that's the dead internet talking. forums remain a bastion of actual enthusiast dialogue, and whilst this place has a particular feel (read: if you're a kickingmustang alumni you may not feel so welcome) it remains a safe place to chat airsoft related topics without the usual internet plague of adverts and bad opinions.7 points -

There are loads of airsoft groups on faceache, unfortunately 99% of the content is usually the same crap. It's either people pushing their YouTube channel, the same questions or bad advice answering them. While forums have their problems I find they're far better for information and there's less egotistical bellends4 points -

Another plus this place has over faceache is that members can have different opinions and discuss or debate them without acting like a bunch of teenage girls talking about their favourite boyband. Sure, we might use slightly spicy language but that's totally different to just throwing childish insults around because the other person disagrees3 points -

Unfortunately, that's the cesspit that Facebook has turned into with intrusive ads and its Scunthorpe problem censorship of the word "gun". There were a few decent pages but because of words and images picked up by the algorithm that seemed to know best, they kept being shadow banned, flagged and even shutdown because of self-righteous policies that don't understand airsoft isn't about shooting up schools in America. Reddit isn't bad but I'd say forums are the best platform. There are a few Whatsapp chats that can be handy for advice but some people become the missing link when they utter all sorts of nonsense under "banter".3 points -

Case in point was one chap who waded in and asserted with such swagger and confidence in his first post that a defence isn't at all necessary for a private purchase/sale of RIFs. He has lurked ever since he was disabused of that falsehood with short shrift.2 points

Invicta Blacksite ask you to bring an empty mag to chrono which you fill with their .20's and speed loader, if under 350fps you can then use your own ammo up to .25. Think it's because most engagements are 1-2m away and it hurts a lot when you are under the limit and I can only imagine what it would be like if you were over. The woodlands site is more of a trust site where you can chrono with your own ammo but then engagements are 10-20m so a significantly lower risk of injury.2 points

Played from mid nighties through to just after VCRA about 2007. Just started again recently. Lipos, mosfets, quick change springs and Gbbrs are probably the biggest game changers. For me there’s so much more choice, when I started if you wanted an AEG it was TM, now no matter how obscure a weapon you’re looking for, it’s probably available somewhere.2 points

Don’t do it!!! Keep this forum going However, there are many Facebook groups This forums Facebook is linked below. That doesn’t have chat going on as it acts as a touch point for the forum and is likely to be used for the status of a major outage etc. It can be handy to have it anyway, for both its main purpose and for the Facebook algorithm to top up tour interest in airsoft, thus then suggesting others https://www.facebook.com/share/18gojAvwDN/?mibextid=wwXIfr A thing that Facebook compliments well along side forums is for sub groups - especially local region and/or site groups, that gets the opportunity to see what’s going on, meet like minded local people etc Next is the niche parts of airsoft - MilSim, speedsoft etc - good for like minded people and finding things further afield for your preferences (or discovering the local one that you have never heard of) It goes bad when the dispersed groups take the world away from the forums, which was the cause of the fall of forms, but followed when Facebook added more rules and people trickled back to forums (mainly for a sale) I suggest searching Facebook for local site names, sub genres and then seeing what else the algorithm comes up with I know that you say that you don’t use Facebook, but along with Reddit it is where chat happens Consider making a basic account just for airsoft that does not need to be your real name2 points

WE stanag magazine fill valve options
Nick G reacted to Puttees445 for a topic
Hi guys! Tried searching as ever, but I couldn't really find a hard and fast answer for this so here we are. Basically, I struggle to get a full magazine loads worth of gas into my WE magazines. I try the listening method but usually I'll get to the 28th/29th shot and then I get failure to feed even when I'm using deliberate fire (1 round every 6 seconds). Same when I hold the gas on for up to 30 seconds. I was wondering if it would be possible to fit a TM style dual valve to the WE magazines in order to aid with filling sufficiently, and if so, does anyone know what valves would be suitable? I've done my googling and come across a suggestion that the aap01 valves are dual stage and should fit, but I don't know if this was for pistol mags only. For reference, I'm using a mostly stock L85 with the older ra tech npas (non magnetic locking) and haven't modified magazines at all. I have added the washers at the back of the bolt as it is the older style with no reinforcement. Thanks for looking!1 point -
Opinions on Bipod Foregrips?
Colin Allen reacted to Holly Wallace for a topic
Hi all, As in the title, Wondering what you all think about those foregrips with bipods spring loaded into them. I've always been running one on my SR47, Since I'm either all in on static position support type of play style, Or running around. It's a stable enough solid bipod, And deploys and retracts quick. The grip itself is pretty monolithic however, And it does occasionally get bumped on trees, Or gets in the way of the whole rock-in mag thing. Haven't seen any one else using something like this, It's either just a foregrip, Or foregrip and bipod seperate on DMRs.1 point -

Honestly the more Enshittification sets in on social media, the more I'm going back to forums and similarly curated spaces. I think the biggest space I'm in nowadays is the HRC, and that's mostly to ask people which end the BBs come out of and how much green gas it takes to fill a badger.1 point -

Or I hate so and so just because I do and I hate change and won't give it a chance. Seen that one alot lately especially about some bands I followed on there for a while. Especially with linkin park, people saying I hate them because they aren't linkin park without Chester bla bla bla bla. I just feel like saying give them a chance man but there's no point as you get shot down with a bullshit excuse.1 point

Need help with ARP9
ruskitseller reacted to Adolf Hamster for a topic
that's a cure for the timing bug. essentially, there's a point in the cycle where the trigger will go kinda dead as the cutoff lever is still engaged. flicking to auto overrides this and lets it fire with the odds being when you flick back to semi it's unlikely to have stopped in the dead zone. this is why i reccommend against active braking mosfets if they aren't paired with precocking, as they can stop the box right in the danger zone. although that doesn't sound like what's going on here if the trigger is dead after a blast of auto.1 point -
I should have said in this post that obviously to make things easier, the marshals should have a small assortment of mags preloaded with the right weight. Weighing bb's just sounds like a right kerfuffle that'll be easy to fiddle on the fly.1 point

Should more sites weigh the bbs during chrono?
Galvatron reacted to Lyndication for a topic
Quite a few times. One time they sent an entire team home because the buggers were messing with their HPA setups and cranking the power. Marshals ambushed a couple of them with a spot chrono check and they were 1J over lmao. Generally players just behave themselves. It helps that most of them still think you should run .2s because they go faster.1 point -

Corporal Jones moment coming on here.... When I was running the Wargames Centre in Ayrshire ( now biohazard), as a CQB style indoor site we had a limit of 328fps (+/- 10) and always tested on .2s. As it got busier we had more issues just chopping and changing mags etc to chrono. We had guys turning up when hpa was becoming more common and we had issues with understanding locking settings etc. The same with guys having MK23s with the suppressor which took pistols over 380-400 fps. Theres also different gases that can ramp fps. As said before, if someone has a hard-on so bad to chrono at the site limit then quick change/regas/use magic then they are going to do so. I've had people who chrono over the fps saying they'll use heavier beebs, which doesn't help, as the energy is still there. We did give someone a ban for using a hot gun, and I definitely kicked players off site for aggressive behaviour. The trouble with infractions, some of them genuine mistakes, is that at the end of the day, everyone wants to play safely and honestly, there's always going to be a dick in there, and there's a fine line between punting players/getting a name for being an overly strict site and paying the rent and rates. As much as I/we voice support by playing honestly and by the rules, you get a different experience when you're having to use your own money to tide over the site as you build your legit player base. ( and that is just my experience, I am not in favour of anyone cheating/bending the rules)1 point

Should more sites weigh the bbs during chrono?
Cannonfodder reacted to Rogerborg for a topic
Why would someone planning to lie to you tell such an obvious lie? They'd be under 1.2J with anything up to 0.45g anyway. We're talking about the situation where Harry Hotgun says "Yeah, mate, using point twos today, mate", chronos at 350fps, then walks onto the field shooting 2J with the 0.36g that he's really got loaded. How does trusting him about the BB weight catch that?1 point -

ruskitseller reacted to Tactical Pith Helmet for a topic
Depends on the rules. I have a habit of clarifying these at briefing. 'What's team A's channel, what's team B's, which is marshal channel in case of emergency.' Listening in after being told the channel to avoid is a dick move. Not knowing the marshal channel is daft in case someone breaks a leg or similar (again). Picking up an unattended enemy radio and sending false info, listening in etc is 100% fine in my book. It's also great fun to use a stupid callsign and then mention what you did around the campfire later that evening... I only play filmsim though.1 point -

Yup. The only argument for 0.25g is that Captain Platecarrier is perhaps slightly more likely to feel it. But I just run 0.2g, it's what it's for.1 point

drop the FPS just abit
Galvatron reacted to Cannonfodder for a topic
This It could be argued that .2g is better for cqb as the higher fps means a shorter flight time for the bb. Potentially an advantage when targets are only visible for fractions of a second1 point -
Oh, those... special people. Their rules are all over the place, they have this silly concept of a "limit" (which is no such thing) and a "variance" (the actual limit). Their figures are wrong too: 0.2g x 328 fps = 0.99J 0.25g x 289 fps = 0.96J 0.2g x 350 fps = 1.13J (not the 1.1J they claim) 0.25g x 307 fps = 1.09J Why not just use 0.2g and see what you chrono at with that? There's no particular advantage to 0.25g at CQB ranges.1 point

Not new but returning
Cannonfodder reacted to Rogerborg for a topic
Ahoy and welcome back. Lipo is great, quick change springs are a treat, and fire control systems have started to show up even in low end guns in the last year or so But the BBs don't care: a properly hopped 1.1J BB is going to go as far as it ever did. My regular gun is just a basic M4 in a fancy shell, and I'm having as much fun as anyone else.1 point -
Other than this forum does anyone one know of any other places on the net to go talk Airsoft (other than Facebook or Reddit as I don't use these)? I have an Instagram but that isn't a good tool to chat and meet others. I feel forums are a slowly dying thing but great to see this one is still going well and people interacting.0 points
