  1. NOOOOooooooooooooooooooooo. Was testing Matilda and she exploded! Pulled back the bolt and the gas release valve blew. Luckily the scope mount deflected the workings of the valve away from my head.

When Matilda works, she is very accurate. Not really a sniper as so far the power has been too low, but perfect as a DMR. Unfortunately, like all really sexy looking women, she appears to be rather high maintenance :D

feels good when she is in ya arms though....

love is blind as they say - you could been when that mag went off

I'm sure you can work it out - lots of couples have their problems

  2. 2nd AIF (2nd world war Aussie). Australian Imperial Force is an organisation created separately from the normal army (militia). The Australian Army was not allowed to operate outside Australian Territory by the constitution. The AIF was not the army so it was not bound by this rule but had to be entirely formed of volunteers. 1st 2 pics are early war. A mix of WW1 Australian gear and British gear. This is based upon pictures of Aussies during the early Libya campaigns Late war (jungle). By now the Aussies are working with Americans so you see American influences such as the lace up gaiters and I am using US HBT trousers, which the Aussies are known to have managed to obtain.
  3. It's time Matilda made an appearance on this thread: I will produce some better photos when I can take them outside. Its hard to get the whole gun in and artificial light doesn't do her justice.
  4. Best airsoft Sniper rifle= Matilda. My Iron Airsoft SMLE. This is purely on the basis of appearance rather than everyone else's silly accuracy criteria though
  5. Where can I go airsofting on a Saturday? I have the next 2 Saturdays off and then a WW2 game. I need to put Matilda through her paces before the WW2 game.

Hmm Xsite might actually be doable, would there be a chance of a lift from maidenhead station?

I can give you a lift mate, only thing to bear in mind is CO2 guns are flat out banned.

I don't own any. Lots of sites ban em, so its not worth getting them. I may have to get some 144a though as I have no idea what Matilda will chrono at :)

  6. http://www.surplusandoutdoors.com/shop/british-militaria/wwii-1940-s/new-wwii-wartime-and-1950-s-army-320119.html The WW2 version is cheaper. They are usually hung on the outside of the backpack and make a great sound if you manage to hit them
  7. Home from work now so can be a bit more thorough. FN FAL/SLR: These are extremely hard to get hold of. I'm not even sure anyone is making them anymore. G3's: Plenty of these on taiwangun.com made by JG. JG are generally well regarded. AK's and SVD's: Ask Ian Gere but for AK's there are certain good cyma models that are recommended and I can't remember which. MP44: Ask on ww2airsoft.org.uk, someone will have one and may have modified it. M14's: Generally these are good, never heard of a bad M14 Garand: Very new on the market, again ask on ww2airsoft.org.uk, someone will have one. I would guess however that it's essentially an M14 in a slightly different body (people use to make airsoft Garands out of M14's) I would suggest that you consider WW2 airsoft if these are the types of guns that appeal. The games are a much more immersive experience and the outfits are awesome fun to put together. Theres usually a WW2 game somewhere in the UK about once a month. Theres a 2 day D Day based one coming up in November, which should be epic. I believe I recommended the Sten, heres why. This video is not actually a sten but it is an ASG Sten Mk2 with some external modification:
  8. It's no problem staying in semi auto. I have a Sten and a Lee Enfield. The Lee enfield is bolt action so, one step further than just semi, the Sten I use a gadget called a mosfet that allows me to program the max burst, so I often use it in semi only. It would probably be a good thing if players were forced to start with a semi only gun, it would teach them to use the sights and not spray and pray I would go as far as to say that if I gave 2 beginners a semi auto only gun and a full auto and semi gun, the one locked to semi auto would probably end up doing better. Sometimes full auto is helpful but most people seem to use it instead of aiming. The other reason to start with a sub machine gun is rifles are long and heavy, rifles made out of steel and wood are long and really heavy. You will have to carry it all day. A steel and wood sub machine gun is still a lot heavier than a plastic M4 but it's short so still easy to use when you're getting tired.
  9. If you like old guns, then there are 2 types: Sub Machine guns and Rifles. Rifles are bolt action or semi auto. The MP44 is the 1st assault rifle so it is an exception. In airsoft, there is little real difference between a sub machine gun and an assault rifle. If you are wanting a Garand but want to start with something easier to use, a sub machinegun means that you can get the outfit to go with the Garand and the submachinegun will fit in with that outfit.
  10. Check out ww2airsoft.org.uk If you like the Garand, then why not? It's semi auto but that just stops you from spraying ammo everywhere. I would start with a sub machine gun 1st though. The MP44 is probably quite good. The best cheapish WW2 weapon atm in terms of performance is the ASG/AGM Sten Mk2. ASG is a distributor not a manufacturer so ASG and AGM are essentially the same.
  11. Try a thicker oil. Aerosol ones are very thin in order to spray well, that means the oil has to be applied more often. Look for silicon gun oil in a dropper bottle. be warned, you may get some adult sites when googling it, as it has other uses apparently
  12. Times have not changed, It's Lies!!!! Oh and where did you say Webley .45's are available?
  13. I wanted an SMLE, only Iron airsoft made an SMLE and it had a really bad reputation. I got one anyway and had to fix everything just to get it working. I now have a fully functioning Gas powered SMLE and expert knowledge of how everything in it works. It was pretty daunting to have to take everything apart but with guides on the internet and a bit of patience it becomes easy.
  14. I would buy an ASG Sten Mk2 but it's not a gun that suits most people and wouldn't be ideal as your only gun. What is most important is really that you have the gun you want. If the gun you really want is only made by one company and they have bad reviews, I would still get that gun. Everything can be sorted out except not having the gun you really want.
  15. Didn't read it all, as I got bored halfway through, but I think the gist of it is 'Hey I want to make an AKS-74U with this fancy suppressor, which stock and other bits should I use?' I would question why you are wanting the really heavy suppressor because it looks all cool and Russian and then adding an M4 style stock? But thats just me preferring looks over function Had you considered making a mold of the suppressor and then making one out of lighter material? Could you fit one of these into a cut down wooden stock in some way? It would add the weight and look frickin awesome.
  16. Yay finally managed to fix Matilda's gas fill valve! Used an O ring from a disposable lighter :)

so now you got a leaky lighter ?

  17. Any second now, someone will suggest a G&G combat machine. Ist decide what sort of gun you would like, if it's an M4 then G&G combat machine. But if you want something other than an M4, tell us what your dream gun would be and we can then make suggestions
  18. The places that hurt are where the fabric of your clothes is tight against your skin. Loose fabric will take the energy out of a bb. Unless you wear lycra or spandex trousers, you are fairly safe. Really baggy clothing made of heavy material will provide excellent protection.
  19. If you want to design airsoft weapons you will need to move to the far east.
  20. My gas gun is bolt action, has a 12 round mag and I cannot even get a spare mag atm. It's a fantastic gun but some scenarios my AEG sten is more suited to. I love them both.
  21. A Gas pistol may lose some power in the cold, but an AEP doesn't have it at any time. Pistols are generally just extra toys unless you need a backup as a sniper or do some CQB. Consider either a Gas pistol or a small sub machine gun (MP5K etc.). http://www.taiwangun.com/en/sub-machine-guns If you decide to go for gas, a non blowback gun is more efficient and will be less severely affected by temperature.
  22. Ask yourself this: What is your favourite war film, war based computer game or whatever? This simple question is quite often the basis of peoples 1st loadout. This tends to be expensive, so your best bet might be to get some army surplus gear, dpm is cheap and works well. http://www.britishmilitarysurplus.co.uk/shop/special-offers/soldier-95-deal-grade-1-1124095.html
  23. Shoot and Scoot Vickers: £775 okay the tripod takes it over budget at £300, but only just. If you can find a team to run a machine gun and cart it around, why would you not want a Vickers!
