Do you get much co-witness with the ACOG and A2 front post?

What happened to that "handguard AEG store" on Aliexpress? They used to have lots of items with line-drawings of the handguards plus pictured reviews but now there's almost nothing. Did it get purged?

Any other places to browse handguards/rails?

Having previously splurged (what feels to me) far too much for a Kydex Customs holster for my toy Glock (£70)

And adding a flashlight to the pistol, I needed another holster

Looking on their website again a couple of weeks ago, I was kinda shocked that a suitable replacement was gonna empty my wallet of almost another £90!
Im not saying they aren’t good, My non light bearing holster is superb, but buying another one pains my budget!!

So I had a trawl about Ali Exp and found a good looking substitute for a 1/4 of that cost, but not available wrapped to blend in to my loadout.

I sacrificed a pouch that I wasn’t going to use, got my wife’s thread picker out and got set about deconstructing the pouch

Next came wrapping the Ali Exp holster using evostick adhesive, then fitted a spare QLS mount to allow me to swap between the two.

No problems with the holster, with plenty of room for the higher “Supressor” Iron Sights.

I still have to burn the edges with a lighter/candle to clean up the stray threads and stop fraying.

I’m Very happy with the result

This is the reason I now only have 2 Glock’s, no need to buy loads of different holsters. I’ve got a Safariland for if I’m using a light, and a Kydex Customs one for when I’m not and both have QLS mounts.

It's the reason I now use a Deadly Customs Universal holster.

I’ve got the same set up. Tiny bit of shadow in the bottom half of the image if you really look for it, but doesn’t affect use one bit. Don’t notice it at all when playing.

Not really, although I seldom run it with the ACOG and when I do I use the doctor red dot on the wing mount. I usually run it with a 552 style red dot.

So for a long time my a&k pkm was my most used gun. I loved it but I hit a point where I desperately needed money to buy stock for my business. And so it was sold. I did miss it a lot and recently things have gotten more stable. Then this lct full steel pkp popped up and here we are. Makes me glad ive been working out. Unfortunately my normal rifle slings are making unhappy noises at me under the 11kg (not including the handguard on it and the optic I will be putting on it) if anyone has a a recommendation for a good padded sling id be happy to hear them as I intend to run this a lot.

Somewhat accidentally bidding on an airtac adapter for GHK M4/G5, didn't expect to actually win it. I suppose i'll have it ready for the V2 G5's next year.

i got it about half the price of a new one, which is a win I suppose? 😅

I've boughts lots of bits and bobs lately but the most noteworthy are my new LPRed helmet and a Perun V2 Hybrid and new trigger.

Technically, I've wanted a Tanaka for about 15 years. When I first started playing airsoft, in my eyes at least a Tanaka rifle was the bee-knees. They were rare, a weird choice, moderately expensive and also had this allure of some existing 'pre-ban'. Not Asahi M40 shell-ejecting rare, but still uncommon. What probably added to that, was that at the time when I was playing, there was a sniper at my local field who had one and he totally dominated with it (mostly because he worked nights doing security on empty warehouses, so he had unlimited access to a 100m+ wind free range).

I wanted one then but I never found quite what I was after, then airsoft fell by the wayside and I forgot all about them. Having restarted this year, I had a trip down memory lane and an old Facebook post reminded me of my lust for Tanakas. But finding them is even tougher these days - mostly because people who have them don't want to part with them. Chatting about Tanakas with a sniper at Battle Lakes a couple of months back and he mentioned he had a couple - one he found and one a mate sold to him when he gave up. When I saw him last week, he said he'd given it some thought and he'd sell me one as it was sitting unused. So last night, I picked up a 'pre-ban' Tanaka M700 and a few mags. Now just to wait for some good weather but hopefully not 15 years.

IMG_4573.jpg

Oooooooooooooooh, a pre-ban m700 that has already been shortened (this is a good thing because stock they come with a 640mm inner barrel which joule creeps to hell!). Shame about the paint job, but a pre-ban is still a pre-ban! I've found that my m700s tend to like around 15 celcius or higher when using gas. As you get closer to 10 celcius the consistency of the gas really takes a hit, and lower than 10 celcius and it becomes unusable. The two ways around this are either co2 mags (they have issues where the power drops as you deplete the co2 bulb, but it's nowhere near as bad as the drop you get on regular gas when it's cold), or HPA tapping a few mags and embracing the hose pipe. Wherever you take it, I hope you enjoy using it as much as I enjoy mine!

(it also feels unique as not many people run gas bolt actions. At my local site, it's just me and my friend who use them)

Even though my co2 VSR has been performing amazingly well recently (and doesn't have the same co2 issues as the m700 would because it has a regulator), I have taken drastic measures because I just... prefer my m700s, how they feel and work and I want to use them, even if it's only as a backup gun during winter because my MTW is preferable. I have accepted the forbidden hose pipe because the fittings were cheap and I had magazines that I wasn't otherwise using...

Will test on Sunday to see if it's okay or if I hate the air line as I tend to do, but they are air tight with no leakage. If you were going to HPA tap a magazine, do it with a long one (Action Army or King Arms) because if you want to HPA tap a short one you have to drill and thread them. The long ones you just replace the fill valve.

What 'ban' are we talking about here, just out of interest?

Taken from: https://snipermechanics.com/tanaka-m700-old-faithful/

"You’ll often hear of people saying PCS or pre ban, this essentially means rifles that come with a bolt which allows for quick FPS/Air volume adjustment. Later rifles were changed due to local laws and come with a standard bolt."

Tanaka bolt actions used to have a very easy way to adjust the power (I believe it is a grub screw in the bolt), but then there was a ban on it in Japan. Pre-ban rifles have that super easy adjustable bolt, while post-ban ones are a bit more involved to adjust the power, but it's still possible.

There’s a thumbwheel in the bolt to adjust the power (it’s secured with a grub screw). Whizzed out to 100% with high pressure gas and they’ll do big numbers.

With the stock 640mm inner barrel and black gas and .48s... Yeah, they do biiiig numbers.

Sounds like a similar setup to the King Arms bolt, which is what I have in mine, though the King Arms one is pretty tight so good luck adjusting it with a thumb and not taking the bolt apart and using a screwdriver.

EDIT: This also made me think, it's similar to HPA today, except back in the day we (almost) never had any issues with m700 snipers abusing rules and there were no tournament locks... At least I never had any issues with guys using them at the sites I played at in the UK or Spain

Yeah that needs stripping back and fixing eh! There’s some other little bits and pieces that need sorting - a random variety of nuts/bolts has been collected over the last 20 odd years.

I’ll pick up a couple of long mags for it but the plan is to just leave it on propane and save it for Sunday best.

That's a good way to look at it. The long mags tend to be a bit better than the short mags, and the gun is definitely at its best running on gas as opposed to co2 or HPA. I use propane in mine as well, as I've moved to it since I use so many gas guns now (m700s and MWSs make up... 6 of my guns, all of which are among my favourites!)
