  1. For me, it’s people who message with questions, do you still have, what’s your best price etc etc. You answer, then hear nothing, sometimes it shows as not even read. I don’t mind if I don’t sell the item, but can’t stand rudeness. Why ask if you can’t even be bothered to read the answer. ?

  11. That reminds me of someone recently wanting a response to fill his echo chamber with the notion that an AEP was a good choice. I don't think he was impressed with the consensus that AEPs are hugely underwhelming in performance to a point they're not even worth being a sidearm nor do I think he liked being told AEPs in fact do have running costs, contrary to the narrative he'd sold himself.

  12. Autobot electric speed loader as I’ve decided I prefer to use mid caps with the MP5 but find I get hand cramps in the afternoon when trying to reload in the 5 min pause between games (when I should be re hydrating/snacking).

  13. I was gonna say that one. I'll take it a step further, the people who join & 3 minutes later put up a sales thread without having the sense to read the rules, & then wonder why their adverts for airguns/knives/trainers disappear ?. Oh yeah, & the scammers, thieving cnuts ?

  14. A rather nice set of combats in a Chinese Type 81 camo pattern - 'Tactical Toms' - the quality seems excellent, and the sizing is rather European which caught me out a little. Should be pretty good for lush summer woodland. Quite a fun pattern which I understand was inspired by British DPM originally when it first appeared in the very late 1970's/early 1980's. Oh, and a cheeky Cyma MP5SD. I've plans to pop a Mancraft inside it that is currently unused within one of my M4s, and put a full stock on to turn it into the SD5 version. I must say, out of the box it seems superb, one of the quietest running gearboxes I've encountered and very snappy for a non-mosfet gun.

  16. People who get defensive when asked if a gun they're selling is a resprayed two-tone when the paint looks too glossy or like satin compared to the actual black parts of the gun or you can see red, green or blue streaks but they don't disclose it in the listing. Just about any deceitful behaviour to try and inflate the value of something above what it's worth and not having the balls to come clean, especially when you're preying on the ignorance of others who don't think to spot these things.

    Which pistol ?

Honestly, just go with whichever you prefer the look of. TM pistols (assuming you're talking about the TM ones) are all really reliable and you don't need to do anything to them for them to shoot pretty damn well. Just leave it stock and it will last you seemingly forever.

  24. Got this from Defcon Airsoft, it's a Double Bell so nothing fancy & is unlikely to ever see any gameplay. It's a base AR for a Colt 9mm SMG build, I'm not a thread counter so I'll get it as close as I can without getting stupid. Got a gas deflector to rattle can then fit, inner barrel to cut down (where's my dremel?) and the mag release to cut flush in the magwell then Bob's your auntie & Fanny's your craddock.

  25. So confident and yet so wrong. Private sales are subject to the same laws as shops, whether or not private sellers are as strict as shops is a different matter. You're right that a defence isn't needed for ownership but that's not what we're discussing here. UKARA isn't the only defence and nor is it a legal requirement. A seller just has go be satisfied that the buyer is using it to play airsoft hence why on site shops can sell to players without a site membership. If the vcra was a person it would be old enough to drink in pubs and vote. How are people still getting this wrong?

  26. Nobody said it was illegal to buy, or to own, a RIF. It's an offence to sell, to import (or cause to be imported), or to manufacture a RIF, or to modify an IF into a RIF. The same offence applies to everyone. The same defences apply to everyone. In practice it's simply not enforced on anyone, retail or private, anywhere except at point of entry to the UK. But this isn't Facebook or Reddit where confidence and VOLUME hold sway. In the law section here, we cite and discuss statutes, regulations and case law.

  27. Whether you think it's good or bad, sites will test to what their insurers require of them. Your proposed chrono test can still be cheated by players testing with X weight ammo but playing with a heavier weight where joule creep would fail the test. There's no logistically fool-proof test so trust is a key part of the process. If the chrono test passes a player who then gets caught in play above the joule limit, that liability is on the player as they can be prosecuted for assault with a hot weapon.

  31. Rather predictably, this morning saw me at Airsoft Plantation, where I met up with around 180 other players for a day of slinging plastic at each other. After setting up and chronoing my recently overhauled and upgraded QBZ 97, which was shooting slightly hot, comparing guns, discussing the pros and cons of gas and gearboxes, and listening to the safety brief and the first game brief, our team set off for the mortar pits, while the red team went to the village. We had two lives, while the attackers had 10 medics, upon whom they had infinite regens. Their objective was to get three smoke grenades, which were carried in an ammo box, to their respective targets in the mortar pits. They could not open the box to find out where the objectives were until they were in the mortar pits and, if the player carrying the box was hit, they had to hand it to the medic who saved their life, who would give it to the next player who regened on them. I initially took up a position behind a berm towards the left side of the mortar pits. The enemy took a while to appear but, when they did, the recently upgraded SR47 showed that the work that I had done on it had been worthwhile; it was popping BBs out to a great distance and had a much improved trigger response. I got lots of good hits before being hit, whereupon I fell back to the bunker, from where the SR47 carried on as it had started until I was hit again, this time by an enemy player who had sneaked around the boundary berm on the left. I joined my other deceased team mates along the back of the site to watch the fun, which included a brilliant piece of work from a rental, who took out several of the enemy before being hit. Eventually, of course, the attackers achieved their objectives and, after a short visit to the safe zone to reload, the game was reversed. In this iteration, I was one of the medics; our attack was pretty direct and we pushed into the mortar pits, taking a lot of hits along the way, which kept us medics busy when we were not shooting the enemy. Our smoke grenades were set off at their targets in a time that was four minutes faster than that of our enemies. Hip hooray and tally ho, as Blackadder's Lt George would probably have said. The next game was a fallback using most of the site. The red team had to transport a casualty on a stretcher, which was a four person lift, from the far end of the woods to the border bridge, then to the town hall and finally to the plane in the DEA base; at each location, they had to set off a smoke bomb that was located there. They had infinite regens on a marshal who was 30m behind their rearmost player, while we had one life in the woods, another in the border/village, and a final one on the far side of the firebreak. We set up a two layer defence in the woods and I found myself being part of the second layer. The enemy's attack was quite slow, taking a long time to break down our front line, who were well supported by those of us in the second line. Eventually they did so and, after a bitter fight, we were overwhelmed and I made my way back across the border bridge. I decided to make use of the boundary ditch, which is largely sheltered by bushes and small trees, as a good location from where I could easily move back and forth and pot enemy players as they advanced past me. As some of you may remember, I have previously written about the different types of mud at AP and this location offered me a completely new variety to admire; it was reddish brown, clearly indicating that a different soil stratum exists along the far boundary, very smelly and extremely glutinous; I was as happy as the hippopotamus in the song by Flanders and Swann. This plan worked rather well as I was able to shoot passing players from the ditch and then scuttle along it to another position without being seen. Eventually, I heard a shout of "Game Over"; the enemy had timed out without reaching the town hall. Lunch followed and the somewhat filthy appearance of my boots and trousers was in contrast to everyone else in the safe zone. After lunch, the game was reversed, with our objectives now being limited to getting the stretcher and its casualty to the border bridge and the town hall, setting off their smoke bombs. The group that I was with formed the right flank of our attack in the woods, moving along the boundary and getting into lots of engagements with the defenders; although we took casualties, we worked well as a team and overran them reasonably handily. We then got somewhat bogged down at the border ditch and bridge due to a stalwart defence by the red team, which we we eventually overcame, but not before I twice had to go in search of the regen marshal. As the enemy had taken heavy casualties fighting at the border, we were able to push into the village reasonably rapidly, getting the casualty to the town hall and setting off the smoke bomb there. At this point, I had to leave as I needed to get home, sort out my kit, have a shower, and then get to Desertfest in Camden in time for Slift and the truly awesome, overwhelming and weirdly uplifting Earth. It was a typical AP day of airsoft, with well designed games, great play and lots of fun; it was played in a good spirit. I am not sure if I will be playing next Sunday; I am going to see Soft White Underbelly (aka Blue Oyster Cult) at the Islington Assembly Hall on Saturday evening and the thought of getting up early the next morning is not particularly attractive. Weapons used: Hurricane Kit SR47 MP5A2 (most of the externals are SRC, except for a CA SEF trigger group, and it has a mix of internal parts) ASG XP18 Commander (CO2) Drinks consumed: Water Tea

  33. Because they (often) just let anyone in, there's no process so it's just a bunch of randoms with mixed knowledge, skills, commitment, kit, motivation and willingness to work together. Often worse they say they're one thing (such as regularly attend big events) and then be something else (the definition of regular becomes once a year.....or less). It's worse than herding cats. At least when you meet people who attend they're all motivated enough to attend, travel whatever is required etc and if they're doing that, they're often the type who will go the extra mile, learn some team tactics and work as a team member and not lone wolf it. Their kit will be a bit more squared away (from experience and motivation), in line with rules and uniform requirements etc.

  34. As others have posted attending games and meeting like minded folk is the best way on to a team. In my experience, all be it skirmishes rather than milsim, teams who are actively looking for new members are usually doing it for a reason and the reason is usually bad.

  35. The only place you will meet the people you're interested in is by attending the events and getting to know people there. As someone who has played lots of big weekend events and tried countless times to herd supposedly willing skirmishers to events, don't waste your energy. Attend the events that would interest you, chat to people who are also motivated to attend and then follow up with them. Within a few events you'll have a better understanding of what you like and you'll know people who also attend. The level your talking about is generally too niche to be lucky enough to find local people and those that are....have been through loads of people saying they're keen, motivated etc who just flake, so they don't bother. They bother with people who attend multiple times. Attend events with Stirling, defiant events or one of the newer ones like Johnny big guns or bad wolf. This will mean traveling long distances.....but if you're motivated enough, you'll do it.

  36. Generally speaking, filmsin tends to just mean restricted ammo counts and semi-auto only (except support weapons) to stop complete drum mag on an M4 hosefests. This is about as 'hardcore' as a regular airsoft site will run, as in the grand scheme of things milsim isn't that popular. If you want sleeping in the cold, firing two rounds all day after lying in a trench - then yeah, go to a Sterling game or one of the more hardcore Defiant ops. Going to any walk-on game and hoping for this will always leave you disappointed.

  38. Doesn't work there either. My one and only visit, had multiple people running Saiga's through chrono on the site 0.2's, then using way above the permitted 0.25's on joule creep, resulting in bb's punching through facemasks at 20ft. One of the players was a marshal, and didn't get spot checked once all day despite multiple complaints. Meanwhile, anyone who made a complaint spent the rest of the day getting spot checked every 15 minutes, despite many of us being well under the limit.
