeg i picked up at 50% off, i wouldnt have gone for that model/style at full price. It has a cheap knock off railed Magpul style handgaurd that people are interested in until i tell them its made of cheap plastic and not high end plastic. My peq box is huge, like 10cm long and looks outrageous. At the same time i spent lots of beer tokens on powering my aeg, but again this is function based purchase. People come and look at my aeg because they have either seen the range or have been shot by it, as a rule people become uninterested when i tell them its a cheap piece of kit.
  17. If it is cqb surely a gas shotgun could be what you are looking for? Although that is not a quick reload either. What i have found to speed up my reload is bringing the full one out in off hand, 'stacking' the mags then as you drop the empty out the full one can slide in, then empty can go in dump pouch. Means you have a loaded gun even if your hands are not on for same time....if that makes sense....
  18. Yes, but also no. The 'uncompleted' are still worth a message. My (perceived) bargain of a shotgun says so....but as you say this was a lower end item.
  19. I mean, when i visit/shoot with family we went from CS to Ambush, as Ambush was a great first experiance (and each time since then) we/they didnt try any of the others in the area. Badlands did get a mark against it for the bio bbs, but then bios have come a way since we had a look around at close sites when CS was still open..... Do go and let me know!
  20. I can see how some people could kid themselves into something like that. But these pistols don't look like that. Are there any toys that airsofters that would pay thousands for? Collector editions or whatever?
  21. Welcome, as mentioned there are a number of Londoners in here, all willing to get another body to the london (and adjacent) sites. If you drive then that just opens up the potential for so many more sites for you. Your idea of 'close' will be very different. I look forward to bumping into you at a site
  22. Welcome, you are quite spoilt for sites if you have a car, how did you find ambush? Close to you are also (as mentioned) UCAP green Ops You also have South Coast CQB, badlands near rowlands castle (i think they have a bio bb rule).
  23. Oh feck me, yeah that is all about the craft then isnt it. But then i dont 'get' the sniping game yet. With these limits why would you use anything other than an auto... I agree with previous posts re uk limits, they arent going up. As to long game days....thoughts are divided, i would prefer the information to given out in the morning at or before safety brief. Being told 20mins before mag up and in to game zone that 'we'll be out til lunch/ we are out for the first two games' makes a huge difference to what i carry.
