  1. It's a tricky one. Every culture cracks jokes about how funny the other chap sounds / looks / acts, without meaning anything malicious about it. It's just in-group banter and doesn't necessarily mean that the other fellow is viewed as inferior, just different. It's really a way of celebrating that the local culture, mores and speech are - of course - correct and exceptional, which is something that all strong, stable cultures inculcate. A culture that doesn't do that, which tell itself "You know, maybe those Huns and Visigoths at the gates have some good points, let's invite them in and see.", is on the way out. [Sinister foreshadowing intensifies] I've visited and worked in many places, and while the local professionals have always been polite and courteous, there's never been any doubt that I was the kuffar, gaijin or mat salleh. I have no doubt at all that they were laughing about my hilariously awful pronunciation and clumsy, childish table manners the moment I was out of earshot. It's not something to take any offence over, because after all, I know that speaking the Queen's English around a mouthful of deep fried haggis being eaten with a knife and fork is the zenith of human civilisation, right?
  2. I thought it was generally considered to be snot, rather than earwax? That's why I'm not too fussed about what I use on the gears and am happy with a thin smear of grease, or thick oil. Somewhere in between the two might be ideal, I know Luke at Negative uses some unholy secret blend of 11 greases, oils, herbs and spices.
  3. Agreed (mostly). Silicone grease on anything involving plastic. Metal to metal, eh, whatever's closest to hand in the garage, e.g. lithium bearing grease, or even a drop of thick chainsaw or gearbox oil. Just not a thin oil as you don't want it flinging.
  4. Earplugs, and a sleep mask. You haven't mentioned water supply. Unless it's nearby and copious, I'd avoid any diuretics like caffeinated covfefe. Hmm, did I leave A.R.A.B.s or get kicked out? Can't seem to recall, I'm sure it would have been ranting about the rants either way.
  5. UKARA is really just a way of recording site membership, so I'd agree with talking to your site(s) and seeing what they're prepared to do. I'd 100% agree with not trying to import a RIF without a defence at the moment. But within the UK, it is not, and never has been, an offence to buy or attempt to buy a RIF. So: buy privately from someone who wants to sell. It's entirely up to them. And truth to tell, there are some retailers who will sell to anyone, which is dropping a huge turd in our punchbowl. However, if you have a history of playing or membership, you can always ask retailers if they're willing to sell to you - they are in the business of doing that. Given the stocking issue at the moment, your first challenge is to find something for sale.
  6. Yup, what they said. Consider that it typically costs about £20 extra per day to rent, but that includes BBs. So really you're looking at a total of £30-40 extra for gun and face protection rental over the magic 3 games. Unless you really, really want your own IF right away, it does make sense to rent first so that you've got more idea what you want when you come to purchase. Of course, I didn't, and just bought a £75 CYMA M4, which I've never regretted. I wouldn't recommend getting anything more expensive in two-tone though, as above, it'll be harder to shift on. I prefer Indoor CQB as it's more intense with faster respawns and turnarounds, less walking, funnier and friendlier, with less of an issue of folk not wanting to feel hits after 15 minutes of creeping through the bushes. I agree that outdoor can have more teamwork and tactics compared to a basic linear indoor site. However, I have a lot more memorable moments indoors. Both are great though, just get stuck in with a rental package and see how you get on.
  7. That, really. There are enough cameras out there that it won't attract much attention now. I filmed a few games, but the thrill of scraping through hours of footage to find the few seconds of actual interest quickly wore thin. The other cardinal sin is posting "OMG CHEETAR!" videos, unless you've already provided the footage to the site and given them time to respond. Oh, and you will need a lens protector. BBs always seek out an unprotected lens, no matter how small it is.
  8. Paracord wrap adds £200, easy.
  9. Why start with a TM if you're going to replace the TM parts?
  10. Instructions unclear, where do I insert monies in return for awesome?
  11. There's no might about it. I won't pretend to be into Paris Hilton, or whatever the kids are raving about these days.
  12. Don't care. Don't care. Cool story, bro. Don't care. Great to hear that it sorted itself, cool story, and so on, and so forth.
  13. Hopefully one of the massive here will give this bruv 50 sovs for his shoota.

  15. Ask her to give you exactly what you want, explicitly, without any euphemisms or cryptic hints. 30 years of experience here, you can thank me in... I'm guessing 25 years.
  16. I simply won't reply unless I know what rank of Nigerian nobility they are. Real talk, I do just block anyone who comes across as a Joey. Life's too short to not plonk.
  17. Was the battery also lying around for years unused? If so then sight unseen I'd guess it wasn't capable of pulling the spring past compression, the motor stalled and the fuse threw itself on its sword. Unless there's a particular reason you want to stick with nimh then I'd agree with going 7.4V lipo, and I'd also lube the gearbox. At a minimum, get some silicone oil in there via the nozzle and the cut out slot, then blow it out the nozzle before putting the hop/barrel back.
  18. That's a bit peculiar. Is the M105 the same diameter as the Specna springs? I'm wondering if it's either sticking to the spring guide, or has too much free play.
  19. It's like you've never even met a Scotchman.
  20. Umarex / VFC did the same with their MP7. It's like they want them to be wall hangers or target range queens rather than actually used out in the muck and rain. Hmm, I guess that would cut down on warranty claims...
  21. Well, I find it funny when folk swear that a TM putting under under 0.8J will outrange a CYMA producing over 1.1J. A lot of airsoft is subjective, and there's a real aesthetic pleasure from watching a perfectly hopped BB float out there in a straight line - "shoots like a laser" is a very common claim. And I accept that TMs come with decent parts and can be very consistent - and consistency is what matters for hitting your target, at ranges that the BB will reach. But ultimately, a BB only has linear and angular velocity, and one with more energy (and sufficient backspin) will go further than one with less energy (and sufficient backspin). It doesn't know what toy it came out of, how much it cost, or how far you feel it should go. TM versus CYMA, the meme. TM vs CYMA, what matters. To be clear, I'm not saying "Don't buy a TM recoil", you'll be very happy with it. I am noting that if you stand side-by-side with someone with (e.g.) a nicely set up CYMA AK then you may find that their mundane BBs go just a bit further than your magical ones.
  22. That's what I'm doing. I have the CM.123 1911 and have drilled out the plastic under the barrel so that I can slide in a 116x17x13mm Turnigy nano-tech 1200mAh 2S 25~50C Lipo, with a Deans connector. It does improve the response and ROF over the stock nimh or a tiny lipo, but from awful to just mediocre. Adding a stronger spring degrades it again. There are loads of things that you can try with AEPs, and it's been fun doing so, but there's only so much that you can achieve.
  23. You can assume it, but it won't be true. The tiny cylinder volume is the limiting factor. I've tried the "M90" spring from Eagle6, and even with the air seal as good as I can get it, I've never seen over 0.5J (~237fps on 0.2g). The trigger response will never be anything like a gas gun. I'm currently running a 7.4V 1200mAh 25/50C lipo capable of delivering up to 60A, and the fattest wires that I can stuff in there, and it's still lethargic. It doesn't help that the triggers are also mushy, with none of the crisp clean break of a mechanical trigger. You can sink loads of time and money into them, but it'll never be as performant or fun as a gas pistol or an AEG MP5K.

Just to be absolutely sure, if your gun connector looks like the one on the left here, that's Deans ("T" connector).
  25. We're already in the realms where 0.8 = 1.1, anything is possible.
