Timing does indeed mean the cycle of retracting the nozzle to allow the bb into the hop unit, then allowing it forward to seat the BB into the hop before the piston comes forward. If you're not getting a feeding issue that should be OK but if the nozzle isn't actually seating on the feed lips of the hop rubber properly you may be getting an air leak. The chamfered tip of the nozzle should seal into the end of the hop rubber (the feed lip if you will). An easy test is to reassemble the gun, turn it upside down and place a small piece of paper over the feed tube. When you fire the gun the paper should move only minimally, if it blows off then there is air escaping down the feed tube. Also - it may be the camera angle but your barrel doen't look straight in your hop unit - it may need twisting slightly to line it up.3 points

Nozzle length isn't dictated by barrel length, but by the hop design. Sounds like you have a Hop Unit to Nozzle incompatibility which is very typical for bitza builds. Get an adjustable length nozzle and start working out what the ideal length is through trial and error.2 points

Just to be sure as you mentioned CO2…… You are using an actual HPA cylinder aren’t you as opposed to a CO2 cylinder ? HPA cylinders are topped off with a regulator assembly incorporating burst discs, pressure gauge, fill nipple and output valve. Whereas CO2 cylinders have a combined input/output valve with potentially an on/off. Assuming it is HPA then nitrogen will be fine, it’s cleaner than air (of which nitrogen makes up the majority) Back in the day as paintball (mostly) migrated from CO2 to compressed air nitrogen was often used instead from bulk cylinders until sites invested in HPA compressors.2 points

That was my thinking, nitrogren is actually a non-reactive gas it doesn't interact with anything, you can fill your car tyres up with it infact I'm sure racing car tyres are filled with it. Also as it's innert its safe to vent into the atmosphere unlike propane also in most cases it prevents oxidisation so should in theory be really good for the internals. Mainly I was making sure I wasn't being completely stupid in why we use compressed air apart from the fact its easier to produce with a compressor etc...2 points

I mean, that's a fucking dumb thing to do, especially if it's new, heck even if it's old and used you should be cleaning barrels with isoproply alcohol and don't get it anywhere near the hop rubber Expect your first few hundred shots to go everywhere until it's spotlessly clean2 points -
As long as you keep on top of your maintenance (not sure if the nitrogen would be better or worse for any seals in the system) then I see no reason why not. It can't be any more aggressive than the propane you'd have been using prior to converting it to HPA!2 points

1) no idea. But more gas is better than no gas, it's not like it goes off. 2) 0.2's are fine indoors, all the reasons for heavier ammo go away indoors. 3) You'll only fail if you don't have fun. 4) To go all speedi-boi you'll need an HPA pistol that takes M4 hi-caps (or a drum mag) and lycra. The only potential problem you'll have is a lack of mags, but it'll probably prove to be a fun deviation from the norm.2 points

Selling ARES L85A3 AEG This has been sat in its box for most its life. And only ever used used twice with maybe the odd shoot in the back garden here and there. This has never been in any outdoor games so it has little to no marks with the worst being the battery cap in the grip which still locks. Gun functions great an still has the electric blowback functionality. This will come with the following: its original hard carry case. Keymod sling mount. two mags (Not original). Grip pod. Originally bought for £500 with the grip pod Looking £300 inc postage Collection optional in Glasgow or can possibly do the boarders if discussed.£300

Well if we can have a Watches thread (which I like), then let's have one for geeeeeeeetars too, as they can lovely things to behold and meddle with. I am a pleased-as-punch recent purchaser of this: PRS SE CE 24 in Blood Orange If only I could play it as well as it deserves! (This is my 5th guitar, purchased over a span of nearly 40 years, and I've only just got vaguely to grips with rhythm. Lead is a complete no-no. I suck!) PRS really do a fantastic job on build quality, even on their cheaper guitars (like this one). And it plays so easily, it's really nicely set up straight from the box. I might invest in a set of locking tuners on it, the 9 gauge strings are shifting tune as my 'office' room is a bit of a sweatbox at the moment. And those skinny strings are slicing up the ends of my fingers a bit - though that might be because I'm just playing it too much Anyway, share some pics of your beauties1 point -

I wouldn't return it, just give the barrel and hop unit a really good clean, the gun should've come with a cleaning rod and Instructions can be found online. To be honest it's a good idea to clean out the barrel of new guns anyway as they often (especially the clones) come with dirty barrels) This1 point -
M16A1 low fps - theory?

Dunno if this helps but the JGM16A1 I have shoots .84j, 297.5fps straight out of the box.1 point -
I'm having similar issues with my JG SG1, so i'll be keeping an eye on this thread. I normally use 0.30s, but adding enough hop causes the power to drop precipitously. It looks to be an issue with compatibility between the hop unit, bucking or air nozzle at a guess so I've got lots of playing about and experimenting to do!1 point

I've seen those scuba adapters on a youtube video that was the cheapest method I could find if you had an old tank kicking around but even on FB or ebay you can pick them up pretty cheap. The nitrogen bottles have a 5/8" fitting on which then goes off to the regulator, However this that one in question is £800 lol I'll give my supplier a ring on Monday and see if they'll loan me one or chuck me a freebie, that reg is a high pressure the one we use is a High Flow which cost 3x as much and its massive as it has a heat exchanger when cutting full speed even the bottles start freezing up lol. I know these tanks are designed for the pressure but they must be dead thick 1800psi is not to be sniffed at.1 point

This sort of thing is used as a fill rig for scuba to paintball / airsoft cylinders https://www.bzpaintball.co.uk/hk-army-a-clamp-yolk-fill-station-blue It does of course depend on what type of fitting you have on your nitrogen cylinders. If you come from a regulated output then your maximum fill will be the maximum you can get. That may be fine for testing provided you can draw off more than your airsoft output pressure requirement , but to get the most from your cylinder you need 3000psi / 232bar As you have a 300bar cylinder that’s 4500psi, which means you should regulate your fill rig to 3000psi, but provided you slow fill and watch the gauges it’s viable to fill into 3000psi from a 4500psi source (it is of course best practice to regulate at the appropriate level) This uses a site type fill station but the principles are the same. If filling from low or empty then fill a little, stop and pause, fill a little more and repeat. That ensures it’s nice and slow and reduces heat generation If you fast fill from empty then not only are you increasing the risk of overfilling but gas expands when hot - when it cools the pressure will drop which means a fast hot fill ends up with less of a fill1 point

M16A1 low fps - theory?
Rogerborg reacted to Adolf Hamster for a topic
hop fully on isn't a great way to test, many a pew can have low fps to the point of even being incapable of firing with a full hop applied. the main thing is that with the hop set to an appropriate in-game level, that the fps is reasonable, fully on or fully off then things get weird. if you want a ballpark measurement, without needing a range to set properly, then ~0.5mm of protrusion into the barrel will be at least in the same postcode.1 point -
That’s good for HPA and / or nitrogen Yep. The optimum is to fill on site with a ‘proper’ high pressure, filtered & maintained compressor which runs into the thousands of £ Cheaper compressors are available now (not workshop ones) can do the job these days without killing you, there are also Your plan to use existing nitrogen facilities is a fair one Viable alternatives for those who need their own fill system are typically a scuba cylinder rig or a ‘shoebox compressor’ which takes input from a workshop type compressor then boosts up to 3000psi etc - but that is slow & noisy A compromise is a high pressure stirrup pump - relatively cheap (ensure a filter is added) but takes time and effort Your existing nitrogen is a good call, clean & convenient1 point

I've never lubed a hop rubber with silicon.......... BUT While cleaning & lubing the slide on one of my tm hi-capa's, I was a little generous with the lube, & unbeknown to me wet a rubber "ring" at the rear of the slide, couple of days later at a skirmish the pistol wouldn't cycle, later on closer inspection I could see that the "ring", which I think was some sort of buffer, had swollen, preventing the slide from returning to the forward position. I haven't watched the above video yet, but I can only talk from my own experience, hence why I'd be cynical about getting it near the hop, I've sorted plenty of leaky gas mags with it.1 point

A can of gas should be more than sufficient for a day. And 0.25g is a decent shout, they're good at most CQB sites and the cost difference is minimal. You'll have a blast. Fewer kills, but more satisfaction when you do get one. I love pistol and shotgun play. Heck, in very-CQB, my favourite tool is an unhopped revolver, used single-action.1 point

PRS make some stunning guitars., and thats a beute ! I'm an SG fan mainly. Hugely into Sabbath, here are my main 2. The Gibo has 2 Iommi custom pickups and the Epi has the same in the bridge. I have got a Jaydee Oldboy on order, build slot is about 12 months away yet ! Copy of Iommi's main guitar , made by the same people that make his , can't wait ! It'll be a trip up to Birmingham to collect it and have a look around the workshop.1 point -

@shatis actually try holding one before you settle on an MP7. Personally I find the vertical grip angle just doesn't work for me. I have an MP9 which feels completely different (to me at least).1 point
-
My mate said this after he got one. I got one. I don't regret it one bit 😁 That said, it did cost me almost the same again in mags and you'll want a proper sling mount for the rear. People do say parts are hard to come by, although I've no experience of that as it's not shit itself yet. Going from AEG to GBBR isn't for everyone though, I only used mid-caps in my AEG previously so was kinda used to it but you really notice how often you have to change mags and also how heavy they are in the first few games. One thing it will do though, is speed up your transition to a sidearm in the middle of a firefight.1 point

I was surprised to discover that a TM MP7 is perfectly capable of holding its own in woodland as well as urban/CQB and they shoot miles with green gas and heavier bb’s. Get one, you won’t regret it.1 point
