Fuck knows honestly. He's always had that trick of just starting shit, getting a response, then editing around it so the other people look mental. It's an old trick. He does start that video saying he's brought his, "most painful gun". Another channel to shout out is Gun Gamers btw. More MilSim/LARP focused but a good bit about gear setups and the like. Generally seem to have good vibes as well. I'll say that you can learn a bit from firearms channels like Hop, Brass Facts, or Garand Thumb, but there's not much crossover in practice. Airsoft is basically simulating the most close-up form of fighting possible where everyone's within 50m like it's a Ukrainian trench raid. A lot of American firearms advice is how to maximise your paranoid schizophrenia level so you can convince yourself there's a civil war, retreat to the deep forests, and die of dysentery eating beans and MREs.5 points -

We're all pretending to be something we aren't & dressing up, so as much as I wouldn't be seen dead in a 'costume' at a game, I really like to see players who go all in and wear either full wehrmacht or pink fluffy bunny. I wish I had the confidence to do it but I'm too reserved.4 points -

I went to a game last month and this bloke had a go pro on his helmet, the side of his rifle, a scope cam and even had one mounted on the lower RIS on his side arm. One of my buddies asked him if he does youtube and he said not really its so I can improve my tactics when i watch it back. Pretty sure this hits alot of your statements lol4 points -

Hahaha. I would love to do an EM2 and the later sa80 prototype (as pictured). But time and funds aren't as free anymore. Struggling to keep up with issued kit. Let alone prototype stuff, haha. And yes.... the plastic definitely looks mouldy. Maybe they should give to me to look after...3 points -

I will embrace the cringe. I do plan at some point on getting some cameras and becoming yet-another-youtube-airsoft-sniper, though I have no compulsion to make a career of it and play into the drama-farming Youtube algorithm. I do think I have some interesting things to share though, part of which is a unique setup amidst the sea of over-engineered full body ghillie suits with MTWs, Tac-41s and Novritsch rifles. Will see though. I may just decide I can't be bothered and it's low on the priority list...3 points

Don't threaten me with a good time! But I do agree that some real-steel shooting practices do work well in airsoft, while others (most of them) very much do not; some do work with a bit of modification though. I've got some legacy US military sniper handbooks and training aids, obviously not up to date, but from the 80s - 2000s, that have really helped me in my chosen way of playing airsoft. I find a lot of fun from adopting and adapting (where needed/possible) real-steel firearms practices into airsoft, without going to a silly degree where I'm spending thousands of pounds on high quality scopes, night vision, thermals, ways to combat night vision and thermals, and ten years supply of baked beans for my off-grid cabin in the woods. I might try and put together a DOPE card for my sniper rifle, though with airsoft and how wonky our rifles shoot by comparison to real-steel, it'd be more of a "rough estimate" than the exact readings you'd have on a real firearm. All that said, I do try and set up my gear to be as realistic as possible; such is the curse of being a filmsim immersion nerd. Proper number of mags set up in the right way, comms, observation kit (binoculars, rangefinder, and I want to get a wind speed reader) sustainment kit (food/water), and the airsoft essentials like BBs and gas that allow me to play uninterrupted for an entire day without needing to head back to the safe zone, or even to respawn outside of when I get shot. I carry all my kit on me, and more often than not I find myself reloading in the field as the way I play revolves around not getting shot, so I'll often fall back if spotted rather than risk getting taken out in an unfavourable firefight, or my position getting grenaded or sprayed with full-auto And if you want some very good, but very old sniper youtube videos, this was the channel that properly got me into ghillie sniping 18 years ago. None of this KM drama bollocks, just some good old fashioned sniping, the way it's meant to be done! https://www.youtube.com/@6mmhunters/featured3 points -

I'd probably say don't over complicate it, get some practice in changing mags so you're comfortable with your kit and doing it so you can change mags without watching what you're doing and it's fairly quick. If you use radios, practice using them, make sure you don't hot mic etc. Maybe some snap shooting practice, hitting with your first shot vs your 10th can make a difference. If you do CQB, I think the limited penetration or "Israeli method" is the way to go, which is basically a fancy way of saying slow down and fight from the doorway/window, learn about slicing the pie and understanding the principles of a section attack and that this can be applied a lot will take you a long way.3 points -

Not so much tactics but Bodgeups did some good videos showing what sniping is like in airsoft. All his videos are a few years old now though ad he gave up on the whole YouTube thing. I won't go into detail but his headshots aren't the worst thing he does. I would say he's a cunt but I don't think he's got the warmth, depth or ability to provide pleasure. With airsoft on YouTube you need to remember that 99% of videos are very heavily edited to make the player look far better than they actually are3 points -

My post was made in jest, I don’t really have any objection to someone who wants to film their game to watch later. I plan to do the same when I can remember to buy a mount that doesn’t immediately fall off. Just had a funny mental image of someone with more camera than gun running round wondering why they can’t aim straight.2 points -
I’m going to back up this guy who is filming, it’s minimal cringe up against anything else in airsoft - and particularly if he’s filming for personal use rather than running a YouTube channel he is not inflicting his footage on others Cameras are the lightest things that ever get put onto a gun. Try going back to head/gun cameras in the 90s, assuming that you don’t have rails taking weight with no attachments, nor light, laser, reactive / optical sights @Gunboat Diplomat If he is looking at hours of footage of shots dropping low, then he is seeing where his shots go and is using his footage to learn - unlike all those players who call out ‘cheats’ when their shots are falling away We are (mostly) grown up adults who like to go out and play games shooting each other Some like to dress up, some slap every gadget on their gear, some take a battered old gun dressed in t shirt and jeans For the multiple cameras, people generally start with a head mount (it’s actually the most stable mount as our body stabilises the head & brain) When you watch back head mounted footage you find two problems: A lot shows the tree or wall that you are peaking around, otherwise you discover how much you are moving your head around looking here and there (or you discover that you are blinkered staring ahead only and keep getting shot out by someone coming from one side) Next comes the barrel / rail mount (though some start with this) This shows what you are shooting at, but the rest of the footage is the sky and the ground A kicking mustang / YouTuber adds a barrel cam claiming that it gives close up footage, but they want the crosshairs & zoom to then edit on the hit effects For a third camera a reverse mount goes on the gun to show you as you aim - these get added by the YouTubers for edits, but may also be added because you’ve seen someone else do it Bodycams may get tried, but result in a blurry image of your gun blocking all views A occasional sighting back in the day was a third person view mounted on a pole coming out of the back of the players vest - these tended to be quite novel as if you were not dedicated to editing a third person story view then you would immediately discard it when you realise how inconvenient it is getting caught in branches, bushes, doors etc2 points

This guy was pretty decent https://www.youtube.com/@GunfatherMilsim He's an active-duty SWAT officer in the US who also plays airsoft, so he put together some of the more relevant techniques in some videos. He's gone back to just real steel stuff now, but his old stuff is still up.2 points

The 'How Did Your Airsoft Day Go? Thread
tside and one other reacted to Gunboat Diplomat for a topic
Visited Finmere Airsoft for the first time this weekend to take part in one of their Chaos and Control days, a long objective lead day rather than your usual skirmish. Milsim-lite I guess you could call it. First notable point before the day of the event even came around was the great communication with the organisers. I posted a quick question via their ‘Contact Us’ link but got a swift answer and then welcome into their larger WhatsApp group to discuss game day specifics or ask for technical help. Even got sent a PDF with the game objectives and rules, site map and walkthrough video in advance of the day so everyone should know what they are doing. Really well organised and not something I’ve seen before. Arrived at the site an a rainy Sunday morning. The site itself is a fairly typical woodland affair with a long central access road bisecting it into two distinct halves. Safe zone is right in the centre, they have a mix of seating and tables, most undercover from the worst of the elements. Small tuck shop, supplies and a lone portaloo which was remarkably clean. Game area features some nice set pieces like a prop submarine, crashed airplane and some other abstract structures that could really be anything. Gameplay for the day were two 2-hour long domination rounds with five control points spread around the map for capture and control. Capture involved the usual flag raising plus starting your team’s stopwatch at the control point to start accumulating points. Each team’s spawn had an area map that you could mark POIs on and a radio. The radio allowed you to get in contact with the ‘drone operator’ to get intel and/or call in airstrikes or chemical weapons on certain positions. I’m guessing this isn’t anything new but it was the first time I’ve played anything like this and I had a great time playing Battlefield Commander with my rifle propped up in the corner of spawn and picking places on the map to drop imaginary ordinance. Another new one for me was their dead rule. You get 3 lives with the first 2 hits requiring you to be revived, but whilst injured you are allowed (and expected) to call out info to your team. Creates an interesting dynamic where a downed man can sometimes be the pivotal part of a firefight as he calls out enemy movements to the survivors. On your 3rd hit you are fully dead, then it’s the usual silent walk back to spawn. Other notable points of the day were zero moaning or bitching about hit calling, randoms happy to and actively looking to team up to do objectives, everyone generally very laid back and some guy brought a bag full of apples from his garden. All in all a great addition to our roster of local sites so will be going there again soon.2 points -

KM seems to always encounter toxic and cheating players in his videos, and it definitely gives that vibe of, "if you smell shit everywhere you go, it's you." I genuinely think he's an absolute negative for the hobby, and it's shite that he's far and away the most popular channel because that shit gets views.2 points -

I'm quite a fan of airsoft Alfonse. When you say tactics, do you mean squad level or an individual level? While I'm not a fanboi, the gbrs YouTube has some bits of interest, dirty civilian and garand thumb also have some nuggets in there. A lot of it is real tactics and they arent always relatable or that transferable, but they can give a chain of thought2 points -

Hello hivemind! Ive hit the unfortunate place in my life where I simply must have a VFC G3 and as such sadly something else has to go. With heavy heart I'm putting up for sale the most shameful gun in my collection. It was an absolute nightmare to build and cost a fortune, I had to bribe a machine shop, a welder and kill a member if the airsoft taste police to make it happen. The breakdown is: - Northeast sten - £430 - airtac hpa adapter x 2 - £200 - mepro tritium/fiber ring backup sight - £130 - mpx stock - £120 - wood foregrip - £30 - cherokote - £260 - carry bag - £30 - welding/machining £200 It started life as a Northeast sten but I wanted something more modern so I milled a rail from steel and welded it onto the body, at the back end i machined a cutout for a mepro tritium sight to act as a backup. Whilst I was at it I bent some steel and then machined and welded on a picitinny section for a stock. Therefore giving birth to the most uncomfortable pistol grip in existence (it grows on you) I ended up with something functional but looking like it came out of metro, covered in rust and weld burns so I had it sand blasted and cerokoted in black with all the working bits orange so that I could keep an eye on their condition. I should have kept the working bits black too but its pretty easy to do that if you wanted, the orange looks a bit ...... off i think. Right now she functions perfectly but it looks like the nozzle spring has snapped, not to worry though as ive got 2x brand new spares for you ready to go. Send me a message and i can send you videos, close up of the milling and welding etc. The scope and torch ARE NOT included, or are at least available separately and not part of this listing. Ive got the shell of the original mag but it was gutted to feed the hpa adapters parts. All in all she cost me £1370 to build. 80% of that is £1096 so I would like £1100 to make it a nice round number, its most definitely the most unique sten out there, and you can have the 40-60 hours of labour it cost to build for free 😀 Happy to discuss trades for a VFC G31,100.00 GBP
