I like the Magpul handguard on the MP5.

@ButcherBill What's the name of the stippled/textured handguard on the third one down?

Not sure tbh but it's the guard used during the Iranian Embassy operation in 1980 by the SAS. Wasn't the easiest to find but put a wanted add in the classifieds & was offered it by another forum member, took a little bit of fettling to make it work as the back piece was missing.

edit... it's called a slim handguard.

It looks like the original/early MP5 (A1?) handguard.

The only AEG I’ve owned that wasn’t utter shit.

Oh, what brand, mister?  I do fancy me an SD6.

I've only got a tiddler, but it's what you do with it, or so I tell Mrs Borg. As a primary, it's more attachment than gun, twisted and evil.

... but also makes for a nice side piece when you're out and about with your main squeeze.

It was a TM NGRS.

Felt great despite non being stamped, everything fit perfectly, finish was lovely. Ran smooth as you’d expect.

If they make a K or a GBB version I’ll be all over it.

I smaller the better in my opinion 😬🤣

What make/model is your stumpy-boi?
Quite fancy one to go along side my TM NGRS

It's a Galaxy G5K, now sadly hard to get after Luke at Negative wanked himself dry over them then bought a load for himself.  Very cheap plastic shell, but that makes them light, and ideal for a sidearm. The internals are indeed fine for the price.

I've just become a member of the MP5 Owner's Club, so here's my rather dull pic of my gat.

It's purchased from the Classified's at a sensible price for a Secutor (which is probably an Ares under the skin, but I've seen that different manufacturers do different models, so this might actually be something else.  One crosses one's fingers, doesn't one?)   The externals are pretty good for a full polymer RIF, and it's wanged some BB's to the end of the garden quite accurately, so happy with it so far!

Setup - Acetech Blaster C for tonight's CQB shenanigans, and with a Cyma fixed stock and old school foregrip supplied with the gnu.

It'll be enough for me to see how I get on with the MP5 scenario in the field... as long-term I'll be looking for a Classic Army full-metal, or maybe a TM or a VFC GBB variant.
It certainly feels very handy, and I'm already enjoying the Die Hard vibes very muchly.

The decent news for any wannabe MP5 owners is that two mags sit very nicely in my polymer shell M4 mag holders (hence the inclusion in the pic).   So I don't currently feel the need to invest in a new chest rig or alternative belt setup.

As plain and white bread as they can come, a scruffy boneyard job, but I've spent money on the internals...

  • PDI inner barrel.
  • Snipetor r-hop patch + Modify flat bucking.
  • GATE Titan v3.
  • AK2M4 / XT brushless motor.

... and it runs very nicely on 7.4v (I've no 11.1v's that fit). I'm quite tempted to stick with 7.4v and pop in a lower ratio gear set 🤔

Edit: It was bought with the intention of using as a cold weather / winter sidearm, but as the upper is metal it weighs a ton and is tricky to use single handed.

It is peculiar that it's hard to get a cheap plastic version, given that it's airsoft.  Other than the Galaxy G5K, are there any plastic bodied alternatives?

G&G do a polymer version in their Combat Machine range, Marui used to make poly / plastic ones in their standard  / non-recoil range (I assume they still do, but it's been a while since I looked)

Here's my MP5 from a few years ago - Classic Army, a few upgrades.

I mean, specifically an MP5K.  I guess the TM High Cycle is a candidate - that's plastic, right?

Man I thought I had a problem with MP5 addictions, some of y'all are shoiwing me up! :P

MP5s are undeniably the coolest looking gun ever made and anyone who says otherwise is just lying to themselves in a mixture of jealousy and denial.

And the only thing an MP5 needs to look gucci as all fuck is the surefire flashlight handguard. Or the SD front end. Less is more!

My venerable MP5; it was bought in 2013.

Only the externals remain of the original SRC gun; all the internals have been changed.

I really should get an SEF version to go with my G3, HK33, HK53 and MC51.

Is there a decent cheap sling that can be recommended for the full stock version?

All my slings are single point or won't fit the sling loop... My polymer gun is light but i still like to go 'hands free' easily.
