  1. Sounds to me like you need to reconsider your load carrying. Multiple midcap mags tend to be a better idea than high caps and using midcaps you will need to carry more than 3 mags. If you are also having issues carrying spare bb's then it is clear that your vest isn't up to the job. Adding a side arm is not going to make things any easier. You should consider getting something more customisable such as a molle vest/chest rig or similar, alternatively webbing. Think about what you may want to carry in the future and make sure you are able to add the pouches you want.
  2. Persuade your Mum. I bet we can find some gear for both of you. WW2 airsoft is very much more friendly than normal airsoft. It's also educational. I bet your Mum would actually enjoy it, even if she doesn't like guns. The WW2 games are not about running around shooting people, they are about teamwork, dressing up and the social aspects with a bit of running around shooting people thrown in The Aachen game already has 2 women signed up so she wouldn't be the only one there. It's also a way for her to see what airsoft is about, without forking out for guns etc. straight away.
  3. Put BB's into mags and just carry mags, BB's stay in safe zone. On an all day game, carry a backpack with your lunch and BB's in. Carry a full speedloader in a shirt pocket or pistol mag pouch for that 'oh c**p that was my last mag' moment.
  4. There used to be a device you could buy that attached to a bow that allowed it to shoot small darts for practice indoors. Basically a piston with the plunger attached to the string. It may be possible to recreate it and have it shoot bb's. The problem with rubber blunted arrows is that they still have weight behind them. They may not do much damage when hitting people as the impact area is large but if you hit someones eyepro, it may be enough to knock them off.
  5. Btw, if anyone from Bristol wants to get involved in WW2 airsoft it would be great to have a small group to go to games together. My next planned game will be Feb 28th in Portsmouth and I hope to have my Owen gun so may want to go as Aussie, which means I will have a spare Sten and most of a British Para impression spare
  6. Presumably the gears look fine? Did you check that the piston is moving okay? an FPS issue is usually something to do with the piston/spring. Gears and motor only affect the rate of fire. Remove the spring and check that the piston moves okay. Check the teeth on the sector gear and piston. Check the air seal on the piston. You may want to replace the spring just in case as this is fairly cheap anyway.
  7. Yes, I would hire to start with and get UKARA sorted. Spend the time looking at other people's guns to get more idea of what you really want. Black ops is a good place to start as you can play 2 very different sites which both contribute to your UKARA. An alternative idea to both using the same gun would be to have 2 very different guns that perform different roles, DMR, Support gun, Sniper, SMG etc. This will allow you to swap and get more variety during the day.
  8. Sadly the point of the VCRA is to only allow realistic coloured guns to be sold to people who legitimately need their guns to look realistic. For target shooting the colour is purely aesthetic. UKARA isn't the only defence, re-enactors get a defence as well but that requires membership of a re-enactment group and not every retailer will be familiar enough with this. A lot of WW2 airsofters use AFRA membership rather than UKARA, as we rarely go to the same site 3 times in a year and our games also qualify as re-enactment.
  9. The PPK is going to be tough to get parts for as PPK's are not easy to find. The only place I ever see selling them is http://uk.redwolfairsoft.com/ they may be able to get spares? It's made by Maruzen so is a great replica but not a fantastic airsoft gun. I doubt it has a hop up.
  10. Just back from Storming the beaches of South Wales is what turned out to be heatwave conditions despite the weather forecast. Logged into ww2airsoft.org.uk to find that the guy making my Owen gun has decided to give it a functioning barrel release so that I can change the barrel and access the hop unit without tools. Best Weekend ever!

The plan was to take Brit airborne gear for the game and Aussie gear for the social, so I had dry clothing. Day1 was so hot I was drenched with sweat after the hour walk to the beach so Day 2 I went for the Aussie Khaki drill. Best bit of the weekend was storming a huge sand dune and peeking over the top to see the whole German army in a line to my left, all looking the other way. I emptied a Sten mag and racked up more kills than I have ever had in any day's airsofting.

lol- that will teach them, bloomin good when you get the jump on 'em - even better when you got the high ground advantage

  11. I tend to find that the best results are achieved by not stopping to think in CQB. Whatever you are going to do, do it fast and with a sense of purpose. Don't hang around the doorway until the people inside know you are getting ready to go though it. Get the hell through that doorway and start shooting people before they can get prepared. With practice you will learn where people are likely to be. People who go to a CQB site frequently tend to just learn how to do this and will instinctively stride into the room moving fast and putting bursts into corners.
  12. They are officially licensed by the RSL (Australian equivalent of the British Legion). http://unibicanzacbiscuits.com/ There are however lots of different recipes and some may be softer. These are tough but taste nice and are great as a source of energy. They also survive being bashed around in your pack during an airsoft game.
  13. I while ago, there was a thread asking what peoples ideal site would be. I thought a beach and sand dunes would be cool, to create beach landing scenarios. Tomorrow I'm off to a beach in Wales to do a D Day based game :)

Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YOU HAVE TO ENJOY IT!!!!!

      I envy you so much!!!!!

  14. Bristol airsoft is not an ideal place to start airsofting. It can be a bit frustrating if the marshalls don't keep the teams balanced. Last time I was there, there were new marshalls and they were a bit useless. Our team got pinned down at our spawn and I got shot point blank in the top of the head whilst standing on some stairs waiting for a lull in the shooting to get to the respawn point. When it's good it's great fun there but when you are trying to get UKARA sorted, it's best to start at Black ops, where the standard of marshalling is more consistent. Man up and brave the weather!
  15. The UK actually has the oldest constitution created. It was called Magna Carta.
  16. Any UKARA registered retailer should put you on the database if you ask. If your local site has a shop, they may be able to do it, otherwise they may have suggestions for where to send it. Keep a copy of the form just in case.
  17. Spam, Oatcakes and Anzac Biscuits. Basic Aussie Rations for a 2 day game this weekend. Anzac biscuits=only biscuit solid enough to use as a melee weapon They were designed as a biscuit that would survive the mail from Australia to Europe during WW1 and although they taste quite nice (like a coconut hobnob), they are very tough but that just prevents you eating them all before lunchtime. I discovered before my last WW2 game that I could get them at my local Sainsbury's As a bonus, buying them helps support the RSL (Aussie version of the British Legion).
  18. You will need a UKARA number to import into the UK. You are best to do some skirmishes with a hire gun and sort that out. Apart from that you seem to have most of the basics covered. I find that separate goggles and mask work better with glasses. Even with mesh, a full face mask traps enough moisture to fog your glasses.
  19. For that budget, I would do exactly what I'm doing at the moment. Taking a cheap gun that I know shoots extremely well, the ASG Sten MkII and paying someone £300 to build the internals into the gun of my dreams. Sten on the Top, Owen gun Below. Some of the work so far. For full details: http://www.ww2airsoft.org.uk/php/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=18577 Can't wait. It will be a 1 of a kind and if it shoots as well as the Sten, it will Kick Ass
  20. Spartan is probably the best site but Black ops is almost as good and gives you 2 sites to play at while sorting out UKARA. Bristol Airsoft is okay but gets boring fast, it is nice for a change to do some CQB occasionally.
  21. SRC gen 3 or JG. The SRC gen 3 has a very good reputation, despite everything else SRC make not being great. I guess they just got lucky with a design. JG G36's are very popular as hire guns, this is an indication of reliability and value for money.

  23. Theres quite a few of us around Bristol. Spartan airsoft up near the airport is a very good site and both Cribbs Causeway and Portishead Black ops are good. With the current weather though, Bristol airsoft in the old magistrates court may be a good bet. I unfortunately am a bit short of cash as I get ready for a 2 day D Day game near Bridgend, so won't be going to any normal skirmishes for a few weeks. If you fancied trying WW2 airsoft, its a 2 day game and it may still be possible to hire weapons and uniform http://www.ww2airsoft.org.uk/php/phpBB2/viewforum.php?f=266&sid=c1954ff77f045f5411e44e88b0600af0 It's not very often that airsofters get use of a beach for an amphibious landing
