JamesAirsofterAgent reacted to ConfusedDad in Dad and son new to airsoft
Hello everyone
Dad and son combo new to airsoft!!!! Any top tips on what to do and what not to do would be welcome, especially as I'm no spring chicken and the prospect of running around for the day fills me we dread lol.
Any advice on AEG rifles, what to look out for, what's good and what's not etc would be welcome too (I understand there is a qualifying period and joining UKARA before purchasing a solid colour set up). I'd be budgeting around £300 - £400 for each of us and that would include weapon, mags, batteries, chargers etc etc.
Look forward to hearing your words of wisdom
Thanks
Confused Dad

Not a fan of making things compulsory myself, but...
It can spoil the atmosphere when an adult player looses a tooth and gets pissy about it. There are enough options out there for decent facepro tbh; and moaning about the results of one's own decisions is a bit un-manly IMHO.

Got to be honest I don't get not wearing full face, to me it's as nuts as not wearing eye pro.
Had enough dental pain and cost in my life that I just don't understand why you would put yourself in a position where you could get your teeth shot out.
Probably an unpopular opinion but I think full face should be compulsory.

Positive from a negative, from the point of view of a person who has to fix said boo boo I’d much rather work on a baldy barstuard that someone with flowing locks . Always get a better result on the open tundra than you do in the jungle , if ya catch ma drift ? 😉

Agreed with Mr no face. Bunker 51 can be quite full on for newbies, and it also gets very muggy in there, or at least it was last time I went. Fun site, just a bit too open and dark in most areas for my liking.
If you can make it, north west london has some pretty good sites; Red1 the school and Red1 oblivion in kings langley are both very, very good for gbbr gameplay; the school is an abandoned school and very up close and personal where gbbr hits are real satisfying and you dont have as much of a disadvantage compared to aegs, and oblivion is a more open woodland site but with several nice built up areas for semi cqb action.
If you prefer slower gameplay and more open maps, reforger up the road from Red1 is pretty good, huge map sizes and very open sightlines so great for stalking and sniping just not my speed.
And finally, you can't say you spent 2.5k on an MWS build, and then not show us what it looks like! Pics!

I'm seeing about 0.8 j on mine with .30's (about 300 fps in old money) It's incrdibly consistant so I'm happy that it's pretty well sealed . Happily ranges out with aeg's and very accurate too by airsoft standards.
So PB's 395 is optamistic unless mine , which came from PB, is a Japanese market one . Might have a restricter fitted or a weaker spring, I'll have a look when I open it up but not bothering to do that untill something breaks.

How much knowledge do you need to keep the rifle in good condition, is there much maintenance required?
Looking on the PB website it says 395 fps, are a lot of people finding that it is infact lower?

JamesAirsofterAgent reacted to Daveoc33 in Evike Europe
Evike now have a warehouse in europe (France apparently) and are shipping to the UK.
https://evike-europe.com/ username: Evike Password: Europe for early bird access
use WELCOME20 for 20% off your first order.
They say that orders for the UK are VAT exempt: https://evike-europe.com/delivery-methods - does that mean they pay the VAT?
UK delivery in 2-3 days by DPD (it's not UPS!! )
Free shipping on orders over 150 euros
Customs fees apply (whatever that means)
Might be worth a punt. At a glance it looks like they are gunfire.com-ish prices with some bettter some worse. LCT stuff with euro to GBP exchange rate and 20% off and free shipping comes out quite reasonable.
Some RIFs like the scorpion evo and cyma sr25 are "prohibited from sale" in the UK and a few other countries for reasons unknown.

Another decent day at the very-CQB Biohazard. High intensity, not too much faffing around between games, and generally fair and good natured play.
The newer upstairs area is great, with a killhouse maze in the middle that saw the bodies piled like cordwood. I'm surprised they don't make more use of that floor.
The usual complaints regarding marshalling. Too much generic lecturing at briefings, too little enforcement in game. I got cheat called by a gobby grenadier who was adamant that I wasn't behind hard cover and so he must have got me. Every time I shot him, he came back and had another shouty moan about it. Unaware that there was a marshal standing right next to me who'd told me not to take his grenade hit.
Funny up to a point, but she could hear him cheat calling and didn't do anything thing about it. Don't say it if you're not going to enforce it.

Lol, I am sure the Russian soldiers will turn around in fear once they see someone in some Viper chest rigs.

Well that's two sites I will not bother with.
The sites may be good, but if the marshals aren't going to sort problems then no point me going. Really can't be arsed with dickheads like that on the field, when there's other sites that do deal with the tossers.

JamesAirsofterAgent reacted to Rogerborg in The 'How Did Your Airsoft Day Go? Thread
I've formed the impression that there are people who only turn up in order to stand around at respawn pissing and moaning to anyone who will listen about all the CHEETARS that they dumped three mags into.
So when I took a gun hit yesterday, I put my helmet on it and held it up above cover to give them something to shoot at and really complain about.
Good, I'd like to see it to happen more often. If sites punted the worst player every day, what a hobby this would be.

Getting good 1911 grips in the UK seems near impossible to be honest. Even more so for non-government sized models.
I've seen some officer sizes for sale on Brownells (example), and I'm also currently working with Navidrex (homepage - US based; supplies grips to Brownells UK) on a set of custom made-to-order wood grips. Its around $20 for a custom set of hand checkered grips so pretty affordable. Shipping costs more than the grips though..
Fingers crossed that UPS doesn't muck up the shipping but otherwise Navidrex was really good with accommodating custom options so check them out.
This is a standard Navidrex set sold on Brownells (colour is a bit darker with ~10 coats of tung oil). I'm pretty sure they can make something like this in officer size from scratch.

Cool, thanks for your input, the BCM grip has now changed, wasn’t as tacticool as your FAB one so I felt like I should try and keep up.
Enjoy your day, bone daddy.
